June the 1st again...

Despite the riots, COVID-19, and the weariness of my job,
I just hope everyone will be safe and sound in case worse

Stay safe, okay?

I might be unemployed...
Posted 5 years agoToday, I had one morning that was as shitty as they came.
Not only that I had to work past my my checkout time, the supervisor had called
the boss on me. The boss gave orders that I had to follow, but the supervisor, after
REPEATEDLY TELLING HER that the grease trap pump was shot on the fryer, told me
that I couldn't leave until the grease was filtered.
I did everything I could but filtering the grease because of the aforementioned problem.
I quietly checked out and left.
Might as well say this, but that supervisor was a total ass-kisser, and couldn't care any
less about any maintenance personnel.
Why would she do so afterwards?

Too fast, too soon... time to face a hard fact.
Posted 5 years agoIf some folks INSIST on opening up so soon, I'll just have to
buy more masks and wear my bandana over it every day.
I've no choice but to think of my safety and that of my mom.

Posted 5 years agoLast week I was walking to the grocery store and wearing both
a mask and a bandana over it.
As I was walking along, this guy who wasn't wearing either has
the nerve to say to me:
"It's airborne, but it's not THAT airborne!!!
Putz.
If anyone has ever seen either seen "The Omega Man" or
"I Am Legend" (I saw a little of the latter), they'd know better.

Monkey see... hell no.
Posted 5 years agoThe boss had us close off the lobby and the dining room of the
Jack-in-the-Box I work at on Tuesday and the following days after.
Things were going fine, and even the walk-in customers had to go
to the drive-thru.
But, somebody wanted to do the "monkey see, monkey do"- kind
of business...
McDonald's decided to open their doors to let in the to-go customers
INSIDE THE BUILDING... causing the boss to try and do the same.
My team leader BALKED the the idea.
And I could not blame her in the least. She didn't want to catch COVID-19
and neither did I. The boss came from out of town and forgotten that where
she came from had two confirmed cases of coronavirus.
Why risk it?
This is where "keeping up with the Jones" has to take a backseat.
Nobody want to get infected, but putting others' lives at risk by playing
"monkey see, monkey do"...
...REALLY?!
The boss is NOT playing with a full deck.

Verdict on My LT...
Posted 5 years agoMy semi-used LT does not support DAZ Studio 4.x... DRAT!!!
It'll support the 2.10 GIMP but not DAZ. Nor my scanner.
Aw man...
Since my scanner and DAZ Studio won't run on my semi-used LT
that I got at the local computer store, the only good it will do is
browsing the net, editing my art, and chatting.
My Acer Aspire One does the work with DAZ Studio and runs the
scanner for my GIMP.
Why? Because my Acer has OpenGL high enough to run DAZ and other
3D programs.
No further explanations needed.
So, I'm still keeping it.

Posted 5 years agoLooks like my SeaMonkey and other browsers on my Win XP are kaput.
Luckily for me, I had bought a semi-used LT with WIN10 installed on it
with my tax return money.
I can still run my scanner, run GIMP, Audacity, and chat on the MUCKs
on my old computer until I can migrate the rest of my stuff onto my
other computer.
But getting used to the updates on this thing is gonna take some getting
used to, personally.

Time to prime myself...
Posted 5 years agoWell, I have been off my game ever since I started working, but I'm making myself
draw and forcing myself to do so because of it.
I'm having an art trade with somebody who contacted me and I am doing it to
get out of this rut I've gotten myself into.
I wish everyone a lot of luck and love.

Dumb move, Dude.
Posted 5 years agoEver since March 2019, I have been working at this burger joint as a maintenance man,
working at minimum wage/4hrs a day/5 days a week/pay every 2 weeks.
In the past weeks, the Main Manager had me work off-schedule with no discernible
time frame for my duties, so I got up at 4am, walked to my job, clocked in (with a some
help), worked my 4 hours, then went home.
My mom and my brother raised Cain over the issue, which I asked politely to put me
back on the schedule.
They finally did, due to some technicality from the higher-ups.
Unfortunately, the Main Manager decided to do some "selective trimming"
of my schedule.
Instead of working at minimum wage/4hrs a day/5 days a week/pay every 2 weeks,
I'm working at minimum wage/3hrs a day/2 days a week/pay every 2 weeks.
I just know THIS will bite him on the ass as well.

Goodbye, Uncle.

Wow--- What are the odds?!
Posted 6 years agoThis morning the the Main Manager took off.
He left me and the assistant manager to fend for ourselves.
She had to close the lobby, but operated the drive-through.
I did my duties as best as I could, but I lent a hand in making coffee, making tea,
filtering and changing the grease, and handling inventory because she had to handle
both cooking and cashier's work, which was really tough on her because we both
were understaffed, and to make matters worse, no food was prepared ahead for the day.
I prepped the chicken nuggets (after the assistant manager asked nicely... and she did!)
and prepped the egg rolls, too.
Though the lobby was closed, I let a kid go in so he could go to the bathroom.
He thanked me graciously.
Well into the eleven o'clock, the cavalry (two other workers) came to save the day.
Unburdened, I washed the dishes and washed the walls down.
The assistant manager thanked me for going the extra mile in my duties.
Man, I hope that never happens again with the manager bailing on us... even
if he did work overnight.
I gotta put my aching ankles to rest. Whew.

Disgusted
Posted 6 years agoAs bad as today went at work, I wish I were fired
just to collect my unemployment checks. I am just
thoroughly disgusted with working at that place
with that asshole assistant manager.
I don't mind the other folks, but the assistant
manager, ugh. She's all friendly to everyone
else on the crew, but me as a janitor, all bets
are off.
I can't wait for the store near my home to open
and I can get a job there.
I rather work as a stocker than a mop jockey at
a fast food place that is falling apart.
And the tin-pot dictator that minds the store.

Goodbye, good neighbor.
Posted 6 years agoI just got news that my neighbor has passed away.
He was a good guy to talk to, and get a ride with.
One time he even contemplated moving to where his sister's home
was several miles away.
Cancer took that plan away from him, along with his life.
I hope that you, who have great neighbors or good neighbors,
be a big person and make friends with them.
Be good to each other, ya hear?

It sounds like a song by The Clash...
Posted 6 years agoWhen it comes to my job at the fast food place, it DOES
sound like that song by the Clash:
Should I stay or should I go?
Lately, it's been so many bosses and not enough workers, especially
when I am the maintenance man, everyone being overly mindful about
my job... and griping about MY duties.
I might as well get ready to give them my two weeks notice.
If they want raise sand about it, they can cram it up their collective asses.
Some jobs just aren't worth the bullshit given.

Dumped On by Imelda
Posted 6 years agoLast week, I had to walk to work during the deluge known as Tropical Depression Imelda.
TWICE.
The guy I usually ride with was bed-ridden due to arthritis. Understandable because I have two
arthritic ankles from a bike accident.
However, my cousin, to whom I called, was not available due to some reason or another.
Two days in a row.
I had to get a ride on the third day with a co-worker... who was my manager.
I am just glad that the storm has passed and is over with.
I doubt anyone had to deal with this shit... but then again, I don't know.
I am just glad the storm's all over.

Running nothin'
Posted 6 years agoThe reason why I don't bother with my Facebook account isn't about
NATIONAL politics, but OFFICE politics, especially when it concerns
work at my job-site.
And PRIVACY.
This one individual thinks she can run the show better than the boss,
but she can't.
I'm sure you, the reader, have had your share of these individuals on
your job-site who act just like that, and you need these people like
you need hand or foot injuries.
Ugh.
I wouldn't be surprised if she tried to friend me on Facebook.
HELL NO.
I'd rather friend my family and REAL FRIENDS than her.
Or keep NOT USING FACEBOOK.
Simple as that.

Posted 6 years agoI have been working this job for some time, and, in some way or
another, I had my off-days gradually trimmed away.
Especially when it concerned my maintenance duties and unloading
the supply truck on certain days Thursday.
This week, I had my Monday off-day cut out by someone writing the
schedule because that particular person felt that a maintenance man
should not have any off-days, or so that fool thought.
But when I was asked by the team leader (who couldn't care to lead
or do ANYTHING that COUNTS to be a leader) asked me if I work on a
Sunday to unload the truck, I answered NO.
Then the boss (who was here at the time) asked WHY I said no.
I told her I don't work on weekends.
Reasons why?
I could have told her that nobody would lend a hand with unloading the
pallets of food and supplies for the restaurant because that was the way
they are, not willing to help, and too eager to ask me for help.
Simply stated, a whole lot of chiefs and one Indian.
I did say sometimes I cook on Sundays for my mom.
And I told her I don't work on weekends.
I'd better get ready to head for the unemployment line Monday because
I just know that it'll be like that for me.

The Bullfrog Under My Window
Posted 6 years agoGood lord, I have a bullfrog under my window!
A bullfrog is sitting in a pool of water under my window at the water
meters... and croaking as loud as it possibly could at random intervals!
Catching it is seriously out-of-the-question, it dives into the water as
fast as lightning.
It won't be long before I hear that "jug-a-rum" coming from outside.
And no, I won't be making frog's legs anytime soon.
