"A cannabis company that baked an 850-pound pot brownie as a publicity stunt is touting the treat as the largest ever made.
MariMed Inc. unveiled the enormous edible this week to celebrate the launch of its new brand, Bubby’s Baked.
A team of bakers in Massachusetts spent weeks planning how to create the grassy goodie, which measures 3 feet wide, 3 feet long and 15 inches tall and contains 20,000mg of THC.
“There were five to six people that were really focused on this brownie for several weeks,” Ryan Crandall, MariMed’s chief product officer and senior vice president of sales, told NBC 10 News on Wednesday.
The company’s new product, Bubby’s Baked edibles, each contains 5mg of THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol, the main psychoactive compound in cannabis.
MariMed officials told WJAR-Channel 10 that they weren’t 100% sure what they were going to do with the massive brownie now that it’s been baked."
Um.....
Any volunteers?

We welcome a New Food Group!
Posted 4 years agoFrom Chris, your bacon loving mod:
Since
is more or less defunct (I've honestly not seen them post anything on their page in ages) a new group has stepped up to take their place, as it were -
They are MatchaFurs, or
which is a group that highlights dishes made with tea (or even fursonas that are tea-related) and preferably those that have Matcha, the green tea from Japan.
We hope you folks give them a watch and encourage their growth, and perhaps we can do a new challenge -
What would you be able to make with tea (other than the drink)? And perhaps, a tea-infused meal for breakfast, lunch or dinner (and yes, even dessert)?
How about it folks, lets give it a shot!

With that, I would like to personally apologize to, and also thank the admins for their help in this matter.
However...if its not pushing it...I would like some kind of list or "cheat sheet" of words / phrases that trigger the anti-spam system! (So THAT way, I avoid that kind of thing in the first place)
I mean, if I knew that FA was so easily "triggered"....sheesh :P
If it was only that way for people showing feet...or scat *blegh* or etc....just Saiyan' :p :p :p

Well, I will thank
for this since we did repost his $ 3 soup meal not that long ago.
And lets face it, us furries are individuals with about as much money as The Tramp would have back in the day :p
SO: That said, how much can you make a meal for $ 10.00...$ 5.00...or less?
You get bonus points if you are able to feed more than yourself!
How about it folks, who would be interested?

....Well, I think its time to lighten things up a bit, especially after *coughs* the last journal :B
So let's have a new food challenge, based on the board game "Clue" ! (also I recommend the movie with Tim Curry and the rest, it is hilarious)
Mr. Boddy: Is your main ingredient. Whether it is meat, fish, chicken, or even a vegetable, that is who gets "murdered" for your dish.
Colonel Mustard: You use anything mustard related. The seed, the powder, yellow, dijon, honey, spicy, etc.
Mrs Peacock: Since she is represented by blue, you are allowed blueberries, blue potatoes, or any related blue ingredient.
Mr. Green: Again any ingredient that is green; wasabi, pesto, spinach, peas/edamame, kale, etc.
Miss Scarlet: A red ingredient: beets, cranberries, currants, etc.
Mrs. White: A white ingredient - white cheddar, milk, white chocolate, white truffle, and so on :)
Dr. Orchid: This is a new character in the game, but I would like this to be your own special ingredient.
You can always save this as a special "reveal" and have us guess as to what this ingredient is :B
Please note you not have to do ALL of these ingredients in your dish as...er...the palate (and your plate) can only take on so much :P
How about it folks, who would like to give this a try?

In all of my years, I have never...and I mean, ever...seen a moment where murder is compared to making cookies.
And as someone who loves cooking as much I do, this hits on a very personal note.
Yes, I will submit that this was a series of events, that led to a preventable tragedy. This kind of comparison however....just leaves a very bad taste in my mouth (and not just from not following the recipe, or burning the cookies in general and so on.).
That's all from me.
Update: Mr Chauvin has been found guilty on all 3 counts so yes, one -could- say justice was served, BUT....
We still have a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong way to go when it comes to reforming our justice system, our policing and use of force, racial profiling, etc etc etc!

Oxburgh Hall: Chocolate commissioned 121 years ago found in Boer War helmet case
Eoin McSweeney, CNN 17 mins ago
From sugary-sweet eggs to luxury chocolate truffles, Easter is a time many will be exchanging treats with their loved ones.
But maybe check the expiration date on the box, just to make sure it was made in this century.
Chocolate commissioned by Queen Victoria 121 years ago has been found in its original packaging in a Boer War helmet case in Norfolk, eastern England.
British confectionery giants Cadbury, Fry and Rowntrees manufactured chocolate batches in 1900 to boost morale for soldiers fighting in the Second Boer War in South Africa, although it's not certain which company made this particular tin.
The bar and helmet belonged to the 8th Baronet Henry Edward Paston-Bedingfeld, who fought in the war, said the National Trust in a press release this week.
Staff and members of Paston-Bedingfeld's family found the tin of chocolate in the attic of the conservation charity's Oxburgh Hall among the possessions of his daughter, Frances Greathead, who died last year aged 100.
She was "instrumental" in rescuing the moated 539-year-old building from being sold at auction in 1951 before donating it to the National Trust along with her mother Sybil and cousin Violet.
"It's fully intact but deteriorated a bit now. You can still see a brownish color, but it's not very appetizing for Easter," the property's curator, Lynsey Coombs, told CNN Thursday.
"He may have wanted to keep it as a memento from the Queen or just forgot about it... Or he may have just not liked chocolate," she added.
Coombs said Cadbury, Fry and Rowntree initially refused to brand the chocolate because they were pacifist Quakers who opposed the war in South Africa.
Eventually they caved to Queen Victoria's request and produced 100,000 tins, many of which the soldiers preserved, she added.
The tins, inscribed with messages from the monarch who ruled between 1837 and 1901, each held half a pound of chocolate, said the National Trust.
The British Empire and independent Boer states fought two wars in South Africa, the second of which is commonly known as the Boer War, according to the National Archives. It lasted from 1899 to 1902 and famous fighters include former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill and Sherlock Holmes author Arthur Conan Doyle.
Founded in 1895, the National Trust looks after more than 500 historic sites spanning 248,000 hectares. The chocolate and helmet have not been put on display yet, but the charity plans to do so in the future.
For now, curators have wrapped the chocolate in acid-free tissue and stored it in a space with a stable temperature and humidity so that it might last another 100 years, said Coombs.

Food In Focus: About Your Restaurants

Since it is still important to support your local restaurant during this pandemic,
has this idea for a journal!
"I feel like a good way to contribute is a journal idea, and i have a rather pressing question for the group.
when you look for a good restaurant, excluding yelp and other review sites, what do you look for?
I mean what signs do you look for that mean that it's a good restaurant? like how a run down restaurant that is packed with customers means that not only is their food good but it's good enough to have stayed open for a long time. a good atmosphere, friendly service, a menu full of cool things you've never tried before but others around you can totally recommend, that sort of thing.
I'd be interested to not only hear what others say but maybe even hear some stories about restaurant experiences as well, cause god knows I love a good story.
also along the same note, what warning signs do they look for that say that a restaurant is no good? horror stories are just as fun sometimes."
Also feel free to put in your favorite restaurants / food places / food trucks here!

"During the weekend of March 19-22, during Furnal Equinox’s Pixel Purrfect virtual convention, Dark Bunny Sauces will be doing something it has never done before.
As I have a day job to do on Friday, this “event” will start on Friday when I get home from work. This won’t be a panel you can attend, nor will this be video or streaming event – though I *may* open up a stream near the end on Sunday (if I figure out how to).
DARK BUNNY SAUCES PRESENTS:
LET’S BUILD A SAUCE!
As it stands, I currently have plenty of hot peppers languishing in the freezer, a whole cupboard of spices, several grocery stores in close-ish proximity, and a shelf full of various vinegars. And I have to say that of all the fandoms I have interacted with over the years, ours is the most creative. So here’s what’s going to happen:
Starting at about 5pm on the 19th I will be turning on the crock pot. It’s a very nice crock pot that was actually bought for FE many many many years ago to make poutine.
I will provide a page for people to visit and to vote on the next ingredient. Over the course of Friday night, Saturday and Sunday morning ingredients will be added to the crock pot and slow cooked over the weekend.
Possible ingredients will NOT include meat or dairy products (for food safety reasons).
Sunday afternoon will come the blending, final cook and bottling.
The sauce, whatever Frankensteinian creation it may become, will be available for sale the entire weekend. DBS will keep $3 of each bottle sold to cover minimal costs of the materials and shipping. But ALL OTHER SALES TOTALS WILL BE DONATED TO THE CONVENTION CHARITY. Yes, you heard that correctly.
Bottles will sell as follows:
59ml: $12
250ml: $26
Understand that this will be a one-shot sauce. YOU will decide how hot it gets by voting on the next ingredients. YOU will decide what goes in next. I may take a few liberties to ensure it doesn’t taste like eating a handful of dirt, but aside from that, this will be the exclusive FE2021 sauce. Super limited batch. And, if there’s too much being added don’t worry – I have a second crock pot.
Are you game?
Dark Bunny Sauces accepts no responsibility for the outcome of the product beyond its edibility. All ingredients will be added according to the will of the fandom. Combining chocolate and Worcester sauce is not recommended. All funds save the afore mentioned $3/bottle will be donated to the convention and charity."

About Advertising (Semi-Rant)
Posted 4 years agoFrom Chris:
First, let me start by saying that I have absolutely NO issues about advertising your product, whether it is something like sauces from
, chocolate from
or anything from anyone else as long as they/you let us know or politely ask me through a note.
BUT
I have a very, very low tolerance for people that just up and put their product they want to sell, as a comment on ANYONE'S dishes. It has nothing to do with the dish itself, it is disrespectful to the person who made the dish, and it is unnecessary spamming. (...Even if we have done a "spam" challenge on our end, I mean, c'mon man :P)
So if you happen to be a "bot", after the second time you make a "advertising comment" on a submission, I will block you, no ifs ands or scaly butts!
The mod has spoken! >_<

New FACCC Challenges: Valentines Day or Iron Chef
Posted 4 years agoFrom Chris, your BACON loving moderator:
Since this past year has been a rollercoaster and a half for all of us, I thought it was time to take our minds off things and start off with two different challenges (and you can choose either one - or even both if you like, these are really just for fun after all)!
Yes folks, its getting near that time where you need to get those obligatory chocos, roses and all the rest to let your significant other know that you love them :B
But BEFORE that, perhaps a nice breakfast / lunch / dinner treat that they can enjoy, and you can share with the group?
Yes, its the -one- special ingredient that you can use that makes the dish itself, the best thing you and your guests will be able to enjoy!
And there is a twist to this challenge: Much like the Iron Chef show itself, plating, presentation, and creativity are ESSENTIAL here. (Though I will not impose a "time limit" to make the dish, unless you are really hardcore about that on your end :B)
Normally, I would not care how the dish is made as long as it was put on the plate to be eaten, but I think it is well past time that I tried to step up my own game, so I expect no less from you folks either!
~ You can use any kind of bread you like (and bonus points if you are able to make your own)
~ If you make a peanut butter + jelly sandwich and/or basic grilled cheese you will be DISQUALIFIED >_<

Ancient snack stall uncovered by archaeologists
Archaeologists in Pompeii, the city buried in a volcanic eruption in 79 AD, have made the extraordinary find of a frescoed hot food and drinks shop that served up the ancient equivalent of street food to Roman passersby.
A graffiti covered wall: It is the first time such a stand has been entirely uncovered.© Luigi Spina/Parco Archeologico di Pompei via AP It is the first time such a stand has been entirely uncovered.
Known as a termopolium, Latin for hot drinks counter, the shop was discovered in the archaeological park's Regio V site, which is not yet open the public, and unveiled on Saturday.
Traces of nearly 2,000-year-old food were found in some of the deep terra cotta jars containing hot food which the shop keeper lowered into a counter with circular holes.
The front of the counter was decorated with brightly colored frescoes, some depicting animals that were part of the ingredients in the food sold, such as a chicken and two ducks hanging upside down.
"This is an extraordinary find. It's the first time we are excavating an entire termopolium," said Massimo Ossana, director of the Pompeii archaeological park.
Archaeologists also found a decorated bronze drinking bowl known as a patera, ceramic jars used for cooking stews and soups, wine flasks and amphora.
Pompeii, 23 km (14 miles) southeast of Naples, was home to about 13,000 people when it was buried under ash, pumice pebbles and dust as it endured the force of an eruption equivalent to many atomic bombs.
"Our preliminary analyses shows that the figures drawn on the front of the counter, represent, at least in part, the food and drink that were sold there," said Valeria Amoretti, a site anthropologist.
Amoretti said traces of pork, fish, snails and beef had been found in the containers, a discovery she called a "testimony to the great variety of animal products used to prepare dishes."
About two-thirds of the 66-hectare (165-acre) ancient town has been uncovered. The ruins were not discovered until the 16th century and organized excavations began about 1750.
A rare documentation of Greco-Roman life, Pompeii is one of Italy's most popular attractions and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Just spotted this rather interesting news story from CNN !

Ancient snack stall uncovered by archaeologists
Archaeologists in Pompeii, the city buried in a volcanic eruption in 79 AD, have made the extraordinary find of a frescoed hot food and drinks shop that served up the ancient equivalent of street food to Roman passersby.

Some News~
Posted 5 years agoHello everyone!
here. I have some exciting news. There is now a Food/Recipes category when submitting Food Pictures to FA! So if you all remember feel free to start using that instead of Photography! Hopefully this also entices new people to find our group!
**********
From Chris: I would like to personally thank
for helping our group with this function!
Should there be any other furs that love to cook, we would love to hear from you (and add your recipes to our group as well!)

Food In Focus: An FACCC2 Cookbook?
Posted 5 years agoFrom
your bacon loving moderator:
sent me this note, and I will not deny that this idea has been discussed once or twice during our time on FA!
"I figure, until my recipe book is...fully uploaded, I'll make sure to share what i make. hopefully i don't forget and reupload...
wait. inspiration!
how bout..if anyone uploads 10 recipes and shares to FACCC then FACCC will open a new folder and start adding in every recipe they add to said folder! call them "Cookbooks"
it'd add a little work, but if all you do, is create a bunch of folders, and save them to a folder, that shouldn't be much per image, right? or weekly organize the new submissions? *Ponder*"
What do you think folks, should we start making our own "cookbook" for FA?
~ Should we also include our favorite recipes from past efforts as well (FACCC or ~FACCC2) ?
Let's hear back from you folks!

I'm back!
Posted 5 years agoHello everyone, for those that don't know me I am
I've been inactive from here for quite some time. Why? Well number one reason in January I moved from Pennsylvania all the way down to Florida! So it took a while for me to get settled in and used to the new routine. Then I got a job at Universal Studios here in Orlando~ Then as we all know the Covid-19 Pandemic started and Florida was 'shut down' until the beginning of June. During that time I kept myself busy with other things, so I do feel bad for not keeping active in this group. However I've been creating and testing a lot of different things and i hope to share everything with you soon! Hope everyone is staying safe during this time and also I'm very happy to be back!

Food In Focus: Furry Food Makers II
Posted 5 years agoWe received this note from
and we hope you folks will check this out!
"I figured no harm in ask but I have some food themed acrylic charms that are going to be made. I wanted to know if this page would want to help promote them. There is a kickstarter and twitter. I would only ask for a post or journal to help get the word out. I think they are very cute designs and I do not have the network to share them yet. So I am here trying to build a network to let more people be able to find these.

A bit more information: The designs are by a small artist I found on discord. I started working with them and purchased copyright of some of their design to make into charms. They are unable to do so themselves since they live in a small town in Romania.
Thank you for your time and I understand if you do not wish to post! Keeping a page in theme can be important.
-Lily Fie
Sorry if this feels like spam!! I just really love your whole food page and it is always making me hungry as I go through my submissions. I thought that asking your page was fitting to the theme of the charms."
And remember, these lucky charms are magically delicious! :p (Though you really can't eat them :P :P)

Not sure how many of you folks have these in your back pocket, but I thought this would be an interesting / helpful journal!
~ For removing tree sap from skin, rub your hands with olive oil for a minute or two, and then wash off with soap and cold water.
(You can also use toothpaste or peanut butter as well)
~ For a cough, honey is the best thing (there is also a honey and garlic remedy from
here as well)

That's for skin, of course...
Anyone else care to add in anything?
