Twitter AD
Posted 4 years agoA shout out to some of my "Little" friends!
I invite you to give me a Follow on my Locked AD account over on Twitter (at)princesoggyfox (Edit: FA parsed the "at" symbol)
I've noticed that I follow a whole lot more than follow me back and that makes it tough to interact.
18+ please. Things there aren't suitable for me let alone kids under eighteen.
Thanks!

Posted 4 years agoBFC3 Report! (It's short. I promise!)
Posted 4 years agoHey friends!
Well YES! I did find time over the weekend to participate at BFC3 this weekend!
At about 3pm, Sunday afternoon, I had some time to myself. So I followed my link over to the Daycare Area, which is where the breakout rooms are for the various artist and private chat streams are. It took me about 10 minutes to figure out how to move myself into one of the Breakout rooms. (The moderators were enjoying a conversation of their own with a couple friends. I'm sure had this been earlier in the event, they would have been more attentive. I cannot expect someone in that position to think that someone brand new to the event would be signing in 3 hours before the event was over.)
Looking through the rooms and their occupants, I chose to hop into
Fen-Fen 's Art Stream Room as
firebreath was also in the room. The three of us chatted for about 15 minutes or so while I watched her work on a personal commission. I heard the buzzer for the clothes dryer go off at the house, so I excused myself and logged out of the event to take care of the laundry and help Mama with the dishes.
I was able to log back in around 3:45 as I noticed there was a panel at 4pm that I might be interested in. I logged into the panel that was just finished, something about baking cookies, and was immediately engaged by the panel host, which kind of set me back a little bit. I had to apologize to them that I was early for the next panel and I had no idea what cookies she made to be able to tell her what my favorite cookie was. (It was awkward for both of us. *chuckles*) So I muted myself and waited in the room, listening idly as the participants chatted and made plans to take the animated conversation into a room in the Daycare.
A moderator came in and took control of the room. They worked behind the scenes to located the Panel host, but by 4:15, it was clear that the 4pm panel was not going to happen. The Moderator opened the room up to general chat and, I have never felt so out of touch with the Community as I did at that moment. What I realized is that it sounded more like I was at at "Littles" Munch than around a bunch of Babyfurs.
I left the panel room and went back to the Daycare area. I looked through the breakout rooms and I think I was looking for something that was just a public play/chat area. I was so jarred by the community disconnect that I was no longer interested in pursuing inserting myself in an active room just to sit quietly, disinterested in the conversation and un-engaged.
Feeling awkward, un-engaged, and conversationally deficient has been a common denominator between BFC#1 and BFC#2.
I do hope that the folks who organize and run BFC can get a live event off the ground in the near future, for the benefit of the whole community. What my experience has shown me is that my time is passed, socially. I don't know how I would do at a live BFC, or Teddycon, or whatever the other one is called. I need to be able to slip into head space to really lose myself in the moment. Granted, once I'm in the zone, I can sit alone and just entertain myself without the need of others...but why spend the money to attend an event of this nature and magnitude if I'm just going to end up alone in a room full of people?
I don't know. I'm probably fussing over nothing. I promised this would be short, and it's not. Long story short, I made it to BFC#3 and logged in for about an hour or so total and the experience was good and bad.

Catching myself...
Posted 4 years agoOkay...after my gripe yesterday about BFC and social detachment, yadda, yadda, yadda...getting those feelings off my chest offers the opportunity to reflect.
So, last night I registered for BFC #3, to at least give myself the chance to engage socially, and at the very least, support this positive opportunity for the Community.
Thanks to everyone who replied to yesterday's journal post. I appreciate your time, thoughts and point of view.
*Hugs*
Doing better today...Oo! I picked up my concert ukelele last night after dropping it off with the lutier to have it checked out, set up and the strings replaced.

No BFC for me this weekend
Posted 4 years agoFor all my history with the Babyfur Community, the good, the bad and the ugly, currently I feel as though I am a part of that community, but detached from it socially.
I was in attendance at the First BFC last year, I kinda stayed in the lobby most of the time, trying to figure out what virtual room to hop into. I did hop into Scott Jame's art streaming room for a bit, and into the playroom for a spell, but without a solid network of friends, it was like sitting at the bar and drinking alone.
Also, since it was virtual, I wasn't "properly garbed and outfitted" so the normal "vibe" and "head-space" wasn't present.
This is not BFC's fault however. It's a well run, virtual event, doing the best it can with what technology is available to it.
The large "friend base" I once had, that numbered in the hundreds and was completely un-maintainable, has percolated down to a tight knit group of 3-4 dozen good friends.
This has resulted in the Social Aspect of Cons and Gatherings being greatly diminished and my personality and fursonas becoming virtually unknown. Heck I have the same problem on VRChat.
I do have other things to do this weekend, so even if I was registered for BFC, I'd be on for an hour or two, then off for a while. I also have the Pittsburgh Bowling Meet to look forward to Saturday night and a possible "sleep over" with a BF Friend in the area.
For those of you going to BFC, thank you for supporting their efforts and I hope you build some lasting memories and have a good time!
I'm still out here, doing my thing, taking it one day at a time, glad to have had some part in building a community that has become a positive experience for so many..,furry and babyfurry equally.

Posted 4 years agoA pic of anthro Swift sitting and playing the Ukelele.
I've been playing for like 4 years now and I love it so much I don't want to put it down to learn guitar.
Walking around AC in Ashes, playing the Uke was one of the highlights of 2019.
It's beyond time to have this done.

MLP thoughts...
Posted 4 years agoI watched a YouTube video yesterday by a Gen 4 FiM Community Contributor who basically gave a very candid look at the Gen 4 MLP Fandom all the way up to the last BronyCon.
I rode that wave, back in the day, and while I enjoyed the show I didn't sign on as a "Brony" because of the general intolerance and need to distance themselves from the Furry Fandom...at the time of their inception. This continued for a few more years, until it ebbed, but it didn't change my opinion. I remained a furry and enjoyed MLP parallel to the Brony fandom. Heck! I was a fan of MLP in Generation 3...not so much Gen 3.5...but I digress.
Watching the video yesterday made me wistful of the time spent and enjoyment of daily role-play of various MLP FiM characters with the TwitterPonies group. I spent hours maintaining my original account with the group, Winona. Then moving on to role play as Cheerilee as a character, hosting school sessions every afternoon evolving to the point of creating subject curriculums and bringing on other teachers and special guests to broaden the experience. I also had the privilege to roleplay as AppleJack, Applebloom, and Silverspoon over the years that I was involved. In that time I created an OC named Ringer who was Ponyville's Fire Chief and brought over from G3 Skywishes to "round out my stable" with a pegasus pony. Actually, come to think of it, I never did play a unicorn pony.
I drifted away after about 5 or 6 years. The RP was mostly OC focused and the new players lost interest in the school RP. Playing Cheerilee in that environment had diminished her focus and finding time to interact with other canon players became difficult as my life, work and responsibilities changed.
I wonder now and again what became of the TwitterPonies group and whether it has faded away now that the show ended? I don't think I was ever "Horse Famous" as the term goes, but I sure found a welcome distraction in RolePlaying ponies for several years.
Thanks for reading my rambling.

MLP Gen 5 Trailer?
Posted 4 years agoI've been seeing a lot of hype over the brief trailer for the upcoming, direct to Netflix, movie for My Little Pony, Generation 5. However, in all the video's I've seen, there's been no sound.
Now, I get that they're probably doing it so the video doesn't get yanked down...but what I can't find is...the Official teaser video release that has music, sound effects, what-have-you?
Has anyone found the official teaser release?

First Shot...Got
Posted 4 years agoThis morning I received the first of two COVID-19 vaccination shots, since the PA State program opened it up volunteer firefighters as part of the first responder category.
It's been about an hour and my arm aches, but that's about it right now. Worked enough hours Monday thru Thursday that I could settle the remainder of my 40 hours up with work using 4 hours of PTO.
Shot #2 is scheduled for Friday, March 5th. If the side-effect from that shot are to be believed, I'm going to need to do the same and clear my schedule for Saturday also to get over the low-grade fever and other yuckiness. Glad I have a means to cope with that.
Anyway, I feel like a good citizen, neighbor, co-worker and (blech) human being for doing my part and getting vaccinated.
*Hugs*
Have a great Friday y'all!
