Two Worlds 2, just say "no" or an example of what NOT to do
Posted 11 years agoTwo worlds 2, don't buy it, though the graphics are pretty. It actually makes me think fondly of Two Worlds 1, they managed to damage an already bad game so much that the bad game looks good.
Bad controls. Bad interface. pretty much everything is just bad. It's one of many examples of how not to make a game. I won't go into details, there are reviews out there already.
I just tried it anyway after it came with a bundle. It pisses you off before you even get to the game menu if you can get it to run at all.

Posted 11 years agoA long time ago on a planet that is several hundred thousand miles away from where it was just last week, known as EEE Arth or something like that, Wolfire Games came up with the Humble Bundle. It served up pay what you want for a group of independent games. They were a pretty good batch and I bought it.
Later, they served up another batch, or Bundle. That sold fairly ok, too. Other companies liked the idea and copied them. Now there are several pay what you want bundles around and even a few "pay a small amount" bundles that have a fixed price. This journal is about all of these that I found.
Normally I don't buy a lot of games, but the game bundles have been a pretty good source of them and it's always fun to find a new bundle or even game and I've been randomly finding game bundles of late. Some better than others content wise but hey, they'll be good for somebody even if not to my taste.
Here's a list of what I have found without actively searching for them.

Trying to be more active this year
Posted 11 years ago2013 was a very inactive year for me. I didn't get much done and didn't do much of anything. As the subject says, this year I'm trying to be a bit more active.
You may have noticed I've been posting pretty much every day. I'm back to writing at least one story page a day, which is very helpful for getting commissions done and eventually I plan to try to get back to drawing more.

Well, I ordered disks 4-9, but those are missing a few episodes of season 4. I need Gummi Bears disk 3.
Anybody have Disk 3 already or willing to buy it for me(I can supply the money if needed). I just need an ISO of it, I don't need the physical disk? I'd just order it myself, but I don't want to pay more shipping.
I have 6 http://www.DisneyMovieRewards.com.au points cards that came with the 6 discs I already bought. I'm not sure how much they give in disney points or how many points are required to do anything. I can't use them since I don't live in NZ or AU.

Trying out a public paintchat if you'd like to wander in and draw or even hang out. Please don't be rude to people. Try not to erase their art without asking if they are finished. Straight porn, Gay porn, neutered porn, cub porn, granny porn, pokemon, pony, human, clean, transgender fruit, and even political porn is welcome. Really, draw whatever you damn well please.
Rules and suggestions -
Don't be an asshole
I strongly suggest Normal Entrance. Pro Entrance tools just suck and lack a few handy tools.
Do not add or delete layers(this may not be possible anyway, I forget if I disabled that)
Do not drag the copy box past the bottom of the canvas, this creates problems when copying your picture
To combine a picture on multiple layers, select the layer you want the picture on, then use the Combine tool to draw a box around the picture, then let go.
Right Click before letting up most lines to cancel that line.
Right click on the canvas to select a color on it. Right click again on the pallete boxes to put that color into the box.
If you try to move the screen with the vertical or horizontal scroll bar and it does not move, right click before you let go of the left mouse button or let up with your tablet pen.
To save a picture you drew, press print screen and paste the screenshot into the image editor of your choice.
You can zoom in or out with the + or - on the horizontal scroll bar.
If you want pressure for your tablet, download Jtablet 0.9.5 from http://jtablet.cellosoft.com/, close browser, install jtablet, restart browser, click the P at the top of the vertical scroll bar.
You MUST have java runtime environment installed to enter.

Furry Dental Fund, a charity idea. Thoughts?
Posted 13 years agoSo, several furry friends have very bad teeth and can't afford extractions or whatever would be needed to save them from what is basically a life as a torture victim. Based on this, I had the idea to start a Furry Dental Fund charity where people can donate money for emergency dental surgery for those who are in dire straights. Broken teeth, infections, or other absolutely agonizing tooth problems. Those who receive the money could draw a general thank you picture or write some sort of general thank you story to "pay" for the money. It wouldn't be required, but it would be nice gift for having the suffering end. I have no idea how well it would be received though.

Ah, aging. Moving on from 30 to 31. ALSO Commission prices
Posted 14 years agoWell, it's that time again. About 2 weeks, June 6, until my birthday and I be going from 30 to 31. Those damn numbers just keep going up but I'm still surviving them. I'm now an old man by pre 1800s standards :)
As of June 6 I pop my 30 up to the next higher integer. Age 25 was a good age to be. I could say I was 1/40th of a millenia old. I have to wait until I'm 40 before I can use that line again... of course then it'll be 1/25th of a millenia!
I'm writing a lot more than I used to. Drawing a bit less though. I really need to get back to drawing again.
As to Commissions.
This coming July, my commission price per page will be increasing to $4.50 a page It's not a big jump, but it is a jump and I am warning you all early. Still well below minimum wage but I don't want to really ramp prices up yet. I'm not fast enough for high prices and I like people to be able to afford a bit more.

*I am usually willing to give up to a full page extra if required for the end. I reserve the right to do more but that is purely my choice and is NOT a promised addition.

New commission service idea, Story Editing.

I doubt anybody will use it, but I'll offer it anyway. Currently, I do not have a price range in mind.
Story Editing is actually more work than writing a story sometimes, while other times it is quite easy. I suppose it depends on how much work needs to be done on the story.
Editing would include...
Grammar correction
Tense usage
Flow, ease of reading
Sentence structure(basically a part of Flow)
And whatever else needs to be adjusted to make the story the best it can be.
If you are interested in having a story editing, contact me and we can talk about it.

A Bi Weekly Furry Story Anthology?
Posted 15 years agoWould anybody be interested in subscribing(paying) for a bi weekly story collection? 7 to 14 short furry/anthro stories every two weeks, less would probably have a little longer ones. Each story would describe a picture similar to the examples. I call them picture description stories... so creative. They would be at least a page long, usually longer.

While it would be a variety of content, if it gets set up a bit more with more pictures to choose from, I could let subscribers vote for the pictures that would be written for each issue. One of the least popular would show up too now and again, just to be fair.
Pricing... I don't know yet. I was thinking for the initial run, it could be as low as a quarter, or 25 cents, whichever comes first. The quarter price would just be to see how things go, rather like a standard magazine really low price subscription for the first issue.
I don't want to use paypal for this, though for the first issue, I wouldn't mind it. It's too dangerous when more than one person at a time. Paypal will steal your money and cancel your account if they find you selling adult material. I don't know of any other payment processor for such things though. Preferably based in the US so they have to follow US law but if they are good(and easy to join and work with) I'd be happy to hear about them. Alert Pay gets mixed reviews with "great" to "Scam that requires you to send them stuff!"
Let me know what you think about the whole thing.

Posted 15 years agotwenty days until I'm 30. June 6 comes fast anymore :} Seems like only a year ago I was turning 29.
I feel old, though I know I'm not really. Old enough though and not getting younger.

March 24, 2000-Tannim the dragon was first drawn. 10 years!
Posted 15 years agoAnd a decade later he's still around, though with a few modest differences here and there.
A friend drew him for me back in 2000 and though he disappeared, I still have the original picture of tannim jerking in front of his computer :)
That tannim had hair, something I've been too lazy to draw on him. He looks similar to then these days, if you don't count the really long scrotum. I'm still happy with the character and though I have other characters, he still represents me in most of my online dealings.

That tannim had hair, something I've been too lazy to draw on him. He looks similar to then these days, if you don't count the really long scrotum. I'm still happy with the character and though I have other characters, he still represents me in most of my online dealings.

Comment encouragement for a better FA
Posted 16 years agoThere's a lot of bad comments and "no comment" comments around these days. Let's try to encourage good ones.
Somebody goes "First!" or some other variation of that stupidity, comment back something like "Great, anything to say about the picture?
Somebody may put a lot of hearts or smiles... say it to them too. "thanks, now do you have a comment?"
Somebody says "great!" well, good for them and all but... "Hey, thanks. Anything to say about the picture?"
You'll notice how similar they are, well, if enough people do it maybe we can drown out the bad comments or no-comment comments and get people to actually say something : )

New Policy from me - Good Comments worth 1/40th of a sketch!

Now, I don't know if anybody is interested in it, and I don't really care if you're not because I'm going to say this stuff anyway.
Comments.
Starting now, I will be rewarding good comments. If you leave a good comment you get a credit. 40 Credits, you get a free sketch of your character or A character. I may lower the requirement, I may even raise it eventually. Sort of like the value of money, fluxuating with market conditions. A lot of people(yeah right) commenting and getting sketches, probably will have to raise it until I catch up. No comments at all, I dunno, I may lower it. How much is a comment worth right now? 1/40th of a sketch!
"Sketch" as meant in this situation, is a quickly drawn picture that is not inked or colored. It is a rough quick picture that gets the point across. Depending on idea requested and skill of artist, some sketches will look better than others.
Tracking comments. You will keep track of your comments. I'm lazy and have less important things to do. When you make a comment, copy the link to the submission you commented on and paste it into a text file next to a number One through forty. Copy the comment itself and paste it into the text file under the submission.
Cashing in when you have Forty. Email it to me, or send me a note with it pasted in. When I get it and review it, I'll let you know to send me the requested sketch idea.
A "Good comment" is just that. A comment that has some thought put in it. It mentions the picture. It says what you like about it with a little detail, if anything. Not required but always welcome... A really good comment points out anatomy or whatever you think is wrong and suggests a way to fix it. If you can't think of a way to fix it, just point it out in a non-hostile way. You are free to point out dislike of penis/foot/hand/whatever style, dislike of certain looks of something is acceptable to mention, though it adds nothing to a comment. I know we can't help but let others know our tastes so I don't take off for that.
Not-good comments are not bad, they are just not counted as good and do not go towards the 40 comment credits. They do not take away anything from your current credits. Not-good comments are comments that have little,or usually, NO, thought put into them. Generally they are simple one line quips, irrelevant quotes, random in character sounds, saying it's a nice picture without anything really about the picture being involved, or even saying "I like it" with no details about what is liked.
Examples of Not-Good comments are at the bottom.
Negative/hostile comments WILL take away four credits each. I have never seen one, but I know they exist. Negative comments are those designed to hurt the artist/author in any way.
Trolling. Trolling anybody destroys all credits you have, period. I'm fair, you can give me your side if you are bored, but it won't do anything except in awe inspiringly rare circumstances.
Copy/Pasting comments is not allowed. That is cheating unless the pictures are indentical in which case the comment will only count one time. Each comment must be unique to the picture. I understand many phrases will fit many pictures, but duplication is not allowed. Cheating will cost 1 credit the first time, 4 credits the second, all of them the third. You may appeal and I'll give the comment a look over, but I don't like having my time wasted by other people when I'm fully capable of wasting it myself.
Journals do not count towards comment requirements. So many journals are stupid MEMES and other random garbage I cannot count them.
For now
I am going to try something special. This policy is in place and comments you make to other artists will count for the first 20. This may not always be the case, but it will be for now. You must compile a list of those comments using the method mentioned above and send them to me in a note or email with the comments you made on my submissions. Comments made in the past, I'm sorry to say, I cannot count. New comments made on old submissions are accepted.
I reserve the right to not accept comments for other artists later, Especially if swamped, but for now I will accept them.
I'd love to have other artists adopt similar policies as this but I won't ask anybody else to do it. I'm not sure how it will turn out as it is. Turning comments into something like money seemed like a good idea at the time. Well, that's what I'll probably end up saying, but hey, "At the time" is right now, so ROCK ON and Get Yourself Off our lazy asses and lets comment!
I welcome discussion and ideas in relation to this system. Especially improvements and apropriate comment to sketch value.
This is designed to improve the very poor comment rate around Fur Affinity by encouraging and rewarding commenting.
