Gaming - Dust: An Elysian Tail (It's furry, guys! :O)
Posted 13 years agoSo, this game finally came out, after quite a few years of being discussed (3, I think?)
Well. I beat it. I'm number 11 to full-clear the game and always will be. I could have beaten it earlier but wasn't actually in a hurry. I was playing in the second-hardest difficulty, I let all dialogue play (it's fully voiced!!!) and even leveled up to max level after reaching full clear status. Still two achievements I don't have, not sure what's needed for them yet.
Anyway. Very polished, very enjoyable, very furry. There's even some fairly cute characters. :P If you can spare the $15 and have an Xbox, definitely buy it and play it. But now, I need to get some sleep. Spent ~16 hours in a row on the thing XD

Convention - MFM & Werewolf
Posted 13 years ago(Old journals have been deleted)
I have made a decision, though the decision is actually incomplete. Werewolf is now scheduled at MFM this year, 9PM I think, until 3AM officially, in the Ash room (which is on the second floor).
What I have not made a decision on is my own attendance. There are plenty of people who can run it should I stay home. Additionally, there will be decks available for sale in the dealer's room (Gary, he sells DVDs and some books, will most likely be who I ask to help) at $45. This will also allow someone to pick one up and run it.
I may not fully make up my mind towards whether I go or not until a week or two before. There's a good chance it will be a yes, but there's still a sizable chance for staying home. Also, there will be no puppy chow this year. I just cannot justify the $30 it takes to make it, plus then I have to monitor the stuff and keep people from scarfing it down... If I could sell small baggies, I'd go that route, but alas, legal structure is very weird. :P
Oklacon will still have two batches of Puppy Chow, down from four last year. I appreciate the tips the previous year, but I felt awkward even asking. Furry Fiesta will still have four batches because it and the following there are the best I've got. I don't mind splurging -once- in a while. :3
Thanks for the positive comments over the last few days. It was good to hear some encouragement.

Anime - "Brain BURST!" (Accel World anime series)
Posted 13 years agoWelcome to the future. Here you'll find kids even more spoiled than our generation was, where they have computers hooked directly to their heads! With their Neuro Linker technology, they have access to a virtual heads up display to help them with their daily lives. You also have access to an online "Second Life" style world with mini-games and whatever else you can come up with.
Here's the main character's avatar. It's a tubby little pig, but then again, so is the character. - http://ocanimeblog.files.wordpress......-01b.jpg?w=600 - To be honest, it works. It's very atypical of anime series to have such an unflattering male lead. And he has the reclusive nerd personality with social issues down perfect. Very good character development and such.
Here's a minor spoiler from later in the series. One of the side characters has an otter avatar the same size as Haruyuki's is. It's silly :3 And furry. - http://www.seaslugteam.com/wp-conte.....el-07-0264.jpg
Without going into any MAJOR spoilers because this series is awesome simply from discovering the elements at the pace that the main character discovers them... there's some REALLY cool tech development that happens in this series, and anyone with a passion for developed sci-fi needs to watch this show. It's nowhere near as 'furry' as the last journal's topic, but it's something that should appeal to a lot of people.
This series is currently available to stream on HULU.

Anime - "Honey, You Married a Werewolf" (Upcoming movie)
Posted 13 years agoOkay it's actually called Ookami Kodomo no Ame to Yuki, which a rough translation is "Rain and Snow, the Wolf Children" BUT, watch these two trailers and be blown away by the upcoming existence of something genuinely furry. Not just nekomimi, but flat out furry as fug! XD
http://youtu.be/B-j6vpQ3OnM
http://youtu.be/SnliVCC3DRo
Now that you've clicked the two links and watched the contents, were you surprised? I was flat out blown away by the snow scene at the start of the first trailer, completely preparing myself to be underwhelmed by the trailers. But what did you guys think?
As a bit of background, this is by the same guy that did Summer Wars. For those who have NOT seen Summer Wars yet, it has a character named King Kazma. He's a full-furry 'avatar' (think Mia from dot//hack, but a rabbit): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lOyKhCgm6ww (no real spoilers there) and while this character is not the main character of the film, it's still a very furry inclusion. :)
Coming up next, a trip to the future! (And more cool furry stuff from Japan!)

Gaming - Diablo 3
Posted 13 years agoI'll be absorbed in Diablo 3 for quite a while starting a little past 24 hours from now.
I did want to make an offer. I may end up in a position where I have to buy a regular edition of the game. Once adding a collector's edition afterwards, I will have a key for a regular edition of D3 just floating in limbo. Would anyone want to buy that off of me for $50? That's a $15 savings, but it may not actually happen. Depends entirely on if I manage to get a CE from Wal-Mart or not.

WotDA - The Dragon, Knight, and Princess
Posted 13 years agoIt was suggested to me that I create a Dragon card that's similar to the Hunter, but I didn't really like the idea because it's crossing the stories in a bit too odd of a way. I kept it in the back of my mind, though, because I liked the effect.
While I will not be creating any new cards for the set, I want to share the idea I came up with for others to play with in their own sets using blank cards. You must play with all three roles if you play with any of them. That alone is enough to keep this from being a part of the main product. The general tale behind them is that the Dragon is after the Princess and it's up to the Knight to protect her!
(I'm not sure how I'll be presenting this information due to the interconnectivity, but here's what the cards can do)
The Princess and Knight know each other's identities.
If the Princess is killed, the Knight also dies, similar to Lovers.
If the Knight is killed, the Princess does not die. There will be more Knights after all! ;)
When the Knight is killed, the Dragon makes a kill the following night.
If the Knight dies due to the Princess being killed, the Dragon does not make a kill.
When the Dragon is killed, if the Knight is still alive, nothing happens.
When the Dragon is killed, if the Knight is dead, the Dragon makes three kills.
If the Dragon kills the Princess, the game ends and the Dragon wins.
When the game ends, if the Knight and Princess are both still alive, they win in addition to the overall winner, similar to Lovers.
Strategies:
The Princess wants to hide among the villagers. If her identity is discovered, the Dragon may kill her and win! If she dies to the Werewolf half of the game, her Knight will also die, so it's even more incentive to stay hidden.
The Knight wants to eliminate the Dragon as soon as possible to help protect the Princess. It's important he doesn't reveal who his Princess is. However, if one of them were to die, it's best that it be him.
The Dragon seeks the Princess, but barring that, he merely seeks to destroy! Rawr! He must kill the pesky night before he is slain, or his rage will be defended against. Perhaps pretending to be the Hunter could work. Or if he claims to protect the town, perhaps the Knight will reveal himself. :P
Winning:
The win conditions are hard to accomplish for both. If the Princess dies to anyone but the Dragon, then none of them can win. If the Knight falls first, then the Princess can no longer win, but the Dragon gains the ability to win by hunting for the Princess.
Distraction Warning:
It should be noted that this is a fairly distracting set of cards to add to the deck. It can take away from the actual Werewolf gameplay, and thus is meant mostly for a silly group.
GM Scripting:
Identification Phase - Call the Princess to wake up, then call the Knight to wake up and have them identify each other. The Dragon does not need called.
Day Phase - If the Princess is killed, be sure the Knight remembers to sacrifice himself as well.
Night Phase - If only the Knight is killed, have the Dragon wake up after the Werewolves/Devil and make a kill.
No Reveal - A bit more difficult to run, you'll have to call the Dragon each night at the start and end like the Hunter. Run the same type of script but for the Dragon's abilities. If the Knight happened to die, show him the Knight card during the first night call and have him target someone to kill.
Mark of X - You'll want to use the blank Mark of Death card for these guys.

Convention - Wild Nights 2012 Wrap-up
Posted 13 years agoNot too much to go into here, since well, I fail at catching people's names. :P
I went out hiking three times, twice with Pawz and his friends. I also went canoeing for an hour one day. :) I found the three-horned tree, that was one of my goals, and I'll post some videos of it and other things soon.
Werewolf was a mixed bag this trip. There were some really fun games towards the end of the con, though. I caught a bit of one or two on film as well. As before, I have copies of the deck for sale. $40 shipped. :)
I didn't get to go to Michigan to visit Kiki and her fox Anya, but I did get to visit Albi and RonRon in Arkansas, I'll have some videos of that soon as well.
As for my plans for visiting Wild Nights next year, it's unlikely I'll be going. It's kind of run its course and the layout just doesn't work. It might be a different story if both 'new buildings' get remodeled by next year. My next convention will be MFM, which is quite a while from now. In the mean time, I'm gearing up for Diablo 3.

Convention - Wild Nights 2012, Puppy Chow & Werewolf
Posted 13 years agoPuppy Chow
I will only be bringing two flavors to Wild Nights. Dark Chocolate Orange and Mint. It's a fairly small convention, and I'd like to pack a bit lighter this year.
Werewolves of the Dark Arts
It will be running from 10PM until ~3PM each night. Depending on the set-up and on attendance, it may run a little later. I'll be using my new sound system with two wireless microphones and two lavaliere microphones. It's a rather impressive setup and remains rather compact, especially compared to Furry Fiesta's monster setup.
I'll also have copies of Werewolves of the Dark Arts for sale. $35 for the full set of cards. I will have storage boxes for sale (4 available) for $5, and I have one set of sleeves (100) for $10. Town Mayor Journals are $3 for those who want to have the large callsheet rather than the small card inserts.
EDIT: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DOVvZAUjr94 - Sound system.
Wild Nights
I'll be trying to arrive between 2PM and 5PM, but that may be a challenge since my sleeping pattern's rather backwards right now. I'll be there Thursday through early Monday. No Pred-Prey this year, unless they're running it on their own. I just don't like the layout of the camp. Wayyyy too open. Anyway, I'd love to do some trail walking at some point, so hopefully I can wake up early or otherwise form a group. It was fun getting lost that last time.

Convention - How to make Puppy Chow, Werewolf Style
Posted 13 years agoYou've seen the recipe card (which is actually slightly incorrect) but now, you get to watch it happen! Start to finish minus a bit of repetitive stuff for one whole batch of Puppy Chow. :D

Also, to anyone interested in tipping me for this tasty goodness, please use my paypal: rpgtobias[at]aol.com This tasty awesomeness doesn't come cheap. ^_~
In Werewolf news, work has started on the first of the 5 'web-only expansion' cards, the Oracle. Keep an eye on Morningstar's page for updates on that. Meanwhile I've streamlined the text for each card and am doing some final touches to the layout to prepare for the upcoming printing. Pre-orders will be taken at Furry Fiesta, and those who pre-order will get a Town Mayor's Journal cheat sheet. :D

Convention - Furry Fiesta 2012 Plans (Different from other)
Posted 13 years agoThis one's just a more generic journal talking about my FF plans this year.
Staying with Whysper and a few of her friends. They're coming to FF mostly for my Werewolf. <3 Yay. :D
Thursday - I'll be doing my standard "I've got a hacked Wii with fun little goodies on it!" thing from whenever I get there until Werewolf, down in the bar area. *Makes a note to bring a multi-tap.* This year's plan is a few Super Mario World Romhacks, since Newer Super Mario Bros Wii (advanced NSMBW romhack) isn't completed. I don't think I'll be pulling out Muscle March, but I may pull out Tomenasanner and Pole's Big Adventure for a change of pace from Brutal Mario and whatever other romhack I pick.
For Werewolf on Thursday, it's Silly Games, and I will also be testing out a sound system that I'll be bringing with me to try and get any bugs worked out before using it again on Saturday.
Friday - I've poked the con and asked them to throw a 3DS Meetup on the official schedule for ~5PM. Outside of that, I'll be pretty free this day for hanging out until Werewolf time.
Werewolf on Friday is split into two rooms for the first two hours, each focusing on different skill-sets. Afterwards, some regular games to further train the new players will be done. Nothing fancy.
Saturday - My goal for Saturday is to play through Legend of Zelda - Four Swords with three other people. I have YET to effing do this, so to everyone who has a DSi / 3DS, get your 4-Swords save file as complete as you can so we can do the marathon level as a group! (and possibly the retro and advanced dungeons)
My OTHER goal for not just Saturday but for this entire convention is to run a 40-person game of Werewolf featuring every possible role in the same game. That's what this night's Werewolf is all about! It starts early, and will also be recorded until BOTH of my recording devices are out of juice. Please be on your best behavior for this game so that I can keep from being scattered. ;D After that, No-Reveal games.
Sunday - No plans at all today, it'll be my day to flop down, zone out, and let everyone else do all of the work ^_~
Werewolf is Open GMing, that means I'll be there, but that's about it. I hope to make some documentation but really, it's going to be my main day to relax.
Monday - Leaving Monday, typically I wake up, pack up, and head out without really saying goodbye to anyone. I don't like goodbyes. I also don't like waking up at noon after being awake till 5AM. :P

Convention - Fiesta 2012, Werewolf **IMPORTANT**
Posted 13 years ago(This is the same information from my Flyer upload)
RULES FOR THIS YEAR:
- No alcohol / intoxication. It's become a problem for myself and those interested in strategic gameplay in the past year or so. If you need to drink, and you need to play, then do so at different times/days. Thank you.
- No puppy chow for those not playing. I'll probably be somewhat flexible on this, but know that I will be irritated if you ask for some and have no intention to play. The recipe is on here, and on the back of my display cards. ;)
- Also, after Thursday, please try and keep focused, and try not to shout over each other when possible. Get with your friends before the event for chatter, or take breaks.
Game Types:
Silly Games - Thursday's a day where focus is difficult, and the number of new people joining is fairly low. So it's time to break out the silly cards. Expect plents of games with the Fool, the Master of Teleportation, and the Were-Hamster. Basically, these are warm-up games for those of us that know the game well.
New Player Friendly! - This half of Friday's event is part of an attempt to curb high participation rates during the two main days. For those who are new or inexperienced with Werewolf, or just my version, this would be a great day to try it out. I'll be capping attendance at 20, and will have a few skilled players in the group to help stir players' intellect.
Advanced Players - This half of Friday's event is where those who have played my game in previous years will go to help keep the number of players in one place down. I'm hoping Firr will help me run this secondary event.
Basic Games - After the night's attendance has dropped to a more manageable number, we will all rejoin in the Corral for some basic, somewhat more serious games.
Epic All Roles Game! - Okay guys, this is my MAIN EVENT. It will have every possible role in this one. (Not included: Heirophant, Necromancer, Gravedigger. Every other role WILL be in it. That includes both Shamans, the Were-Gerbil and Fool, and I believe 4 Werewolves in addition to a large number of other evil characters.) This game will take 3 hours. I'm hoping I can keep it at that length. It will also be recorded! Anyway, this event is capped at exactly 40 people, and priority will be given to those who have played before, so be sure and show up to previous days' events if you have yet to play.
No-Reveal Games - After the epic game is over, we're switching to some cut-throat action with no-reveal games. In these, the identity of those who die is not revealed. This is the true skill test. Be prepared.
Open GMing Games - Last day of the con, I'm going to be drained. So I'm going to thrust it into the hands of my fans and let a few others GM and run games. I'm going to make an effort to document any questions that players might have.
The final verdict on flavors is the same set as MFM. Remember, this treat is only available for those participating in Werewolf.
Mint
Dark Chocolate Orange
English Toffee
Apple Cinnamon (with Honey)
Lastly, I will be taking PREORDERS for a slightly updated set of Werewolf cards. This new version will have card backs and new art for the latest-designed cards. However, it is a test printing from an online printing company. I cannot guarantee the quality of the product beyond a certain point. Anyone who preorders will get a Town Mayor Journal at the convention. These help cards should also be available for those who have previously purchased WotDA. Estimated cost including shipping is $35 for the entire set of cards, but it does not include sleeves or storage box this time around.

Question - Hair color
Posted 13 years agoI've had some passing thoughts on dying my hair a slightly different color. Nothing outrageous, but a little brighter perhaps. Or a bit more orange/red. I don't really know. I probably won't do it, but I was wondering if some of the people who know me might have a suggestion on what'd look good with my dress and demeanor.

WotDA - Product Availability for Werewolves of the Dark Arts
Posted 13 years agoI'd like to take a moment to apologize to everyone who has been interested in my game and really wanting to own a copy. I've really let this slip through my fingers and I know there's a lot of you who want to have a copy of your own. For the time being, here's a zip containing the web-resolution card images. Using this for your personal use has always been acceptable.

If I could get everyone who is still interested in purchasing a copy of Werewolves of the Dark Arts to post here, that would be awesome. I intend to do some work on the Mystery and No-Reveal sections of the official website later tonight, and seeing people interested would do a lot to motivate me. :) Sorry again for not being able to sell my game to everyone who wants to own it, it's a great feeling to have so many people interested, but a terrible one to not be able to make it happen.
