Personal - Still can't sleep in on my birthday! (UPDATED)
Posted 11 years agoWell okay it's not AS bad as last year. I needed to get up, anyway. I have a cake to pick up in a few hours and I'll share a picture of it here when I get back.
But the reason for the phone call was an unpleasant one. Car insurance company calling about my minor collision yesterday. I hate that I screwed up, but I have no problems owning up to it. I just hope I don't get a rate hike since it's my first fault collision ever.
I was also trying to buy a foxy cane on ebay because I've been having leg (knee region) pains and I have really high standards. But I was outbid all the way up to around where the buy-it-now price was. Usually these sell for far less, with pretty much no competition. But I was just really unlucky. I'll have to wait until another one appears. One eventually will, but, ugh. More annoyances.
Lastly, I wasn't able to secure enough votes for Fablefire's fox design. It was my idea, so at this point I'm just hoping I was able to get enough votes for it to print. The Foxy Five have taken first in both previous derbies they were entered into, but this time around my idea just wasn't strong enough. Then again, in the current atmosphere, I don't think any idea I came up with could overcome people's exhaustion towards foxes enough to beat 356 votes. Oh well, sorry Fable. Maybe it'll print tonight. :X
Anyway. Negativity aside, I've got some fun stuff planned. The BIRTHDAY TORTURE stream will be tomorrow at around 9pm Central. If you cannot make it tomorrow and really wanted to be part of it, post and let me know. There may be a private mini-stream tonight and if it means a lot to you to be able to join and hang out, we'll see if we can get in touch with you.
Picking up a small cake today. Should be pretty cool. The inside is as fun as the outside but I can't photograph that until later. I hope it gets made correctly. :3
Then board gaming. Normally I'd stay past midnight but I'd rather hang out with VK tonight. Fablefire might be joining the two of us as well. Yay for the company of friends. I'm not one for family so friends are all I've got.
Next is the stream, tomorrow. And then on Monday I get to bring the cake along to my next Werewolf event and have fun with the folks there.
Edit: Lawl. My roommate threw me a surprise birthday party. Which is pretty impressive considering the attendance count was 1: me. The kitchen area was amusingly decorated, which was a nice surprise. ^_^
Edit 2: Nope, still burdened by bad luck. The cake had SEVERAL errors to it. Instead of Fairy Tale Invasion, it was written "Fairy Tale Princess" -_____-; And in addition to that, they used the low-resolution non-final artwork sent to give ideas for the final product's colors and spacing. It... really looks bad. :X I'm sure the cake itself tastes fine, but... *SIGH* Why must people suck at their jobs. :|

WotDA - FurCoNZ Tales #1: The Cursed Were-Hamster
Posted 11 years agoFurCoNZ Story #1
The Cursed Were-Hamster
Story number one for the New Zealand version of Oklacon involves the Were-Hamster. Game size was 19, which was almost half of the convention! (Never get to say that again, haha.) Around night three, the Oracle dies and reveals the Were-Hamster. There are still three Werewolves alive (I believe) and the village decides they'll leave the Were-Ham alive.
The game gets down to two Werewolves but stays there. They continue to fail in reducing it to one. And there the Were-Hamster sits, seconding and voting on everything. Taunting them.
The group reaches five people and the village finally gets one of the two Werewolves killed but, the experienced among this blog should realize at this point what the only possible outcome is. Four left, the 'Wolf kills then a Villager, and all that remains are a potion-less Witch, a Werewolf, and a revealed Were-Hamster. So I go over to the Witch and ask him: "Who do you want to win? The Were-Hamster or the Werewolf?"
Obviously he chooses the Were-Hamster.
And that's the story of the Cursed Were-Hamster that lived ~7 days and managed to destroy the village. A lesson for future villages; even a harmless cute fluffball can destroy you all if you let your guard down.

WotDA - Wild Nights Tales #1: Tip me, I'm the Thief!
Posted 11 years agoGot a few stories that I posted to the Facebook group that I realized I hadn't posted here. I didn't even post the ones from FurCoNZ, so I'll be alternating for the next week or so.
PS: Did you guys vote yet? http://www.furaffinity.net/view/13421499/ Did you share it with your friends? Did they share it with theirs? ;3
Wild Nights Story #1
Tip me, I'm the Thief!
One of my first games played of the convention. It's late in the evening, I sit down and get the Thief card dealt to me. When the first day phase happens, I get up and grab my tip jar, then sit back in my seat being fairly quiet.
Eventually, I get accused. It's to be expected, they want to see how I'll defend myself. Being one of my first games, they were still fine with being nice to me. I sat there shaking my tip jar, and remarking about how I'm nothing they need to worry about, that I'm definitely on their side, stuff like that. I get only a few votes and they move on.
Night phase happens and I spend the whole night pretending to dig around in my tip jar. I'm totally hamming up the Thief role. Day comes, and I keep shaking my jar every once in a while. There's some change in it, so it's not something that has gone completely unnoticed. But no one really caught on that I was trying to give a hint. The day passes, as does another night with my hand in the cookie jar.
Day comes and the Oracle had been killed. They revealed my role. It's flipped over, and I'm shown to be the Thief, and suddenly everyone goes OHHHHHHHH, I get it now!!! Uhhh huh. But the story doesn't end there.
The game continues until there are 5 people left alive. Seer, Bodyguard, Werewolf, Cultist, and ME~. Discussion is opened, and the Seer starts the day by announcing that there are only two people she doesn't know if they are Werewolves or not. She points out the Bodyguard and the Werewolf. The two look at each other and one catches on sooner than the other. An accusation is made, I second it.
The one accusing says he's the Bodyguard. I can tell he's telling the truth, and that the other is the Werewolf. So I tell the Werewolf...
"I'll let you live if you pay me," and threateningly shake my tip jar at him.
Alas, he was but a poor wolf, and when he neglected to pay my fee, I raised my hand and offed him. The Bodyguard on the other hand immediately followed by tipping me $20. Ah, it's so enjoyable being the Thief.

Last 58 hours. Go check it out, back it if you can. Having more people to play with would be nice.
I also plan on 'renting' my Steam account once I get Alpha Access so that others can enjoy it early. ^_^

Vent - My absence... hasn't been for positive reasons
Posted 11 years agoSo, I'm sitting here at home, playing hookie from my own Werewolf event, feeling angry at just about everything. Why? Where to begin...
Some of you probably caught a recent picture I uploaded, one I was quite happy in. Well, for reasons I won't get into (but will share with those closer to me should they ask) the results of that ended up to be a complete disaster. One that's shaken me to my core, despite it not being a blow to my self-confidence for once.
So I'm back to looking for someone to share my excessive amounts of love with, and browsing Pounced. I casually reply to a few women who are both attractive and interesting, trying to strike up conversation and see what happens. Two of them actually bother to reply, so I give them another reply in return. And then that was it. For both of them. Nothing further.
Prior to Furry Fiesta, I was updating my Pounced ad, and even posted something on a furry Reddit involving myself. I actually got a reply from a gal on there. I attempted to reply positively, struck up some pleasant conversation, and... also heard nothing back. When I politely confronted her about this, the reply said that she had been busy and wanted to give me a proper reply to my nice notes, and shared the picture of herself promised from the start. Well, I remained in contact throughout all of the recent stuff, and at this point she's yet to reply to anything and gone as far as to leave my most recent note unread.
*sigh* I'm sick of this crap. I want to actually be involved with someone. I want to share my life and share theirs. Relationships aren't trophies to sit on the damn shelf. I was so happy to finally be involved with someone again, to share that side of myself with, and it was taken away from me in only a day.
Additionally, I've been dealing with my fair share of Werewolf related drama recently as well!
The main of the two monthly meets has been going for so long, that people have stopped carrying through with their own personal obligations. By which I mean signing up on the "Meetup" group in the first place. Where it is advertised, it takes three RSVPs, with individual accounts, in order to pull a meet from the "Suggested" page (which apparently NO ONE bothers to actually fucking check) to the "Upcoming" events page. I posted the event (happening today) almost TWO MONTHS ago. Up until a week ago, it only had one other RSVP. At that point, combined with current drama, I decided I wasn't going this month. Shortly after, a second person finally signed up. But it wasn't until YESTERDAY that the third person finally noticed and pulled it forward.
I should add that I have three people I talk to about Werewolf semi-regularly. I've expressed this issue with them multiple times. None of the three have bothered to make a damned meetup account and sign up for the events. Additionally, yes, I could make duplicate accounts and do it myself, but I don't want to run into issues with management of the Meetup group for such behavior.
Beyond that, I have been subject to noise complaints from the other group that meets on Thursdays at the same location. We have been there for longer than them, and only are there one week out of the month. But they are miniatures gamers. They spend MAJOR money at the store. My group barely spends anything by comparison. Well, the noise complaints have finally reached a level that we are being forced to change what day it meets on. Not that I didn't see it coming, but it doesn't make things less stressful and annoying for me. It's hard enough to get people there under normal situations but now we have to restructure when we meet.
I haven't even secured the space for the North Austin event later this month. That's how much frustration I've been feeling lately. It's not a good thing, in any sense.
I have been beating up monsters in Diablo 3, drowning myself in games and selfishness. Simply put, I'm not in a good place right now. I don't want to continue being alone, but such things can't be magically solved. I know none of you can help me in finding someone, and I know being negative and angry doesn't help draw people in either. I really don't like feeling this way, and can't even say I've felt this generically angry for, like, ever. I don't know. I just can't move past things right now and it has my insides in a bit of a knot.
Eventually I'll push past, but I figure I should let everyone know what's going on. And if someone actually CAN help on the topic of being single, I'm still at least able to speak positively to new people. Heck, that's where almost all of my positivity has gone lately, is putting forward a warm smile to foreign faces. ^_^;

Convention - Furry Fiesta Puppy Chow (New rules! IMPORTANT!)
Posted 11 years agoOkay guys. I have 213 bags of puppy chow for Furry Fiesta. There are 8 flavors to choose from:
Original
Mint
Dark Chocolate Orange
Amaretto Liqueur
English Toffee
Pumpkin Pie
Apple Cinnamon w/honey
(White Chocolate) Cheesecake w/vanilla
Q: So I get puppy chow for playing Werewolf?
A: Yes. But not in the same way as the past.
To be eligible for Puppy Chow this year, you MUST participate in at least one round of Werewolf. One pouch, per person, per day.
Several times during the night, I will take a moment to pause the game and distribute the puppy chow. They are in bags/pouches this year, and there is a small amount of size variance between bags. But you get what you get. Sorry. Also, do not jump into a game, get puppy chow, and then ask to be killed. You will become my enemy if you disrupt my game that way.
When distributing the puppy chow, you will also receive a hand stamp of a given color. This tells me that you've already gotten puppy chow. Do not wash it off and then try and get more. If I catch anyone doing this, they will not be welcome in future games.
If, towards the end of the convention, I notice that I am not depleting my puppy chow supply as quickly as I expect to, I will see about additional ways to distribute it, such as rewarding those who have tipped generously, or helped daily with setup and teardown. However, as I don't know how far this supply will stretch, I cannot do this until Friday late-night at the earliest.
For those taking part in games in the overflow room, I WILL try and reward you. The overflow room this year is much closer, so I should have the ability to leave an alternate Mayor to handle the day phase while I visit the other room and distribute treats.
Lastly, if you choose not to get a bag of puppy chow, I would prefer, at first, that you not 'offer' your bag to another person. Begging isn't cool, and supporting begging isn't cool either.
Q: Why so many rules? I just want sweet stuff!
A: Doing the bag method took a LOT of extra effort, in addition to the fact that I made twice what I usually make. Just counting the costs I've spent on puppy chow in the last few months, it's around $140. A lot of that was some back-stock on flavor oils, but the cello-wrap, pipe cleaners, and base materials... even the 'labor' costs of a meal to bribe the local crowd into their help, really added up. So because I'm doing this largely to let everyone experience a fun and unique treat, I'm going to be regulating how much each person gets.
Q: What about the mess that all this extra stuff will cause?
A: I will be addressing this at the convention. The pouches make for nice serving trays that help to keep things cleaner. BUT. It's very important that when you are finished with the contents, that the empty pouch either be immediately discarded, or re-sealed so that the crumbs DO NOT end up on the carpet. We are at a new hotel, and I don't want to see tons of crumbs crushed on the floor. I'll make sure we have a decent sized trash can, though.
Q: Ugh, this is too much trouble!
A: I don't mean to sound like I'm being a jerk here. This year is largely an experiment. And for an experiment to get accurate results, the rules must be followed closely. One pouch per person per day. This stuff takes up an incredibly large amount of space, and is quite a pain in the butt, but I do it anyway because I know you guys love the stuff and I think it's a fun gimmick for the event. ^_^ So please, work with me. :)

Convention - Furry Fiesta 2014
Posted 11 years agoOnly a few days left. I won't bother with the meme thing going around because it's not like I get many watchers from outside of the convention scene. :P I'll be posting this year's flyer in a few minutes. Cya guys there!
FA Drama - Zaush is an asshole, and I'm happy about this!
Posted 11 years agoOkay guys, here's an interesting little journal about me, my past, and Adam.
He and I used to be rather good friends about 10 years ago. He was the first artist I met in the fandom, and I hung out at his personal site way-back when his art was something I actually liked. Adam's original Krystal image(s) were what led me to the fandom in the first place. We chatted on messenger and it was fun. But you know what? I was a dumbshit 10 years ago.
No, really, I was a social failure. And there's two specific people I interacted with over the following years that really helped shape who I am today. One is *morningstar, and not just for her involvement in Werewolf. The two of us have known each other a long time, I met her about the same time frame. The other one is, in fact, Adam Wan, aka Zaush.
I was a selfish failure back then with an undeveloped sense of others' feelings. And you know what Adam did? He let me know it. Him and *morningstar both would tell things to me with 100% directness. They would sit with me for hours arguing with me, trying to get me to understand what about what I was doing was stupid. Adam was especially tactless towards my poor behaviors. And in the end, despite the fact that after a few years and his interests started drifting we began to drift apart as friends, in the end I am VERY thankful for his directness and willingness to say what's on his mind.
Do I believe he is a bit of a dick at times? Oh, most definitely. But I don't dislike that about him. And in regards to the 'rape drama' going around, and knowing what I do about Adam, I believe his journal accurately describes his personal viewpoint. Whether the opposing party's viewpoint differs or not, how he describes things is how he viewed it himself.
Fact of life, perceptions vary.
TL;DR - Adam is someone who I am thankful for having met. I may have pretty much no interest in his art these days, I may have little to talk about with him, but I don't think poorly of him. I accept him for who he is; blunt, forceful, to the point... but to those spazzing about the drama? It's just standard sex drama with a public spin as far as I'm concerned.

Gaming - WoW drama, lulz!!!
Posted 11 years agoWell that was an amusing conversation. According to this guy, psychological undercutting is the only type of undercutting allowed. Actually driving prices down, and admitting your intent is to drive the prices down, is against ToS. "Supposedly". LOL WoW is a silly game.
[Locütüs]: you realize that by saying in trade chat that you purposely undercut the ah 50% that dreamteller was right and you are in fact purposely crashing a market right?
[Locütüs]: and that its against the eula and bannable??
To [Locütüs]: Report me then. I'm selling stuff cheap so that the END USER gets supplies!
[Locütüs]: crashing a market on purpose is not a cool thing to do, especially when you admit it.
To [Locütüs]: Penny undercutting isn't cool, especially when I'm not trying to control the market, just sell some crap.
[Locütüs]: you admitted you are trying to control the market by undercutting it 50% though?!
[Locütüs]: what do you think driving the prices down is??
To [Locütüs]: I'm driving down the profit margin, and allowing people to buy glyphs for sane prices, not 750g lol
To [Locütüs]: because I can't sell anything when I get undercut by a penny
To [Locütüs]: Undercut me by a penny, I undercut by 20-50%
To [Locütüs]: Like a man.
[Locütüs]: I think you should really jump on google and check out the eula. I know at least 10 people from my friends guild that have already reported you, it wont take many more to have you booted..
[Locütüs]: just a friendly warning, not a threat
To [Locütüs]: That's fine. I'm just here to have fun, not to 'make fake money'
To [Locütüs]: For me, it's fun to undercut by 20-50% in response to being penny undercut
[Locütüs]: im done with this convo now. you can continue to do what you do, and I will too.
To [Locütüs]: Just remember it's a game.
[Locütüs]: a game that people pay for. and you ruining it for a lot of them is something blizz dont like.
To [Locütüs]: My aim? Ruin it for those people overseas who abuse the market to make tons of gold and sell it.
To [Locütüs]: Rather, that's my aim outside of just selling my own stuff once in a while, haha.
To [Locütüs]: If people didn't sell gold I wouldn't care an ounce.
[Locütüs]: im reporting that. intentionally trying to ruin someones gaming experience is again not cool. im gonna put you on ignore now. please dont contact me anymore
To [Locütüs]: But to me, any AH marketeer is a foreigner trying to 'make a living'

Rant - If there's one thing about Nintendo, they still have
Posted 11 years agointegrity.
I've had the Wii U since launch. To save you some calculations, that means a year and ~4~ days. Keep that in mind.
I've been having connectivity issues with the Gamepad for the last 2-3 months. It was noticeable that I had reduced range while playing Wonderful 101. But I could still play from about 8-10 feet from the console. A little annoying but hey, maybe it is something in the house. Well, I got the new Mario, which means hey, I had something new to play. I played it a week ago with some friends, and the Gamepad was kinda being fussy but only glitched from a normal position (~7 ft) once or twice. Then yesterday, I had the friends over again, and it was outright failing even sitting right next to the console. >_>
So I call today to talk to them about a repair. And learn the horrifying truth; that I'm 4 days too late. "Repair will cost $175" .... O.o;;
I stay calm and try not to be totally deflated. In its current state, the console is outright useless. I explain the origin, and duration, and ask to talk to a manager. At first she offers a $25 discount, but I explain I simply cannot afford it, and again ask for a manager. She goes off to talk and comes back, asks something about what I'd be able to afford, I say $50 at most, cuz I understand I'm past the warranty despite the issue being ongoing. And then they say 'free'. Yays! I'm glad they helped me out.
I would have called in sooner on the issue but I simply haven't had anything to play on the system. >.> It's kinda sad that the wireless connection has degraded/failed this early into the system life, so I hope that if any of you have an issue forming, that you call ASAP.
Man... 4 days. Guh! But hey, they helped me out. So, yay Nintendo for not being hardasses. :O
Convention - Attending Furry Fiesta? Take this poll! :3
Posted 12 years agohttp://doodle.com/8sffmvd3dpfyngwq --- Edit: To prevent skewing bias, I've hidden the other participants' answers. ;3
It'll really help me out if you have time. I need to figure out which flavors of puppy chow I should be making this time around. I have too many options, even though I'm going to be making 8 flavors. So I need to narrow it down, heh.
Preview: http://imgur.com/Ry3Sc6k - 25 pouches. I'll have 8 times this amount at Fiesta. ^_^;;

WotDA - Furry Fiesta, Puppy Chow, and Hand Stamps
Posted 12 years agohttp://www.rubberstampchamp.com/Pro.....D-1NCH-ARTWORK
http://www.rubberstampchamp.com/Pro.....roductID=PF-00
I want to get one of these and four colors of ink. Why? Hand stamps for Werewolf participation at Furry Fiesta. I have no way to keep track of the overflow group and I am thinking I need a way to make sure everyone gets Puppy Chow.
Am I being silly? Am I being excessive?
On other news, I placed an order with LorAnn Oils of $75. I should be set on puppy chow flavoring for quite a while. I will be putting up a poll soon that will be asking you what 8 flavors I should bring to Fiesta.
In other other news, I have contacted Furry Fiesta about this year's scheduling. I'm hoping to make some progress on that sooner than later, as I will be unavailable most of February for such things.

WotDA - Princess, Knight, and Dragon (v2!) (Feedback wanted)
Posted 12 years agoHey everyone. I have some good news. The Princess, Knight, and Dragon may soon be coming to life! But I must first design the layout for their cards. To do that, I need to finalize what text will be available on them. I have two options.
Option 1 is the relevant text on every card. This means that the cards will have the rules on them, but not much art. Between the three cards, most of the gameplay rules will be stated.
Option 2 is flavor text on the three cards, and a fourth card that contains the rules summary. This card will be similar to http://imgur.com/mnsf8mM
Before I post the potential text for each card, I want to take a moment to explain what makes this a version-2. I had a revelation while on the road this weekend. The Dragon rarely gets to make that one kill because usually the Princess dies first, taking the Knight with her, rather than the Knight dying on his own. Being a situational event is nice, but it's currently TOO situational. So, I thought, how can I get the Knight to die more often?
Answer: Target redirection.
Huh? What? :P Well, take this example. Werewolves pick someone to die, they happen to choose the Princess. Witch, this is who may die tonight *points to Knight instead*. Do you want to use your healing potion? (No) Do you want to use your poison potion? (Yes) *Witch poisons the Princess* Day phase! Knight dies. That's it. :P Say in the previous example, the Bodyguard had pointed to the Princess. No change, Knight still dies. But if the Bodyguard had picked the Knight, then no one would have died.
Hunter death - Princess would die. Then the Knight would.
Lovers death - Princess would die. Then the Knight would.
Lynching death - Princess would die. Then the Knight would.
This means that there's a much higher chance of the Knight dying on his own than before, which also means a much higher chance of the Dragon making his bonus kill. If you have ANY questions about that, ASK ASK ASK ASK ASK. Feedback is very-much needed before I get this stuff locked down.
That said, here's the tentative options for text:
Princess:
-The Princess knows the identity of the Knight.
-If the Princess would be targeted to die during the Night Phase, instead consider the Knight to be targeted if the Knight is still alive.
-If the Princess dies and the Knight is still alive, the Knight also dies.
-The Princess wins if she is alive when the game ends.
Knight:
-The Knight knows the identity of the Princess.
-If the Princess would be targeted to die during the Night Phase, instead consider the Knight to be targeted if the Knight is still alive.
-If the Princess dies and the Knight is still alive, the Knight also dies.
-The Knight wins if the Princess is alive when the game ends.
Dragon:
-If the Knight dies and the Princess is still alive, the Dragon makes one kill during the following night.
-If the Dragon dies and the Knight is already dead, the Dragon makes three kills immediately.
-If the Dragon kills the Princess, the game ends and the Dragon wins.
OR
(Edit: Final Rules Card!)
Combined:
-The Princess and the Knight know who each other are.
-If the Princess dies, or if the Dragon dies, then the Knight also dies.
-If the Princess would be targeted to die during the Night Phase, instead consider the Knight to be targeted if the Knight is still alive.
-The Princess and the Knight both win if the Princess is alive when the game ends, in addition to the normal winners.
-If the Knight dies and the Princess is still alive, the Dragon makes one kill during the following night, before the Werewolves.
-If the Dragon dies and the Knight is already dead, the Dragon makes three kills immediately.
-If the Dragon kills the Princess, the game ends and the Dragon wins.
Princess:
The Princess has been transported from her kingdom to a strange land of Werewolves and magic. The Dragon has followed her to this land, but thankfully so has her trusted Knight.
Knight:
The Knight has followed his Princess to a strange land of Werewolves and magic. His duty is to protect the Princess, even at the cost of his own life. He is eternally at odds with the ferocious Dragon.
Dragon:
The Dragon's goal in life is to destroy the Princess and end the royal line once and for all, even at the cost of his own life. Unfortunately, that pesky Knight is blocking his efforts at every turn.
(For a spacing comparison, here's the wordiest role currently in the game:)
Witch:
The Witch has two single-use potions, one for healing and one for poisoning. She is shown who may die during the night phase and may save them with her healing potion. She may also use her poison potion to kill any one person.

Convention - Oklacon 2013 - BIG THANK YOU'S
Posted 12 years agoFirst off, a general thank you to everyone. Thank you to those that tipped, thank you to those who helped out, and thank you to those that simply enjoyed playing. Every one of you is important and I really really did end up having a nice time this year.
That said I want to give the biggest thank you's to the following:
khonasfox
This guy... He's such a big fan of Werewolf, that for future years of both Oklacon and Wild Nights, it's unlikely that Werewolf will be in need of more event space. He spent a lot of time helping out and when he and a few others sat and talked to the con at the end of things, he really helped show the con the quality of people that come to these things largely for my event. Just, seriously, wow at everything you did and are doing.
nuka-kitty
Oh, Nuka. You actually got misled in that no-reveal game so badly. But you loved every minute of it. I give you the same sort of thanks that I'm giving Kfox, for the things you did for me. It was great hanging out with you, and I think I'll listen to what someone else said to me before the convention: I am not as much of a nobody as I may feel like. You're a very well known person in the fandom and it's very flattering to have you think so highly of my event, and my talents in executing it.
7sevin7
I know I say some RAWR things sometimes, but you stick by me and treat me well. I may be opinionated about all sorts of things, but those opinions are largely just me being cynical and venting. XD It was great hanging out with you during the con, and you and Kfox were both great emotional support. Believe me, you have my respect. :)
hartthefox
Hart, you jerk, why aren't you or Zapper watching me on here??? Zephyr isn't either! XD But that aside, it was great having you there every night. I could really tell you were loving every minute of it. And I've gotta say, it was fun counter-claiming Oracle against you. :D But yeah, you helped make things really fun for everyone. A great mix of silly, enthusiastic, and focused. Hope you got that giant die home safely, lol.
All in all, my convention costs were covered entirely, and I have enough left over for some new shoes and an oil change / car wash. Both quite needed. I -WILL- be attending Wild Nights this year, in addition to the already-known-about Furry Fiesta (gah, I need to get with them about scheduling/location). I also -WILL- be back to Oklacon next year. It was great to feel so welcome and loved by the fans of the game. I wish I had some stories to post of 'my favorite game moments' but I got so brain fried this convention that I honestly can't remember much of anything. Feel free to share your favorite moments, though.
I love hearing things about how I can improve, and I love hearing things that people enjoyed and things they remember positively. :3
PS: Nuka, umm, what's this? http://i.imgur.com/RFAlnOA.jpg I ... umm ... what? Why do I have... this? XD This is YOUR con-reg bag! But that's not the part that confuses me, because it's not like it was simply left in the A-frame somewhere, nor was it stashed upstairs (or maybe it was...?) No, it just magically appeared next to my giant pile of stuff during the time I was waiting for a decent parking space to load my car up. I was up there around 20 minutes, I come back down to where I dragged my block of luggage to outside A-frame 1, and right there on the ground, just sitting there, completely whole, was a convention goodie bag. With... your name on it. I am soooooo confused since no one would mistake the two of us, but it also wasn't just some random person's goodie bag. So how did I end up with it?!?! XD Forever a mystery. :O
Edit to above: I finally peeked in and there were two con books, a not-at-all-custom D20, and what seemed to be a signed print of the back image of the conbook. But that's it. So I am even more confused what I ended up with. I just know the bag said Nuka and could only figure someone left it with me for a reason. XD
Edit to con stuff in general: It's good to hear things are being worked on across the board. So here's hoping stuff will be better by next year. ^_^

Convention - Oklacon, yayz :3
Posted 12 years agoKay, getting all prepped for Oklacon. All three batches of puppy chow turned out just fine. Got all the odds and ends for Werewolf together. Got all my sleeping stuff together. Pretty much good to go aside from sandwiches and the final packing tomorrow.
Not much else to say right now. Gonna post the Werewolf flyer for this event.

Rant - Oklacon Headaches - Some issues resolved
Posted 12 years agoJust providing an update on recent drama. The registration issue has been taken care of. Daxter has been great to work with, and I understand that often his hands are tied on certain issues. He's been a great point of contact overall, and aside from not knowing how to best deal with an Aspie at times, it's been a refreshing experience.
The issue of the theft accusation still remains, but it should be noted that this issue is largely about HG. It's caused me an untold amount of stress over the last year, and I suspect it will give me several headaches at the con. But for now, I've said what I can about that issue, and have no reason to bring it up further unless someone asks me about Pred Prey.
All things considered, Oklacon SHOULD go fairly well at this point. I should be having minimal contact with the staff, and have everything arranged in regards to Werewolf. :3 I'll have my tip jar with me, and three batches of Puppy Chow. I'm currently debating bringing my sound system (basic version) because I've become so accustomed to it. But Oklacon is the one convention I've actually had little problem with sound. The only advantage would be for me as the GM to not have to yell.
What do you guys think? The sound quality won't be the best, but I should have the room in my car to bring the small speakers and the basic PA system, as well as the wireless gear. Is that going to be overkill for this group? I'm really not sure. :O Maybe I'll bring it and then not use it after the first day if it felt unnecessary. I love having the microphones to keep focus on who is having to defend themselves and who made the accusation, though......

Is that going to be overkill for this group? I'm really not sure. :O Maybe I'll bring it and then not use it after the first day if it felt unnecessary. I love having the microphones to keep focus on who is having to defend themselves and who made the accusation, though......
Rant - Oklacon Headaches - semi important for Oklacon-goers

Recently I've been trying to resolve things with Oklacon in regards to Werewolf and convention registration. Let's just say things are NOT going well. Aside from the usual slow contact when it comes to furry conventions, last year there was some MAJOR drama: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/3955586/ which has still not blown over. I suspect it will cause several issues throughout the convention as I have no tolerance for being treated like shit over something that exists only in someone's imagination. That said, I have still decided to run Werewolf (and ONLY Werewolf) this coming Oklacon.
But here's where the problems come in. I started trying to contact them August 14th. On August 17th, I was directed to the person assigned to replace me.
On August 17th, I contacted him, receiving a reply on August 18th. The conversation actually went rather well. I was told I could be the one in charge of Werewolf, and he even made a deck purchase. Yays! Of course, I have NO clue who I'm talking to or who they are in regards to Oklacon staff because such things are rarely communicated. Last communication was August 19th with most things resolved. On August 27th, I e-mailed him about comped registration. Despite what records show, I could swear I was comped on my reg at least once of the last two years.
Anyway, here's where things start to become a headache. I received no e-mail back from him. I re-emailed September 9th, getting a shortly worded not-my-problem type reply shortly after. Alright, I'm off to talk to someone else at Oklacon. I get put in touch with Daxter. Now, I like Daxter. He's a cool guy, and he's been one of the few staffers to not treat me like dirt in the last 5 years. I mean, I know I'm a pain in the butt but really, I don't ask for much.
I email him September 14th, saying I've taken over for Werewolf, and am seeking comped registration. It isn't until September 19th that I get a reply, but replies are timely for that entire day, getting MOST everything resolved. He's stated that he'll do his best to keep other staffers out of my way, and it was resolved that, for whatever reasons, comped registration would not be provided despite putting in 30 hours of 'volunteer' work last year, and planning to put in another 20+ volunteer hours this year. Why not? Because I'm not running Pred Prey this year. Riiiight. This is, mind you, other people telling Dax what to say to me.
A deal is cut, and I am to pay half the price. I resolve to not be a hard-ass about things, and accept the $19 registration fee. This conversation is wrapped up by me on September 20th. I then realize that I'm not getting any guidance in regards to how I need to go about actually PAYING for this reduced pre-registration rate. Nothing in the e-mail chain was ever said about procedure. The last convention I worked with, a local board game convention, was very straight forward. "Sign up at the site, and when it comes to paying, just ignore that part. Simple as that." So I sent another email on September 24th that said:
"Let me know where to send that $19 and how to go about all of it. :) *goes to work on Flyer*"
I did not receive a reply. At all.
My next contact with him was October 6th, when I e-mailed him again, to confirm one last time that nothing had happened to the scheduled times for Werewolf (because this stuff frequently will randomly change without contacting the event coordinator -- at least it's been known to happen at various cons) as well as the following line about pre-registration:
"And as far as pre-registration goes. I have not done that yet as I need a final go ahead from you, including how I should go about it / what process you want me to use. Please write me back so we can take care of that."
I did not hear back from him until October 7th, where I am told that pre-registration is closed and I will be forced to pay an additional $10.

... Apparently their pre-reg closed on October 2nd. Several weeks after our discussion, several days after the previous time I tried to ask for help with the procedure. I have been trying hard to get everything resolved and all delays in communication outside of my personal delay during the transition of communicating with the previous person and communicating with Dax have been outside of my control. I have been more than willing to accept their terms, and now I'm being punished for something that I have no control over.
This convention really seems to have many people that hate me. I'm not trusted, I've been called a thief, I've been treated like dirt. I know I was a bit of an ass in the past. I know I've had some of my share of drama at the convention in earlier years (4-6 years ago), but I've been a respected entertainer that's putting HIS pocketbook on the line for entertaining others. Yet they are doing everything they can behind the scenes to make this a living nightmare for me.
I simply want to attend the convention, stay as far from any of the staff and any of the events as possible, and spend the night-time half of my convention entertaining those that attend who have respected me in the past and supported my creative venture -- Werewolves of the Dark Arts. Why is this so difficult?
Did you know that every other convention I have been to has had NO issues whatsoever in fully comping my registration? Did you know that I only eat two of the however-many meals that Oklacon serves because the rest are too early or have dietary issues for me that cause me to avoid them? I bring my own food. I could even do-without on the meh selection of entrees that they decide to boil up. It's not stuff I'd normally eat anyway. The convention costs them next-to-nothing for me to be there, and my attendance helps to entertain 20+ attendees on a nightly basis. So WHY is it that this doesn't qualify as enough to comp me on registration when for EVERY other convention, running that much stuff for the con is an automatic comped registration? WHY is this such a headache with this specific convention???
Also, many of you know, I subsist on government income. Disability for Aspergers. I don't have much money to spend, and I spend even less on travel these days than in the past. I've begun to take tips at local Werewolf events just to make sure that my entertaining of others doesn't cut into my personal finances. I really need the comped registration when it comes to these things; every bit helps me.
*SIGH*
I guess I'm done ranting. Any suggestions on what I should do? I really don't think I should be forced to pay the extra $10 for something that is entirely the fault of delayed correspondence, and to be honest I still don't think I should be paying a single dollar to the convention that treats me like a criminal despite busting my ass harder than at any other convention in the past. I'll pay the $19 if needed but I see no reason I should be forced to pay at-the-door pricing for THEIR mistake.

Furmeet - Terraria 1.2 LAN Launch Party, Oct 1st 5pm
Posted 12 years agoHey everyone! There's a new epic-sized patch coming out for Terraria 1.2 in a little over a week. I'd like to celebrate this by actually getting to play the game multiplayer. I have 6 devices in the house that can run Terraria (I can load my Steam account onto each of them) and that doesn't even count those that bring their own laptops. Desktops are not ideal for this so I probably would stick you on a local device first, and then set up the desktop if needed.
This party will begin at ~5PM and I'll be playing all night. Again, you do not have to own or know how to play Terraria in order to enjoy this! The only need is a willingness to stick around and dig-and-build for 3+ hours. I am dying to play some multiplayer, but my bandwidth is too awful to host over the web. Running a Local Area Network session is way faster and more reliable, plus it's great fun to shout at each other across the house. :P Additionally, when you have to leave, I can zip up the world and your character and e-mail them to you so you can continue on your own if you wish. :D
I'll likely provide some amount of pizza and soda, but bringing of other food is appreciated.
October 1st
5PM - 3AM
608 Wagon Wheel
Round Rock, TX 78681
(Look for the car with a ton of fox plushes. :P)
PS: If you are following me for Werewolves of the Dark Arts, I highly suggest keeping up with the WerewolfDarkArts Facebook page. As much as I personally hate Facebook, it's a reliable place to keep people up to date with events and event summaries. And yes, I'm hosting it at Oklacon. Details are being finalized and flyer will be made soon.

Werewolves of the Dark Arts - IMPORTANT INFO FOR ALL FANS
Posted 12 years agohttps://www.facebook.com/WerewolfDarkArts
I will be using this for future Werewolf discussion (for the most part). Conventions I am running WW at will be posted about there, as well as local events / any other public hosting. Posting will be kept to a minimum (a few events a month + summaries). If you're a fan of the game, please follow there.
As a bonus, the backstory of how WotDA was created is posted at the bottom of the page. IN CASE YOU EVER WONDERED!

[S. Austin Event] Werewolves of the Dark Arts, August 15th
Posted 12 years agoThursday, August 15th, 2013
~6:30 PM to ~12:30 AM
Werewolves of the Dark Arts is a variant of the social party game 'Mafia'. You'll get a card and it will have an identity on it. You know yours, but not anyone else's. Your goal is either to eliminate the Werewolves, or stay alive / help the Werewolves stay alive until they can take the village by force.
I, Tobias Amaranth, am the creator of this version of the game, and if you'd like to learn more, please visit http://werewolfdarkarts.com/ for more information on the game. I recommend this for any first timers. :)
Additionally, I now have a business page on Facebook that I will be posting all Werewolf events to: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Were.....84713058334399 (INCLUDING THE CONVENTIONS I INTEND TO RUN WEREWOLF AT)
This is the 11th month being hosted at Whose Turn Is It Games. Next month will be extra special, so look forward to that. We meet up in the secondary gaming space, look for the circle of people in chairs. Please try and arrive as early as possible. I plan on starting the first round at around 6:50-7:00. Depending on the size of a group, a round can last 45 minutes or more.
There will be miscellaneous quick games played elsewhere in the room for those who die early and have no interest in watching the outcome. Spot It, Cards Against Humanity, and Fluxx are popular choices.
Werewolf is a great social experience, a fun way to meet new people, and even to improve your social skills by better understanding how to read other people.
(This event is free to attend, however tips are appreciated and go towards electronics upkeep, gas costs, food, etc. I also will have copies of the game available for sale if anyone would like to own the game themselves.)

Furmeet/Event - Werewolves of the Dark Arts (S. Austin) 7/11
Posted 12 years agoThursday, July 11, 2013
~6:30 PM to ~1:00 AM
Tenth monthly meet-up of the Mafia variant: Werewolves of the Dark Arts. Previous month reached 21 at the largest with a few more than that on total attendees. Hope everyone liked the white chocolate stuff I brought. :3 Darned failed baking experiments. I'll find a way to make that work for puppy chow in the future.
http://werewolfdarkarts.com/ for more information on the game. Mostly up to date. What did you guys think of the Mystery games? (Option Deck style) I think they worked rather well, personally. I'm going to try to push for no-reveal this month. New people are still welcome, but expect some cut-throatedness.
This meet-up is planned for the SECOND Thursday of the month. Please arrive AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE, with planned start time of 7PM. Leave early to avoid traffic if needed. ;) Remember that we need 10 attendees to begin the first round. Also, remember that it may take 30 minutes (or more) before the current round finishes if you show up late, but hey, watching is often quite fun. :D
(This meetup will take place in the secondary gaming space of Whose Turn Is It Games.)
2708 S Lamar Blvd #100b, Austin, TX
(While this is not a furry specific meetup, it's run by me and furries are more than welcome. :D)

Shirt.Woot - Patriotic Foxes misses printing by only 7 votes
Posted 12 years agoEvery vote on these things counts these days. Moral of the story is don't be lazy. There's some good news to be had, but I'll share that tomorrow. 7 votes would have put it at 4th, a special case printing this derby. Another 5 beyond that would have put it at 3rd.
And sorry for no monthly werewolf tales, I haven't played at the last two months' meets. I've been testing out / refining Mystery games among other things.

Gaming - My first Kickstarter investment! - Chasm
Posted 12 years agohttp://www.kickstarter.com/projects.....ordgames/chasm
I decided to finally try out this 'Kickstarter' thing. I'm behind the times but I need to know more about it. I have creative freelance friends and at some point in the future I may decide to use a Kickstarter model in order to reach full publication of my Werewolf game.
There is a demo available of the game in its current state and I found it to be rather enjoyable. It's a mix between a 2D Diablo and a retro action platformer. The loot, in case you don't notice on your first playthrough, can actually have higher quality. I found a blue and a gold version of items that were stronger and even stronger versions of their white bases. A neat touch. You can choose two pieces of equipment and I'm sure they'll figure out a way to make more than just swords viable. Either way, it was relaxing to play through it, beat things up, and get random loot. After three times through the demo, still finding new rooms and new neatness, I decided I'd make this my virgin Kickstarter investment.
Give it a look and see what you think. :)
PS: I really have to wonder if Gatorade is contributing to my pain. I was better for a while during a time I was careful and not drinking Gatorade. And the pain was absent-to-ghostly. But now it's back and I'm not sure which element to blame if not a combination. Maybe I'm just being paranoid about the break in routine of drink selection and looking for something to blame other than age. At least the pain is only dull and stiff rather than sharp and unbearable. Mostly centered around my back but some at my shoulders.
Anyway, time to go post the next Monthly Werewolf meetup.
