Golly why don't you art anymore?
General | Posted 14 years agoFact of the matter is, I do still art! Quite frequently in fact!
Being as not a whole lot of stuff gets to a polished or pretty state, I just stick everything on tumblr. I'm also in my final semester at college, so my 3D work has been pushing into priority. If you want to see my everything, just follow me here: http://majortechcat.tumblr.com
For the Daily Doodle Draw project I've gotten myself in to, follow this link: http://majortechcat.tumblr.com/tagged/DDD
I art all the time, just not up here much. :D

What I'm all about
General | Posted 14 years agoIN SHORT:
I do:
Appreciate attention (like everyone)
Look without commenting
Fave and run (on DA only though)
Like suggestions, but am choosy about what I do
Love you people
Do art in exchange for goods and services, as well as cash
I don't:
Look at journals (pretty much ever)
Give thanks for follows or faves (it's clutter guys)
Keep in contact well
Say much unless it's asked for, in which case I'll tear things apart
Stream as much as I'd like to
Keep schedules well

Questions in regard to commissions
General | Posted 14 years agoDo you go out looking for commissions or do you see that an artist opens and that makes you want one?
Do commission pricing guide images help you make your decision?
Do goals for the artist influence your buying desire?
Have you ever commissioned work from an artist you haven't seen much work from? (good faith)
Does an artist's plight outweigh an artist's turnaround?
Do meme-based sets of images entice you more than regular images? Examples are themed icons/badges/images or style interpretations like the MLP-versions of characters.

Commission me, damnit
General | Posted 15 years agoOpen for Commissions.
I am again, in the hole. I am opening myself for a long term, as my only income. If you can't (or just don't want to) commission me, please refer me to someone else. I know my current audience well enough. <o<
If I were POPUFUR I'd offer up the Iron Artist stuff, but I'm not. Anything would be awesome.
Prices range depending on difficulty, usually determined after the sketch is done. Sketches by themselves can be five bucks. Contact me and I'll see what I can do. Also contact me if you want to kick me onto Livestream and get a better bearing on my drawing process, see if you like what I do.

Pokémon VGC 2010
General | Posted 15 years agoSo! Anyone else going to the 2010 tournament?
I'm going with a couple friends down in Texas. Omaha, Nebraska is kinda far away from EVERYTHING. It is the same weekend as FAU, so I'm -really- not expecting other furries there.
My team isn't completely formed yet, but I will be guilty of having a Metagross in my party. That seems to have been a huge choice last year, and this year of what quick Google searches I've done. Didn't know that until just a couple hours ago. Not a big meta-gamer normally. :3
Everything being used was bred 2-3 weeks ago. They were transferred between Diamond (for vitamins) and Platinum (move tutors) and all trained in SoulSilver.
My game name is Teca, ID#31129.

A debt to pay
General | Posted 16 years agoWell well well. Even people that don't have to pay for anything wind up in debts.
Some may know I was having computer trouble, it has been replaced, at a steal of a price since it's Vista as they were clearing stock to make room for 7. Even if it was an awesome deal, it cost money that pulled from my emergency funds as I have no income.
I am a full time student, everything related to that is paid for. I know there are much more needy people out there that -don't- have that covered, and they do deserve attention more than I.
tl;dr
I'm down US$700. It's not hyper critical, but I am out of my safe zone in terms of debt.
Classes start tomorrow on this schedule. I have several art classes, so if you want traditional, I could possibly work it in. The best way to work is through Ustream, so shoot me notes or e-mails on when you'd like me on to work for you.
Previous commission work:
$15
$28
$25
$30 (with this)
$1
I'm not a big fan of just sticking to standard prices, as characters and complexity all vary. I'm all for negotiating. The lowest is $1 and my high point is $30, $50 if there's a lot going on.

Contact information
General | Posted 16 years agoI am in a variety of places, so have a decent directory.
Social Sites
Twitter has two accounts.
Just Like Life For my everyday rantings and is fairly frequently updated.
TechCatLive For announcements relating to art streaming, which is over here:Ustream page
LiveStream has for the most part replaced Ustream.
LiveJournal has an old-ass account, but I update it occasionally.
a-t-c
Sleepless-light was intended to be a sketchdump journal, but it's pretty much dead.
FaceBook has two accounts.
Justina Leigh-Ann Lear Is the real me, and is just for real life relations. Sorry, I won't friend you, my family is a-watchin'. I don't actually check this thing anymore.
FormSpring, a Q&A sort of site. Feel free to ask anything, even anonymously.
There's several other sites where I've registered a profile, but I do not check them. They only serve as directories to the other ways to find me.
Art.
Obviously, there's art here. If it's furry it goes here, regardless of quality.
DeviantArt (old) is where other works go, it's one of my old accounts so it still bears my previous major name. Also, DA has a much wider area for resolutions, so if I make something big, it's over there instead of here. (As in the case of the AatR sheets.)
A newer account that bears my name is JLLear.
If you wish to give me money (payment for commission or donation), my paypal is j.l.lear(at)gmail.com.
Tumblr My 3D work is usually posted here as I work on it. Hopefully more sketches and stuff as time goes on.
Same case as the social sites if you spot other 'versions' of me, they're intended as directories and not much more.
Chat/Messaging.
I don't chat with random people much at all. Shoot me a note if you want to talk/make offers/etc.
If on Livestream, you see me pull up a chat window, it's probably XFire. That's just real life friends, but you can go laugh at my profile and comp specs here: XFire TechCat
On AIM (at the request of
AnimalOdyssey) as TechCatLive
Second Life I go under Teca Timeless.
Gaming
On Steam, it's just techcat. (Buy me things! 8D *shot*)
S4 League: TechCat
XBox Live: MajorTechCat
Pokémon White: 2923 8406 3864
Pokémon GL: TechCat (not sure how to link this, or anything)
Pretty much if it's got the name 'techcat' it's decently probable that it's me. If there's another, I extend it with MajorTechCat or MajorTeCa. Mmmyeah. That's it.

Commission suggestions?
General | Posted 17 years agoSo, since the commission portion of FA seems to be... out of commission *tomato'd then brick'd*
What examples of what I can do be shown as types of commission work. I was thinking of using my own character in each, just for the sake of consistency and that I'd be able to whip it up pretty good.
There'd be versions of digital and traditional done separately. If there's suggestions as to what types I should offer, please speak up! X3
In order of effort it takes~
Digital:
Pawn avatar
Pawn
Mug avatar
Mini
Mugshot
Badge
Upper body
Full body
Reference sheet
Traditional:
Mini
Mugshot
Badge
Upper body
Full body
Traditional works can be inked/colored digitally. Digital work is preferred for ease of working with clients over Ustream and lack of material cost. I do not have a nice printer nor a laminator, so I can't offer the better badges that are out there. Pricing will be determined by votes over Ustream when all the pieces are assembled.
Any questions arise from this? I want to make a very thorough commission page by the end of this. Gaps? Suggestions? Please speak up! :3

UStream TechCat Live!
General | Posted 17 years agohttp://www.ustream.tv/channel/techcat-live!
This is neat, but I don't have a good way of screenwatching for digital art. If you want to see some artings, just ask and I'll talk and art.
Commissions would still be awesome too.

HAY GUYS! WUTS GOIN ON IN THIS FANDOM?!
General | Posted 17 years agoDear world,
I wanna do commissions! Have paypal, working to get a tablet to replace what was broken a few years ago. Former experience in digital, warming up to watercolors and ink. Shipping will be extra charge, to cover it, dur.
Interested in trying new things (may shy away from... intense fetishes) but can't guarantee super-special-awesome every round. Character art in general is full of love~
While I am nowhere near the 'starving artist' necessity that seems to be plaguing this fandom, I'd love to art for a purpose. Maybe even trades to get my name out a bit more.
k thx,
J. Leigh-Ann Lear
