Sparkbox's Law of Size
Posted 12 years ago"The larger you make something proportionally, the difficulty in getting it to look good increases exponentially."
I'm talking, boobs, butts, bellies and all that expansion jazz just to clarify.

Gen.6 Underway
Posted 12 years agoDue to a massive fundamental flaw I accidental built into the Gen.5 body (where the buttock ended on the leg) and my attempts to rectify or at least hide it I'm table flipping.
So the 6th body is going to be made up of as much of the 5th body as possible with the entire pelvis redone from scratch.
One sodding day...

Butts
Posted 12 years agoThink I know what to do now, it's going to mean remodelling but I can copypasta most of the Gen.5 body. Then FINALLY I may be able to start rigging and make some poses, I'd also be able to fine tune the weighting of the bones and make those symmetrical...
Lot of things I could do really.

Mesh body for Second Life
Posted 12 years agoIn said Second Life I'm broke and in need of monies so I'm going to experiment with rigging my pony body for the SL skeleton. Anyone interested in purchasing an overly bottom heavy MLP biped body?
Things I need to learn and do:
Posted 12 years ago + Rigging and weight painting
+ Inverse Kinematics
+ UV unwrapping and texturing
I think that once I know how to do these I'll be able to start making some pretty neat pictures... from behind.

I need reminding
Posted 12 years agoJust at random intervals in the future, drop something in my shoutbox along the lines of "USE VECTORS FOR LINEART MORON".
Colouring
's latest Rarity commision I figured the lines could do with a little cleaning up and I'm not one for just cranking the contrast up to 100, leaves everything too thick and you loose subtle details, so I went for re-doing all the lines cleanly in Paint.Net.
Couldn't have chosen a busier picture to do this with and I've sunk maybe six, probably five, hours into it and I've yet to finish all the ripped clothing, let along Sweetie Belle or even make a start of the colouring!
Thing is Paint.Net doesn't have a vector based lineart tool so once a line is created all that's left are pixels and the picture's 3450 x 2440, at the moment I'm at nine layers and the file size is just exploding.
Chugging aside I'm going to get this picture done eventually, there's a few bits that aren't particularly clear but aside from figuring out if the furthest layer of Rarity's boob is entirely nipple it's just plain sailing for me. Just a very long cruise...

Test livestream worked, Gen.3 didn't. Planning Gen.4.
Posted 12 years agoSo I didn't have any viewers but my laptop was able to happily able to handle everything for an hour with no fuss.
As for my 3rd prototype for Rarity I just couldn't get the pelvis/crotch/butt to come out nicely, it doesn't help that I've got next to no reference material or examples but ho hum. At any rate I'm changing my modelling techniques to make it hopefully that much easier, the way I was trying before was very difficult to make the butt neat AND expandable.

Who'd like to see me try to Livestream?
Posted 12 years agoIn the name of science, I experimented to see if my laptop could handle it along with me fiddling around in Blender and it seems to work smoothly enough. Note carefully the words 'seems' and 'enough', it was happy enough trundling along at 16 fps.
I'd be livestreaming myself working in Blender on the 3rd generation bipedal pony model, so rather than Anthroanim's BAMM TITTIES BUTT KINNECT it'd be more of a learning experience on working from scratch to the point of TITTIES. That and a little 8 bit music and me being myself... only with a microphone.
That and I work better when I've got an audience.
...
At least when I know what I'm doing.

Play hurts and 3D disruption
Posted 12 years agoAround 21 years and 51 hours ago I came into this world so on the 1st a select few and myself went Go Karting to celebrate!
Ouch, my everything...
Putting physical pain and soreness aside, I did some more work on the 3rd generation body and came to the conclusion that I did too many small things wrong at too many early stages. Found a butt ton of promising tutorials primarily to help with creating an entirely new body in such a way that it'll rig more than just nicely and, when I've completed the basic shape, will grow in the ways you're all watching me for.
For the experienced Blender users out there: Which is better for motion captured facial expressions; a lattice or lots of bones?

Softbody woes
Posted 12 years agoIn my last journal I said that I'd got the softbody stuff in a reasonable prototypical stage, the pillow sized breasts were being subjected to gravity and squished wonderfully (Even if they welded together...)
Well now it won't work at all. Absolutely no idea why but Blender won't run the softbody simulation with vertex groups like I was doing before. Only difference is that I've since added a simple UV grouping so that the body isn't covered in the head's texture.
Google's proving useless so I'll leave this here just in case someone who's well informed feeling generous.

Blender Physics: Cloth Simulation Problem
Posted 12 years agoZe problem: In order to cheat my way of out of even more work, I'm attempting to assign physics to ze boobies on my BadgerBenistic Rarity. (Mrk2 Body in the works, much cleaner mesh and topology) and to an extent it's worked. Ze boobies hang off her chest like they should in a way that would make Newton weep with joy.
Ze problem is that ze boobies are modelled clipping together so whenever I run the simulation they stay welded toegether. Bad.
So my question to you random people who stumble across this journal is: How might one make ze boobies semi permeable? Allowing mesh to escape them but not allow any inside, thus solving my welded cleavage crisis.
Off the top of my head I think shape keys might come in useful, start with small unclipping boobies then a couple of frames into the simulation grow to desired size. BUt that'll have to wait until after I've had sleep...
