Convention - MFM! Soon!
Posted 15 years agoAlright!!! I managed to get the sleeves I wanted, I got plenty of deck boxes, and all of the artwork is completed!
That's right! For my next conventions, I'll have 20+ decks for sale, as well as plenty of each expansion. My convention list is as follows:
MFM (Early September)
Rainfurrest (Late September)
Oklacon (Late October)
And possibly a few local Austin Anime conventions. BTW, if there's anyone watching me in the Austin area that doesn't attend furmeets, send me a message.
Oh, and here's looking forward to MFM in a little less than two weeks. I'm going to be running TONS of Werewolf there, and possibly some other events <3 Post if you're going :D

Furry Media - Recommended Movies & Anime
Posted 15 years ago1. This deserves its own separate journal, for being so different from the last one.
2. I'm also typing this one for the second time, now. Note to self, don't hit backspace after hitting alt, in Chrome. Oh well. |3
Spent the last few days watching movies over at Chaka's place. A few were really good, but some were rather meh.
Paul Blart's Mall Cop - On one side, the movie was full of plot holes, logical errors, stupidity, slow pacing, and patheticness. On the other side, I already knew this, so the movie ended up being a mildly satisfying waste of 90 minutes. Do not recommend this one.
Daybreakers - This movie, on the other hand, had some fantastic world building. It's a vampire movie, but not a sparkly one. There are a few good vampires, but that's because the vampire thing was a disease, similar to how zombie ends up being done. The vampire-lore-based technology was great and the movie had a lot of attention to fine details. I didn't find myself questioning things too often that ended in dead ends. Fun movie, definitely recommended.
The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus - Very shiny, and it kept me guessing what would happen next. Almost to the point that I didn't understand the ending until it had sunk in for a bit. Good characters, and fun special effects. Recommended.
Zombieland - I've been wanting to see this one for a while, but I don't think it lived up to as good as I expected it to be. Violence aside, it felt like a kid's movie. :\ Ah well, wasn't terrible, but it was no Shawn of the Dead.
If anyone else has some movie recommendations, I'll see about checking them out. It's something to do, after all. :)
Unlike above, everything I'm about to list here, I DO recommend. Note that I am one of those anime fans that only watches subtitled anime. I'd specify 'fansubbed', but with the increase in quality of subs on those streaming sites, and with a fair amount of what I download being rips of those streams' subs, it's hard to claim that. Anyway, check these series out if you like that sort of thing. :D
Durarara - This series does a fantastic job of world building this little hub of downtown Tokyo. The characters are very vibrant and they even mix in a little supernatural. It flows as a whole and as you learn more and more about the characters, this little hub grows to be this zone of epicness.
Angel Beats - I don't cry. Period. All that stuff that tries to get people to cry on TV these days is so weak and it's just impossible to get behind it. Partially because I'm not a family person, and I tend to be fairly distant to most things. But... This series broke me down. ... Twice. ... On two different occasions, I found myself in tears while watching this anime. It breaks you down from the start with this gorey snuff-filled afterlife of unfulfilled dreams. It. ... It basically brings you to a low, and then throws some incredibly highs at you, with these touching tales. I'm a very caring person, so the scenarios they gave were just really heart-warming. If anyone actually goes and watches this series, let me know how it made you feel.
Heroman - Take American comic books, and mix in the Japanese love for giant robots. That's this anime. It feels like both at the same time. Set in Generic-Town-USA, a freak lightning storm grants this kid a giant robot as a toy pet thing. The story goes on from there in a very comic-book like chain of events. Not my favorite anime, but still something I'd say is worth a watch. :3
Fairy Tail - Quite possibly the 'next big thing'. One of those never-ending no-clear-goal-in-mind series. If Naruto is ninjas, Bleach is samurai, and One Piece is pirates, this one's simply magicians. The characters are well defined, and the humor is similar to the off-the-wall stylings of One Piece. Check it out, before it gets to be 250+ episodes like those other series. ;D

Good Times :3
Posted 15 years agoIt's amazing how quickly one can change. Not too long ago, I would always say what was on my mind, regardless of what it was. And I'm not talking about just negative stuff. Positive stuff, too. Regardless of what was going through my head, I would remark on it. Beyond that, I'd be really impatient about myself and others getting things done. But lately, I've slowed down some. I'm taking each day at a slower pace, and am finally able to relax. With that, comes an improved mindset and less of a rush.
I suppose that comes from having some really good friends, and not being in a position where I have to worry about... well, much of anything. I should probably see about picking up a temporary job again, for the weekends, but overall, money hasn't been a concern. My living situation (aside from that one day) has also been quite nice. Privacy, space. And lately I've been playing with one of the temporary roommates' pet kitten. Another reason I've noticed I've 'slowed down' some, is that my behavior towards animals is a lot different and more relaxed than when I was growing up.
My mind, however, has been a bit of a jumble lately. So much change, so many emotions. But I've also realized that what's going on in there doesn't need to be forced out. It's actually rather pleasant, and those thoughts will get sorted out when the time is right. It's not something to worry about, and in the mean time, I get to enjoy life from day to day, appreciating my friends, and continuing to be relaxed.
So, this is mostly a thanks to all of my friends. Thanks for the support and company. ^_^ Arf.

~Car Windows~
Posted 15 years agoSo, my car has had an interesting life so far. Since I've had it I've opened up all four door panels to deal with the windows. All four. I haven't had this car very long, and aside from being old in general, it hasn't seen too much use.
Shortly after getting the car, I'd say two months in at most, I rolled the back driver's window down by mistake. I'd done this a few times so far but when I went to roll it up, it would not go up. -_- Wutt? So, I have no clue what's going on, and I roll down the back passenger window. And get this, that one won't go up now either and is in fact sliding down on its own. :O
I get home, and look up the problem. Apparently, it's likely something with the window regulator. Okay, sure. How much are they? ... $60 each refurbished. And ooh, this site's selling rear left and right together for $100 and free shipping! I can't quite afford it right now but that's not -too- bad. I wonder if I can repair this myself!
*sigh*
Well, to figure this out, and to make the car safe again, we open up the door of the window that wouldn't stay up. The other was able to be pulled up but this one we needed to fix temporarily. We being Chaka and I. So, it takes us like, an hour to find some good documentation, and another hour to perform it. Once in there, we get a vice clamp to secure the window in an upright position. Put the door back together, and wait a bit to order the regulators.
Get them in, replace them, and within a month after that, I notice that my front driver's side window isn't rolling down either now. :< WTF car? Ugh, at least it's staying rolled up! >.<
Well, it stayed rolled up. All the way up until the point where it was brutally murdered for a few hundred dollars of electronics. Hah. Well, at least now I had an excuse to deal with that one. The problem with it was that the motor had died. The problem on the OTHER two was that the guide wire had snapped. :\ So, we still had the old parts, and one of the motors (from the passenger's side armament, oddly enough) worked as a replacement.
But that's only three! You said you had to deal with all four! .... Yeah, still dealing with, actually. The other night, I rolled down the front passenger's window made that familiar popping noise and decided it wasn't going to roll up anymore. :< I knew it would happen eventually, but it was still annoying. Called Chaka, let him know that I'll need his help to clamp that one in an upright position. With all that's going on right now, I really don't care about getting that one fixed. Another $50-$60 that I just have no reason to spend, really. XD I'll deal with it eventually, but I have working AC, so as long as it's able to be held up by that clamp, I don't really have to worry.
But really, I haven't had the car that long. And I should add that the front driver's regulator didn't break the same way as the other three. It's likely to fail in that same snapping manner before too much longer. :| Maybe I'll just wait till that happens and buy another two pack? ;)

*Sighs*
Posted 15 years agoRoommates. Guh. Really bad day today, though only in a mentally stressful way. I kept hearing yelling and banging and door slamming from one of my roommates. One of the temporary ones that should have been gone already. I have no clue what's going on with him, but I want no part in it. As such, I've pretty much locked myself in my room for the time being and have not gone out. Thankfully I have no real reason to, but the next time I open that door I'm heading straight out the other one. It's not my business, whatever is going on, and I don't like feeling like I'm in danger in my own home. I was pretty close to calling the police, and at several points I receded into my bathroom or closet. I don't do well with people being angry and flailing around -___-
Werewolves of the Dark Arts, and Convention Schedule
Posted 15 years agoMany of you know me from conventions I've attended recently where I host games of an Are You a Werewolf variant I call "Werewolves of the Dark Arts". This project was started around the time of last year's Mephit Furmeet (MFM). Design work is done by me, implementing the features that I enjoyed there, and a few concepts I came across in other games. Eventually, I incorporated more of my own ideas, and other ideas suggested to me by participants. The art is all done by morningstar and we have 22 unique characters drawn so far. In addition, there is boxart that has been designed. For more information on this project, see below.
Website - www.werewolfdarkarts.com
Progress:

Walking turned Swimming
Posted 15 years agoAh, that was uhh... fun. I guess. XD
Went walking at my favorite park, Walnut Creek today. I expected the river to be high so I brought my water shoes. Not good for walking, but very well suited for getting wet. After taking random turns to make things interesting, I found a crossover that I had only taken once. Not really a full out 'path' that you'd find on the map, after all. I switch into my water shoes and get distracted because the water just feels so nice.
So I go walking upstream for a bit until I find another area that looks familiar. Never much higher than my ankles. I walk for a bit more and work my way to another part of the creek. After going upstream from that point for as far as I cared, I switch to going downstream and then past where I had entered it. It got around below my knees but that's good exercise. Totally. Well. I happened to find a nice overly green patch of algae. -_-;;;
"Ker'splooooosh" just about sums up my walking experience. :P I almost kept my balance three times over but finally slipped to my knees and soaked my shorts and most of my shirt. As well as part of my backpack which had my new GPS and a fox plush. Both are fine, thankfully. The fox plush could probably use a bit of sun to make sure it dries right but otherwise all is well. But I was completely soaked.
I continued wading down towards the river exit closest to the parking area, and sat down at the bench to wring out what I could. After a short break, I decided I'd go ahead and head home to dry off. Well, in the interest of keeping my car in good shape, among other things... well, you get the idea.
Still, a rather fun walk, and I may bring my water shoes again. Nice and refreshing. I've never been one for swimming pools, but that creek walk was enjoyable. :3

Finally Feeling Better / Belts
Posted 15 years agoWell I'm finally starting to feel a bit better. I might go out walking tomorrow after some errands. It's been a while since I've had the chance.
Speaking of errands, I've been struggling to get a belt that works for me since getting back from RCFM. My belt nearly snapped in half due to general wear and tear at the con, so it was time to get a new one. I first looked at Wal-Mart, and they didn't even have anything my size. Then I stopped at the clothing store Kohl's. Fancyish place. Found one that was either a 32 or 34. A little big, but the last notch was tight enough. Reversable and thin, as I like them.
Use it for a day, go home, take my pants off with the belt still on like I normally do... and later that night proceeded to step on them. Apparently, this new belt is total garbage, and the reversible buckle broke off from the belt. My last belt was a similar type and I'd stepped on it quite a few times. Damn thing never broke. Sigh.
So several days later, I take it back. Nothing there for me to buy as that was the only one that worked for me there. Next store. Academy. Nope, all -way- too long, and too fancy. So the next day I head to another clothing store. Ross. That place feels like a Goodwill. o.o; Anyway, walk around, looking for the belts, and I find some. And they even have my size. One's a 30-32, and the other's a 32. I got a standard thin reversible, and grabbed a braided one too, just as a backup. And then I realize that the section I was looking at was the kid's section. *sighs and laughs* Oh well. X3

Sick. @_@
Posted 15 years agoI've been sick'ish since the end of RCFM. Second time I've gotten sick from that con. At least this time it was afterwards, instead of food poisoning during.
Dealing with getting over a cold, and getting hit with allergies at the same time. Lots of rough coughing, which makes me have no energy. I'm around, just not up for much. Rarr.

RCFM, whee.
Posted 15 years agoOkay, folks. Heading to RCFM. Had this planned already before the whole theft incident, and I almost couldn't make it, but Chaka decided he wanted to go when they opened up a few new rooms. We're driving most of the way there tonight, crashing at a random motel close to MFM, and then heading the remaining 3-4 hours the next morning.
So, we'll be there Friday - Monday. I'll be running Werewolf, as usual. Not sure what else I plan on doing at this con, though. Compared to Oklacon/Wild Nights/Furry Fiesta, I've got nothing lined up. :\
Anyway, I've got plenty of puppy chow, for those who know of it ;3
Also, the Fablefire commissions are still going on. $10 gets you a colored chibi. http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/1371194/ has the information on how to get one.

$10 gets you a colored chibi. http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/1371194/ has the information on how to get one.

fablefire (http://fablefire.deviantart.com/ http://oniseraph.deviantart.com/) has very kindly offered to do small chibi commissions to help me raise some money to at least get my window fixed. There are 10 slots, and I'll only ask $10 for them, but you're welcome to donate more than that. http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/1370508/ for information on what this is all about. :<
Send information about the character to me via note, and then pay at least $10 over paypal. My paypal is RPGTobias[at]aol.com After being paid, I'll pass the info along to Fable.

Update 2: (Cleaned it up) Due to this -> (Old Journal - http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/1370508/) I've encountered a very frustrating setback that's caused things to be a bit tight around here, in terms of money.
Window: $103 (Replaced myself, so the only cost was the window pane)
Zune: $63 (Successfully downgraded the firmware, yay)
GPS: A replacement as a gift from a RL friend. (Same friend who bought me the first one, too. X__X)
Car Adapter: $15
Fuck. My. Life.
Posted 15 years ago***WARNING*** Depressed fox is depressed. Ignore this if you can't stand someone ranting and being angry.
So it's bad enough I've had car problems lately.
It's bad enough my government backpay stillllll hasn't come in.
It's bad enough I am being forced to move out in the next month.
It's bad enough that I can't fucking handle romance without fucking things up.
But now, there's this. Fuck you, world, and everyone in it.
I don't know why I even bother...
Decided I'd break routine (I should know by now that doing that will cause nothing but fucking problems, as the last time it was several hours messing with video drivers, and the time before that it was a flat tire that I had to argue to get fixed) and visit a friend in South Austin. I've been down there dozens of times. It's not the best neighborhood but it's right by I-35, and isn't TERRIBLE. Well, I'm a fucking idiot, and if ANYONE remarks on my stupidity here they will be BLOCKED from my FA. I had my GPS and radar detector still on my dash. I didn't think anything of it. I'd been in the area before, right? Well, I go inside to hang out, and come out two hours later to get something out of my car. I go to the passenger door and see green. "Why is there a broken beer bottle in my car... wait... how could a broken beer bottle be in my car? O.o *looks up* ..................................................................................................."
Driver's side front window smashed, glass all over the inside of my car. Garmin Nuvi GPS stolen, radar detector stolen, crappy Zune 30GB stolen, USB car-adaptor hub stolen. Part of my dash broken, too. I'd say around $500 in stuff taken and damages. Cops can't do shit about it other than file the report, insurance can't do shit about it because I didn't have comprehensive (cuz I can't afford anything more than what I'm paying in the first place) and I'm stuck picking glass fragments out of my car for around 3 hours. My seatbelt won't connect, my door currently has a white garbage bag somewhat taped to it, and I'm missing three items I use on a daily basis.
Which, btw, I don't have the money to deal with ANY of this right now because I'm having to move into a new place (subsidized housing, yay, more ghetto. At least it's not down south but this would have happened eventually, I'm sure -_-) and will have to pay double the rent I'm paying now.
I don't like taking help from people. I feel like I should be able to stand on my own... But then shit like this happens that punishes me for no reason what so ever. The people who did it will get away without punishment, and I'm out almost an entire month's income. If anyone WANTS to help me out, I won't say no. I can't do anything in return but be thankful.

Wild Nights
Posted 15 years agoOog. Oww. Still sore.
Great convention, ended up meeting a lot of new people. Hugs to all that I got to chat with. :3
Umm, thanks to all those who participated in Pred Prey and Werewolf. If you have any footage of those activities, let me know. I'll see about getting some of it up.
Next convention on my list is RCFM. After that, MFM. I'll try and post journals about that later.
Predator & Prey Footage: http://tobias.kemonoart.org/Predato.....%20Nights%202/ (It'll go here. Gotta fix up some of what I have still)

Furry Fiesta 2 + Werewolf Stuff
Posted 15 years agoGreat con, and man, a day later, and I'm still totally wiped. Thanks to everyone who hung out with me during the convention. To those who played Tomena Sanner and Heron Steam Machine with me, hells yeah. And of course to everyone who spent countless hours at the con participating in Werewolves of the Dark Arts. I already have a few ideas of how to improve things and some minor balance tweaks, all of which will be showing up on http://werewolfdarkarts.com/ before too long. Future expansions and purchase info will be available there, too.
My next convention I'll be going to is going to be Wild Nights. I'm assist-running Predator & Prey and will of course be running Werewolf again there, as well. Final approx total of time spent playing WDA at FF? Around 28 counting the demo game, for the 4 hour con.
Thanks again folks, and while I didn't do much other than a bit of video gaming and running Werewolf, I had an awesome time at the con. It was nice finally putting a few faces to some names I knew as well.
Bark at you folks later, and see some of you at Wild Nights.

Amazing Fox-themed T-shirt
Posted 15 years agoWoot runs these 'derbies' where they are contests to decide which T-shirts will print. This week's theme was "Things that start with V" and one artist submitted this shirt.
http://shirt.woot.com/Derby/Entry.aspx?id=38380
Currently, it's in the top 9, but there's no telling if it will end up printing or not. I want to see it print, and if it does, I will buy 3, personally. If there's anyone out there with a Woot account, please give this shirt a vote, and help it to print. And if you like it, spread the word.
Voting lasts until Wednesday.

Oklacon & Other Stuff
Posted 16 years agoLeaving for Oklacon tomorrow, and it's another epic trip like my Califur journey.
Early visit to Tamara's a little south of OKC
Oklacon (I'm apparently staff now XD)
Albequerque (Skitzo's for a bit)
Las Vegas (My mom's flying in from New Zealand and wanted to visit with me, so I worked it into the Oklacon trip, basically)
Albequerque for a night
Back home.
Yeah.
So I'll basically be away from home for two and a half weeks.

Predator and Prey / Werewolf
Posted 16 years agoI'm officially running Predator and Prey at Oklacon this year, and likely at Wild Nights, and potentially at MFM next year, too.
http://tobias.kemonoart.org/PredatorPrey/ Gaming guide of how it works. I'll have photos here eventually. Hopefully. :3
I'm also going to be trying to run Are you a Werewolf at most of the conventions I attend. My friend Morningstar is helping me to create my own deck because I couldn't find a copy of the version I grew attached to. I think this one works out better in the end, anyway. ^_^
http://tobias.kemonoart.org/FuzzyWerewolves/ It's around half done so far. About 6-8 cards still need art, and then all but one needs shading, but it's finished enough to be able to run games with it at Oklacon. :D
