Case of the Missing Hard Drive
Posted 12 years agoSo whenever I boot up my PC for the first time each day, I notice slower boot-up time and a BSOD shortly afterwards. I reboot, then lo and behold, it fails to detect the HD. It knows there's a device hooked up, but couldn't seem to detect the device itself. I thought it was dying, so I purchased a new one.
At first, it was alright, until the errors popped again. Now the only work-around I know of is to wait for the HD to 'warm' up. It's probably more literal than I realize.
Any advice?

Hellooooooooooooooo
Posted 13 years agoAnd yet it happens again, this time I've been gone for two months. Suffering one last hard drive fiasco before losing before losing the said HD; everything in it; and the will to go on. Weeks later, I've finally managed to get a new one, after diverting every peso I have.
All that was left, was to reinstall everything, or at least those I had a backup copy of. OS, software, drivers, updates, some games, and all the porn I have since high school... I'm still wondering if I can still salvage this faulty hard drive.

Life Expectancy Reassessment
Posted 13 years ago17th of December, year 2011. What seemed to be a typical rainy night turned out to be disaster Cagayan de Oro City never saw coming. Day breaks and the extent of the damage has gone full circle. Things you thought you'd only see on TV, wrong. Damaged power lines, effectively cutting all power in many areas for a week; ruptured water pipes, greatly reducing our water supply for almost a month; wrecked homes, displaced families, and a horrific number of casualties. Our neighborhood as well as others, wasn't spared, considering we were suppose to be living on 'elevated areas'. 3-ft deep muddy water managed to find its way to us. We all ended up shoveling mud and salvaging things for almost 3 days. People living in the lower areas had the worst of it. Ever since, you could hear requiems all over the city. I guess I could safely assume that Northern Mindanao is somewhat less crowded these days. With over a thousand dead, and a thousand still missing. The recent flash flood was a real wake-up slap to its citizens.
The dead will be remembered, and the living will never forget.

"REGISTRY_ERROR"
I tried booting from a last known good configuration...
BSOD
I tried booting safe mode...
BSOD
I tried the XP CD-ROM's Recovery Console...
BSOD
Screw that, I'm going for for a fresh install...
BSOD
As such, I have no way whatsoever of booting into Windows. Isn't that just dandy?
As of the moment, I'm using my cousin's computer. It's not much (don't tell her that), but it's a computer nonetheless.

Resurgence
Posted 14 years agoSo here I am, back more or less. Still not feeling well though. This has to be the slowest flu recovery the medical world has witnessed, or maybe not. And the weather here isn't doing me any favors.
But I digress, It's been too long and I must make up for lost time.
To my commissioners, it seems I have a lot to answer for, and it wasn't my intention to be gone for so long. Regardless, I'll be resuming on COM works after my absence, one artwork at a time.
At any rate, have a nice day/evening.

Posted 14 years agoMy PC is somewhat functional a day after the 'NTLDR missing' error. It seemed I was booting from the wrong disk, silly me. Now, I get occasional stop errors, sweet.
NTLDR is missing.
Posted 14 years agoAfter an intense gaming session with my trusted PC, and a bit of tinkering with its BIOS, this is the error I get. As of the moment, I am using my cousin's rig and working on a fix with a USB flash drive. Funny that my first journal entry is about a PC error. Anyways, wish me luck.
