weeks, my comp had a virus, and keeled over before I had
a chance to activate the AVG. No need to say I was screwed
eight ways from Sunday right there. It asn't even an adult
site, either. It was a site seeded with malware that saying's
a AV program. Scam, pure and simple. Watch out, okay?
I am on a comp that is on loan my mom. Will get one of my own
immediately afterward.
In the meantime, I was trying not to freak out as I was trying to
post a seasonal strip.

Should the Internet be censored by government law?

The MPAA as well as Congress is trying to get a bill that censors the ENTIRE internet.
Here are the facts copied fron the site:

What bill are we talking about?
It's S. 3804, the Combating Online Infringement and Counterfeits Act (COICA), introduced by Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-VT) and Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-UT). It's currently being considered by the Senate Judiciary Committee.
What exactly does it do?
The bill creates two blacklists of Internet domain names. The first can be added to by a court, the second by the Attorney General. Internet service providers (everyone from Comcast to PayPal to Google AdSense) would be required to block any domains on the first list. They would also receive immunity (and presumably the government's gratitude) for blocking domains on the second list.
What kind of domains can go on the list?
The list is for domains "dedicated to infringing activity," which is defined very broadly — any site where counterfeit goods or copyrighted material are "central to the activity of the Internet site" would be blocked.
What's so bad about that?
Well, it means sites like YouTube could get censored in the US. Copyright holders like Viacom argue that copyrighted material is central to activity of YouTube. But under current US law, YouTube is perfectly legal as long as they take down copyrighted material when they're informed about it -- which is why Viacom lost their case in court. If this bill passes, Viacom doesn't even need to prove YouTube is doing anything illegal -- as long as they can persuade a court that enough other people are using it for copyright infringement, that's enough to get the whole site censored.
And even without a court order, sites can get blacklisted just by order of the Attorney General -- and the bill encourages ISPs to block those sites as well. ISPs have plenty of reason to obey a government blacklist even when they're not legally required.
Isn't the word censored a little overheated?
Not at all. In the US, the way things work is that if you're using the Internet to do something illegal, you're brought to court and the courts can shut you down. This bill would bypass that whole system by forcing Internet service providers to block access to sites that are otherwise up. People in other countries could still get to them, but Internet users in the US would be blocked. This kind of Internet censorship is exactly the sort of thing the US government has been criticizing China and Iran for -- just the other day, Obama told the UN that "We will support a free and open Internet." Now it turns out we're going to start censoring the Internet ourselves.
But it's just limited to copyright!
How long do you think that will last? Once the Attorney General has a system set up for censoring the Internet, everyone who has a problem with a website will want to get in on it. How long before it's expanded to block Wikileaks, pornography, gambling, anarchists, supposed terrorists, and anybody else the Attorney General doesn't like that day? If people are doing something illegal, the government should take them to court and shut them down -- not try to bypass due process by blocking their domain name.
Well, anything by anybody might be censored on the Internet. YouTube, Hulu, sites like this one... ANY WEB SITE.
Yes, even your FaceBook, MySpace, and the various other replicas are not immune to this. And even innocent places like ArtSpots are

It sounded like a scam to me, especially when words
"Unknown Caller" was on the Caller I.D. later on.
I heard him out, and said there was malicious hardware
on my computer, and he said to see if it was there I had to
connect my computer to his online one. Seriously.
I promptly turned him down. I knew better than to do so
because I'd make an ass of myself to do so, for that oh-
so-obvious reason.

At the same time I had put myself out of the running with Yahoo!
in their Personals section for that same reason.
Now... I hear this: Yahoo is closing the Personals section and sending

I had finally shoved every pic i had in my storage bin into a bunch of
8x11 envelopes, and had been doing so from time to time since March...
... and just found out that I had forty-six, yes, forty-six envelopes with
past art, incomplete art, and forgotten art.
HOLY CRAP.

3. Hypocritical Moral Crusaders! This goes from Jack Thompson to
Fred Phelps to Mr. Arpio down to many others. They can go straight to fuck.
4. IRL Interruptions! From the phone to my relatives. UGH.
5. Failure to keep my promises! That one is on me, and I'm
making a staunch effort to break this habit as this is typed out. WHY? Guilt is the
best motivator, if there ever was one.
I would put down more, but I have the last two commissions to get after ASAP

in town. A tricycle with a little flag and a basket in the back.
My cousin is a dickhead. Until he gets a JOB, he can't

·Some chippy bitch earlier this month at a place where I WAS considering
sending my artwork through told me I can send it cheaper
via USPS than UPS. I wanted it to get it there faster than the
motherfuckers over at the local USPS... not to mention what
I remembered about what happened to some guy who had
gotten some adult-based comics from Japan. Remember THAT?
I can see why some people do their business ONLINE.
The reason is TOO FUCKING OBVIOUS. She was not a people person
at the delivery service.
