Updated Profile Info
General | Posted 13 years agoReplaced that one-liner filler that's been there with links to the websites you can find me in, as well as (importantly) the list of artwork I still owe people and their status of completion. Hoping to finally start picking up on my lackluster performance on art and try to get them done in a more timely manner.
Digital Commissions - 2 slots (Closed)
General | Posted 13 years agoEdit: Thank you for commissioning! I will be spending the next few days working on them and hopefully have everything finished, along with the last of the xmas requests by the end of the month.
Commission sheet can be found here: http://fc00.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2.....le-d5x10zj.jpg
All important correspondence will be by e-mail at TigerBeaconCommissions@gmail.com, as well as any inquiries, requests, and payment information. You can also send a note here, but I'm more likely to address your message faster through e-mail.
I'm more likely to open more slots in the future once I've finished the current two as well as some remaining art requests.

General | Posted 13 years agoDid they add ads to the site? When they changed the banners, there are like...three more advertising banners scattered around the pages on FA now. I'm pretty sure its not my Adblock not being active because its working for every other site.
Its just a little annoying seeing this stuff constantly flashing- can't concentrate on stuff.

Oh BTW
General | Posted 13 years agoI do have a Tumblr: http://taddle.tumblr.com
Its the only place I'm really active at (aside from my messengers) so if you want to get in touch with me with anything at all...there ya go.
I also put my life updates and stuff, whatever art and doodles I do, and reblog a lot of art references and funny nonsense.

Update + Your Opinion
General | Posted 13 years agoA quick personal update that may or may not be relevant to you, but does explain the lack of activity recently. My bf, who had been helping support our living arrangement, left to Texas around the middle of December due to a family emergency. Although he rathered we both left together, it was too big an opportunity for him to pass up, and we agreed I would follow as soon as I could save money. Guam, to put it in short, is a nice place to stay, but is extremely expensive to live; a little less than Hawaii, but unlike Hawaii, is not as accessible and is a bit too small to support its own economy, so jobs are always in stiff competition, not to mention what I do earn now is only sufficient enough for the bills I need to pay and not much for setting aside.
So as soon as I'm finished with the Christmas requests, I'm planning on attempting commissions again, and a few other things a friend suggested to me which I need people's opinion on. Would anyone be interested in character adoptables and -Your Character Here- stuff? For adoptables, I'm much more adept at designing feral/fantasy creatures than anthros, but if people like anthro designs more, I'd attempt to do those instead (not to say I wouldn't do anthros, but it would help me focus on which is more interesting to everyone).
As for 'Your Character Here' things, I'm leaning more on doing characters centered around big environments or action scenes (quite like the Pokemon splash battles like Inferno Finale, Ring of Ice, Nidoking used Surf, etc), while another instance could be centered around adult-themed work. The quality of the piece becomes more refined the higher the bid, which I feel would be a more fair appropriation of how much work I should do(because either way, I do attempt to do my best on it).
So hopefully there would be enough people interested enough that I can dedicate my time more to drawing cause hot damn, this is actually the most I've been drawing in a long time! o_O

Christmas Art Requests [CLOSED]
General | Posted 13 years agoI want to get back into drawing and figured Christmas would be a good start.
Well, to be honest, I wanted to join a Secret Santa but I couldn't find any that I was comfortable with (and those I would be comfortable with are invite only). Aside from that, when it came to thinking of my wishlist, I don't really have much I want other people to draw surprisingly. So like...instead of moping around, I could do some arts for some people. I decided to start early because I wanted it all to be done by the new year.
So I'm opening 30 slots. Ten will be here and ten will be on my other two accounts (Tumblr and DA). I have the feeling that all my accounts have divided interests and there are certain subjects I'd like to draw, like furries here, fandoms (Homestuck, TF2, etc) on Tumblr, and Pokemon/Digimon stuff on DA. But whatever you want I'll try to do it regardless of where you request.

EDIT: Don't forget guys to send your requests! You can do it in the journal here or through the notes! As for what I can do or don't- well, short of having some elaborate armored/mechanized character, I really haven't turned down a subject, so its really up to what you're asking and I'll let you know if I can do or not.
EDIT 2: Request information includes character(s) to be drawn, a reference (or description) and whatever else you'd like. Please note that these drawings aren't going to be like my 'standard' quality- I'm not going to spend too much time with them so please don't expect too many details or true-to-preference (meaning I would prefer not to keep cross-checking and editing for accuracy).

Standby...
General | Posted 13 years agoThere is a 75% chance I may be active again.
My length of inactivity here is more or less proportional to the length of time I have been artistically inept, incapacitated or otherwise just too damn busy with IRL shenanigans. So many shenanigans in which I won't indulge in right now, but more or less have been gigantic stressors I've had to devote time and effort to deal with. Life has equalized somewhat, I still deal with a lot of emotional stress which has culminated to a point where I -had- to pick up a pen to distract myself before I kill myself from the growing migraine.
You know how they say the hardest part is just starting? But once you do, everything just kind of flows, and that's what's been happening now. I've entered a few tournaments on DA and bought premium membership just to motivate me to keep going. I haven't been quite satisfied with the progress of my art, but I feel I've reached certain landmarks I've spend most of my life trying to reach which I feel comfortable in my style. There's still more I want to learn and experiment with, and I'm working to setting up the marks that would motivate me to work on them in between my responsibilities.
I have a bunch of sites that have fragmented a lot of my works in between them. I initially wanted to organize them to separate fanworks, original works, scraps, personal blogs, etc. I'm not sure what the plan is now, but I still hold firm to the belief that its a lot better to have a varied, spread out venue that different crowds can reach rather than be restricted in one place. And I want this place, FA, to be one of them, because I still love drawing anthros and animals and I think the people here would appreciate them the most.
So...its not exactly a promise. Its a plan which I hope will follow through.

New Pokemon Trippin Commissions
General | Posted 14 years agoHello. My life has been stabilizing as of late, though we’re still in a bit of a financial bind. I’m planning to try to move to a new place, though at the moment my art is all that’s been getting me by so far due to lack of transportation. If you know anyone that would like some cheap commissions, please feel free to refer them to my page here: http://tigerbeacon.blogspot.com/p/c.....-guide_30.html
I’ve recently been hanging around a Pokemon group on DA and it’s been the major inspiration I need to practice my art again. There are very few subjects that can really interest me enough to draw (besides were-type anthros), so I’ve decided that maybe I can extend my Poketrippin’ by adding commissions for it, because I love redesigning different Pokemon.
I can do $10 portrait commissions like this one: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/6680847
A set of three Pokemon can go for up to $25
A set of six Pokemon can go for up to $45
Background scenes includes can add $5 up to the cost
These aren't absolute values- they vary depending on complexity and size so depending on the subject/scene, can be lower, though these are the highest I'll charge. I’ll start to resume Livestreaming again when I can and maybe offer a 20% discount to people who request commissions during the stream.
Hopefully I’ll be having more time to draw lately. After months of having lack of inspiration, it feels good to be able to create something satisfying and new.

Commissions, Livestreaming, and a humble request
General | Posted 14 years agoI know I haven’t been around much lately. I’ll leave the majority of my explanations back at my blog (http://tigerbeacon.blogspot.com) if you want to know the full story, but I’ll parse it down to the essential elements of the purpose of this journal as best I can.
A friend of mine, for some reason, never renewed the registration of his van (which he generously let me drive), which inevitably led to being caught by the police and issued a citation for it. Unfortunately, I was driving at the time without any idea of it being expired. So at the moment I’m currently looking at what is potentially a five hundred dollar ticket I have to pay by August 28th, of which can only be paid AFTER I settle other necessary requirements, which include purchasing the registration and insurance for the vehicle.
‘But this is your friend’s fault, why don’t you make him pay for it?” Because my friend, to put it quite kindly, is an idiot. Or desperate. And currently more broke than I am. His cousin, the only close family he has here, is unable to help, only barely having a job himself and a family to take care of. I’ve begged and tried to negotiate with relatives to help, but they either cannot grasp the simplicity of what I’m trying to request (I simply need them to help register the vehicle in their name since myself and everyone else is apparently ineligible for different reasons) or just plain don’t want to help. I only barely have enough money from my meager savings to cover maybe half the costs, and none left for my personal needs and required licenses that I planned to get for jobs (health certificates and ABC licenses for bartending jobs). Hell, I can’t even <i>get</i> a job to pay for everything simply because every one of them requires a car to get to and from work, and my relatives are unwilling to let me borrow theirs (and them using it from 6am to 12am makes it unfeasible to coordinate), which is why I’m really pushing hard with them helping me get this van registered so I can actually -work-.
I don’t really have anyone else I can ask for help, so it was a decision to either potentially go to jail (I’ve…never in my life have ever gotten in trouble with the law. I don’t know what happens if I can’t pay off the citation.) or try to peddle commissions, even if the amount would be too meager to cover what I need. The last thing I want to do is beg for money- I’ve seen too many people do that already and I don’t want to be labeled off as another one of those artists asking their watchers to help fund their trip to Disneyland. This is a bit more important than that, and while I’ve been lax with doing commissions in the past, I think its time that I start looking at them seriously as a real job. Because, at the moment, my life quite literally depends on it.
I’ve decided to go back to Livestreaming, doing quick $5 Chibi and sketch commissions, and maybe the occasional complicated piece (if people are willing to actually sit long enough to watch those). They’re the cheapest and fastest commissions I’m offering right now (besides the $4 really nice lineart Chibis), but I’m still open to other types. All the information, works I’m offering, prices and procedures can be found on this commissions guide: http://tigerbeacon.blogspot.com/p/c.....-guide_30.html (you can also click on Foulu’s face on the right side of my blog with the word ‘Commissions’). Alternatively, you can just pop in during a stream session and ask about it and I’ll be happy to discuss it with you.
Even if you can’t afford a commission, I’d appreciate if people can let other people know that I’m offering them. So they can let more people know, and they can let more people know…? And maybe one of those people would want something nice? Any kind of help would be greatly appreciated at this point.

# I'm well aware that there are still a few commissions left over that I owe people and have yet to finish, mostly because of having no motivation to work and the ensuing events stated above. I -never- forget commissions, and to be sure, will be one of the first I'll attempt to finish aside from the chibi commissions over Livestream (assuming it wasn't adult-themed).

Downtime
General | Posted 14 years agoI apologize for disappearing. At first I didn't think it was relevant to anyone my plans, but I still have commissioners waiting for their pieces so I thought they should at least know. But due to scheduling and other things grabbing my attention I keep forgetting to post.
Well, the gist of it is I'm moving to Guam where I'll hopefully find work. I'm taking the flight tonight and will be arriving at for in the morning local time. I'll be finishing up the commissions as soon as I'm settled there. Apologies again for making everyone wait.

Group Art Sessions, Anyone?
General | Posted 15 years agoSo a friend and I were thinking about how uninspiring it is to practice doing art by ourselves and thought how much more motivating it was to work with other artists together at the same time. Unfortunately, neither of us have a readily-available group of art-oriented friends to do sessions with, so I thought that maybe there would be others around who would be interested in joining us. It doesn't matter if you're a novice or better than us (in which case, why you hanging out with us losers? XD; )- its about getting together and just working on something interesting at the moment, passing on helpful critique and advice in-between random banter about nothing important and just showing off our mad skillz. Even if you don't draw (or don't have anything to record yourself drawing), you could just pop in to join or talk with us and keep us from getting bored.
So I’ve set up a TinyChat room specifically for that purpose. If you’d like to sit down and broadcast, or just lurk around to chat, please feel free to! There are a few stipulations though I request people to abide:
- Keep it civil
- Keep it clean
- The broadcast is focused mostly for art streams. I don’t mind occasional random broadcasts of other things but attempt to keep them at minimum
TinyChat : http://tinychat.com/tigerbeacon
Chatroom Password: arting
Broadcasting Password: morearting
Notes: If you like to broadcast art streams, note you will need a desktop capture program for it. A popular option is ManyCam (download here: http://download.manycam.com/ ). Simply open up the program and set it up as an additional camera source, and TinyChat will automatically detect it.
With that, have fun!

Japan Earthquake, Global Unrest
General | Posted 15 years agohttp://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-mid.....12307698#video = BBC coverage of the event. If you can watch the live coverage, good for you.
I've been following it all afternoon. Earthquakes and Japan isn't uncommon news, but this isn't the usual earthquake. Its an earthquake that practically leveled an entire coastal community, flooded far inland, threatening one of the most compact and heavily populated urban city there (Tokyo), and done so much other heavy shit.
200-300 bodies are reported to have been seen at the disaster site. A ship of 100 people was swept away by the tsunami. A <i>passenger train</i> is reported missing. And on top of that, around 88,000 people are reported missing. If the water and the earthquake wasn't bad enough, there is now a state of emergency as one of the nuclear reactors is threatening to become a danger area when its cooling systems malfunctioned. And that the aftershocks of the quake are now spreading tsunami warnings all over neighboring countries, going even as far as the US coasts.
We had warnings here as well, but weren't affected by anything substantial, thank goodness for that. But its been said the waves would be going on for hours, so people are still on alert for it. Other countries are reporting higher than normal waves, but nothing potentially damaging so far.
Prayers going out to all of Japan and everyone affected. Its the kind of thing where you look and think on that maybe Mother Nature is getting pretty pissed off as of late. It hasn't been a good year so far for the planet.

I'm going to be finishing a character commission and maybe a few other things, so if you're interested, you can come and join me on Livestream. Still setting up but I'll be on in a few minutes:

Streamin [DONE'd]~
General | Posted 15 years agoI’d like to thank everyone who commissioned me for the Valentine period. Hope you guys enjoyed yourselves then. And had gratuitous amounts of chocolate~
Anyway, streaming one of my commissions I admittedly should have finished a few days ago, but kept running into some problems. Want to watch me fiddle around with colors and whatnot?
Tiger Beacon’s Livestream
EDIT: Finished for now. Still experimenting on the colors and stuffs.

Valentines Commissions (UPDATE)
General | Posted 15 years agoUPDATE (2-11-11):
I've been out of commission for a few days due to a persistent migraine that kept me from work. Just a note to current commissioners that I'm still working on your orders and why I've been quiet for the past few days.
For everyone else, I am still taking these commissions at these special prices until the 14th! Even if its not for Valentine's Day, it would make a good deal as these commissions allow for two characters in the same picture instead of one. :>
Happy Death by Chocolate Day~! (wish I could spend some time with my darling. *sigh*)
While we’re on the subject of Valentines commissions, I am also offering my own set of special commissions up until Feb 14 as a test run. Stuff I’m offering are:
Couples Commissions - Up to two subjects included per order, soft shaded and with simple/plain background. (Color style samples: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/5150092/ , http://www.furaffinity.net/view/5150139/ , http://www.furaffinity.net/view/5150176/ )
$5 Chibi – Super-deformed/miniaturized characters
$10 Busts – Head to chest shots of characters
$15 Full Bodied – Complete full body shots
Additional costs:
Additional characters (A third character or more) - +$5 per character
Also please note I’m avoiding doing backgrounds for the moment because I want these to be fast and simple works and being able to focus on the subjects than worrying about additional environmental elements.
All interested inquiries for both commissions (The Valentine's collaboration and mine) can be inquired here or at my e-mail at Tigerbeacon[at]hotmail.com .
Readysetgo~
I've been out of commission for a few days due to a persistent migraine that kept me from work. Just a note to current commissioners that I'm still working on your orders and why I've been quiet for the past few days.
For everyone else, I am still taking these commissions at these special prices until the 14th! Even if its not for Valentine's Day, it would make a good deal as these commissions allow for two characters in the same picture instead of one. :>

Valentine's Commissions
General | Posted 15 years agoValentines Day is right around the corner. Given any thought to do something nice for that special someone in your life? Got your heart set on that little cutie or that hunk of man meat but just too shy to say ‘hi’? No worries! There are plenty of other ways of telling the object of your affections just how special to you they really are!
Except we don’t know what those other ways are…we just make greeting cards with your personalized messages stylized on super-fancy stationary background and a really cute picture drawn by us. We’ll even give you the option of either letting us send your little love note to that special someone (thus conveniently bypassing all the block filters your elusive prey has set up against you), or doing it yourself (so you can creep them out by finally confessing that you demonstrate your devotion to them by praying to an effigy of their head made of bubblegum and taffy hidden in your closet every morning, noon and night).
At an affordable $6, it’s the quickest and easiest way to express your most heartfelt longings in the most personal and professionally-designed manner.
tl;dr: Me and ~BNMotive (http://bnmotive.deviantart.com/) have collaborated on a simple little Valentine's commission project. $6 gives you a cut little chibi-sized artwork of yourself and your special someone (or target of your affections, or you dog or...anything you feel you want, really), with a little stationary background where you can write whatever little love note you like, and you have the extra option of letting us deliver it to your special someone (anonymously or no) on Valentines Day.

First Week on FA
General | Posted 15 years agoSo I’ve been mucking around FA for a week now. It was an…interesting transition, no easier than I would’ve imagined. I’ve hung around in the forums a bit…I think I may have gotten to the swing of the site, now. And, as I figured, there are a ton of amazing artists in here, some which even have DA accounts but don’t seem to be as well-known there as they are here. It might be that the community here is a lot closer-knit, but I may only be discovering a small part of an even larger circle, though roaming around different galleries I usually end up going back to the same artists.
One thing that surprised me here in FA is that people really seem to appreciate original characters more than fan art. I received more feedback on my Lapiths than everything else (which are mostly just Pokemon stuff), and I’m quite honestly pleased with it. If it was one thing that irked me about DA (and led to the subsequent gallery purging) was that people there only seemed to be more attracted to fanart than original works. From time to time I would get around thirty consecutive faves on pictures that only featured Pokemon, Keroro, or some other anime I was into at the time…sometimes even from only –one- person. >3>; I decided that my DA account was better suited for fanart and my original art would be put up elsewhere, though until now I really hadn’t figured where. FA seemed to be the right choice.
More than ever I feel more motivated to develop my Lapith story as well as another story revolving around werepeople, as soon as I get the time. At the moment I’m helping along developing a comic for a friend, which I figure would be good practice for me to get into sequential art (fancy name for comicking, lol), as well as trying to get a commission page and a portfolio up. People have been telling me to make one for months but I never felt my work was up to professional tier yet. Although now that I have the time to sit down and experiment, maybe I can finally get along to that.
Anyway, I’m loving FA so far. You guys are all so rad! :3

An Introductory Journal
General | Posted 15 years agoSo, good day one and all. As a first journal, I suppose its only right to introduce myself.
My handle is Tiger Beacon. Its a funny sort of name that just stuck with me for as long as I’ve been on the internet, though I never started using it as a main handle until I’ve found out Shadowheart is far too common a handle to adequately register accounts to without adding a noobish ‘0808’ at the end. I also more commonly go by Taddle, though I feel it’s a bit more of a personal moniker than something I would like to associate a professional name to (cause lets face it, I’m far from professional >3> ).
So I’ve been drawing for as long as I’ve been able to use pencils and paper, crayons and all the lovely art stuff school used to teach me. I felt it was something I could do as my professional calling, though circumstances have unfortunately turned otherwise. Still, I do it more or less as a hobby and a side job whenever I have the time and motivation to, as I’m always looking to improve my work. I also enjoy working with crafts, be it needlework or sculpting, though I rarely have the opportunity to practice in those areas.
I do like coming up with original concepts and characters, but I’ve found it difficult to do without a setting as well as other players to create something of value. I’ve been big on RPing back then and have created a dozen different characters (some admittedly a slightly revised version of older characters), though now that I’ve since quit that (due to lack of interesting RP boards and time to write as I usually do), I have more been concentrating on fan art as subjects for my work. Usually, I find them more interesting to work with, so it gives me the motivation I need, which is a big factor in helping me keep my interest to improve. Another interest of mine is revising characters in my own personal style. Not often is there much of a difference (and sometimes the original design is far better than what I could come up with), but I find it fun.
Anyway, moving on to why I’ve decided (after two years apparently) to make this an active and fully functioning account. I don’t remember the first time I heard about FurAffinity. Maybe it was from watching a person that drew anthros on DeviantArt, or from browsing Encyclopedia Dramatica…either way, I felt it would be an interesting place for me since I was big on drawing animals and such and made an account. I think one of the first things I did was take down the mature filter. BIG MISTAKE. I went back to the site to prepare to move in when ‘WHAM’- bloody magnificent images on the front page that more or less scared me out of coming back here again. I don’t remember what I’ve seen but it was bad enough to subconsciously warn me never to return. After recent events however, notably me purging my DA gallery out of anger and setting up a blog, I decided to give FurAffinity a try. It didn’t make sense for me not to; after all, every way I see it I, –AM- a furry artist. And as far as I can tell this is one of the more larger and popular furry communities around. As for the mature images that seem to be rampant on the site...DA is pretty much the same thing (although perhaps to a much lesser degree), so I can’t say its any more worse than what I’ve been exposed to. And the mature filter is down for a reason, so I won’t be putting it back up.
Either way, I’ll prolly sit around for a bit, so hopefully I’ll get to know a few good people and such. I’m a bit miffed I can’t get my avatar up (EDIT: apparently had to enable an avatar feature. Works now. :3 ), but hopefully it will resolve itself soonish. Nice meeting you all.
