you may have noticed i didn't make as many "classic trigaroo" style pieces (highly rendered pokemon pics)
it's not that i grew tired of them, but i felt a looming stylistic stagnation and the higher calling to explore the universe of styles and possibilities. I think every style is a set of limitations, so the only way for me to feel artistically free would be to be good at many styles, from cartoony and quick to realistic, or else i will always feel the grass is greener in another style.
that's not to say i don't want to have my own style. i think having one is unavoidable! some people claim to recognize me in my expressionistic/surreal work even if it seems to differ absolutely from my normal stuff. i think this unavoidable soul signature is a beautiful thing and very human.
earlier this year i often responded to "r u drawing rn?" with "no, i'm going through some private emotional struggles and don't feel like doing anything uwu". the truth is i went through romantic pursuit problems </3 (rare) so i posted, mainly to scraps, what may go down in history as some of my first vent pics XD (i didn't post the ventiest of doodles). during this period i focused mainly on my comics which i consider to be my main duty, and i mainly went on based on what i had already planned since i didn't have much energy to come up with new ideas. All these feels only increased my desire to be able to express myself through art without limits and become better at it.
in retrospect it's quite nice having gone through such diverse and intense feelings and learning
also I slowed my job searching down a lot during this, which may have changed my future (more on this later)
after all that i returned to my usual pace and continued expanding my exploration. this year i've done photography, a game, fake crafts, pixel art, real papercraft, long animations, short animations, png sorcery, human portraits, irl painting and much more!!
i've also embraced my nature as a storyteller by having 3 comics going on at the same time so i can disappoint the enthusiast of each with their release speed XD. I'll try to pick up the pace and continue trying to be fast like sonic, but just now i realized i made 94 posts this year so it's not as bad as i thought!
I find it crazy that I'm in chapter 3 of post-fable already, drawing events that for more than 1/3 of my life were just vague ideas. i'm very eager to continue.
also i don't plan to abandon disma's lair
already got some preliminary plans for next stories I want to tell =ยท)
the theme of exploration is also present in my endless browsing, which i still do almost every night. I have visited over 21000 furaffinity galleries this semester O.O
it's hard to tell how much this has passively trained my brain to summon furry images i like but it has taught me some concrete things about my taste, here're some unexpected ones:
โข i love sketches. even a good little doodle can easily be a best find of the night
โข i continue to appreciate more and more originality over technical execution (even being more fond of noob art, in a "every good artist draws the same, but every bad artist is bad in their own way" kinda way sometimes XD, also they tend to be messier which ends up being accidentally more expressive or cute)
โข celshading is not my enemy.
โข the best pics tend to be sfw!?
โข pony artists often slay ๐
โข portraits are cool. many many pics could be improved by cropping them into a portrait or showing less (composition is tricky)
over time my dedication to art has only grown, as has my skill and confidence that i could make a living on it, also i grew somewhat disilusioned with the idea of a traditional job, and so on the fateful day i finally got a job offer i was expecting... i said that i was no longer searching =ยท) had it happened a month earlier i would've taken it!
I'll never know if this was the best choice since I only live out one version of my life, but since I started taking commissions it has been working out so far! (those who've read this far are rewarded with knowing i take them in the post-fable discord server :3) I'm still figuring out how to best promote my patreon and stuff but I have faith a glorious future awaits. This also means I'm now sometimes moved by market forces which should be good for most consumers of my content whose demand i must supply
also some friends forced me to consume anime. this has actually taught me a lot about dynamic posing and using all the tools at your disposal (perspective, anatomy, background) to emphasize emotion. perhaps a subtle influence can be noticed in my recent pics!
the year ends with a return to the classics like the happy dog and bunny couple :D ๐ถ๐ฐ
as for my 2025 personal art plans: finish deep love (1 page left XD), start some quicker-style short stories, progress a lot in disma's lair and post-fable, continue exploring some fun styles and pushing expresiveness, delve more into animation, do more epic highly-rendered standalone pics, break chains that keep me from realising my full potential, make people laugh and cry and cum, surprise myself and have fun!
I don't know how to phrase it well but I feel like a better artist is already inside me trying to figure out how to come out ๐
I hope we have a good year >:ยท) full of personal growth, ethical decisions and unexpected cool plot twists

every day i browse by new, i open every cool, promising or weird picture in a new tab and continue browsing until i reach the 80th page, then i check every profile of the tabs i opened. some i close quickly, others i check thoroughly! it usually takes between 60 and 100 minutes.
in september i averaged 790 furaffinity links loaded per day :D (thanks History Trends Unlimited extension)
every day I end up faving between 2 to 13 pics (i guess i'm a bit picky)
i've been doing this nightly ritual almost every day for the past 3 months (and to a lesser degree since march) and discovered many artists, and i've even met new friends, acquaintances, transformice players, chileans, etc. just through faving and commenting ^^
i've learned much about my own taste and art goals, and developed some weird skills like getting better at guessing the artist's culture by the artstyle haha
why? i love art and furry art specifically, and i'm not a big fan of popularity/recommendation algorithms, i want it raw and i want to see some things i don't like or didn't expect to like too, and i also want to find cool people and new artists with potential =ยท)
you should take a look at my favs if you are interested in seeing a very diverse group of artists who make things i love!
for my 10th anniversary here i will select the top 10 favs among my favs (but this will be in 2 years)

it's just that I recently started my last year in university which implies a lot of work and projects, so between that, my other comic and commissions (i'm closed btw, won't open again soon) i'm not finding the time for it. I will probably continue in 2-3 months

What I've been up to
Posted 3 years agoI haven't posted as much lately, this has been a pretty busy semester academically as i'm nearing the end of my mech eng degree :O (next year should be my last) and most of my classes now are project-oriented and projects consume a lot of time!
However I decided to sacrifice present trig to save future trig by taking a class that I originally planned to take next semester, that way next semester I will have a lot more free time! teehee (this semester I have 5 classes, next I'll've 3).
I've been using most of my free time to continue doing post-fable, disma's lair and occassionally some extra art, and just this month I decided to start learning anatomy properly :ยท3
Anatomy has lagged behind my rendering skills but I wasn't worried because I knew this day would come (I probably knew less than 10 muscle names before lol!). It's not that I was completely ignorant of anatomy before, I mainly learned from references and too few youtube tutorials, but I never sat down with a book and did the grind. now that I'm doing that it's quite a humble experience, there's so much I didn't know!
I hope to be better at drawing anatomy than AI is soon, I'll try to race the machine for as long as I can ๐ ๐ค๐
Once I get good I might draw more muscular characters and diverse body types and sometimes (rarely) even humans (I've started developing a deeper appreciation for the human form) so I'm pretty hyped about all that :ยท3
The guard guy in last disma page is one of the first muscular characters I've done ever haha
Also I was sick this week so I'm a bit late with the post-fable page I wanted to make and a lycanroc x umbreon pic I was working on. The page should be finished today and the other pic some time next week n.n

However I decided to sacrifice present trig to save future trig by taking a class that I originally planned to take next semester, that way next semester I will have a lot more free time! teehee (this semester I have 5 classes, next I'll've 3).
I've been using most of my free time to continue doing post-fable, disma's lair and occassionally some extra art, and just this month I decided to start learning anatomy properly :ยท3
Anatomy has lagged behind my rendering skills but I wasn't worried because I knew this day would come (I probably knew less than 10 muscle names before lol!). It's not that I was completely ignorant of anatomy before, I mainly learned from references and too few youtube tutorials, but I never sat down with a book and did the grind. now that I'm doing that it's quite a humble experience, there's so much I didn't know!
I hope to be better at drawing anatomy than AI is soon, I'll try to race the machine for as long as I can ๐ ๐ค๐
Once I get good I might draw more muscular characters and diverse body types and sometimes (rarely) even humans (I've started developing a deeper appreciation for the human form) so I'm pretty hyped about all that :ยท3
The guard guy in last disma page is one of the first muscular characters I've done ever haha
Also I was sick this week so I'm a bit late with the post-fable page I wanted to make and a lycanroc x umbreon pic I was working on. The page should be finished today and the other pic some time next week n.n

why did it take me this long?
Mainly because I don't want to create exclusive content since it adds to my workload and makes a divide between patrons and non-patrons, also I don't want to nerf my furaffinity account by delying posting or only posting sfw versions etc. (this is not a dig at those who do it though!)
why did i do it??
a few people have asked for it (thanks for the motivation :p) and only a few people wanted to use the ko-fi haha, also I could use some funds to eventually get better drawing gear like a better computer and a new tablet one day, plus to pay for the costs of my comic's website that the wonderful twee-lil-lass is making.
what's there to gain by becoming a patron lol
Well, not much XD it would just be a sweet gesture and there are tiers with some very small rewards, but at the end of the day it's just a tip jar to support me if that's what you want. if not, a fav or a nice comment is also good :ยท)

NOTE: This competition is only eligible to those who do not own a USB drawing tablet. Please do not enter if you already own a USB drawing tablet.

Obviously I'm not going to draw them all, so I plan to pick 1 or 2 or so and make something based on them!
Also the idea might have greater chances of being chosen if it appeals to the kinks and themes that I usually draw such us bondage, paws, doms acting all mean and teasy, sitting on the sub, pokemon, etc. but I'm willing to incorporate new and radical concepts (even vore and watersports and god knows what else! I want to try new things) so don't limit yourself and show us the extent of your deviance ๐

After all that we've continued for longer than we anticipated and have assisted over 20 families now! (and helped some get jobs and other more permanent solutions) and got some other people inspired to do their own campaings.

As you can see there are clothes, necessary objects, laptops for the online classes and many other things, many bought with the money from the donations of journal 1. (so thanks all!)
Now a couple of them have recently had babies and another couple soon will, so the money gathered will go to buying diapers, strollers and other baby needs (we already got clothing covered!)
All donations received between now and the 7th of February in ko-fi and through FA shinies will go to this effort!, if you want to tip me, please wait until after that ^^
