What is this AC thing everyone is talking about??
Posted 16 years agoEverywhere I look I see AC...AC...AC spoken about in anxious and/or excited tones.
Lots of art commissions in advance of AC also.
Is this some cryptic acronym for "Artist Con" or something?

[Anthrocon] BF Meet & Greet!
Posted 16 years agoI had the opportunity to brain storm the Meet and Greet with FoxCub last Thursday night at the monthly fur meet and I believe we came to the consensus that he will host the,
Babyfur Meet and Greet at Anthrocon
Thursday, July 2
2-4pm
in the Cub Hub. (Location TBA)
It was our thought to have this early in the event so folks can meet and be able to socialize with others throughout the rest of the convention. It was also timed in such a way that attendees could decide on a venue and extend the socialization through dinner.
I'm sorry that I will be unable to host the event or join you as I'm working a full day on that Thursday. Thankfully, Fox was able to step up and take the reigns.
So put it down on your "Things to do" list and support this little piece of Babyfur programming at Anthrocon.

[EVENT] Pittsburgh's Monthly Fur Meet! 6/11/09
Posted 16 years agoPittsburgh's Monthly Fur Meet!
When: Thursday, June 11, 2009
Time: 7-9pm
Where: Schenley Plaza, under the Tent Structure. http://www.pittsburghparks.org/schenleyplaza
(In the event of rain: Panera Bread (Oakland), 3401 Boulevard of the Allies, Pgh, PA 15213)
With summer upon us, we should take advantage of the warm weather and longer evenings and try an capture an out of doors venue where we can not only sit, relax and enjoy the free WiFi, but also play a little. Schenley Plaza allows for a covered sitting area, as well as grassy areas for throwing frisbees and the Quad area which has been popular with those playing lazer tag. Food and drinks are available just up the road at the 7-11 on Forbes Avenue, or at the many eateries another block down the road.
Schenley Plaza is a part of the City Parks Conservatory and I don't know what their view of costumed critters are. To err on the side of caution, I'd say no fursuits, (aka closed face costumes). Ears and tails however are welcome. Pets, and their responsible owners, are also welcome at Schenley Plaza.
In the event of rain, we will return to our old home at the Panera Bread on the Blvd of the Allies in Oakland. It is my hope that with the semester out and most of the college students away, this location will not be overcrowded.
The meet is what you make of it, so come on out and have some fun with fellow Pittsburgh Area furs! Don't forget to bring and show off your con badges if you have them! It at least helps us know who you are on the inside. :)
For more information and directions, visit http://www.swiftsden.net and scroll down to the section titled "Monthly Fur Meets."
Hope to see you there!

[EVENT] Pittsburgh's Monthly Fur Meet!
Posted 16 years agoPittsburgh's Monthly Fur Meet!
When: Thursday, May 14, 2009
Time: 6:30pm – Closing
Where: Games N'at in Pittsburgh's South Side
http://www.gamesnat.com
Cost: $10 (Play all night!)
Arrive as early as you want and stay as late as you like! Games N'at also has the most reasonably priced snack bar that I've ever seen here in the area.
Shuffle up to the pool tables, get in some fast paced games of air hockey, try your paw at pinball or reminisce with a room full of arcade hits from the 80's. :) If you're not up for arcade games and such, there's plenty of room to sit and socialize or break out the sketchbooks and draw. They've even got a big screen television you can hook your Wii, Xbox or PS3 to if that is your thing.
Fursuits are welcome and tails and ears are encouraged.
So come on out and have some fun with fellow Pittsburgh Area furs and don't forget your art badges if you have'em!

[EVENT] Western Pennsylvania Furry Weekend! Oct. 2-4, 2009
Posted 16 years ago[Please pardon the rampant x-posting]
I’m proud to announce the Western Pennsylvania Furry Weekend, http://www.wpafw.org, is being held the weekend of, October 2-4, 2009, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This year’s “Featured Artist” is Starrazzor who is one of the region's local talents.
Event Pre-Registration is now OPEN!!
Registration for the Furry Weekend covers the Friday night, Saturday morning and Saturday evening’s programming at the Comfort Inn, Pittsburgh North, and the Eighth Annual Fur-b-que Saturday afternoon at Fireman’s Memorial Park in Aspinwall, PA!
Early bird, pre-registration begins now and runs until midnight on June 30!
Early-Bird Pre-registration is $20. (That's a 33% savings of the Basic Registration price!)
Supporter level Pre-registration is $40. (All of the above plus a Furry Weekend badge, front line privilege for food at the Fur-b-que, five Charity Raffle tickets, color print of the program’s cover art, and other swag to be determined.)
After June 30, Pre-registration goes up to $25 for a Basic registration until pre-registration closes in early September.
Hotel Room Block is AVAILABLE!
The Comfort Inn, Pittsburgh North in Harmar Township, PA, just off PA Turnpike exit 48, has afforded the event a spacious room block at a flat rate of 79.99 a night (plus taxes.) Call today and reserve your rooms and don’t forget to tell them you’re with the “Western PA Furry Weekend!”
This year's "Relax a'meet" will still feature all our most popular activities so we have room for them; and you, our guest, will still know where and when you need to be to take part. So look for Lazer Tag, the fursuit photo shoot, the group photo at the park, Saturday's morning cartoons, The Menagerie, gaming and plenty of time to relax and socialize. Of course, the event wouldn't be complete without the picnic dinner followed by the one of the best Charity Raffles hosted by Mandarin Orange and his associates. Due to the influx of fursuiters we saw in 2007 and 2008, we'll be setting aside the Cheswick Room as a "Headless Lounge" to encourage their continued support and participation.
This short message by no means conveys all the information available on this year’s event. I encourage you to visit the Western PA Furry Weekend website at http://www.wpafw.org for pre-registration, programming and activities, and lodging just to name a few. I also invite you to sign up for the Furry Weekend Forums where you can get the latest information on the event, pose questions and suggestions, take part in polls and hook up with your friends for room and ride shares.
So mark your calendars and register now to join us in the beautiful autumn clad foothills of the Allegheny Valley and see friends old and new. The Western Pennsylvania Furry Weekend, October 2nd, 3rd, & 4th, 2009!!

It's been over 48 hours...
Posted 16 years ago...it's safe to move it out of the Scraps and into my Main Gallery.
The more I look at it, the more it's grown on me to accept it. For a change, I'm actually happier with something after I've colored it than I was with the sketch. I guess that's a positive thing. I used to dread applying color to my sketches...but that was back before I had access to digital coloring.

Morphicon takes steps to embrace Fursuiting
Posted 16 years agoHi friends!
Swift Fox from Pittsburgh here to share some news of importance to our little part of the fandom. Over the last handful of years, Morphicon, held in Columbus OH, has been down-played as not being a "fursuit friendly" convention. As the new programming director for 2009, I've asked Lascivus Lutra to help me as Fursuiting Track head with the instructions to produce a list of panels that will change that perception in the fandom.
I think he's succeeded in that task and I'm here to share a little of what the fursuiting community can expect when they register to attend our event the weekend of May 15-17, 2009. Morphicon will have two dedicated fursuit friendly dances, two sets of fursuit games, a judged Masquerade with awards for performance and construction, professional photo sessions, a parade and photo shoot, and a host of "How to" lectures.
Under my watch, I've tried to steer the programming for this convention back towards center; but the only true litmus of our success and failure is shown by your support of the convention and what it has to offer. I encourage you to give this small, social convention in central Ohio a second try. I am confident that Morphicon will not live up to it's reputation this year.
Thank you for your time,
Swift Fox (Ashes the Dalmatian)

I encourage you to give this small, social convention in central Ohio a second try. I am confident that Morphicon will not live up to it's reputation this year.
Thank you for your time,

Pittsburgh's Monthly Fur Meet! New Panera Location!
Posted 16 years agoPittsburgh's Monthly Fur Meet!
When: Thursday, March 12, 2009
Time: 7-9pm
Where: Panera Bread, 7217 McKnight Road, Ross Twp, PA 15237
Due to the ever decreasing amount of space for us at the Panera in Oakland, we're taking the event to the Panera Bread in Ross Township. With the move to the new digs we get to finally take advantage of their Private Meeting Room!
Come and relax with friends old and new; break out your sketchbook and be creative over a warm cup of chai; play cards or other table top games; or open your laptop and surf the net over the free wireless connection.

Morphicon 09; Adult Art & Writing Panels needed...
Posted 16 years agoHey friends and watchers.
Morphicon is infamous for supporting a small array of programming specifically geared for attendees 18 and older. We're lacking one or two artists and or writers, who will be attending Morphicon this year, to present panels on facets of "drawing erotic furry images" or techniques for "writing fur-erotica."
If you are interested, you may leave a comment below or PM me with your idea, questions or concerns.
Thank you for your time and interest,
I look forward to discussing this with you in more detail.

[EVENTS] Annual Babyfur Parties.
Posted 16 years ago(x-posted to various lists and forums)
Hello folks!
I regret to inform folks that after over a year of consideration and reflection on the matter of the annual "private" AB/DL/Babyfur parties that I have been hosting for over a decade now, 2008 marks an end to opening up myself and our home for the Spring Fling and Halloween Parties.
I release the events and their name from my purview to anyone who'd like to take up the torch and continue the tradition.
That said, as many of you know, Sil and I have accumulated a nice assortment of themed accessories and decorations that had helped set the atmosphere of each party. Many of these were paid for by party funds, so if the new organizers would like them, we can discuss inventories and arrangements privately. The .html pages can also be transferred and I'll also make myself available for consultations to share advice and lessons learned.
I'd like to close by saying this was by no means an easy decision for me. I've enjoyed bringing smiles and a little bit of your childhood back to life, but my time and enthusiasm for these events have waned over the last year or so and it's time to let them go. Thank you everyone for your support over the last decade and more.
