Mold? In my carpet?
Posted 17 years agoApparently, it's more common than you'd think!
As many of you know, mine and
sonderjen's cat, Terra, has had asthma for almost a year. The other two cats go into little coughing fits of their own about once a month.
And now, since working from home, sonderjen's been feeling worse on his allergies.
And the diagonal downstairs neighbor told us, Oh, we used to live right under you, but there was mold on the walls so we were moved just next door.
!!!
Then I saw a Mystery Diagnosis show where this woman was chronically ill for almost a whole year - she had two kids and husband with no symptoms. Turns out, their entire shared wall with their neighbors was fucking INVESTED with mold, and she was just the most sensitive.
So, I'm thinking... asthma.. terra... jon... mold...terra?... jon... me not sick... neighbors... mold.
OMG WUT IF WE HAVE MOLD.
So I called the manager of the apartments - she got back to us today and said that to even do a mold sweep, whether it's positive or negative, we needed to move out. SIGH
So, in the interest of HOPE, we're packing everything up (AFTER WE FINALLY FUCKING GOT IT THE WAY WE WANTED IT) and moving two apartments over. Luckily, big strong men are going to help us. Better fucking help.
Anyways, moving happens on Monday - packing is happening now.

BEGIN THE BUTTERFACE CONTEST!!!!!
Posted 18 years agoAlright, a Butterface Contest!
For those who don't know, and a reminder for those who do, "Everything's good, but 'er face," refers to a female with less than desirable facial features, though she might have a smokin' body. Hence, 'Butterface.' The creatures I've create have surpassed this unfortunate condition, into the realm of inherit and accidental deformity, disease, and retardation. 'Butterface' is now just a kind nick-name.
((Look through my gallery to see the evolution of Butterfaces!))
The responses I've received on these images have been absolutely encouraging, and I have a ball reinvisioning familiar faces.
But I think it's time to pass the torch, or at least spread the bug, and invite YOU to share your own 'Butterface' creation, in the form of a friendly contest!
~~
The prizes for winning such a contest will be original artwork by myself! Details are as follows:
1st Place: A fully rendered illustration of your original Butterface creation, or of your original character! This image will be at least 9" x 12"
2st place: A fully rendered illustration of your original Butterface creation, or of your original character! This image will be at least 8" x 10"
3rd place: A simple bust illustration of your original Butterface creation, or of your original character! This image will be at least 5" x 8"
Runner ups!: A simple illustration of my choosing!
Now, another element of prize winning has to do with the number of valid submissions there are (and you may enter as many times as you like!): if this proves to be an awesomely competitive contest, the dimensions of the winning prizes will increase significantly, and the options of media will also expand! The available slots for winners and runner ups could increase, so it's in your best interest to SPREAD THE WORD!
~~
'How do I play?!' is what you should be asking, so here's the rules:
Entry file: Visual entries may be in the form of a clean scan or clear photograph, and a manageable size! jpg, gif, png, are accepted.
Typed entries (YES, I will be accepting short stories for this contest!!) may be pdf, doc, etc, whatever file type you choose must maintain your written format (I won't read entries that are one giant paragraph! My eyes can't take it!)
Craft: Clean your fuzzies, touch up your files, spell check and proof read. Duh.
Concept and Technique: Originality, execution, and artistic merit will be the elements most heavily judged. Use your noodles to come up with something brilliantly grotesque! Your goal is to make me go, "WTF!?!?!" and then laugh my ass off! Or give me nightmares! Make me remember your entry!
Reveal how your Butterface came to be that way, illustrate him in his natural surroundings, or simply showcase his monstrosity! Be creative in your approach, and keep pushing the envelope!
EDIT::AS OF NOW, DEADLINE IS OCTOBER 20TH!!!! LINK YOUR ENTRIES TO THIS JOURNAL!!!! GOGOGOGO!!!

Name that kitten!!
Posted 18 years agoOkay, finally back from vacation, and reading "...Deathly Hallows" - I knew it would be oh too dangerous to participate in intarnets until I'd finished that.
We just got a new KITTEN!!!!!11 He's tiny and orange with white half-socks.
The poor thing needs a name because sonderjen won't accept any of the names I've picked out.
SO, help think of NAMES FOR TINY SPUNKY ORANGE KITTEN =D
EDIT: Okay, his name is now 'Fry', in a nod to Burger, and for love of Futurama.
