Sketch Commissions/Broken Tablet/Off the Grid for a Week
Posted 8 years agoHey everybody!
Just wanted to make a quick update journal to let everyone know what's up with me right now. About a week ago, my tablet bit the dust from the same cable issue that I was having with the tablet before that one. So that's why digital art isn't gonna be coming out super fast for a bit. I'm getting a new one from a friend who wanted to get rid of theirs, and that should be here relatively soon, so that's great.
In addition to that, though, I'm going to be off the grid on a lake trip with some good friends for a week. It's an annual event, And I'm very much looking forward to hanging out with them and doing some paintings of the canyon the lake is nestled in. But this just means I won't be able to do digital art for an even longer period of time.
SO what this does mean though, is that if you ever wanted a sketch commission from me, NOW IS THE TIME TO GET THEM! I can't stress that enough haha. I will have a vast abundance of free time to work on things, and i would really appreciate the extra work/income since my main source of income is out of commission right now. They're 35 USD a pop, and I would complete them while out on the trip, posting once home. Just note me or email at spectshift(at)gmail.com if you'd like one!
Also, I'll be moving by the end of July (so busy haha)! I'm going to temporarily live with a good friend until I can find something more permanent, and just kinda hope it all shakes out. I officially quit my day job of four years, what with all of the changes happening in my life, so I've got to make it solely on art somehow. it's gonna be rigorous and very challenging, but i will do the best I possibly can to make it happen. Wish me luck!
ALSO if you want to go the extra mile to support art as my main career choice/lifestyle, please think about supporting me on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/SpectrumShift
It really helps not just with the obvious financial assistance, but also to put my mind at ease on having a more consistent income, especially when disaster strikes (i.e. my tablet dying). So yeah, I certainly appreciate it very, VERY much.
Anyways, hope you're all well out there! 'Till next time!

New Tablet and Sketch Commissions
Posted 8 years agoHey everyone! Small update: got a new tablet, so the work is coming again! Thank you very much for the support with the sketch commissions! It really helped me out a lot.
I'm currently waiting in a line for a portfolio review at Spectrum Fantastic Art Live. It's a wonderful art convention, but it's out of town. My flight doesn't leave until tomorrow night, so I need something to do all day tomorrow. I figured I'd offer some quick sketch commissions, like last time, to get to draw some of you folk while I'm waiting to return home. They're 30 USD, traditional pencil, just like last time. Just shoot me a note or comment here if you're interested! NSFW welcome.
Thanks!

Broken Tablet! (And traditional sketch commissions)
Posted 8 years agoHey everyone! I must unfortunately report that, as of yesterday, my drawing tablet has completely bit the dust. I took it in to a computer repair place, and they verified that it is indeed kaput. I also caught wind that that particular model is known to have issues, so fixing it (which would undoubtedly cost almost as much as an entirely new device) seems counterintuitive.
SO, the solution I have come up with is to just do some traditional pencil sketch commissions in order to get together enough dosh to purchase a new tablet of a different model. I've already done a few today, but I still need to get about 4 more in order to be able to afford a new tavlet, so that I may continue my painting work.
This tweet will be the best resource for examples (NSFW): https://twitter.com/Na7urallyCanine.....37934650789890
Also this one(SFW): https://twitter.com/Na7urallyCanine.....63898101366784
So yeah! If you've ever wanted something a lot cheaper, just to see your character drawn out, now is the time! They're only 30 bucks, so please consider getting one, or even recommending a friend! I really want to get back to working on paintings ASAP, so any support or signal boosting whatsoever would be immensely appreciated.
Thank you so much, and please have a cool day!

Post-MFF + State of Commissions
Posted 9 years agoHey everyone!
I just wanted to make a quick update on the status of things. MFF was a blast. I got to connect with so many people whose work I love, and even meet some new faces who were amazing and kind! I was really skeptical of going to a furcon just for fun, but I ultimately had a wonderful time, and I'm super glad I did it! I drew a lot while on the con floor, and just had an overall great time experiencing it all!
As far as commissions go, it saddens me to say that my day job has me working 8 shifts a week, and that will likely continue through the end of December. This may not seem like a ton, but it's very hard to get anything done at all with such little free time. I could ramble on about how irked I am that I'm not getting to paint anywhere near as much as I would like to be, but instead I'll just suck it up and pray that the end of the month comes fast. What this means for commissions is that progress will be very slow. I have one big thing I'm working on that has a stiff deadline, and then after that, I have another painting to finish, and will be working intermittently on the remaining 4 flat coloured coms when I find the time to. Like I said, once we see January, this nightmare will be over, and it will be back to business as usual of spending all day working on getting things done. But until then, please be patient with me ;;
Thank you all for always being so supportive and understanding, even when I'm slow with things. How are you? Is the season treating you well? It's been incredibly cold here, even for Colorado. Wherever you are, I hope you're making the best of it!
Also what the heck, may as well shamelessly inject my patreon in here. If you feel like sending some support my way so I can get closer to ditching my dumb day job to paint silly animal people all day, it would certainly mean a lot to me. https://www.patreon.com/SpectrumShift?ty=h
Anyways, hope everyone is doing well. Thank you again for being so patient with me. Take care out there!

PrettygreenscalesArt Updates, RMFC 2016, and looking for a lost Commissioner
Posted 9 years agoHello!
I've been wanting to make a quick journal update just to let you all know what's going on and about RMFC for a while now.
Not a ton of art-work has been getting done this month pretty much exclusively due tot he fact that RMFC happened. It was a wonderful event that I had a total blast at! I got to meet some lovely people and some folks who enjoy my work, and that was really encouraging and delightful. But I spent so much time preparing for the con, being at the con, and hanging out with friends I never get to see after the con, that I'm a little bit behind now! I'm starting to catch up, but that's been the cause of not having a lot to post this month so far. I do plan to post something almost every day throughout the rest of this week, so keep your eyes peeled for that. I did a lot of shorter, more practice-y things to make up for the lack of completed pieces. So yeah, hopefully I will get to see more of you there next year!
Although, now I must ask for your assistance!
At the convention, someone commissioned me for a post-apocalyptic painting of a snowy city. They had two characters for the scene, a male with an orange spiked mohawk, and a female with swoopy purple/pink hair. Unfortunately, I neglected to take down their contact information (real pro), so the only way I can think of to find them is to reach out via journal! If this is you, or you know someone with characters like this, please send me a note! As I finish more things, that piece gets closer in my queue, and I need to know who to correspond with! Thanks for assisting me in my moment of stupidity!
Other than all of that, though, life is going pretty well! I'm getting back into the groove of things, and I've been able to pay for some things I need (laptop cooling stand, food, tea, yes tea is a necessity omg necessitea. That's dumb). Still practicin', need to get outside and paint more (also been too busy for that sadly), but things are def regaining regular momentum, so that's relieving.
How have all of you been? Hopefully well. Thanks again for helping me find this person. Anyways, until next time, be well!

Posted 9 years agoJust wanted to make a quick notice that I am open to taking on new commissions of any kind, via notes or email. Im working on the last painting from the previous batch of slots, but if anyone is interested, feel free to send me a message so we can discuss what you want.
There are no specific type of artwork slots or anything right now; just figured Id let people know that Im open to commission proposals despite not having any "slots". I only want to do slots for specific types of things at one (i.e. painting slots or sketch slots, etc.)
Anyways, thanks and take care

Sketch Commissions!
Posted 9 years agoHey everyone! I'm opening 5 slots for sketch commissions! The theme is paw-related, so anything showing off your character's nice feets or related to that is fair game! The only restriction is that there isn't anything gross or violent (NO dirty or crushy things! Adult content is fair game) The sketches will be done traditionally in graphite, and will probably look something like this http://www.furaffinity.net/view/19808109/.
Each slot is 35 USD, and will be completed ASAP. The first one or two should be done within 2 days, and so on. Simply comment, note, or e-mail me (spectshift(at)gmail.com) if you are interested! Thanks!Slots:

sylfvoresharpclaw (DONE)PIN-UP COMMISSIONS OPEN
Posted 9 years agoHey everybody.
So I thought it would be a cute idea to draw some characters in a candid pin-up style clothing advertisement.
The theme would be summer/beach attire, since the season is quickly approaching.
Each character will be done individually with a simple background, and then at the end I'll arrange all of the people who got one into a fitting background scene (Think like a dropcloth at an actual photoshoot)
STUFF YOU NEED TO KNOW
-an example of the type of drawing I'm talking about http://www.furaffinity.net/view/19186443/
-each slot costs 65 USD
-there are currently 5 slots available
-cleaned lines
-each coloured drawing will be done quicker than my usual painting style, but will still capture the light and shadow
-no matter how many end up selling, I will still arrange the finished ones into a group shot at the end
Just note me or comment here if you want one, and feel free to have your character doing something silly or fun! That's like all the enjoyment of a candid photoshoot!
Thank you!Thank You
Posted 10 years agoI don't really have much to say other than offering my sincere gratitude for the support of all of you. I don't like to make a big fuss over things like this, but I figured hitting a watcher milestone was the most appropriate time to just say simply...
Thank you.
Yes you.
For looking at my art. For wanting more. For sticking with me.
I love making art, and I would do it anyways, but being able to share it with people is really what makes it worthwhile to me, so it really does mean a lot that you all care enough to continue wanting more of it in your lives. So thank you very much, and I hope to keep bringing you things that make you feel happy, maybe even moved.
Take care out there. and be good!
What do you want to see from me?
Posted 10 years agoI have my own things I enjoy drawing and practicing, but I'm curious what all of you enjoy seeing the most.
Life's been pretty hectic lately, but there will be plenty of opportunities for new art in the very near future, so yay!
Also welcome to all the new watchers! Really grateful to see that people are enjoying my stuff. Thank you!
