NEW Story!
Posted 9 years agoAfter a long hiatus where my Muse and I were out of touch with one another, I reconnected and finally put something down in text. It's a huge weight off my shoulders to have this story done BTW. I have been stymied by how to approach the telling of it, but it suddenly came to me and I'm very pleased with the results.
So TLDR here's "Keeping Promises" a ladder commission to raise money for Canine Cancer Research won by

The rumor of gift commissions were grossly over-rated
Posted 9 years agoHippo Birdie to Me!
A couple days ago, I eluded to catching wind that there were a couple gift commissions coming my way from a few friends for my whelpday...today.
Well, it seems the joke is on me and the leaks about the gifts for my special day were done on purpose to trick the tricksy lil foxie.
Well look at me with egg on my muzzle. *chuckles* Well played my wuffie friends. Well played.
So I wanted to apologize to everyone else who were hoping to see some new Swifty art after my post on Friday.
Thanks to everyone who wished me a Happy Whelpday so far, and to those who bestow their best wishes today.

Posted 9 years agoAnd I can't wait!
I've heard rumblings that there may be a couple surprise commissions brewing for my special day. I think a couple folks let that slip just to tease me. Now I'm curious as heck and can't wait to see.
So keep watch on your favorite "Little" artists for some cute lil Swifty artz over the next few days.
I'll try to post them here also, with links to the artists,...just in case you're not following one of them.
*vibrates with anticipation*

Need to find another Patreon artist to sponsor
Posted 9 years agoSadly, I had to leave a Patreon artist because they felt obligated to do a commission for me.
Out or respect, I'm not going to provide any names.
I don't pay much a month...a few dollars for the privilege of getting a peak at other art they do that they don't typically post elsewhere. It's been a great relationship thus far, but I don't want there to be any obligations on either of our parts.
I respectfully declined an annual commission after they noticed that I had paid for a couple commissions earlier this year. That started a bit of a poop storm and emotional roller coaster that I wasn't prepared for and didn't want. So I thanked them and regrettably pulled the plug on my sponsorship as the relationship was no longer positive or healthy.
So I'm okay for $3 a month, maybe $4, but I want no obligations attached. I don't need a sketch a month, a quarter or a single commission each year. Most of all, if I decline, I don't want a poop storm of drama, or to be called names for my choices.
Thanks for your time. This has all be a bit overwhelming and disheartening. I will be more selective and upfront with the next artist I choose to sponsor,

[Anthrocon] 2016 Table-Top Gaming Track looking 4 Game Hosts
Posted 9 years agoHello Folks!
I'm making another shout out for furs who are attending Anthrocon this year and may be interested in hosting a role-playing, collectable card, board game or LARP as part of the Table-Top Gaming Track.
I have plenty of space on my schedule if you have a particular game that you'd like to share with friends or offer to demo for new players. It's a great way to meet new people and make new friends.
Respond back to this message, send me a PM or e-mail tabletop.gaming@gmail.com. Please include your e-mail and I'll send you the short gaming event form so we can get it published in the schedule.
My deadline for the printed schedule is April 12, 2016.

The little foxie kit inside of me that is...
The best thing to do when it comes to fear is to face them and embrace them.
So I'd like to get a commission of lil Swifty, in a Junior Ranger Scout uniform, still wearing the wire muzzle his scout "friends" just strapped over his muzzle, sitting against the wall and crying at being deceived and betrayed.
I mean, come on, Swifty's a fox. He deserves it...right?
Disney-like style a plus but not required.

I've been banned from "Dire Straights!?" What did I do?
Posted 9 years agoThings have been busy, especially from September on through the holidays I've had to put my RP on Twitter Ponies on hold as well as playing my MMO's because of RL things.
I just popped on "Dire Straights" the new home of the Blackblood Alliance Role Playing forums, after being away from that since last August only to find that my IP and accounts have been perma-banned. They accusations are that I was contributing to the delinquency of a minor or something like that.
It's a role playing forum and believe me I know there are kids under 18 there and I make a conscious point not to enter into RP relationships with ANYONE. Last time I was there was to check to see if there had been any activity on my character RP's...and there were none.
I have/had four active accounts on the forum and they're all blocked with the same message, which is why I think they've blocked my IP.
I have a feeling that politics and some mod/admin personal grudges are involved. Such is life, but it kinda irks me a little at the same time, especially what they've said I did, because I know it's a lie or a complete misinterpretation. Either that or someone hacked my account while I was away and created a problem.
Either way, there's no recourse. No "mail an admin." I also know that in their TOS, any active forum member who knowingly acts as a third party agent for someone who's been banned is itself a bannable offense.
*sighs*
I really liked role playing Swift there. I was hoping it might help get me out of my writing slump.
Another chapter in my life closed I guess.
Just venting. Thanks for reading.

Want to commission a Male Pin-up for V-Day (Closed)
Posted 9 years agoHello and thank you for clicking the link to this journal.
I'd like to commission an artist to draw my fox fursona as an adult, male pin-up, in a suggestive pose to give to my wife for Valentine's Day. (Reference http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1644892)
What is see in my head is an anthro Swift, sitting on the corner of a bed naked, nipples perky giving away his own arousal, but teasing the viewer by covering his naughty bits up with his tail. He is giving a seductive and inviting look and smile at the viewer while offering a glass of blush wine held in his outstretched right paw. The left paw holds a matching glass of wine for himself. The bed is sprinkled with rose petals and room is softly lit, with a few candles burning in the background for ambiance.
My wife,
silaria, likes suggestive pictures that leave some "things" to the imagination. I'm hoping this scene that I see in my head and tried to convey, captures that.
If you're available for commission and think this is something you'd like to draw, please PM me with pricing and a few links to some finished works of this nature.
Thank you for your time.

Posted 10 years ago[UPDATE] First Night Pittsburgh Parade and Furry Frolic
Posted 10 years agoHello First Night Pittsburgh Frolickers!
I thank you all for your interest and enthusiasm for this fun filled event.
I want to touch base and remind everyone that the First Night Pittsburgh Parade and Furry Frolic is Thursday, December 31st at 6pm at the Westin Convention Center Hotel, downtown Pittsburgh.
This year we will be sixty strong by my last count which has prompted me to contact the Westin Convention Center Hotel and negotiate a larger room to accommodate 60 attendees and provide a green room for over 30 fursuiters! This year we will be in the Cambria Room, on the second floor, through the doors and down the hallway on the left, instead of the Crawford Room on the third floor. http://assets.westinpittsburgh.com/.....Plans_1370.pdf
Given the large turn-out for this event Thursday night, Silaria and I estimate that we can lower the donation to cover the function space at the Westin to $10 per person, collected at the door.
We plan to have a hot water urn in the room along with instant cocoa, instant coffee and hot tea, as well as some cookies to share. There will also be water buffalos of ice water provided by the hotel also.
We recommend parking at the Grant Street Parking Garage ($5). The Red Garage is accessed off of Penn Avenue and the Blue Garage is accessed off of 12th Street between Liberty Ave & Penn Ave. Next least expensive parking is at the Convention Center garage ($12 Event Rate).
If you need a hotel room, I looked at the hotels nearby (Hampton Inn, Omni-Wm Penn, Westin and Doubletree) and the Westin and the Doubletree have the cheapest comparable rates for a standard, double occupancy room.
First Night Pittsburgh 2015 Schedule: http://firstnightpgh.trustarts.org/events
First Night Furry Frolic Schedule:
6:00pm: Cambria Room will be open for guests. Please see Silaria as soon as you arrive as she will have the RSVP list and will be collecting the $10 donation.
6:45pm: Hand out First Night Buttons.
7:15pm: Group Photo in the open space outside the Butler Room.
7:30pm: Head over as a group to the Parade Line-up under the Convention Center. (We are 34th, after the Mt Lebanon VFD.)
8:00pm: FedEx First Night Parade steps off. (Parade Route is down Penn Ave to 6th Street, Right on 6th Street to Ft Duquesne Blvd.)
9:00pm to 1:00am: You are welcome and encouraged to enjoy the First Night Pittsburgh 2015 crowds, activities and venues. The Cambria Room in the Westin will be open as a warm-up/cool-down/hang-out space.
Midnight: First Night Fireworks. HAPPY NEW YEAR!
1:00am: Cambria Room closed.
How else can you help?
Wear a favorite art/name badge so others and I know who you are.
If you’re not wearing a fursuit or costume in the parade, please consider helping out as a fursuit handler/wrangler.
If you have an electric floor fan and can bring it along to set up in the fursuit lounge, please bring it and thank you.
If you have a card or board game that you want to bring along, like CAH, Apples to Apples, Chez Geek, Munchkin, Ticket to Ride, Settlers of Cataan, etc, I’m sure there will be plenty of folks that can be encouraged to play; please feel free to bring it along.
Because of the Function Space Contract, I cannot allow open bottles/cans of alcohol in the room. If you bring a drink up from the restaurant downstairs, that’s fine. If you are going to drink alcohol, please do so responsibly.
Most of all come and have fun. The weather is expected to be a touch warmer this year than it has the past two years, so please dress appropriately and in layers.
If you have any questions, or have not yet RSVPe'd by email, please feel free to e-mail me at swiftfoxavfd(at)gmail.com

First Night Pittsburgh Parade and Furry Frolic! 12/31/2015
Posted 10 years agoWhat: First Night Pittsburgh Parade & Furry Frolic
Where: Westin Convention Center Hotel, 3rd Floor, Crawford Room, Downtown Pittsburgh, PA
When: December 31, 2015 from 6pm until 2am, Rain or Shine
Website: First Night Pittsburgh http://www.firstnightpgh.org/
Well the event has been met with a lot of popularity over the last two years, both from the furs who attended and the residents of Pittsburgh who line the streets of the parade. So it will be a go again this year so please put it on your calendar and consider joining the fun and frivolity of this unique cultural event!
UPDATE!
I have entered into the contract with the Westin to secure the Crawford Room as hang-out/warm up space and as a green room for the fursuiters. (The room can be partitioned in half.)
I also secured a six (6) room Hotel Room Block, based on the number of rooms reserved last year, plus a few for growth. This room rate for a single King or two Double beds, single or double occupancy is $159.00 + Taxes. There will be an additional $20 (+taxes) charged for each additional person. These should be in the system and available after 5pm on November 24th, 2015. Call 412-281-3700 to Reserve and tell them the Group Name is "First Night Pittsburgh Parade and Festivities." Room block is good until December 4th, though I have asked for an extension.
The event is "RAIN or SHINE." In the event it's pouring down rain, we of course will not be taking our expensive suits out to march in the rain. I'm hoping it will be a beautiful cool night, but just in case we'll be sure to have stuff planned for indoor fun as we pretty much have the entire 3rd Floor to ourselves. (Just don't break anything.)
For more information see the Event Calendar listing: http://www.pa-furry.org/node/10460/.....d-furry-frolic
The cost of this space last year was $300 + $81 in taxes. I'm not sure what the charge will be this year, however I hope we'll have a bigger turn out this year than we did last year. So to help defray the cost of the space, my wife and I will be asking for folks to chip in $15, collected that evening. We're flexible though. Last year we worked with a few folks to defray costs by bringing food and stuff. We can't do that for everyone, but we'll review it on a case by case basis.
So please RSVP by e-mail to swiftfoxavfd[at]gmail.com with "First Night Parade" in the subject. I need to give the Parade Coordinators a head count by December 20th so they'll have First Night pins for us. However, don't let that stop you from coming. Not everyone attending will take advantage of the pin and enjoy the activities of First Night. Plus, the pins are readily available at the First Night tents for a $10 donation to the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust.
Thanks! We're excited to see you there on New Year's Eve.
PLEASE SHARE AND SPREAD THE WORD. Thank you.

[EVENT] Wampum [PA] Holiday Parade! 12/5/15 @ 11:30am
Posted 10 years agoWhat: Wampum (PA) Christmas Parade
Where: Meet at the Old School Gymnasium, Main St. Extension, Wampum, PA 16157 (Across the street from 355 Main Street.) I suggest you enter Wampum on Clyde St. There is limited unpaved parking on site.
When: Saturday, December 5, 2015 @ 11:30am. Line up is at 12:30pm. If you want parking, be there between 11 and 11:30am.
Parade line up is on the sidewalk along Wampum-New Castle Road. Parade "Step off" is at ~1pm and the parade coordinators will help us get into our place in the line of march.
The parade is about a mile long walk around the town of Wampum and begins and ends at the same spot. Of course we can use as many Fursuiters as can make it, but more importantly, we need a few people out of costume to act as handlers/photographers.
After the parade we take a breather, then go out and entertain the kids while they wait in line to see Santa Claus. Then a few of us normally get together and head out for an early supper somewhere nearby.
We've been participating in this parade for over 5 years now and they are so happy to have us as part of their event. Please check your calendars and RSVP here or to blueshepp(AT)gmail.com so we can get a good head count and know to look for you on Saturday.
Thanks for your support!

FA Folders!
Posted 10 years agoI have embraced the folder system and am thanking doG that I am not as prolific a FA poster than I thought I was.
It would be nice however, if there was an option to remove a submission from a folder. I got started with assigning submissions to folders, then realized that I needed to break down submissions into sub-categories.
Anyway, I hope re-organizing makes it easier to poke around my FA Gallery and find things that you want to look at here.

Anthrocon 2015 Astronofurs Star Parties
Posted 10 years agoHello friends!
I wanted to take a moment to pimp out a couple panels I'm hosting at Anthrocon this year. Both Friday and Saturday evenings I'll be setting up my 5" Mak-Cassigrain telescope and 40mm Solar Telescope starting at 7pm and running to about Midnight on the North Terrace of the DLCC. The Star Party will begin at 7pmwith observations our nearest star Sol through the lens of a 40mm Solar Telescope where we'll look for sun spots and prominences along the edge of the solar disk.
Once the sun sets, the session will turn to the night sky where Jupiter and Venus blaze away in the West and lovely Saturn appears about half way up the celestial sphere in the South, within the constellation Scorpio. As conditions improve, there are also some bright star clusters and double stars which we may also view.
If you are local and have a telescope that you'd like to pack along and set up, or you have questions about how to use it, feel free to join me on the roof of the DLCC either night.
The panel is Clear Sky dependent of course, but if conditions aren't favorable on Friday and Saturday nights at 9pm we will have an impromptu panel on the second floor, across the sky bridge, just beyond the glass elevator to look over the equipment, talk about telescopes and general astronomy for an hour or so.
Thanks for reading and I hope you'll join me under the night sky for some Urban Astronomy.

So long Doug.
Posted 10 years agoI received word over Twitter that Doug Winger lost his fight with COPD this morning. Doug was a fixture in the fandom, especially in the fandom's infancy, and one of the core group that launched what we have today.

We met once, briefly, at Anthrocon one year in the late 90's I think it was. I was new to the fandom then and not in his circles, but I did comment on his work and he looked through my sketchbook and gave me the same advice that many artists have, "Keep at it. You'll get better."
It's sad to realize that Doug has left us so early in life...but it was his choice to smoke and eventually that comes back to haunt us.
Rest and be at peace Doug.

[Anthrocon] Table-top Gaming Track - OPEN CALL!
Posted 10 years agoHello everyone!
Last year we had an outstanding line up of games of all types to help make your experience at Anthrocon one to remember. Now we're looking to make that happen again and this is your chance to get involved!
Anthrocon's Table-top Gaming Track is looking for attendees who are interested in hosting a table-top role playing game, collectible card game (CCG) demos, pick up games, or tournaments, non-casino card games, board games, miniatures games, party games, and/or live action role playing (LARP) games. This year's convention theme is "The Viking Invasion."
Typically, depending on the game, sessions run from 1-4 hours, though longer sessions are and can be accommodated. I also make every effort to not schedule folks during 2 Gryphon and Kage's Story Hour, as well as the Fursuit Parade, once I have firm day and times for those events.
I have already received a game events already from returning game hosts and a few requests from some new folks...But there's still a lot of room left for more. The gaming room has six round tables available for table-top CCG's, Board Games, Party Games and Non-Casino Card Games. I also have six rectangular tables available for CCG and Miniatures Games. Plus I keep a few of each type available for "Open Gaming" to allow anyone to come in, play games they brought with friends or use the small collection of games the track has on hand.
If you are interested in sharing your talents with friends and attendees at Anthrocon please e-mail me at tbltop.gaming AT gmail.com. My deadline to get panels in is Sunday, April 26, 2015!
Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you.
