Butch people are often described as sexually dominant lesbians who are interested in intimacy with femmes, but not limited only with femmes.
The defining characteristic that most scholars agree on is that butch people are lesbians who are to some degree aligned with masculine traits.
This is a identity that welcomes he/him lesbians, FTM butches, T4T butches, gender non-conforming butches and so on so fourth!
