I dont really consider that to be a bad thing! Trying to limit yourself to only making better and more complicated or "i n t e r e s t i n g" things in an upward progression seems like a great way to dieselgate yourself and or burn out.

So I'm sitting in the lobby of the sheraton dallas. Feeling teary eyed. It was a strange con. I had a very good time. But I can't help but feel like the age of furry conventions I fell in love with is waning. This con was much bigger than last year. I'm getting older and the next generation of furries isn't looking for the same things I was when I was their age. At least it doesn't seem like it outwardly. The "fandom" is so huge now. At least we are still by and large shameless enough that I can still be true to myself when I'm here, and it's really helped me learn how to do that outside of the con as well.

Emotional regulation is hard for me and as safe of a space cons are for me, I still struggle greatly to regulate my emotions here, partially because I experience such a broad range of them at a high amount while here.

I do wish we had a healthier relationship with our emotions, but I understand how broken we all are. Getting off twitter hasnt made me forget how broken the world is, It only keeps the discussion of it at arm's length.

As my meds are kicking in Im feeling better.

Having a bit of an ache knowing FWA wont happen for me this year, but maybe Ill manage to squeeze in a smaller driveable con like IFC or FM before the MFF.

I keep thinking about the nature of fursonas. How like, on one hand they can be overly superficial objects that we put more effort into obsessing over than our real physical selves.

But on the other paw, they are also reflections of ourselves in a very novel way, and even if someone thinks they are nothing like their fursona, because we create them and desire after them they are intrisically a part of us in a way totally different than like, a superhero fan wishing they were like captain america or wonder woman etc.

Dont get me wrong, there is plenty of shallow fan worship of ip in the fandom, but liking something is still more positive than getting lost in the doom of it all. Yknow?

I wish I could help people tune into their inner creatvity and make a version of themselves they want to idolize as much as they want to idolize the corporate media ip of the year.

And "I'm sorry I just dont have the creativity to make stuff" thing might not be as true as you want it to be. It might be hard and it might be uncomfortable and it might be awkward, but if youre a human with a brain, youre cerebral enough to be able to look inward and at least wonder "What kind of funny animal would I be?"

I know this is a lot from a random fetish artist but the furry comminity means so much to me, I feel an intense desire to make sure creativity lives on even as my ideals grow more out of date and the mainstream attitudes meander away from me.

Over all I had a very fun TFF and I hope to keep having fun. (If anyone has a an FWA room and needs a roommate I might be down!)

I had a dream last night that I just showed up to a college campus one day and just started sitting in on very obscure weird classes. Even though I didn't pay to be there or was even supposed to be there nobody seemed to care and it felt like I knew everybody there. Then somebody stole my car and I knew this because I suddenly got sucked out of the building and was being pulled along following the person who stole my car, and I was really stressed out because he was driving on the wrong side of the highway but there were literally no other cars. And then I woke up.

I dont know what this means but i think im realizing i stopped having weird dreams when i was a stoner.

Yeah wow, not sure if I'll get a full con report out for fursquared, but it was fun, having a con downtown the city I live in is interesting. I think overall I had a great time, though, it's becoming increasingly harder to find things to do at that con when I'm not young and parasocial or way into the drinking like I used to be, though it's all for the better, yknow?

Am mostly excited for TFF in a couple weeks!!! Getting all my money out of my pockets for cons this time of year so I can be broke during the spring, and then spend too much money going to Road America in the summer probably.

Ive been going since 2015, and as a person who is slowly learning good coping skills, i can say confidently even by most furcon standards not many outmatch fursquared for sheer bad coping skills per capita other than probably mff just on a sheer mass basis.

Im trying my damndest to stop smoking so much weed so going into this con is a bit scary for me, but Im excited to see the new venue!

So, a bit of a peek under the hood of my life, my apartment's water is f i n e, but I prefer filtered water, so I have a Britta Pitcher of Wellness.

It has been helping me practice mindfulness. You see, if the pitcher is empty, I take it as a sign that I am starting to fall behind on self care tasks, for all I need to do to keep the pitcher filled is fill it when I use it. But you see it also requires an empty sink, so if I have fallen behind on dishes, a clear indicator of "Hey, slow down, tend to your needs bud!", the lack of filtered water reminds myself to make efforts to Straighten That Shit Out.

Because hydration is the key to learning cheif.

Having ADHD and living alone is about structuring your life around a bunch of really weird checks and balances in order to maintain a minimum baseline of executive functioning, or being perscribed a concerning amount of amphetamines. (Lisdexamfetamine sucks, I miss vyvanse)
