First Inanimate-TF Story Commission Selected
Posted 12 years agoI received a number of story concepts here on FA and on DA as well, and after putting everything together the one that I've settled on first was submitted by
DigitalPotato
So it begins! I'll dig into the work and I should have some results for him soon.
If anyone is curious about the progress of things there'll be an updated progress tracker on my main userpage.
Want to send in a story idea yourself? I'm still open for them. All idea are kept and when I'm ready to start work on one I'll let you know. Guidelines are below.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Inanimate Transformation Story Commission Guidelines
-This will be for stories about characters being turned into objects.
-This can be clean (safe for everyone), mature (include things like nudity, violence, or foul language), or adult (outright sexual or provocative content).
-I will be selecting the commission to write based on my interest level. Send your ideas to me via note. If the idea you've noted to me is something I just don't feel comfortable with I will note you back informing you of this. I'm not the type to leave people hanging. And I will be working on one piece at a time. Everyone is welcome to send in ideas, and I'll keep them saved regardless of what is going on, but I'll be giving one piece at a time my undivided attention.
-In that respect, if you note me an idea and it's the one I accept, I will make an announcement about it. I don't want people left hanging wondering just what's going on. If you want to be anonymous, just say so in your note, and no names will be mentioned. But I do want to inform everyone that something has been accepted, and I will make a progress update regularly on my page.
-For the time being these will be mostly single piece commissions. I might move on to series or chapters in the future, but for commissioned works I will be focusing on stand-alone works. That's not to say that series works are completely off the table, of course. But interest-factor will be a big part of whether or not I agree to it, along with time availability.
-I will not write anything involving: scat/watersports, cub/baby/young characters, outright gore (violence I'm fine with, but I'm not looking to write about bloody-murder or the like in inanimate-tf stories). Some other stuff might end up on that list, and I'll of course state reasons why if asked.
-I will of course write about a lot of the other themes that go along with different sorts of inanimate-tf, like melting, paralysis, bondage, merging, etc. Want something like food/candy TF? Vore's fine with me too. That extends to fatal/negation endings for the character. If you want to the character be brought to their final end with the end of the story, very well. I won't deny it fits with the theme. Wanna add in extras, like TG? Sure. I commission that plenty often myself, so I'm not going to be shy about others asking me to write it as well.
-The rate will be an initial $10, and go at $10 for 1000 words. Let me know what sort of range you're looking for in either price or length. I'm likely to be very flexible in that regard. I won't charge extra for content types. It's the time spent in-front of the keyboard writing that the charge is for. The $10 is due upfront via paypal, the address of which I will note to you. I will round the fee up or down as needed (ie, the commission ends up being 6551, you pay $70 after the $10 starting fee)
Tied in with this, I'm going to do something to give myself a kick in the bum and make sure I push at whichever project I take up, and it'll be something I've not seen from anyone else.
If I fail for whatever reason to make decent progress (like a week goes by and the story just doesn't move along) I will refund you not only your $10, but also a 10% bonus from the initial estimate. You want your story written, I want to write it (obviously, if I accepted it), and if something happens to prevent that then as far as I'm concerned you as the commissioner should receive some compensation beyond just a refund of the initial fee.
-Be detailed in your commission description. I am a very detail-oriented writer. Don't believe me? Read 'A Treasure Worth the While'. That might factor into the cost, so keep it in mind.
-I'm open to writing fan-characters, but if it's based on a series or such that I'm not familiar with I will need to take time to research it and portray things well (remember, detail-oriented). That won't stop me from accepting the idea, make no mistake about that. It'll just add time to the writing process (time, not length, so it's not something you'd have to pay for. Heck, you might hook me on something new).
That's all I can think to put for now, but if questions are asked in the comments I'll answer them as best I can and update this entry with the relevant information.

Opening for Inanimate-TF Story Commissions
Posted 12 years agoYes, I've decided to take a tentative dive, and go for it. A bit of extra money won't hurt me, and it'll be a nifty way to go about making sure my writing muscles stay...lubricated, so to speak.
Or juiced/exercised/worked-over, or a lot of other words that have just a bit of innuendo behind them.
Of course I have to give a thank you to anyone who posted advertising journals for me from my last announcement where I said I was considering this. I did get some traffic from those, and that's helped me make this decision. So to each of you, thank you very much.
I have never done something like this, I'll be frank about that fact. So to ensure there's a level of quality and ensure I'm not biting off more than I can chew there's going to be some rules. Every writer's got guidelines, and these will be the ones I'll operate under.

Thinking About Writing Inanimate-TF Commissions
Posted 12 years agoIt's something I've considered for a few weeks now, but I wanted to put up this journal as a sort of feeler to my watchers. And if they want to pass the journal around I won't exactly turn down any commentary or interest.
I've commissioned a good deal of TF story content, and the story 'A Treasure Worth the While' (the final draft) is currently the most popular inanimate transformation story on not just this site, but also on SoFurry. I do still have a partial second chapter written, and it's been needling at me to actually finish it up.
But along with that I've been thinking about giving a bit more back. Inanimate-TF is a rather niche community in an already niche community, so it'd be nifty to see just how much I could contribute, and also nifty to see just who/how many would be interesting in having something done by me.
So this journal's something to test the waters a bit. I'd just like to know from any of my watchers would be interested in commissioning me for a bit of inanimate-TF writing. If you want to put up an idea or note me about it, go for it. I'd be curious about what themes people have in mind. And if you're a watcher of mine and don't quite like inanimate-TF content yourself, but some of your own contacts do, by all means sling them a link here.

Free Art Offer Pimpage
Posted 12 years agoIt's not too often I'll do a pimpage journal like this, but this is a unique offering being made.
kb-unlimited made and offer in the following journal (http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/4842306/) that, in short, is that once a week he'll pick an original character from those submitted (as long as those submitted are accompanied by a pimpage journal, or course) and do a full picture of them.
That's a tad different than a lot of the one-shot 'free art' journals I've seen. So I'm going for it, and I'd encourage any of my watchers to give it a whirl too.

Birthday Tomorrow
Posted 12 years agoYuppers, B-Day tomorrow.
I wish it could be a fun one, but it's actually going to be a double shift at work. Gotta keep a steady stream of income going for the house and all. So I'll probably just hit the gun-range for a bit of delayed fun on Monday (also a work day).
But that's the big news. Hopefully next year can be a bit more festive. But at least this birthday can be a money making one. Working at the hotel on your birthday earns extra pay, and I'll be working two shifts.

Uploads Coming!
Posted 12 years agoIt would seem that I've built up a bit of submission backlog. I've got a few things that could be put up, but just haven't yet.
So!
Over the next few days I'll be putting up one picture or one story each day. When will it be done? Why, when you see a day go by without a new thing from me, of course.
Hopefully I won't forget about anything, but it's a big spread.

Shetira Commission Story Up
Posted 12 years agoI put up a journal advertising
Shetira for the commission spot she's opening up for a short story here: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/4438918/
The reason that story slot is up because she finished the commission she did for me, and uploaded it here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/10144303/
So go read it! Purty please go read it!
And this is Shetira's first commissioned piece, so please do give her commentary (and of course favs).
Then someone grab the slot!

A Writer -Someone- Needs to Commission
Posted 12 years agoI say someone because this writer is opening up one commission slot.
Will there be others after that slot is complete, sure? But for right now, that still leaves an opening of -one- for someone to grab. And if you want a story done at a competitive rate and by an author that's got a very wide range of subject matter they're comfortable with, you better jump on this now. It won't be open long.
Shetira just finished up the final touches on a commission for me (semi-inanimate-tf story). I was her first commission attempt, and I gotta say to all my watchers, there are few commission takers that have been such a pleasure to work with. Her journal is here: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/4426347/
If I can list off in short bullet-points that don't quite do her justice but keep things clear and honest, they'd be:
-She does her damn level best to make sure what she's got written is what you're looking for.
-She really isn't too shy about subject matter. Her gallery covers everything from pretty tame stuff to vore to, as my commission covered, inanimate-tf of various different types.
-She communicates better than almost anyone I've ever commissioned (and if you'll see my gallery you'll note that's a good few people). Seriously, she asks questions in advance, she gives you drafts with the option to revise things, she'll bounce ideas off you that might actually surprise you with how they enhance the original ideas, and she follows through with her timelines while keeping you informed.
-Like I mentioned above, she keeps her timelines.
-The part a lot of potential commissioners are concerned with, the price, is excellent. Shetira's rates are fantastic, especially considering the quality of work you get.
These are traits that you rarely get to see all put together in a single writer. If you have had a story idea in mind but haven't been sure just which author you'd be willing to approach, go to Shetira's page -now- and shoot her a note with the concept.

1) Tell you something I learned about you by looking at your FA page for 10 seconds.
2) Tell you a color you remind me of.
3) Tell you my first memory of you.
4) Ask you a question.
5) Tell you something I like about you.
6) Tell you the object that is in front of me.
7) Dare you to do this yourself in your own journal!

New Mewtwo Movie
Posted 12 years agoSo yes, Ash is still a kid, even after all these years.
Yes, TR still dresses the same and gets their asses kicked.
And yes, Mewtwo is still a bloody bad-ass.
Seriously, I can't wait for this to come to the States or get subbed.
Help JeevestheRoo!
Posted 12 years agoYo everyone, this is a bit of a call to action/donation here.
JeevestheRoo is the writer who's written several commissioned stories for me (http://www.furaffinity.net/view/4131030/ , and http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3979572/), and is easily ranked as one of the best writers of the site. He's buckling down and aiming to produce his first furry novel.
Or at least he really wants to. He set-up a kickstarter to build up the funds he'd need to focus entirely on the project (ie, food money, water money, rent money, etc).
It was progressing swimmingly, but then one of the larger backers had some personal troubles which required them to withdraw their pledge. And the kickstarter's deadline is the 28th, so it's a very last minute set-back.
If you like Jeeves' writing, and want to see a full length novel written by him, PLEDGE! He's very close to making up the lose funds and having the kickstarter be a success! Help him reach the goal!

The Grand Tournament 2013 Deadline
Posted 12 years agoIt is the 5th of January, which is the deadline for entry into the Grand Tournament 2013 (http://www.lagedorre.net/forum/index.php)
There might be a bit of leeway for last minute entries. So....if you've been holding off, GO FOR IT!

The Grand Tournament 2013 Entry Deadline
Posted 12 years agoI got confirmation from Circ, the GT 2013 organizer, that the deadline for character submission is going to be left at January 5th. The contest itself will begin the week after that.

The Grand Tournament 2013 Follow-up
Posted 12 years agoJust as a follow-up from the previous journal (http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/4103491/):
The deadline for entry is closing in. If you're interested in competing then don't hold off on your entry. Put in your profile and join in before Janurary 5th.
Or, if you have any questions about the event, ask them now. Don't delay!

The Grand Tournament 2013
Posted 13 years agoIt's come around again, and like last year I want to see if anyone on the site (or just in my watch list) is interested in participating in the roleplay sparring Grand Tournament, 2013.
Where: Lagedorre (a forum set-up by the champion of the GT06) http://www.lagedorre.net/forum/index.php
When: The current start date is January 5th. I am probably going to ask the operator to extend that a bit, but that's what it's set at now.
What the hell is it?
A roleplay writing contest where you pit your character against the characters of people all across the net. People from forums and websites of all different types throw their characters into the mix and compete to see who the best of the best are.
Rules fluctuate based on who you're paired with each round. It's up to you and your slotted opponent to set things in a way that you're both comfortable with, and if neither of the members of a particular fight reach a consensus on rules that a judge will step in to balance things out. But this still means that you'll encounter a variety of different approaches and opponents, each with their own unique challenges and styles. It's up to you as a fighter to settle on just how to best overcome the challenge you're faced with in a particular round, and that could consist of someone using a Naruto-verse inspired fighter, someone more DBZ-ish, or someone's undead lich. They might be a good guy, might be a bad guy, and you might be either yourself. It entirely depends upon what character you want to use.
You also could end up in any sort of setting imaginable. There are no preset locations for the combat to take place in. It's entirely up to you and your opponent to decide on a suitably simple or complex arena.
What are the rules?
Each fighting bracket will last four (4) weeks. In that four weeks you and your opponent trade posts, each attempting to overcome the other. If you force a concession on your opponent's part, like they know they've been backed into a corner they can't get out of, you win. If the fight reaches the four week mark without a decided winner then a judge will render a verdict on who moves on.
Judgements will be based on who is in the better shape at the time of judgment, and their performance during the fight. It will not be based on writing quality, unless the poor quality of the writing compromised the ability of the judge and opponent to know what the heck was going on, or appeared to be poor with the attempt to mislead and create openings.
Common posting styles you're likely to see: Open, Closed, and Hybrid
Open: You can write what your character does, what they intend to do, and what the effects of what you do could do to your opponent. You are not allowed to write actions for your opponent.
Closed: You can write whatever you want. If you want to write that your character's sword slices your opponent's stomach open and dumps his guts on the ground, then you can, and your opponent must acknowledge it.
You won't see Closed used much in spars that in in-progress. You WILL see it for closing posts though, where someone's been told 'You win!', and they claim the victory by finishing off their opponent.
Hybrid: Somewhat of a mix between the two. Small actions, like punches being landed, are permissible to write.
Major actions, like arms being taken off or missiles smashing down onto heads, are not. You and your opponent must agree to what's acceptable.
What do you win?
It's a nice bit of bragging rights, for the most part. Feel free to pop the label of 'Grand Tournament 2013 Champion' up wherever you go on the net.
I want to see some activity from FA, of course, and keep the title I won in 2011/12 in furry hands. Soooooooo...
If the winner is someone from Fur Affinity I will purchase them a $100 commission from the artist of their choice.
That's right, a $100 picture, if one of you furries takes the title this year.
A Word of Warning:
If you're the sensitive type, or very possessive about what happens to your characters, this might not be the contest for you. Remember, this is a fighting contest. It's going to be violent. It's intended to be violent. If you have a character that's entirely good aligned they could be paired against someone who's using a lich that would just love the idea of ripping their heart from their chest. And if that opponent is the one who wins, that's what could very well happen if your opponent has declared that they're not going to tone their character's actions down.

Barack Obama Remains the United States President
Posted 13 years agoAnd I, for one, am overjoyed.
Champagne has been popped (sent the cork flying across the street, and I'll likely track it down tomorrow to hold onto as a souvenir). And I'll probably swing by the gun range in celebration tomorrow.
And man oh man am I going to enjoy the looks on the conservative coworkers' faces when I go into work tomorrow evening :)

The Death of Michael Clark Duncan
Posted 13 years agoThis, my watchers, is an actor I will miss.
It is bloody rare that a scene in a book or movie actually moves me to the point of tears. Blame chronic desensitization if you must.
But John Coffey's death in 'The Green Mile' got my waterworks going. And he was the -only- Hollywood figure that actually portrayed Kingpin decently. It's a sad loss for movie casts, the Marvel casts in particular, and the world to see this man go.
I know I'm sure as hell buying a copy of both 'The Green Mile' and 'Daredevil' in the next week.

Mewtwo Requires The Masses!
Posted 13 years agoThe Pokemon website is currently running a fan-base tournament, focused on votes of the community on who they think is the most powerful pokemon character.
Mewtwo, bless the Purple One, and Mew, bless the Pink Cute Thing, have made it to the semi-finals.
http://www.pokemon.com/powerbracket/us/
BUT MEWTWO NEEDS HELP!
He's made it through this many brackets and now suddenly he's falling behind in votes to Rayquaza.
Yes, I understand the appeal of Rayquaza. Don't get me wrong there.
But Rayquaza does not stand a chance against a pokemon with so much psychic power that he'dve terrified Professor Xavior even while he was hooked up to Cerebro.
So to all the Two fans, rally up! You can vote once a day. Let's turn the tide and keep Mewtwo in the fight!

Uncle Kage's 'Furries In The Media' AC 2012
Posted 13 years agoI -believe- I got a good recording of the entire panel. Tonight I'm going to screen through it and make sure everything is audible and such, and if it is I'll be uploading the video to Youtube.
Overall this was a damn good panel. There's a few recordings of it on youtube from other cons in the past, but this one had more than just Kage talking, was a lot of fun, and touched on more info than some of the others.
Plus there's a cameo of me being unable to tolerate Kage and a fursuiter drinking wine by pouring it out of the bottle, into a water bottle, and passing the water bottle back and forth between the panelists. Drove me nuts within a few seconds.

Commence the opening ceremonies!
Posted 13 years agoOr at least preparing for them. Everyone's siting down, and that's gonna take a bit. The was a majorly long line outside.
First Meet-up Opportunity at AC
Posted 13 years agoI'm going to be hitting the Characters and Dialog panel at 10am, and ducking out of that a bit early to attend the con's official opening ceremonies. Anyone who reads this just pop up a response or just swing by and say 'Hi!'
Side note: It's a bloody shame that the 'So This is Your First Anthrocon' panel, hosted by Kage, is at the same time as the 'Transfurrmations' panel. I want to do the Transfurrmations panel, but I really want to catch more of Kage's stuff, so that's where I'll be (and, fittingly, it's my first AC)
