Check this out, I found this video of Dan Phillips speaking about what he does with building houses. I didn't even know he had conferenced about his ideas, but he lives in my town and I have actually been in a few of these houses. Very cool stuff.

Okay, so, I'm toying with the idea of opening up commissions for a while to help this one get his butt to FC or possibly an up-and-coming VC con in Canada! However, these would be music commissions, ranging from 50 - 125$ per song, depending on the complexity, number of instruments, changes made, etc. I would make a guide for the specifics, as well as offer remixing, mastering, and tracking services.

I'm fairly proficient with electronic music and the recording arts, but primarily have played electric and bass guitar for about 7 years now. So, what that means is I am able to provide guitar tracks to artists who would otherwise have difficulty learning / recording / finding good players to make tracks for their music as well as providing songs for people to use as soundtracks to games or flash videos, or even for their own enjoyment. I have already done two full commissions for songs on a more informal basis.

On a side note I may also open up super cheap art commissions. No one has seemed interested in these in the past so I won't expect them to take very well.

As of late people have been telling me what an asshole I am for saying things which are obviously not meant to be taken seriously. I've never really had this problem until the last few months, and frankly, it's getting fucking ridiculous.
I can understand a joke being misunderstood every once in a while, but I really think the internet is just making people SO PARANOID they take everything seriously to the extreme, because everyone is always out to get them and every keystroke ever on a keyboard is completely deliberate and literal. (Hint: There was sarcasm in there.) I would like to think I am not the only person who doesn't really take the internet seriously, as I have other things to do outside of sitting on the computer and being 100% focused on it as if my life depended on whatever happens inside a box screen on my desktop. Talking to people, listening to music, exchanging ideas... that's basically what I look for. However, talking to people even in a text message is different than talking to someone in a chat room on a computer apparently. Think about it. The responses to the same type of text cues are quite different. I recognize this. What baffles me is... why? Why it is that an individual cannot, in their mind, pass a sort of fiction from fact type judgement is beyond me.

For example, if I enter a chat room (and I know specifically where / what site this would be, but for generality I will use 'chat room') and say, "I hate you all," someone would probably be offended, call me an idiot, bigot, racist, etc. This could be true, however, they completely ignore the fact this is a very non sequitur statement and could simply dismiss it. Or, hell, they could even ask for clarification. Right? But, no, instead judgement is the best option when you have little or no facts on which to base even the most absurd assumption. And I'm an asshole for saying random, baseless things? I literally have said all of ~10 words in a chat before being verbally assaulted by someone who I did not know, on subjects they obviously knew nothing about regarding my personal life, and generalizing me in a manner I could only laugh at. If I'm an asshole for simply saying something irrelevant directed at no one but not for judging people and insulting them directly, then so be it.

Who would be interested in a browser-extension based site revamp for FA? This would completely change the layout into what the "FA v2.0" was imagined, to the best of my abilities.

This means all content, message centers, pages, etc, would all be reformatted and have a better flow and efficiency.

Right now I'm redesigning a catalog for a cookware company. The original design was pretty terrible. And by terrible I mean TERRIBLE. Most of the pages only used like 60% of the available space, none of the margins were consistent. None of the page layouts were consistent. The fonts are ding-dong, and the fucking boxes under the text were MAGENTA. ON A BLACK PAGE. FOR THE WHOLE FUCKING CATALOG. The images for the products were all cropped terribly and most were in an aspect ratio that lent to awkward positioning and layout to boot, on top of said products edge's being sliced off and whatnot by aforementioned cropping. The amount of completely mindlessly boring tedious work it takes to basically copy the pages and re-type all the text and re-create all the elements on every single page is utterly painful. Why? The original pages were laid out in ADOBE FUCKING ILLUSTRATOR. For a fucking CATALOG. And all of the text was raster from another program because Illustrator is not a layout program and therefore DOES NOT HAVE SUFFICIENT TEXT FORMATTING TOOLS. That's not even what I was hired on to do, but I'm doing it because I'm good with design and because I'm a stickler for detail. Yes, yes, this is my achilles heel. The client's happy, I'm not getting very many hours for doing this work, and so there you have it. Being a designer is something akin to giving yourself a migraine every day of the week, except Tuesday, when you show up to work so drunk Helvetica looks like Tempus Sans.

Also, by the end of it, I know more about professional cookware than I ever cared to learn about ever. Handy in case I decide to cack myself in the head with a lead pipe until I decide to became a restauranteer. Not that I rue the thought of owning a restaurant, I just simply have more lucrative fields in which I could easily pursue and plan to. I love food, I love cooking, I hate staring at pictures of bowls and fact sheets of bowls and typing fact sheets of bowls and placing pictures of bowls and resizing bowls and pasting images of bowls and... you get the idea. Bowldle me that.

I mean, fuck, even my job as a silhouette 'artist' was even more boring but I was somehow able to get through it by turning up my music loud enough to obscure my visual fields long enough to make the mindless task appear interesting while the Jack Daniel's kicked in and I started smelling burning tires in my pockets.
