Posted 8 years agoA LONG LONG time ago I thought "I would LOVE a Shiranui hoodie" so I designed this one!
But I never wound up making it or having it commissioned

Posted 9 years agoAlright so that's totally unrelated as is this eNTIre journal.
But yah there's an article I found that says "Instant noodles can make babies gay"
Article: http://www.pinknews.co.uk/2016/02/2.....F_9c97cd65d5e5488ab414b164e1cb3f9c
ALSO! Pro tip: "Don't do that"
Do NOT go onto the internet with health concerns.
I typed in symptoms I was having that were concerning because I would prefer to avoid going to the hospital if I can lmao
and it diagnosed me with having a stroke....when in reality I just had low blood sugar.
So hey don't do that.
As for works that I owe people!
I have one ref sheet to finish for a friend that I said I would have done by tomorrow, so I will be working on THAT today, as well as a fix on an icon (my booboo, my bad <3)
Funny enough I'm usually the one saying artists should read the info in the ref sheet description and I didn't do it. And att this point I can SAY that I blame the pregnancy but really it was just my own negligence.
THAT SAID....everyone please remember to read lol me included.
After the two pieces are finished I will be pretty MIA, so I probs won't reply to comments, notes, shouts, etc.
I'm already kind of not doing that and I'm sorry, but with time ticking faster it's just more diffficult to sit on here and reply to literally everyone and everything.
Remember I appreciate you :D

So, wow I really and truly appreciate ALL the feedback I have gotten and I encourage MORE!
So if you have something you'd like to add, go here: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/7309352/
I'm getting lots of neat comments about me and about my art and I really love it :)
Something I DO want to bring up: Why I closed commissions this year.
At the start of the year you probably saw (or didn't) that I released a base pack then closed off commissions. And one of the comments I received on the journal linked actually hit spot on with WHY I closed commissions :)
I initially joined this fandom because I loved the art aspect and wanted to improve myself on my own work, make friends, ect. But I moved so far away from the personal aspect of it and made it more about the business. And I feel like I let myself down a little bit. I wanted to have fun. Drawing for myself, and others. I have SO much fun drawing for others. Which is why I do things like the funbox and the base pack :)
BUT I also miss drawing for myself! And with that I say this:
I want YOUR input! What characters of mine would you like to see drawn this year???
My characters:
Amelia, Erika, Freckles (raichu), Kiki, Lexa, Mimi, Nara (catgirl), Paint Pallet and Zero Gravity (ponies), Pumpkin Spice, Sandy, Sherbert (pastel pup), Tessa, Tsunami, Vivianna, Wysper (grey hyena)
(Keep in mind that Erika, although she will always be my main, has been set to the side temporarily. Does not mean I will not draw her)
If you don't know which character is which, You can go here: http://www.furaffinity.net/gallery/...../123643/My-OCs
I really want to bring joy to not only you all, my watchers, but also myself, the artist.
I also plan on drawing my male characters (Wysper, Freckles) more often because 1) I need to work on male figures and 2) My gallery is FULL of estrogen lmao
So comment away!

So I would love to know FA, what do you dislike most? What can I improve on? I am surely open to criticism no matter how harsh, so long as it isn't intended just to be pure, unnecessary hateful banter (yes there is a difference)
Any comments saying things like "the only thing I don't like about your art is that there isn't more of it!" Or "there's nothing I don't like about you/your art" will be ignored and/or potentially removed if they're blatantly not respecting my request for constructive feedback.

Posted 11 years agoTaken from
pita-tenten
Some of the best advice ever given to any artist ever. I promise this will help a lot with your career as an artist.
P.S. If you like this advice, I suggest you save it somewhere else, because I'm very notorious for deleting journals.
P.S.2. If you don't want to read the whole thing, just read the bold parts.
1: "Make sure you do it now, or else future you will get mad at past you for screwing you over!" -Bill Galvin
I was in a comic book internship a few years ago, and this is what the dude said. :D It's also why I have a thicker lineart style. By the way, this dude has a comic book series called Scrapyard Detectives! You should check it out. :D
2: Learn to draw before stylizing your work! -Unknown.
I read some article somewhere, and the dude said that. :D
3: Don't be afraid to fail. -Arnold Schwarzennegger.
Not necessarily art advice, but it's true. If you want to be an artist, you have to be prepared to fail millions of times. If you can't handle failure, people critiquing your work, rude people, impatient people, then you better not even think about being an artist as a profession (Have fun with it in your spare time though.)
4: If you don't practice for one day, you'll know. If you don't practice for ten days, your friends and family will know. If you don't practice for one hundred days, everybody will know. -Some character from Princess Tutu (I think)
It's very true. You have to practice everyday to become good at anything! But especially art. You have to work and build your craft constantly until you achieve your goal, then you have to work even harder to keep pushing forward, and for people to still be interested in what you do.
5: In order to achieve glory, you must practice the basics. -Some character from Princess Tutu.
Being an artist can sort of be repetitive. You're drawing animals all the time, or humans, or furries, or monsters, etc. So if you always draw those, then you must learn how to draw the basics correctly. Practice circles, squares, triangles cylinders, any shape that's common in the body. If you learn how to draw it correctly in the first beginning, then it will save you a lot of trouble in the long run.
6: If you want to make a living doing what you want to do, you need to first get your name out there. -Slugbox.
Build a following. You cannot become famous over night. It takes a large amount of followers, and your art has to be appealing enough to get commissioners. Since it may take a really long time, start small. Do free art for people. Free art, trades, etc. Once your name is out there, then you pray that people like your art enough to commission you. However, it may be really hard. Some people have enough success that they can make a living off of just a few hundred watchers. For most people however, they need thousands of watchers just to barely scrape by. On furaffinity, you can't really make a living until you have around five thousand followers, and even then you'll struggle. On deviantart, the amount to make a living may be the same, or it may be even more.
7: If you want to sell yourself, let go of your pride. -Slugbox.
You do NOT have to let go of ALL of it, but you should be willing to draw all kinds of things. A lot of artists refuse to draw certain things because they don't know HOW to draw it. Learn to draw basically everything. Humans, males, females, children, furries, ponies, monsters, nature, cheese, etc. You have to expand your art in every way. If you broaden what you can do, and are willing to do, so more people are willing to follow you. HOWEVER! Even if you let go of your pride, make sure you have some left. If you don't want to draw adult oriented art, then don't. Just try and keep yourself open to most ideas.
8: Have a backup plan. -Mom.
Art is extremely hard to succeed in, even with the many jobs an artist can get nowadays. Think about another possible job/career, and try to succeed in that as well in case your art life doesn't get a chance to fly off.
9: Understand your market. -Mom.
If you're trying to sell Ice cream in to someone who hates sugary cold things, you're most likely going to end up with melted ice cream in your hand. If you want to attract Naruto fans to you, then draw Naruto fanart. If you want bronies/Pegasisters to come to you, draw pony art.
10: Be True to Your Art. -Every Artist I've Ever talked to Ever.
Just because you need to let go of some of your pride for art, you don't need to get rid of all of it! And if you feel other artists are influencing yours too much, then take a break from them, and allow yourself to grow. Art is about finding yourself, your style, what you want. If you lose that, you can never truly succeed. Stay true to who you are, and what you like to draw.
11: Be Nice to Everyone, but Don't be a Pushover.
Art is a very hard career. You have to deal with people who either aren't certain at what they want, or they're bad at communicating what they want, or they're a little too specific and test your patience. Remember to take it slow with everyone. Some people may be difficult to deal with, and you may have to give them a refund or something if they're too difficult. Just handle everything in a calm and adult like manner.
Also, some people want free art, and get extremely angry if you do not give them what they want, and some will even take it so far as to pester you for it. Well don't give them free art. Calmly tell them that you're not going to give them anything, and if you need to explain yourself why you won't. However, you have every right to not explain why you won't give them free art. If they continue to pester you for it, do NOT feel bad if you have to block them.
12: Post you art Everywhere!
It's best to try and build a following everywhere. You never know who will find your art and be interested in what you do! So post everywhere, and build a following in all kinds of places!
13: Try different Styles.
You never know what interesting things you might like to draw that you didn't draw before. You may adore drawing insects, but you didn't know you did until you tried drawing in the same style as someone who does draw them. You may also discover you enjoy using bright vibrant colors! Trying new things in art will help you grow!
14: Draw from life.
This will definitely help you get better the fastest out of every way there is to get better at art. It can also help you increase your speed. Please remember, that this is the best way to grow quickly, it will still take years of practice to be great at art.
15: Never give up.
Art is hard in every aspect, but if it's something you seriously want to do, and it truly makes you happy, then continue to strive for it! If you get stressed, take a break. There's nothing wrong with taking some time for yourself. Everyone in this world needs a change of pace from time to time. Remember that you have friends and family who care about you, and what you do. They're cheering for you, probably even more than you're cheering for yourself. If you're having a hard time, just go talk to them. Just keep pressing forward, and you will achieve your goal.
OSCILI BIO-Open Species
Posted 11 years ago⚓
BIO:
Name: Oscili (Esperanto for Oscillate, or Levitate)
Genus: Canis Apatelos (Deceptive Canine)
About: Oscili almost always look like a canine that was thrown in the dryer. Fluffy. Their fur is dangerous to the touch because their fur releases sparks due to static electricity built up. *can take form of any species to deceive prey. Must stay fluffy*
They levitate due to static and "bracelets" around their "ankles" and "wrists". They are always in feral form, never anthro.
They have a gem in their forehead the same colour as their bracelets that glows when they feed.
When threatened, their fur spikes up and excess static electricity is released from all over the body (like pikachu's cheeks)
When relaxed, their fur relaxes and their "bracelets" glow because of electricity build up.
Bracelets may be any color, and always glow when Oscili is relaxing/sleeping
Food: Oscili do not eat regular food. They feed off the energy of other living creatures, making them a dangerous predator. They are never the prey.
The gem in their forehead glows when they feed, and only when they feed, never when they are relaxing or sleeping.
By taking the energy from other creatures, they kill the other creatures
Transformation - disguising:
They can disguise themselves to look "normal", hiding their bracelets and gem, leaving only colored markings. Disguising themselves this way makes it easier to prey on other creatures by making them look vulnerable.
They can also make themselves look smaller/younger to attract bigger predators.
They can not change form any other way.
More info:
In the same way they take life from other creatures, they can give life - in the same way a pikachu can transfer energy from it's cheeks to power an electrical circuit
When they take the energy from a living being, they take 5 years of extra life (they live for 5 more years than they normally would) making them essentially immortal.
Although they are technically immortal, they CAN die.
When Oscili have successfully taken another life force, they have the option to shift their body to look like that species. It can be literally any species (**not another artists closed species, that is the exception**)
Their "true" form is unidentifiable since they are forever changing. (Believed to look similar to this: **GORE AND SCARY WARNING** this shit is from the 1982 The Thing. Freaky shit, look at your own risk: http://i1.ytimg.com/vi/JVgqhPqHPa4/.....resdefault.jpg , http://thecinemamonster.files.wordp...../2013/08/1.jpg , http://i1.ytimg.com/vi/NtgFKdWcKXY/.....resdefault.jpg)
^^^YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED^^^
Tails: they CAN have "monster" tails for camo purposes (like a butterfly has on it's wings)
Face:
They have a regular animal face - eyes, ears, nose,, mouth, whiskers, etc.
Do NOT come in contact with whiskers, that will release a fatal amount of electricity to you.
Mating:
They mate like any other species.
All males are normal sized, no overly sized members. Ever.
And that's all there is to know about Oscili~ ⚓

Reminder: This is mostly my benefit. If you don't want to read you don't have to~ <3
ERIKA: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/13178057/

Mood: usually chipper, rarely seen as sad
About: Erika is cautious and doesn't trust everyone. It takes a lot for her to trust because she's been hurt by so many people. She does have a dark side, a dangerous one. Erika is me, and changes as me. She is a shape shifter who shifts from her caline form to a mouse or a fruit bat. Erika has my scars piercings and tattoo
Music: basically anything but rap/hip hop
Favorite foods: ice cream, Doritos, vanilla coke
Dislikes: shoes, most seafood, crowds
AMELIA: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/13701815/
Species: Saber Tooth Tiger, Dingo hybrid

If it weren't for her, they wouldn't survive through the war. The armies from the Eastern world descended and she went into hiding. Taking in anyone who was in need and quietly building her army. She has no military background, but she knows how to survive, and that's enough for everyone.
Music: She doesn't get much time for music.
Favorite foods: When she has the chance to eat, she loves fruits and some meats, although she usually only gets some bread

THIS IS NOT MINE I DO NOT CLAIM TO HAVE WRITTEN IT! Here is the original source;
http://phantom42.tumblr.com/post/78.....k-to-an-artist
and the artist who posted it here: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/...../#cid:39007039
Feel free to re-blog it on your Tumblr too! (I sure did!)
Sharing it here because I feel it is important and quite professional.
Agree, disagree, whatever. This is just how I personally feel on the matter;
"Don’t tell an artist, “SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!" or "I would totally buy that!" if you’re not ready and/or willing to back it up with an actual purchase. Artists love that you love the piece, but often produce pieces/quantities based on apparent interest and potential customers. Gauges of potential buyers and gauges of general interest are both very important, but they are very different.
Do tell an artist that you love the piece. Just be honest about it. It’s OK if it’s out of your price range. It’s OK if you have no practical use or place for a piece. Most artists get the warm fuzzies just from honest compliments even if you’re not going to be a paying customer.
Don’t assume that every message to an artist is going to get a response. Most artists read every message they get, but don’t always have time to respond to everything.
Do give the artist some time to respond. Some artists get a lot of messages and have to balance their time responding with their workload and still make time to be a person and have a life outside of art.
Don’t comment on a piece telling the artist how much it reminds you of some other artist’s work or other character (unless you’re calling them out on a blatant copyright violation). In your mind, you may see it as a compliment. You loved the art style in some movie, and this seems similar to you - you’re complimenting this artist, right?! The artist may have been influenced by that same work, but most are consciously aiming to evolve from that influence. Just as it’s dangerous to tell someone that you notice that they look good after losing some weight (“What, I didn’t look good before?!” or “No, I haven’t. Do I normally look fat?!”), not everyone sees this as a compliment.
Do be specific about compliments. “I really like the pose” or “This really captures the movement well.”
Don’t tell an artist what they should do next. “This is awesome! You should do this other character next!” The only people artists need to take instructions from are themselves and paying customers.
Do politely tell the artist what subjects you might like to see. There’s a big difference in tone between, “Do my favorite character next!” and “I would love to see more art along these lines, possibly of this character.”
Don’t tell artists how to use their tools or materials better. You don’t know what they’ve tried or what they do. They may have tried it and it didn’t work. Lots of ideas sound good in our heads or on paper, and don’t work out as well in reality.
Do ask artists how they use their tools or materials. Ask if they’ve tried it your way. Offer informed insight. This boils down to attitude and tone. Bad: “Do this instead.” Good: After a conversation leading to it, “have you tried doing this instead?”
Don’t assume or expect artists to share their tricks, techniques, sources of materials or services with you. Some are open; some are guarded. There is no right, and no wrong. They don’t owe you anything. Most sources of materials or services are near the top of the page if you do a simple web search.
Do be gracious and actually respond if they answer your question about tricks, techniques, sources, or services. If they took the time to answer your question about something, a minimum of “Thank you.” is in order
Don’t ask for freebies, or free/spec work. For many artists, art isn’t a hobby - it’s their living. They don’t have time to make you free art. We’re all very sure that your new game/book/comic/restaurant/store really is going to be the next big thing. Part of building a business the right way is properly valuing your talent and assets - that includes the artists you hire - “hire” being the operative word. Exposure is great. Food on the table is even better.
Do contact artists with well thought out opportunities that acknowledge and value their time, skill, and effort. Just understand that they may not be as passionate about your project as you are.
Don’t be a creeper or be inappropriate. Just because you’ve gotten a response to an email or comment, or because you’ve purchased something from an artist, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re BFF’s now. Being friendly is not the same as being friends. Until you’re friends, a general rule would be to not say anything that would be inappropriate to say to any random person on the street.
Do be conscious of boundaries. Be polite, complete your transactions or interactions, and move along.
Don’t come across like a five year-old (unless you are one). No one is expecting your message to read like a Pulitzer winning story, but thoughts should be mature and cohesive. Proper grammar and punctuation go a long way.
Do proofread your messages before you hit post/send. If you’re dealing with an artist in person, pause for a moment and think about what you’re about to say - and don’t ever be a creeper or inappropriate.
Don’t ask if you can ask a question. This tip is brought you by the Department of Redundancy Department.
Do check the artist’s FAQ and relevant descriptions if applicable. If your question has not already been answered, just ask it.
Don’t automatically assume that the artist knows as much about your favorite fandom as you do. Artists often know just enough about a subject to complete a piece.
Do express your love for your favorite character or fandom, just remember that you may be the only one who shares the love.
Don’t ask why a piece of art “costs that much”. A piece of art is not the end product of just the time and materials to create a piece. It is a result and sum total of the artist’s career as an artist as they learn and hone their skills, as well as the materials and time spent creating that particular piece.
Do ask how much an available piece costs (assuming that the price isn’t already listed. You looked right?)
Don’t tell an artist you “wish [you] could afford this.” Most artists see this as a passive-aggressive complaint about their prices, which are usually under priced to begin with. If you can’t afford a piece, that’s on you, not the artist.
Do begin saving up for a piece if you’re honestly interested in it, or contact the artist about getting a custom piece done in the future.
Don’t ask how much another customer paid for a custom piece of art. The price charged to the previous customer was the agreed upon price at the time. It is possible, and even likely, that the price will be different. Artists learn something new with almost every piece they do. What took 10 hours the first time may only take 8 hours the next. But an artist’s hourly rate may have gone up. Prices of materials may have changed. The cost to produce a piece varies constantly. Plus, it’s just a little gauche.
Do ask if prints are available (after checking the description, of course)."
