Swift’s MFF Schedule
Posted 18 years agoWell gang, it would seem that MidWest Furfest is only a week and a half away and they've got a .pdf up on their site laying out the programming for the weekend. True to form, this young fox and his unicorn will be offering sessions of Looney Lab's Game Demos and views of the stars over Schaumberg, IL through his 100mm refractor. We hope you'll have time to join us!
So, here's my schedule for MFF 2007:
Thursday:
9-10pm – Arrive MFF! :)
Friday:
1-3pm - Looney Lab’s Game Demos; Bob Atcher Room
7-8pm - FVS Show Pre-Meet; Ballroom A-B-C
9-10pm - Astronofurs Star Party #1; North Parking Lot, Outside Ballroom G.
10-1am - FVS Rehearsal and Furry Variety Show
Saturday:
10-Noon - Looney Lab’s Game Demos; Bob Atcher Room
1:30-3:30pm - Fursuit Parade & Photo Shoot
7-8pm - Fursuit Dance (?)
9-10pm - Astronofurs Star Party #2; North Parking Lot, Outside Ballroom G
12-1am - Looney Lab’s “Are you a WereWolf?;” Bob Atcher Room
Sunday:
9-10am – Pawpet Improv Workshop (?)
2-4pm – Pawpet Idol
6pm – Leave MFF. :(
(?) Denotes events that are questionable depending on need for sleep or other social activities.
After AC and the sick feeling I got when Ashe’s foot paw was damaged, I’m going to skip the Fursuit Games from here on out.
So, if you’re looking for the foxie, or looking to hook up for Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner, that’s likely the events and programming I’ll be frequenting. MFF isn’t as much of a “Working Con” as say AC, Morphicon or the WPAFW, but if I don’t run a panel or get involved in the Variety Show…well Fur Cons grow a little stale. As it is, there are times at MFF when I feel lost and confused because I’m *not* doing *something.* (aka, I don’t know how to relax.)
Oh, and Ashes wants me to remind his friends who supported him during the Fursuit Tourney that he has spotty dog hugs for anyone who comes up and tells him, "Hey Ashes! I voted for you!"
*Hugs*
Looking forward to seeing friends old and new and hanging with “my ‘dysfunctional’ furry family!” j/k LOL

Surprise RP Artz!
Posted 18 years ago
foxchild and I were RP'ing on IM this morning and this is what ensued...swiftf0x: I'm wondering why I'm even at work. I'm not getting anything done. :)
foxchild: heehee, you're at work to... um.... keep me entertained!
swiftf0x: Stands on his head and the hem of his dress falls away to reveal a thickly padded bottom.
swiftf0x: The dress covers his head. "Hey! Where'd ya go!?"
foxchild: *giggles and pets the diaper* "I didn' go anywhere!"
swiftf0x: "Meeps!" The little fox topples over onto his side.
So from that, came the inspiration to draw this, by paw, on his tablet, using GIMP...
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/822100/
*blushes*
Thanks foxie bro! It's very nice, though Mamma is gunna lecture me on how pink is a bad color for me as it clashes with my fur.
Personally, I like how loose and fun this style of his appears. While his finished work is excellent, this light-hearted style still conveys his unique hand in art, while expressing to the viewer, "Hey, this was a lot of fun to draw."

[EVENT] Western PA Furry Weekend 2007 is this weekend!!
Posted 18 years agoNo plans for this weekend? Looking for something to do?
Well then look no further!
The Western Pennsylvania Furry Weekend is this Friday, Saturday and Sunday, October 5, 6 & 7th, in Pittsburgh, PA, featuring the talents of Brendan Roo, this year’s Featured Artist!
The event kicks off Friday night at 7pm and continues into the wee hours of the morning so there’ll be things to do no matter how late you arrive. There’ll be table top games, movies, a fursuit photo shoot and plenty of room to just relax, socialize and meet with friends old and new. We’ll also have hot hors d’oeuvres, snacks and drinks while supplies last.
Enjoy the hotel’s complimentary breakfast fare as we spin some classic Saturday morning cartoons, or stop on in for our line of panels on puppetry, writing and/or ear & tail construction. The fun continues as we take the event to a park setting for the Fur-b-que. Additional panels in art, spirituality and HAM radio, along with volleyball, giant pyramid and laser tag games take place in this venue. Don’t miss one of the fandom’s best array of art, sculpture, talent and more at our Charity Raffle! Did I mention the picnic style dinner??
But things don’t stop there! Saturday night features DDR and Guitar Hero back at the hotel. Stop in and find out…“Are you a WereWolf?”…or get in on some other games being offered. Or simply relax and let the fun and fellowship of the day wash over you as you enjoy a bit of dessert at the Growl and Graze. Then, at midnight, we host our first ever Midnight Menagerie variety show, certain to be one of the highlights of the weekend.
Sound like a great weekend? You bet it will be! With under a hundred attendees it’ll offer a great chance to interact with other furs in a friendly and intimate environment.
You can help make it happen by taking the time to join us. What we ask from you is a registration of $25 at the door.
Want more information? Please visit our website at http://www.wpafw.org where you’ll find our programming grid, hotel information, event forums, teaser pictures of our Charity Raffle items, and much more!
The Western Pennsylvania Furry Weekend, October 5-7, 2007, now in its seventh year, hopes you’ll make time to join us for a weekend of fun and fellowship in the autumn clad hills of the Allegheny River valley outside of Pittsburgh, PA.

Kattywampus is to blame for this...Q: Where will you be?
A: When I'm not at ConOps, and not hosting Looney Lab's Demos, and not up on the roof with a telescope hosting a Star Party, and not in the Masquarade, or in the Fursuit Parade, or participating in the Fursuit Games...
...Then I'm frickin' resting! Leave me alone! :)
Q: Can I challenge you in super smash brother melee?
A: Sure you can. I can mash buttons as well as the next yutz!
Q: In the art show?
A: Art? Me? Ha,ha,ha! You're silly.
Q: How will I spot you?
A: Look for the spots and fire gear! :)
Q: Where are you staying?
A: At home.
Q: Who will you be with?
A: Most likely. No one. I travel light and quick. An entourage just slows me down.
Q: Do you do free art?
A: Sure I do free art! Wanna draw for meez?
Q: Do you do trades?
A: Depends on what is is you want to trade.
Q: Do you do commissions?
A: Oh! No...I don't have the patience to draw well.
Q: Do you have prints/CDs?
A: Nope.
Q: Do you do badges?
A: Nope again.
Q: What is your gender?
A: I'm male
Q: How old are you?
A: 30-something!
Q: Are you taken?
A: Yep. Been married for 10 years now thanks. :)
Q: Can I touch you?
A: Depends what we're talking about touching. A warm hug? I can be up for that, just ask first if I don't know ya.
Q: Can I talk to you?
A: You can talk to me all you want. Whether you'll get an answer or not will depend on whether you catch me in suit or not.

Western PA Furry Weekend June Newsletter!
Posted 18 years agoHello friends!
It's June and there are just four more months left until the Western Pennsylvania Furry Weekend, www.wpafw.org, is upon us.
Have you registered yet?? The Early Bird Basic pre-registration cost of $15 is only good until the end of the month. Then Basic level pre-registration for the event goes up to $20 until it closes in early September. Register on-line. It's fast, easy and only takes a minute or two. http://www.wpafw.org/reg.html
You gave us feed back last year and one of the big items was that you wanted to see more time scheduled for the park and at the same time you asked for better use of the hotel function spaces and more programming.
We listened and if you haven't seen the preliminary weekend schedule, you need to go check it out on the website. We've added two hours on either end of the time block at the park and added programming and activities on Saturday morning. http://www.wpafw.org/event.html
Fleshing out our blocks of programming are where we need some help from you however. If you're registered for the event, or planning on it, and would like to give us some ideas and input on what Special Interest Group programming or panels, such as artistic or fursuiting techniques, writing, or spirituality, you'd like to see. There's a thread out on the event Forums, http://www.wpafw.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=135, where we'll be taking your input.
We'll take the ideas that get the most interest and use them to fill in a few of the voids in our Programming Grid. So please visit the site, register and share your ideas and suggestions.
At the same time, if you feel comfortable enough that you'd like to host a panel on a particular topic of interest, contact our Programming Chair, Xavier Fox, at social AT wpafw.org. Panelists will be eligible for special perks and recognition at the event.
Volunteers! Yes, we're looking for volunteers to help out in various ways throughout the weekend. We have about a dozen Volunteer slots which need to be filled and only pre-registered attendees will be considered. Volunteer hours will be tracked and will be applied towards lowering or defraying your 2008 registration costs. Once you've registered, if you'd like to volunteer, or you've been tagged to volunteer, contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Shortwave Husky, at volunteers AT wpafw.org.
Everyone have a safe summer and look for our ad in Anthrocon's Convention Program.

Morphicon Report: Part 2
Posted 18 years agoMorphicon Report: Part 2
Personally, the convention was just what I needed.
Last Thursday, Silaria and I celebrated our 10th Wedding Anniversary. We arrived at the hotel around 5pm and got checked in and unpacked the car, then Sil, Xavier and I went to Buca de Beppo to celebrate the day. Big hugs to Xavier for springing for that. :) Sil and I decided that since it’s our anniversary weekend, that any commissions we get would be of both of our fursonai in a loving embrace or interacting together in some way.
When we got back to the hotel again, I had to lay down and catch a quick power nap or I wouldn’t be functional for the Astronofur’s Star Party at 11pm that night. While I laid down, Sil and Xavier went in search of a Sam’s Club to get a box of cupcakes with which to celebrate our anniversary with the early birds arriving at the con.
TOS arrived somewhere around 8PM and I bopped around the con meeting old friends and making a few new ones. I lent a paw here and there where I could but just generally absorbed the growing energies as furs continued to pour into the hotel and the con began it’s slow build up.
I got into Ashes to take part in the Fursuit Meet and Greet, but when we arrived in Factory Square at the scheduled time, there was no one there. I stayed in suit for about a half hour, strutting around the hotel and interacting with folks, but I had to get back to the room again to put the telescope tripod together in preparation for that evening’s panel. I found out later that no sooner had I gone back to the room that the fursuiters came out of the woodwork for the Meet & Greet. :P
We crashed around 1AM and got up again around 9AM to give us time to get cleaned up and over to Bob Evan’s for breakfast before Opening Ceremonies followed immediately by my scheduled IronClaw game. IronClaw was a bust that early on Friday afternoon. I had two players, but the game really needs a minimum of three to be playable. I rescheduled it for Saturday between 1 and 3PM.
So I had a little time to grab something to snack on before getting suited up as Ashes the Fire Dog for the Fursuit Parade at 4pm. There were 33 Fursuits on Friday afternoon for the short parade through the hotel and photo shoots. I’ll have to say that organization of the parade left a little to be desired. While the walk under the lights in the Ballroom was a nice touch…no one knew that so we kept traipsing across the stage following the fur in front of them. Again, there was a lot of potential for good things which was missed because of poor communication.
After the parade, Sil, Javi, BrendanRoo and I disappeared for dinner at El Acapulco Mexican restaurant. They have really good food and lots of it at good prices.
Yeah, I guess I was pulling out all the stops at this con and subjecting Ashes to the Pet Auction was a bit risque. But in reality, we were being actioned off for a dance at the fursuit dance later that evening and the proceeds raised went to the con's charity. I managed to sell for $10 but while waiting for my turn I helped to play the audience and show case a few of the furs before me, a couple of whom went for $30 even $40!
When we returned to the con again, we had yet more time to relax and enjoy things. Odendo dragon brought an armful of games into the gaming room and I got in on a game of Settlers of Catan while I waited for 9pm when our first set of Looney Demo’s was scheduled. I was pretty well off in the game and pretty much cut all brick production off from the rest of the players unless they traded with me or Catan. But eventually I had to turn my efforts over to Xavier so I could go and run the Lab.
From hosting Looney Games Sil and I put those back in the room and I turned right around and got back into Ashes for the Fursuit Dance so I'd be there for that dance with my mystery benefactor. He didn't show, but I had a better partner in my wife Silaria. I enjoyed the dance for about a half hour/forty five minutes. Ashes even got to spar with Magnus using his lightsabers when the DJ spun the old 70's Star Wars Mix. That rocked!
We left the dance shortly after that so I could get out of suit and help lug the telescope back outside for another excellent night of observing and sharing the stars with the attendees of Morphicon. It was 2AM before I saw the inside of my eye lids for the night and we had a full day of programming and activities we were involved in. But that’ll have to wait for another entry.

A Decade of Love!!
Posted 18 years agoMy dearest wife. I know I'm in love with you such that,
Even in the depths of darkness I can see your smile and it brightens my whole being;
When life is still and quiet, I can hear your laughter and it lightens my heart.
My dearest soul mate. I know I'm in love with you when,
I hear your thoughts before you speak them out loud, (Quit wanting Rita's already!);
Even in the throws of life's toughest challenges, I still find the strength to show patience and keep on when others would falter and fail.
My dearest friend. I know I'm in love with you because,
Thoughts of our first meeting bring a smile to my face at the audacity of chance;
While the look in your eyes as we stood together before family and friends on our wedding day remains imprinted on my mind.
My dearest Sheri.
Ten years as your loving and faithful husband seems a blur of memories; challenges faced and overcome, dreams shared and fulfilled, and a love spoken and revealed. Through it all my love for you has remained steady and strong; my patience and resolve boundless and infinite.
You have helped make me a better man, friend and husband and have cemented my life. I look forward to another decade together with you, and more beyond that.

Preliminary Programming Grid us UP!
Yes, I said programming! This growing event is taking small steps each year to try to keep pace with our growing number of patrons. Last year we added function space and activities at the Comfort Inn; this year we’re adding organized panels and activities to augment the “free form” and “laid back” atmosphere the event has been praised for. Species SIGS, Fursuit, Art and Writing Panels, Saturday morning cartoons and a Drum Circle are all being planned. We’re also bringing back movies on Friday night, video games on Saturday, and LaserTag at the park. Don’t miss the popular antics of Mandarin Orange and his cast of characters as he emcees the Charity Raffle. Finishing out the event will be the first ever Furry Weekend Menagerie, an hour and a half of open performances.
This short message by no means conveys all the information available on this year’s event. I encourage you to visit the Western PA Furry Weekend website at http://www.wpafw.org for pre-registration, programming and activities, and lodging just to name a few. I also invite you to sign up for the Furry Weekend Forums where you can get the latest information on the event, pose questions and suggestions, take part in polls and hook up with your friends for room and ride shares.
So mark your calendars and register now to join us in the beautiful autumn clad foothills of the Allegheny Valley and see friends old and new. The Western Pennsylvania Furry Weekend, October 5th, 6th & 7th, 2007!!

I saw this commercial for the first time last night while we were eating dinner and I completely ROFLOL'ed. :)
Sil's response?
"You will NOT use Edan as a broom!"
That just made me laugh all the harder.
Poor little pom though. :)

Puppy Countdown!
Posted 18 years agoWe pick up Edan, pronounced AY-den, in
2
days!
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/512600/ I just posted the link to today's picture rather than the whole picture itself. The picture is a 3/4 pose where you can get a good look down his side and get a better idea of his coloring. Edan is described as a Mahogany/Sable Sheltie and the breeder believes that the dark mahogany area of fur across his shoulders and the back of his head will grow more and more dark as he grows older. We'll have to wait and see.
In the meantime, we're expecting a "Furarri" crate for the little fur ball to arrive on our den step sometime today. Picked up a couple baby blankets at Goodwill to line his crate with for the time being. Hopefully that will facilitate easier cleaning should he have an accident or get sick in his crate. We have to do another "once over" on the den to make sure it's been "puppy proofed." Living with adult dogs all these years and not having to deal with it, I'm pretty sure we're gonna miss something.
I think we've hit on a solution to our "lack of a fenced yard" situation. First off, we forgot Animal Friends' new facility has three or four fenced in areas where we might be able to talk Edan and let him run a bit. We may also be able to utilize that to work with him on agility in another year. But for at the den, I was thinking I could rig up a "dog trolley" system between the corner of the garage and the big oak tree. This would offer Edan much more freedom and access to the dog house. Just have to put a couple stops on the line to keep him from going over either hillside.
We're both a mixture of anticipation and anxiety. We're looking forward to bringing Edan into our lives. Very much so actually. But at the same time we're anxious about making his transition into our family an easy one for him. We're also a little torn between keeping it a relatively quiet weekend with him, or inviting the world over to meet him.

Since Shelties are Scottish in origin, we decided that a Scottish name in the Gaelic spelling would be appropriate. Edan, pronounced AY-den, derives from the old Irish name Áed, pronounced EE or AY, which meant "fire". This was a very popular name in early Ireland, being borne by numerous figures in Irish mythology and several high kings.
Oh...um...we're both very excited. :)
