Re: Paypal and Payments going forward:

It's been over two weeks of phone calls, submitting documents and waiting to prove who I am but Paypal is still useless and locked.
(TL:DR I've had 2 weeks of difficulty with trying to get my Paypal account back. I haven't done anything wrong, this is all over validating my proof of residence. Paypals been infuriatingly difficult to deal with, keeps knocking back my perfectly valid documents and my account is stuck as limited.)

Going forward, because this furry art thing is my livlihood, my passion, my only source of income and I can't bare the idea of giving up on all my hard work- I have looked into alternative payment methods and will now have 3 payment options for my commissioners to choose from.

The options will be:
- Square - Square will be the default payment method I use going forward if another preference is not given.
- Stripe
- Bank Transfer (Australians only)

Pros:
- You are not required to make an account or sign up with their services to use them.
- Square and Stripe work very similar in that you will be invoiced by email and will be prompted to pay with your credit/debit cards
- Your details will be protected by Square/Stripe just like with Paypal.

Non Australians Only:
- Stripes currency conversion rate will cost you less than Paypal for international transactions (Paypal: 4% vs Stripe: 1%)
- Square doesn't have conversion rates, but please be aware, your bank may take a small percentage for currency conversion when paying a foreign currency

Cons and Conditions:
- Square may not be compatible with some other countries as it only supports the countries in which it has been established (Australia, United States, Canada, United Kingdom and Japan.)
- Bank transfer will be accepted on a case by case basis and is only available to Australian residents.

My preference: Square

If you'd prefer another method that is listed here or if Square does not work for you, please do let me know which of these payment methods you would feel the most comfortable with.


Other changes now that I'm not using Paypal:

- I may no longer be pricing any of my work in USD. Previously my YCH auctions have been in USD but will go back to AUD bidding.

Thank you everyone so much for being so patient with me while I've been getting everything sorted out. It's been a really rough time and I heckin appreciate all of the support I've received from you wonderful folks! This week I'm focusing on getting my queue back on track and completed, and then commissions will be opening again with the abovementioned payment options!

If anyone has any questions about the payment methods, paypal or any of this going forward, please let me know I'm happy to explain anything I can to the best of my ability :) I know change can be scary but I'm hoping this will be a good change for all of us (we all know paypal is evil and its going to be great giving them less money for their shitty customer service and dumb vague furry hating rules:))

Hey everyone! I just wanted to share with you a great artist and really good friend of mine!  elking Please go give them a watch! Their art is absolutely STUNNING and work ethic is amazing! I've got a commission slot opening for a specific idea I'd like to draw:

The Idea:
A Witch studying at night in front of a beautiful observatory window overlooking a brilliant starry sky, shelves with spell books lining walls, sparkly summoning circles on the floor, magic tools and pretty witchy decorations throughout the room (crystals, candles, books, plants, potion bottles etc) (A second character may be added as a study partner for extra cost)

1 Slot: Accepting expressions of interest and open to offers over $550 AUD (Converts to just under $400 USD)
+$200 AUD to add a second character/study partner ( 2 characters max)
Female characters are preferable for this idea, but will consider male/nonbinary if I feel the character will fit the idea I have in mind.
I would like to have a fair bit of artistic freedom on this piece but WIPs will be provided and feedback will be taken on board. (A discussion before locking in payment may be required to check if our ideas match up well)

Will be Completed for Halloween 2020.
Commission must be booked by the 19th of October (to give me enough time to work on the piece. If not claimed by October 19th- the commission slot will close.)

Hey guys. So.. Shit happened.

On the 5th of August a user sent 75x Shinies at me through the Furaffinity shiny system totalling $375 USD.

I was sceptical of it and I did not know the user so I held onto the money for fear of a chargeback. As suspected a charge back was filed tonight for an "Unauthorized payment."

I would have just sent it back sooner because of how suspicious it was, however, Paypal has a new really crappy policy that they DO NOT cover the fees that occur when a payment is made if that amount is to be refunded- and also, maybe it could have been legit? I did not know, the message with it seemed friendly enough? So I kept the money to the side in my paypal and didn't touch it.

So here's the kicker:

As a seller (or in my case the recipient of a DONATION) -if you refund a payment through paypal, the Fee amount comes directly out of the pocket of the person issuing the refund- yes even when you hit the refund button on the payment itself, they don't give it back, paypal keeps that fee, you have no choice but to pay it out of your own pocket for a full refund.

A fee on an amount like $375 USD ends up being $13.80 USD which in my currency is nearly $20 AUD. So I got the pleasure of paying $20 out of my own pocket possibly for some dumb kid stealing their parents paypal details.

Just a warning to you guys using the shinies system that bad shit can happen with it the way its currently set up. When I put in a ticket with FA I only got "Unfortunately there really isn't any advice we can give as this is between you and the donor. While the Shinies system is part of FA, the payment is all handled by Paypal. As such any issues or questions should go to PayPal." and "Fur Affinity has no jurisdiction in this case."

I can only hope they would consider changing the shiny system to be an actual donation payment and not a payment for goods and services like it is now to avoid a mess like this. Artists could get really screwed over by this on such a big scale. Can you imagine donations of over a $1000 and the fees on that an artist would have to pay for a chargeback?

I'm considering disabling my shinies system now thanks to this.. I haven't yet but I'll have to think on it....

Right now I'm feeling pretty disenchanted, hurt and quite powerless...

Hi everyone! Just a little life update. Sorry for the quietness lately, this last week has just been go go go!  tanrowolf and I have just moved into a new house together which is a BIG upgrade from my old tiny apartment and I finally get to live with my love <3.
I now even have a studio of my own to work in! I'm so excited!

I'm back into work full swing this week and will be working on catching up on commissions and bringing streaming back. This weeks commission stream will be back as well.

I've been asked a fair bit about whether or not I'll take pre-orders for my Friday commission slots. I currently do not and would prefer not to. This is to be fair to people who do make the streams who are usually in the chat already waiting for 10am to claim slots. And I also really need the commissioners to be available in stream for real time proof approvals so there's no hold ups on the day.

BUT- I do realise it is hard for those who can not make the stream due to work and time zones because honestly my Aussie time zone isn't exactly ideal for a lot of people.

So I offer this solution:

Instead of pre-orders, I'm considering doing a separate opening soon for the stream style commissions (the flat colours and sketch style types).

These will be outside of my Friday stream commissions and treated as QUEUE commissions. I will take small batches of them at a time when the queue is lower. They wont be instant/same day turn around like the stream commissions and could take a couple of weeks depending on what is on my queue already. Sketch WIPs will be provided by email.

It will likely be happening in a couple weeks after I clear the reference sheet bookings (5/6 remaining). They wont be "Stream Commissions" but I will probably stream them with no set time limit unlike the Friday stream commissions that get completed in one day.

So if you don't mind being patient but would still like to get one of the flat colour or sketch styles keep this in mind, I'll do an opening soon :)

It is always my most up to date place for news regarding commissions.

Lately I've been getting a lot of individual messages over different social media platforms, email and notes regarding commission prices and openings so I'm going to outlay whats going on with all that here.

Right now I'm going through my prices and nothing is set in stone yet but they will be changing.
I can't give a clear answer on what the new prices are going to be yet because I'm still figuring out what will be fair for both me and my commissioners. I also do not know when I'm going to be officially open again for large commission types. I just ask that people be patient with me and wait for my announcements.

At the moment I've been releasing YCHes steadily, I'm still running my Friday sketch and flat colour stream commissions and opening for smaller commission types so I can slow down a bit while also still working and being able to pay my bills.

I just really need to slow down a bit so I can get some much needed rest. I'm overworked and in a lot of pain with hand cramps, back aches, headaches and my mental health is taking a major hit.

I would really appreciate people being patient and not message me regarding my prices and openings whilst commissions are NOT open. Enquiries about commission types that are Open and currently running YCHes is fine.
