'Everybody Draw Muhammad Day' Notice
Posted 15 years agoI've seen a few journals from those in my watch-list involving descriptions of what people intend to submit for this new annual tradition.
Some of it is...well...It's not good stuff.
Alright, the phrase 'not good stuff' isn't exactly accurate or detailed. For a more effective breakdown:
The idea of EDMD is to demonstrate expression of free-speech unrestricted by radical threat of religious retaliation. It's a response to peoples' expression of ideas being blocked by unreasonable threat-backed resistance to certain ideas being questioned. It's not meant to be insulting or demeaning. It's to demonstrate an inalienable right as a mass objection to censorship.
What a lot of the journals are describing are things meant to be deliberately offensive. That changes the theme of the expression from 'examining ideas and expressing thoughts without fear of persecution' to something like 'being a fucktard for the sake of being a tard and venting pent up disgust by being as blatantly confrontational and crass as possible'.
Doing the former is entirely within the lines of FA's user agreement and upload policy. Hell, even I intend to do something for EDMD. I can't draw for shit, but I'll probably write up something like a sparring roleplay character sheet for Muhammad, just for kicks.
Doing the latter is not ok; by either a level of ethics or by the site's policy. Free speech is a critical part of artistic expression, but expression with the sole intent to be derogatory isn't something I'd ever support. And I do support the site's upload policy when it comes to matters like that. The section pertaining to subjects like that reads as follows:
Harassment
Images or comments intended to harass, slander or otherwise directly disrupt the use/enjoyment on the site will not be tolerated. This includes, but is not limited to the conveyance of: racism, bigotry, derogatory remarks regarding philosophies, religion, sexuality, race, gender or association, or images or comments directed at any other individual(s) to incite or inflame matters of personal conflict on the site.
If you're planning to make a submission for EDMD in a tasteful and artistic expression of your freedom of speech, awesome. I'll look forward to it and I'll probably be doing a lot of faving.
If you submit something that's a blatant slander of the prophet, like him having been butchered alive or screwing a camel, I'm reporting it to be taken down.

Ten Uncool Admissions
Posted 15 years ago
1. If Sarah Palin were to be killed, I would be glad. I'd actually prefer it to be in some way that's genuinely humiliating as hell. I can't stand the woman.
2. I am not bad at L4D or L4D2......But fuck, I get pwned more often than I'd like.
3. When I first discovered Buffalo's Wild Wings, I tried the Blazin' Challenge twice. The challenge is to eat 12 of their hottest wings in 6 minutes.
I was defeated both times.
4. My knife-skills in the kitchen have really slacked since I graduated culinary school. I gotta bump that back up to par.
5. I still listen to Aqua occasionally.
6. Do I procrastinate? Hell yeah. No point denying it. The first chapter of A Treasure Worth the While was posted over a year ago. I didn't intend to do anything further, until a few other members prompted at me a bit, and a few ideas slipped into my head. But even after the ideas were there and I even had outlines written up, I'm still dilly-dallying. I gotta find a way to kick this.
7. I have absolutely no artistic capability, at all. I can't even make a stick figure symmetrical.
8. I have been sorely tempted to smack Creationists before. I haven't done it yet; but if one more starts a debate with me on the street or on the train, gets angry when I start apply logic and scientific evidence to things, and gets in my face, I'm probably gonna go for it.
9. It frustrates the living hell out of me when someone adds me to their buddy list, then never engages me in any further form of contact, or even responds to my own messages. Seriously, what the fuck? That really bugs me to no end. I've blocked people for it.
10. Most of the muscle-mass I picked up in the military has faded away. I kept it pretty well toned during college, when there was the campus gym in easy reach. But I have a surgical operation coming up that means I can't exercise or eat in a way that would build up mass again...for a while at least. This means that while I like being all nice and cut, right now I'm almost a skinny twig.

Simply a fantastic expose on sustainable fish farming. A great example of how properly conducted research and ecological balance can yield a superior product and encourage respect for the environment.

Active Watcher Check (Purger Notice)
Posted 15 years agoThis is something I'll try to do on a yearly basis from now on.
Please post just a 'Yo' or whatever else you like in this journal to signal that this is an account actually being paid attention to. A good few of the people who have watched me I've tagged with return watches. Some I also watched of my own interest before they chose to keep an eye on my account.
I'd rather keep my watch-list clear of accounts that are either dead, or have little to no interest in what I submit though. If people chose to keep watching, super. But I'll use the results of this to trim my own watch list down a bit. The removals will start in about two-weeks.

A Day In the Life [MEME starter]
Posted 15 years ago5:00am - Bright and early wake-up. Check email and FA for any important stuff, get some caffine in me, breakfast, hygine, get dressed.
5:30am - Between now and 5:45 I usually aim to be on my moped and on my way to the train station. So here I've departed the house and I'm puttering my way down the roads through the area, hopefully not hitting any deer or other critters like I have before.
6:00am - In all likelyhood, usually I'm still driving a long. It's not a short commute.
6:30am - I'm at the station by now, and if the trains have cooperated with their timing, the moped's locked up to the bike-rack outside and I'm on my way into the city. I usually take out the work manual here and study or edit.
7:00am - In the city, at the hotel, and getting changed for work.
7:30am - Work begins! Finish setting up the dining room in the restaurant and wait for the first customers.
9:00am - This is when the first real rush hits. Lots of people have woken up and start streaming into the restautant for breakfast. Crunch time.
10:30am - On a good day, this is where the morning rush ends and we start lunch set-up. People who came in before me also start taking their shift break here.
11:30am - Lunch officially opens. There's usually no one at this point though. Maybe a few early seatings, but the lunch rush usually hits a bit later.
12:00pm - I usually get my break around here. Half an hour for food, internet, bathroom, etc. I'll hit the employee lounge, log into FA, turn on parental control briefly, and check any journals, notes, or submissions that have cropped up.
12:30pm - Back to work! This is also the usual start of the lunch rush. Often instead of sticking with one of the servers who's servicing the customers I'll stay with the kitchen and focus on running food out to the tables, then running back to the kitchen for another go. This doesn't mean I don't serve the customers, of course. If they ask for something or have a question, or just want to strike up conversation then I'm happy to help. But if I'm away from the kitchen too long the chef'll start getting antsy, since food needs to get to tables before it gets cold (or warm).
1:30pm - The lunch rush is usually over by now. I'm focusing more on keeping the tables we have seated happy than getting food for the ones sitting. There's other servers who have more time and flexibility now to go back and check for food on their own. I'm serving wine, keeping glasses filled, clearing plates, and chatting up guests to keep them comfortable and happy. The theme of the restaurant is casual service paired with upscale food and beverage quality, so we're not acting snooty or overly formal.
2:30pm - Right about here is when the floor has mostly emptied out, aside from the occassional walk-in or table that's been in deep conversation for the last hour or so. We're usually doing prep for the dinner shift here. Gotta get silverware polished, clean cups and glasses, folding napkins.
I'm working with the beverage manager a lot myself, since he knows I'm studying to become a sommelier. Right around now I'm editing the training manual, studying wine, or doing a special project for the restaurant's beverages. The day before yesterday that consisted of zesting 100 lemons to make lemoncello.
3:30pm - The evening shift people are coming in now. I'm usually getting antsy to see my replacement. Officially my shift ends at 3:45, but you're allowed to flex it a bit to accomodate late replacements.
4:00pm - Usually I'm done for the day. Maybe a bit later than this if the night members are late, but by now I'm often clocked out and any extra projects are done.
4:30pm - Probably got something to eat in the city. There's lots of restaurants in DC, and while I've got my favorites I like trying new ones as often as possible.
5:00pm - On the train, headed home. Kinda a repeat of the trip up to work. I'll work on the manual, study, read a book, watch some video on my Zune, listen to music, or I'll nap if I was up late the night before. My stop is the last one on the line, so when the train stops it doesn't really matter if I'm asleep.
5:30pm - Back on the moped. This time of year it's usually as dark as when I rode in the morning, so I'm keeping my eyes peeled for poor drivers who can run me down without even noticing me, or errant animals that I don't want to collide with. I don't use my high-beams much, except on the long and open roads. I keep the low-beams going because they catch bumps and cracks in the road better, and they keep out of the eyes of other drivers without me having to flip them a lot.
6:00pm - Back home! If it's an exercise day I chug down a work-out drink and do a power-yoga routine. Then if I haven't eaten already I'll get some food in me and take a shower.
6:30pm - This is when you can usually expect me to start messaging people on AIM or YIM, plus finish up clearing my inboxes of new messages accumulated during the day. It's my veg-out/relaxing time, unless there's critical stuff to take care of, like online bill-payments, etc. Also it's when I do my writing, or my editing for stuff people send me, like Hellkat, Cherri, and others.
Since there is also jack-squat to do in my town, this is usually my evening as well. I save money and fun-time outside the house for the weekend or my days off.
8:00pm - Dinner and TV. Dinner with the family, usually with us watching something like Dirty Jobs or Mythbusters.
10:00pm - If I have any sense, this is when I'd go to bed for the night. That early-morning wake-up is a bitch when you don't have enough hours of sleep under your belt. Often I skip it though, and I just spend more time chatting with buds, browsing the net, watching stuff on Youtube or Hulu, or writing.
11:00pm - Might be in bed. Probably not. It's usually bugging at me to do so by now though. If there's something interesting on the comp or TV though, then I'm likely going to finish that first.
11:30pm - If it wasn't a work-out day, and I'm being really stupid about sleep management, then this is where I take my evening shower and hygine up for bed.
12:00am - In most cases I'm asleep. The day is done, unless I've got no work for the next few days, there's something really important keeping me up.

Global Warming Myths, Debunked
Posted 15 years ago-is a spectacularly simple but beautifully accurate series on youtube that does exactly what it's titled as doing: It looks each angle on the global warming factors (both real and popular myths) and lays out what's accurate, what's been skewed, and what's outright bullshit (like the movie "The Great Global Warming Swindle")
It's research focused. If the stance or viewpoint presented by public figures differs from the research either for or against the actuality of the planet's current condition the narrator, potholer54, dispells any of the confusion and sets the record straight. And he does so clearly, concisely, and unbiasedly.
The series is also a work in process. The most recent video has been dedicated to the recent hacked (and quote-mined) emails, settling what was actually said in them, why it was said, the issues the emails were centered around, and how those emails (or rather choice bits of them) have been taken completely out of context to create a stink.

[Meme Starter] What tugged your heart the most?
Posted 15 years agoWe've all seen plenty of movies, read plenty of books, looked at plenty of comics, and heard plenty of stories.
For this meme, just to satisfy the curiosity of others about what really gets that emotional rise out of you, pop up which scene(s) from books you've read or movies you've seen.
And then tag 5 people to respond with their own. Make sure you shoot them a pageshout or a Note!
I actually have three that tie in pretty well with one another in just how hard they took a stab at my chest and struck me with a feeling of intense injustice that couldn't have been avoided, no matter how unfair it was.
1) In 'The Green Mile' by Stephen King, both the book and the movie: When Delacroix was executed by Percy, incorrectly, and had to suffer through several minutes of being electrocuted and burnt alive purely because Percy was an asshole.
2) Also in 'The Green Mile': Finding out John Coffey was totally innocent of the crime he was charge and convicted with. He wasn't just innocent, but he'd actually been trying to repair the damage, making him effectively a saint. But that he wanted to die anyway simply because his 'gift' caused him so much pain every day. And even if he hadn't wanted to die there was no actual physical or evidential proof available to save his life. His case was already closed, and the only evidence available was 'miraculous', and unbelievable in any court.
3) The Land Before Time 1; when Littlefoot's mother is killed by the Sharptooth, and he has his last words with her as she dies in-front of him. I think it's been proven by licensed psychologists that if a person watches that movie from the very start and is not moved (at least to some extent) by that scene then they can be ethically labeled as a lower form of life.

All they had to do was pop up character info (or a link to it), and a 'wish' for them to make upon meeting Teff.
Whelps, she got done writing mine! You'll find it here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3072965/
True to form, Pandemic does the unexpected. You'd been hard-pressed to see the story's intent from the start of it (unless you cheat, and read the submission info).
But swing on by, give it a read, give it a fav, and leave a comment. I'd also strongly endorse tagging her with a Watch and examining her other submissions. Pandemic's style is fantastic!
My celebratory piece of Trinitite
Posted 16 years agoIt arrived in the mail today, and it looks like it's in excellent condition. I ordered it to celebrate getting my first paycheck from the Mandarin Oriental.
The top portion of it has a few rough edges around the sides, but the middle part of the upper face looks quite smooth and even has a bit of gloss to it. The bottom portion, which is effectively solidified desert sand that was melted by the bomb's blast but not smoothed over by the shockwave and instead bubbled like lava is pretty textbook.
All in all I'm very happy with the acquisition. It's a nice representation of how genuine Trinitite is supposed to look, with none of the tells of a counterfeited piece.
I'll get a picture up tomorrow. I'll also be taking it to the Smithsonian to see if I can have it checked under a geiger-counter. If they let me bring my camera I'll try to get some video of it clicking.

The Charter for Compassion
Posted 16 years agoIn several TED speeches a presenter named Karen Armstrong put forward the concept of a charter for compassionate treatment of human beings with one another.
It does not follow the doctrine of any current organized religion, philosophical theory, or cultural viewpoint. It is based on the compilation of commonalities between many of each of those, cementing their positive attributes in a guiding and encouraging document for all who would care to follow it.
It's been extremely well received as a step forward in the promotion of human rights in many countries across the world. TED is offering now, on their homepage, for individuals to put their names in as affirming the charter's value and importance for acknowledging the need to treat those we encounter with compassion and understanding.
I myself am encouraging any of my watchers to tack their names onto it, and to put up journals of their own to spread the word about the idea. This is, after all, a fringe community that is often maligned with bad stereotypes and an often-toted message of acceptance and understanding of others. Support of something like the Charter for Compassion and an implementation of it in the daily lives of those in the community would be a stupendous thing to see.

Transportation Get!
Posted 16 years agoMy new position at the Mandarin Oriental carries with it a few interesting circumstances. The principal of those is the clock-in time. My shift begins at 6:30am!
I've got a tricky commute to manage in order to get from my home to the hotel. I live maybe 40min away by car and train combined. And I don't have a car, or even if I did the finances and parking space to manage it.
So today my mom and I went to the nearest motorcycle/ATV/jet-ski/motorscooter store, and after working with their finance division and shopping for the neccessary safety gear I got set with a nice silver motorscooter. The shopping included a jacket with abuse-absorbing protective plates, a helmet, some locking cables, and for the back-porch a solid steel anchor point that I'm going to bolt into the concrete tomorrow. I don't have room in the driveway for the family car and the motorscooter, so the back porch it is for storage.
It's a nice little Yamaha. Gets up to 40mph and 90 miles per gallon. Decent boot size too,
My daily routine will be consisting of:
-Wake up at 4:30-4:45 (first couple days will probably be at 4:30, till I get a good routine set)
-Breakfast, hygiene.
-Set out for the train station on the scooter.
-Lock up the scooter good and thorough at the station, ride the train into the city.
-From the stop in the city walk to the hotel, change, and clock in.
-Get off work at around 2:30-3:00pm. Head home.
Once it arrives I'll take a picture or two and pop them up here.

Graduated, Job Hunting, Going Reserves, and School
Posted 16 years agoAlrighty then! Here's the slightly delayed status update, but still significant in summarizing all of what's gone on in the past few weeks.
First big thing, I graduated from The Culinary Institute of America.....for the most part.
I decided to really test myself and take the Advanced Wines course as my senior elective class. I'd been doing plenty of studying and I knew more than most of the other students in my other classes did about wine, so I expected I'd do quite well in the class and earn myself a nice bullet for my resume. And I was pleased that aside from a few quizes I didn't do so well at I did very nicely in the class. I was one of the more vocal students, and the professor gave me high marks for participation and comprehension.
Not high enough to offset just how badly I did on the final exam though. I got raped. I thought it was a remarkably easy test, and that I knew most of the answers as I wrote them down. As near as I can guess he probably ripped into me on the spelling of Italian and French stuff, which made the answers wrong, and which meant a lot of my answers were along the lines of being right without actually getting the points for them. So I failed the course.
I still graduated though, because it was an elective class and not part of the standard academics requirements. I just have to make it in an online course, and when I do the Culinary Institute will mail me the up to date diploma for my Bachelor's.
The graduation ceremony went extremely well regardless. I was surprised to receive an award for my participation on the school's Judiciary Board, where I'd been doing service for nearly a year and a half. So not only did the position get me a bit of bonus attention for scholarships (which really came in handy, lemme tell you), but I got called to walk across the stage and receive a medal for my efforts in-front of everyone. Lemme tell you, that had me feeling good. I spent the rest of the ceremony in a kind of euphoria, stunned that I'd gotten an honor like that.
Job hunting begins now. I'm talking with a few different companies in Washington DC. It'd be nice to work at either the wine-store and restaurant that I'm eying, because it's a very unique venture, or at the Mandarin Oriental by the water-front.
To offset the need for extra money though, the need for medical insurance, and the need for dental coverage, I'm going into the Navy Reserves. I did four-years active service already, plus four years of inactive reserves (standard contract). Now I'm talking with the recruiters about going into full drilling status so I can collect a steady and reliable paycheck. Much of it will go to helping with the house, but an equally large amount of it is going to be directed to going towards the student loans generated by CIA and this online elective I have to take. It'll be a very handy bump up in income. The checks aren't likely to be large, and I'll have to do my drilling, but they'll be coming in often enough that they'll stack up to a tremendous impact.
So, that's what my current status is. Fortunately none of the events particularly interfere with my participation in the community here or my mod-ship duties on the forums.

Moderator-status Get!
Posted 16 years agoMy second application for position as a moderator on the FA forums was accepted!
With that acceptance, I've been placed alongside MLR in the Writer's Bloc, getting things organized and up to speed.
I'll probably ask that I also be slated to work in the Art Exchange, since that's where I got my start in really getting involved more in the community and where I've made a nice organizational impact with my Request and Trade threads.

Favor for a fellow member
Posted 16 years agoVincent-forge (www.furaffinity.net/user/vincent-forge) has run into a bit of car-trouble. It's repairable, but it's also not cheap.
For that reason he's offering some low-priced full-body commission pictures, to drum up the funds.
If you're interested, swing by his page, check out his material and the examples he's offering in the deal. His line-arts are very crisp and his work with anatomy is actually very impressive. If you've been looking for some reasonably priced pieces to add to your gallery then it'd certainly be worth your while to grab the opportunity.

Turn-on Meme
Posted 16 years agoI got tagged to do this one by Amethystine after I double-tagged him to do the 8 Random Facts meme (because his first rendition of it really sucked )
I'll list them in order of common stuff to the more unusual kinks. Some people share them, some people don't. But at least with the kind of lead-up this creates it'll make things a little easier to understand just why certain things are appealing.
I'll do it this way just because some of the other journal entries of this kind I've read are a bit on the random side. It's usually a bit of a hodgepodge of fetishes. It doesn't give a really good or accurate profile of the person's interests that way, even when there's explanations behind the stuff listed.
1) SCIENCE!
2) Readability. Sorry, I don't care how particularly creative and interesting the set-up you've arranged in your story is when it's unreadable. This is a real problem on any website where people submit written works and there's not 'obligation' (for lack of a better word) on their part to proof it effectively in advance. If someone wants to write up a shitty block of text without hitting the Enter key, capitalizing, punctuating, or even attempting to portray the actions of the people involved in the story in a mildly realistic manner, then I'll close it without trying to make sense of the mess.
I listed this as a turn-on though. And to be frank, a person's prose can make a story more arousing. If it's well composed, if the characters are described as acting like real people with real feelings, and the things described are relateable to me as I read, then it's a much more erotic a read. That goes for comics with a bit of erotica in them, or just single pictures. Is it nit-picky? I don't think so, no. If someone's drawn a superb picture of a hot mewtwo lady working herself up, but she's crying out 'O mai GaD!' then I'd feel almost cheated at the poor quality of the piece.
Have it make some level of sense! I really hate reading or looking at a piece where something that could be arousing has absolutely no reasoning behind it. Some people have responded when I put up a semi-critique asking about things like huge holes in logic, lack of common sense (like when the main character is a girl, wanders into a dark alley in the middle of a dangerous neighborhood, and even thinks to herself that it's a bad idea) by saying 'I know it wasn't the best way to do it, but I figure people won't really care and just want to read the hot part.'
The stupid plot devices and lack of reasoning hurt the eroticism too! Don't do it! Don't portray something half-assed. Give the audience a reason for things to happen and they'll enjoy it more, rather than have to stretch their suspension of disbelief even further.
Even more so, I hate reading the 'hot part' written in a deliberately shitty fashion. It's friggen irritating to think someone would write an entire story filled with more derogatory, repetative, deplorable drivel under the guise of thinking 'If it's written real dirty, people will like it more.' No, they won't. Your works will get next to no views, compared to the people that maintain their prose. It's little more than half-assing things. I can forgive people for creating plot-holes due to lack of knowledge. I can't gloss-over deliberate fucking up.
3) Good old-fashioned hetero sex. I'm only kinda teetering on the edge of being bi-curious. Just barely, and that's about all. The most I can say is that I understand why those who are gay prefer what they prefer, and play along those lines I'm really not opposed to. But I've always had more an eye for women, that's likely not to change, and it's what I'm most comfortable with.
4) Just as old-fashioned lesbianism. The above being said, two ladies making out is hot.
5) Restraint/Control. I really don't like the usual fetish material in this regard, like cuffs, whips, leather, ect. Do I get why they're used in the real world? Yes. That's the materials available on hand that are practical for people to surrender a bit of control over themselves.
But when it comes to art and fictional writing, you're not limited that way. I like people getting more creative. Someone wants to write a plant getting overly friendly and teasing a character trapped by it for hours on end, go for it. Someone wants to write or draw a character getting trapped by a blob of some kind? Go for it. I'm not into stuff like fatal vore and the like, but the loss of control concept is still kinky. And the sphere of possibilities in this regard is largely endless. I like the idea of someone being assertive and someone else giving in to that or being forced, and the sorts of things that can be forced are really wide open (see the following items in the list). I just call the line at things like rape or pain. Those are genuine turn-offs.
6) Reptile-ladies. This is where the real furriness starts showing through, not just the kinky side of me that could get satisfied with a trip to the porn store. It goes a bit past a sexual thing here, and really more into my ideals about body-type, personality, ability, and sense of self. I've always been fascinated by reptiles. Snakes, lizards, ect. Scales I find wonderful, both in feel and in appearance. The behavior of them I find equally so, because reptiles portray a mix of traits that are almost feline, but infinitely more measured and precise. But no, I'm not sexually turned-on by animal members of the family.
The furry community opens the idea of anthropomorphic reptiles though, and because I'm much more inclined to females, that includes reptile-females with boobs. Yay!
Imagery or stories with reptilian females I'll love almost unconditionally.
7) Mew-whatevers. Mewtwo's body-type I loved. Female renditions of it I find exciting. And hot damn do I love Nek0Gami's renditions of Salah!
Seriously! Mewtwo-inspired morphs have almost an exaggerated version of the female form, but not quite exaggerated, and from the entirely furry perspective the tail blends into things seamlessly and sensually. I love the potential of a body like that to look incredibly sexy incredibly easily.
8) Alternative genders. Following the way above comment about being at best bi-curious, this one probably catches people either off-guard, or isn't much of a surprise.
I'm the open type. When it comes to relating to another person I don't really give a damn if they're male, female, shemale, intersexed, hermaphrodite, ect. It's actually damned irritating that people do act like asses about something that's either a representation of someone's ideals or something they honestly can't do a single thing about for risk of their health.
And to be frank, while I'm a guy, every single other guy has wondered what the other side feels when they're having sex. It's human nature to wonder things like that. And when you read stuff on FA that involves either the opposite sex or those with cross-gender traits you get at least a mental glimpse of what goes on and what it's like.
And to be frank, lots of it sounds damned appealing. So appreciating the image of a hermaphrodite, an intersex male, ect, that's not a big deal for me to admit to liking. Why not fantasize about a body that can experience the best of both worlds? There's actual members of their gender in this one anyway. Anyone who objects is really just upholding a social norm that is actually violated more often than they even imagine. I find the only reason anything bad happens when someone admits to liking a gender different than male or female is when someone else who's afraid of those concept cops an attitude about it. The trouble usually comes from the one's afraid of differences.
9) Transformation. It's a niche fetish, yes. But I've always been fascinated with the concept even in a non-erotic usage. Some people hold the human form in high-regard, and say it's a model of superiority.
As many furries probably already feel themselves, I disagree. So content featuring the body being modified for whatever purpose I'm drawn to if for no other reason than to see what kind of final design is reached and for what purpose (and you'll note that word 'purpose', and how it connects to the point I made above about there being a reason that's understandable. Pointless or otherwise random TFs I find irritating wastes of potential).
But wow! It's got so much erotic potential! Transformation can imply a loss of control or domination if it's done unwillingly or to an unwanted extent. It can cross genders. It can change species. Wanna throw merging in there? You can! Wanna go for the ultimate loss of control, and touch on inanimate transformation? Go for it! Plant-based and rooted in place when it's all said and done? Why not? That's another kind of restrain, control, and bondage all wrapped into one. Transformation by nanomachines into one of Nek0Gami's LGDs? Fuck yeah! Then it's wrapping up SCIENCE, a bit of mind control, and the final form isn't bound to any species barrier or inspiration.
It's exotic and limitless, and that's the appeal.

An excellent artist. He used to be a really good friend of mine, but then he just stopped posting art, stories, and actually hasn't even contacted me on AIM in months. He hasn't updated anything at all on his FA page either. I figure this'll at least annoy him a bit.

An awesome artist, who also apparently really enjoyed my 'A Treasure Worth the While' story. So clearly an open-minded individual.

An excellent artist. He used to be a really good friend of mine, but then he just stopped posting art, stories, and actually hasn't even contacted me on AIM in months. He hasn't updated anything at all on his FA page either. I figure this'll at least annoy him a bit.
http://www.furaffinity.net/user/leasara/
A wonderful writer who's on a few sites that I am, besides this one. Some of her stories I honestly didn't 'get', but some of her works were among the first I'd read on FA, and they were consistently high-quality.

We just started talking on AIM a bit ago, but he's fav'd a few of my submissions.
8 Random Facts Meme
Posted 16 years agoI actually got double-tagged for this. Once by Kanic, and I was kinda laggard in responding, then again by pdairas. I figure that's a cue to actually respond.
1) I'm a student at the Culinary Institute of America. I'm hoping upon graduation that I get a front of the house position at a hotel or casino in Las Vegas, and my graduation is only a little under 2-months away.
2) I'm currently awaiting the arrival of a new Alienware m17 (the m17x being way outside my price range). I'll likely jizz in my pants when it arrives.
3) I've always been a fan of transformations of various kinds, and anthropomorphic characters. A buddy of mine linking me to pokemorph-centered porn is what I remember being the kicker that got me searching on the net, finding Yiffstar, and then working my way here.
In the things that he linked me, Salah, done by Nek0Gami, stands out as still being the one I worship the most.
4) The more sparkling wine and champagne there is in the world, more specifically, the more that's close at hand for me, the better the world is.
5) I'm giving an Aikido presentation to my Histories of Asias class next week. During the presentation I'll repeatedly slam a good buddy of mine to the floor in-front of everyone.
6) I really have been working on the second chapter of A Treasure Worth the While! I've even got following chapters at least mapped out.
7) As a MMORPG I used to play EVE Online. My clan leader also ran two web-forums centered on roleplay or roleplay sparring, and I was the head moderator of the sparring forum for nearly 2 years (apprx a year and a half), and I participated in a sparring tournament on his main site.
I quit doing all of it; the modding for him, the participation, and dropped out of EVE entirely, when he knifed me in the back and turned from being an extremely competent and reasonable person into a total incompetent and total dipshit. Strangely enough, he still has my name listed as one of the sparring site's representatives, so every now and then I get an email in my inbox saying someone wishes to join my group.
8) 'Golden Curry', a Japanese curry base you can buy in some supermarkets and almost all Oriental stores or gift shops, is probably my favorite post-workout and dormatory food when you combine it with a pack of microwavable rice and some meat. It trumps ramen in every way, from flavor to nutrition.
BONUS!
9) I really, really, really cannot fucking stand seeing a journal entry titled '...'. I seriously fucking hate that. I hate that even more than an uninformative title, like 'Hey!', or 'Blah'. Fuck that shit. How apathetic do you have to be to put three damn periods or a single and uninteresting word as your journal entry and yet still expect anyone to give enough of a damn about it to read it? I delete those on sight.

Dude, really, give it an honest entry, nothing half-cloaca'd. There is genuinely no reason not to, short of the meme not being of the slightest interest. Leopard's writing was among the first I ever read on FA, when I first stumbled across it. As a fan of sci-fi stuff his Der-ra-jin story chapter (the only one, at the time) was immediately among my favorites. I'm helping him with editing and story critique now on the recent releases, and they've remained excellently entertaining.

He's got some really interesting character design. There aren't alot of artists that draw multiple genders (yes, there are actually a good few here on FA, but not so in the rest of the art community. Most just stick with male and female and that's it), but his cast of chars covers a wide gamut, and his artwork itself is superb.

Story ideas to be offered up and tried
Posted 16 years agoOne reason (out of many) that I included so much material in 'A Treasure Worth the While' was because of a journal that Strype put forth a while back. He pushed for members of the community to 'push the limits', rather than stick with just the same-old same-old.
I liked that idea. It pointed out some really important facts about how the furry community can be startlingly varied yet still be somewhat...repetative.
I can't say much relating to the visual arts because I myself can't draw a stick-figure in a way that's anything above looking horrid. But because writing is something I really enjoy I do notice the occassional divergeance from the norm, and often times it's immensly entertaining to read. Unique angles are probably one of the reasons why I like Amethystine's writing so much.
Just to see if any of my watchers care to try some of their own takes on novelty I figured I'd throw out a few project ideas that they can collaborate with others on, try themselves, or add too the pool.
________________________________
Things to give a shot at:
1) Collab project between yourself and another writer, in which your fursonas/characters swap lives/bodies for a short while (by whatever plot-device you care to use). You write your character having taken their place, they write their character having taken your place.
2) A change of theme. Take a character that is often (or exclusively) used in particular story types (since this is FA, PORN!) and use them in a different context. Something along the lines of an action, romance, or drama role. If they're used in a ancient society context, try a futuristic setting, adapting as many of their personal facets and the features of their world as you'd normally include to meet the new condition.
3) Species Exchange...sorta. Write your character as a different species, going indepth as possible on what would be the same for them, and what would be radically different.
4) Music-themed piece. Listen to a song that appeals to you and write a story that (roughly) follows its lyrics in plot and pace.
5) Something well outside your usual tastes. We all have our 'dos', 'don'ts' and 'Not my things'.
Don'ts tend to be faily off-limits. Give a theme that isn't to your common interest a whirl. Don't do it half-heartedly either. Read a few pieces that feature the material, try to pick apart what the appeal oft is for others (if it's something you don't understand), and then give a detailed piece a shot.
6) With permission and asking for details when needed, try utilizing one of the environments/worlds of another writer. If it's a setting that fascinated you when reading it then try your hand at being a part of the place. Try it with members of the society that you write in, or try it by inserting one of your own.
This doesn't mean you rewrite the world to suit your character base though. You have to be honest and frank with how the appearance, habits, and actions of your character would be percieved in the new setting. That would be one of the things you'd want to clarify with the original creator of the world.
7) Extra-challenging: Take the idea from the first suggestion, the swapping of characters, but genuinely swap characters. You take control of someone else's character and write them finding themselves in the place of one of yours. They do the same with one of your characters.
This is a tricky proposition, because it tests not just how well you can write a different character, but if you can peg their reactions to the situation as accurately as the original owner would like to see them portrayed in different situations. It's something of a leap of faith and trust too, since if it's not to a standard that you or they would prefer it could be requested that the piece not be posted. It's an entertaining exercise for those that are familiar with eachother's cast though.

Also the laptop is now back in action. I got burned, badly, by a trojan-worm that made my hard-drive its personal feeding ground, and it did that in less than ten minutes upon striking. I don't know where it came from because it could have slipped in at some point when it attacked on Thursday night, or it could have been idling on the comp for weeks or months from an earlier intrusion.
Either way it neccessitated a new hard drive. Thankfully I had stuff backed up on seperate portable drives, so not much was lost. This means I can get back to working on chapter two of A Treasure Worth the While.

Fursona/Pokesona Name Meme
Posted 16 years agoCharizardcowman took the Fursona meme and modified it a bit. I figured I'd pass it on myself.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
1.What is the name of your Fursona and Pokesona?
Dan/Daniel/it's my name.
2. Where did the name of your fursona/pokesona come from?
Well DOIIIII!
3. What species is your fursona/pokesona and why did choose that species?
Mewthree. I saw the First Movie, loved it, and got drawn to some of the mature-theme pokemon/pokemorph websites. When I joined an RPG the first character I created was a mewthree. I kept the character (slightly changing them over years) for use in later RPGs, and after finding FA I settled on that general body-type and species traits as my fursona. It had been designed the way it was because I liked the traits exhibited by Mewtwo himself, along with felines.
I'd designed the character with those respects in mind though, to keep it consistant with the mewtwo-theme of the RPG. When I came here (after a while) I decided to mix in my interest in reptiles as well, and changed his pelt into a coating of scales.
4. What color is your fursona/pokesona and why? Hair/fur/eyes/etc.
Black scales, and the chestplate is more like a shiny black plastic. I really am not sure of the eyes yet, actually. I alternate between having them black as well, gold, black with gold steaks, or teal.
5. What is your fursona's/pokesona's personality and how does it compare to your RL personality?
It's me. I don't like having 'my fursona' being portrayed as different from me. Yes, there's always an element of fantasy and escapism involved in anything furry related, but in my particular ideal I'd rather have the body, instincts, and sensations of my fursona and still be me.
6. What is one item your fursona/pokesona owns that is significant to you in RL?
There really wouldn't be much different between what my fursona owns and what I own.
7. What is one thing you think you think you would say to your fursona/pokesona if you could meet?
I don't think of my fursona and I as different people. So we wouldn't meet. My fursona is just how I visualize myself in an ideal body.
8. What is one thing your fursona/pokesona would say if you could meet?
See the above.
9. How long have you had this fursona/Pokesona?
As my actual furson, maybe less than a year. As a character model I've used in various RPGs......A long time.
10. How has your fursona/pokesona changed over the years?
I modify based on the context of the RPGs, so that's a hard question to answer. I decided on a mewthree as my actual fursona maybe....a year ago. And a few months after that I settled on changing the fur to scales.
11. How would you feel, if another artist used your fursona/pokesona?
If it's general character portrayal I don't mind. I can't draw anyway :P If it's in written material then I'd actually be curious how they'd portray me, since I figure that'd be revealing to how my personality presents to them.
Other than that I don't really mind anything.
12. Does your fursona/pokesona have any friends and if so, how would you describe them?
Dicey question. I'd hope that would be friends with the fursonas of my friends, or my RL friends if by some chance I actually got to take on my fursona's form.
13. Does your fursona/pokesona have a crush?
Not particularly.
14. Is there anything your fursona/pokesona would NOT do?
Anything I wouldn't.
15. If you and your fursona/pokesona where in battle, who would you say would win?
lolz, that's funny, and ridiculously one-sided.
16. Would you like to be more like your fursona?
I honestly do wish I could have the form of my fursona. Maybe a few more decades of genetics research and it'd be possible (with the right amount of money too, since I figure that'd be ludicrously expensive).

The Sex Meme
Posted 16 years agoWhy?
Because beating around the bush can get to be a waste of time.
And in keeping with tradition, if you're one of my Watchers consider yourself tagged, unless you just don't feel like doing it. I'm somewhat curious if this meme will for some reason get more shots back than the Omnivore's 100 did, when the Omnivore one is considerably less personal.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Sexual orientation: Straight. I like the idea of hermaphrodites alot, but I don't deny that in our times right now that's really just a fantasy. My girlfriend is quite gorgeous and I'm quite happy with that.
How often do you think about sex: I...Dunno. With school, thinking about a future job, roleplay, social life, and everything else I don't think about sex obsessively.
How often do you HAVE sex: I try for each week. Depends on my girl's schedule, really.
Worst sexual experience: I don't think I've ever had a genuinely bad one.
Cybersex? Phone sex?: Cyber is fun. It's a nice way to indulge in fantasies like my interest in herms.
Casual sex: All honesty, sure. Be safe about it and not stupid, but go for it if the other person has no illusions about what's intended and is looking for the same thing.
What is your favorite masturbation euphemism: I don't think I have a favorite. Most of them I think as being just cliche.
Sex toys and related fetish accessories: To entertain my girl I bought a silicone vibrating ring that goes down at the base of the penis. The vibration doesn't feel like much for me, just a little something interesting. But it gives her quite a twitch when it brushes against her. Other than that she's not too into anything extra.
Least sexiest body part: Body-hair. I'm glad I don't have much on my chest or arms at all. I hate the way my legs look though.
Favorite body type: Athletic.
Body hair: Said already.
Monogamy or polygamy?: If you're young and still largely single, and your current partner(s) don't mind, and they're being safe then I don't really care either. Go for it. If you've settled down and someone gets pregnant then you better stick to a more stable relationship for the the kid's sake.
Underwear: Under Armor.
Pornographic or erotic: Erotic I like more. Building a fantasy can be alot more entertaining than seeing the same old same old.
Favorite hair color: No real preference here.
Kissing or cuddling?: Both.
Most attractive nationality/ethnicity: No real preference here.
Most attractive anthro/furry creature: I'm a scaley fan bigtime. And of course most anything mewtwo-related.
