Iceman aka Da Derpy Dwaggon and 
TigerBlack aka HE'S TOO COOL FOR MY SHOW! I have NO video of either interview (*SADFACE!*), but I could use photos instead so I can post the audio to YouTube in their entirety.

FURRY FEMME SHOOTWhen: Friday 15th from 9pm - ???
Where: Convention Center Third Floor - Opposite end of the hallway from "Spirit of Pittsburgh" Ballroom.
Who: All Female-Character Fursuits are welcome to participate in the shoot, along with their assistants / handlers, of course.
I will be burning CD's of the shoot for all the participants, so please find me before you leave A.C.!
Additional photographers / videographers are welcome to take photos / video also, however, this is an unsanctioned event - meaning "My Shoot, My Rules" for everyone. Even though I do not charge in any way for this shoot, I still treat it with the highest of professionalism regarding the people and equipment involved. With that in mind, please be sure you understand the following conditions.
1) The point is to have FUN and to give the Furry Femmes a little something SPECIAL to remember the con with.
2) The safety and well being of the suiters is PARAMOUNT at all times. If a suiter needs a break, or a drink, or air, and asks you to help with that, by being at the shoot you WILL help that person. (No one likes calling 911 to a FurCon.)
3) There will be some fairly expensive photography equipment in use. Be mindful of where those items are at all times. Gravity is a bad way to turn off a photo lamp.
4) A certain manner of decorum will be expected of everyone. (Meaning, don't be a creep!) If the ladies don't feel comfortable with a pose or for you specifically, for ANY reason, let it go and just enjoy taking other shots.
And, most importantly....
5) I am the primary photographer - so I will be making the most suggestions on poses or positioning equipment.... as I get my shots, you will be welcome to get some as well yourselves... AND feel free to make suggestions as we go along. Who knows? I might like what you think of.
PRIVATE PHOTO SHOOTSSince I will be bringing ALL my photo equipment, I will be available for 'Personal' photo shoots Saturday or Sunday. Starting Friday the 25th at 6pm SLT, ShujinTribble Kawanishi will be hosting a 36 hour fund raiser drive in Second Life for 'The Ride For Roswell' to benefit the Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, NY.
Shujin lost his wife to a rare form of cancer (Angiosarcoma) in 2005 and has participated with The Ride each year since, moving his campaign exclusively to Second Life at The Feline Conspiracy for the last three years, raising over $5,000 so far for cancer research and patient care.

On the topic of 'Easter' (Atheistic Perspective)
Posted 13 years agoFair Warning - Christians (Yes, Catholics are in this collection too) might not want to read the following, though they are the ones most in need of hearing this. I made sure to wait a respectful week before posting this so that no one can accuse me of inciting a fight on the most holy of Christian Celebrations; Easter Sunday.
If you were told that everything 'bad' in the world would be cleaned up, wiped away, never to befall Earth and Mankind again if only you would volunteer to be killed in the most brutal way possible, and that this was a 100% iron-clad guarantee, I know many of us would have a hard time agreeing to it, but I'm sure some would go for it 'for the good of mankind'.
But! What if it was changed around - Yes, you would be killed in heinous agony, but three days after you died you would be alive again with the powers of all creation at your command? Just as 100% iron-clad. I'm sure it would be FAR easier to say, "SIGN ME UP! A few hours of pain, sleep off a weekend then I'm reborn as a god? AND the world is a better place for it? SWEET!"
This is a sacrifice HOW, exactly?
Or is it that your god required a human sacrifice to allow a loophole in his rules for his creations, when he could have just never written the rules that the loophole was needed for in the first place.
BETTER YET! How about Jesus never died? If there was a 2,000+ year old man still alive today, would that not be FAR more miraculous? Someone that can never die and has knowledge of all the Universe would be FAR more likely to be someone I could see as POSSIBLY being a god!
And you wonder WHY Atheists are frustrated with people who believe the grotesque horror story that is "Good Friday / Easter Sunday / Jesus' Sacrifice" is true?
I can see its horrid and abysmal behaviour; why don't you?
I wish you the Peace I no longer have,
I wish you the Strength that I've learned,
I wish you all Well!

Furnal Equinox... one more day...
Posted 13 years agoBeen having fun.... and spending VERY little money this year, oddly enough. Got to see / talk to DC Rabbit, Furball, Max BlackRabbit, not-Max aka gNaw, Style Wager, Soba, Babs / Lilifox / Cheeto, Heather Bruton, Dark Natasha, Kanthara,Sandy Schriber, Sprocket, Wizzy, DarkDucky64, Arc, Rithy, Cobalt, Tachyon.... GEEZE, just so many great folks! And I didn't name nearly HALF the folks!
The Wed-Night 80's bash recording was GREAT! I ended up being background music for the parade... playing various Marches - and LOTS of folks said, That was SO much better than not having any sound! So, WooHoo! Maybe I found a niche I can work in!
Right now, VERY few photos and no art besides badges - more on those later....
Soon, one last stop at Harvey's before home.
...oh, and the MLP Panel in the AM. 8-)

I will be busy with stuff... including a Panel on Friday from 5 - 6pm on being an Online DJ / Podcaster, Saturday from 1 - 5pm recording the Wed-Night 80's Bash.. and leaving Sunday around... well, don't really know, yet. 7pm ish?

VERY long Facebook debate (Atheism)

I wanted to bring it here for you all to look through, thinking about, an maybe point out where I made mistakes to help me.... basically I'm looking for Red Line people. Please know ahead of time that I will appreciate any compliments, but it's not what I'm looking for.

I throw down the gauntlet at the feet of ALL mythologies, XXXX. Every single one of them that made claims with ZERO evidence to back it up. I was taught, from birth, that Roman Catholicism was 100% True only to find out my nagging doubts about the validity were not only warranted but legitimate. The NY / PA / DC attacks in 2001 are only a stark example of what belief without evidence can do. As to the "Chip on my Shoulder", where is your condemnation of the many "God Wants You To Know" messages? Or the ridicule of the Creationism Museum? I am not challenging the people. I challenge The-Man-Behind-The-Curtain to come out and show itself as being real.
I was taught Catholicism was 100% true as well, researched it and found many things that didn't jive ... so I left. As for broadly blaming 911 on "zealots" and "believers"... I know its proven expedient for a lot of folks to phrase it that way, but we all know why you do so, ask yourself honestly... would you have seen it as a silver lining if the perpetrators were Christians? Took me a while to understand where you thought I was attacking 'someone' / you... and I see what happened - I didn't include specific parts to my comments before, causing you not to get what I intended. For that, I apologize; never meant to mean I was bad mouthing you or any individual at all. Let me clarify now.... (the 'Your Condemnation' comment) It was meant as, "Do you believe that both are useless or worthwhile?" I find them both laughable at best and deserving of mockery.... so I mock. I took the whole week to study what you said, what your points were, so I could make sure that this time when I typed out what I had to say that I would be clear, unambiguous and without room for misinterpretation or sounding petty. Now, with that, let me open with this - you turned an affirmational statement into a personal attack on yourself and responded as such. And before you say I'm wrong, at what point did I single you, or any specific person, out to begin with? Not once, and you can clearly see that. The stories of The God Of The Bible (TGOTB), specifically of Creation (of The universe, Hell included), are well known, even to those who are not Christan, and like I said before, "Roman Catholicism" (RC) is a Christian sect; following the teachings of "Jesus Christ". Your first remarks to me were what stuck with me the most. I wasn't able to figure out why for a few days, but it finally clicked for me. You said that you, "...researched it (Roman Catholicism) and found many things that didn't jive ... so I left." What finally caught my attention was not what you said, but what you left out; specifically WHAT you discovered that didn't "jive". So I decided to see what religious affiliation you claimed, if any, in your bio.... only to discover, very surprisingly to me, that you have traded out of RC and, after what ever steps, settled on Southern Baptist (SB)... which is, itself, yet another Christian sect, using the same texts for it's laws and teachings... and yes, I know, each sect has a slightly reworked version of whatever tome was in vogue at the time, but for arguments sake let's just call a 95% similarity, 'Close Enough For Rough Approximation'. I'm now curious - RC did not jive for you upon (I'm assuming) reasonable critical examination, but SB has. Which, I would take to mean, that something in the SB faith withstood the same critical examination and answered, far and away, all of the questions you had about the Christian Bible. And yet, both use nearly identical texts, meaning the best you could have gotten, assuming RC version of The Bible would be only 5% different, a 5% difference in answers. And I know, there's no REAL way to quantify these things, but even if we change it to 10% or even 15% difference from one Bible to another, regardless of the reason, that's STILL a very small change. So the fact that you examined your Christianity, found it lacking, and switched from RC to SB makes me really wonder why, when I affirmed my position (that I am better than TGOTB) based on a critical review of the Christian Creation Story and what is known of the purpose of Hell, that I found MY morality infinitely better, based on the story-taught-as-fact that Hell is an infinite punishment and that Humanity are the children of TGOTB. You took it as a personal affront, judging by the tone you used, as well as by tipping Godwin's Law by the VERY thinly veiled reference to the 'Hitler / Mao / Stalin / Pol Pot = Atheism = Evil' argument.... which has been debunked more times than I care to count. You can look it up for yourself starting with 'Mein Kampf' (Vol. 1 Chapter 2) where he writes, "I believe today that my conduct is in accordance with the will of the Almighty Creator." Words and sentiment no Atheist would ever use. (And to be clear, FDR, who ordered the first, and ONLY use, of Atomic Weapons in Human history so far was.... Episcopal, another sect of Christianity.) My examination of religion has taken me to an inexorable conclusion; NOT that I am Antitheist (stating that there are no gods), but that I am ATHEIST, stating that there is and has been INSUFFICIENT EVIDENCE to support the claim that TGOTB is real.... And with THAT conclusion, that all Christian sects, as well as Judaism and Islam, since they all stem from the same 'base code', so to speak, are the product of not just faulty, but ZERO foundation. IF I am correct, and, naturally that is a large 'if', then you and your Biblical teachings, your new faith with it's new answers, would be able to show me, clearly, with overwhelming evidence and reproducible objective examination, where I've gone wrong and, more importantly, how your new faith is DEMONSTERABLY CORRECT. I took a LONG time to think about this and a long time to write this. Please, by all means take all the time you like to understand all my points if you'd like to rebut anything. SSSS, you've covered quite a lot of ground here, so lemme do my best to clarify as much as I can for you
1. The calling me "XXXX" thing happens all the time, dont sweat it - I just like to have a bit of fun with it.
2. My disagreement with the teachings of the Roman Catholic church is something that simply cannot be boiled down to shares and percentages, it has to do with their teachings that have strayed from the Bible (for many reasons be it a result of compromise or for self-serving purposes) which results in a tainted gospel and putting a man made creation, a church as the be-all, end-all gatekeeper of salvation.
3. And yes, I am a member of a Southern Baptist church - when looking for a church when I moved to where I live currently, I went to a few churches... liked this church for many reasons, joined and was baptized there - the denomination isnt as important as sound biblical teaching (although often its a decent indicator).
4. The Godwin's Law argument is insincere does not fly one bit. If memory serves, I brought it up SPECIFICALLY to illustrate how UNFAIR it would be for me to compare you to these others.

Bothered? Hardly. Read back to point one. I use these exchanges to give my brain a workout, to strengthen it. But that, too, is NOT the salient point. And I'm going to give you My Word that I will not suddenly call this discussion and debate 'Closed' until its completed it's run. Even without Darwin's book, THIS DISCOVERY of Human Chromosome 2 is not only well documented and researched, it is one of the biggest nails in the coffin for any detracting opinions of Evolutionary Theory and one of the hardest to attempt to disprove.

If my assertion that The Bible has no proof is "patently FALSE" as you say, and if YOU YOURSELF do not have the proof that TGOTB or the events of The Bible are real, then tell me WHO does and WHERE it is. Where can I, or ANYONE else, find it and examine it? Stop dancing in generalities and give me, finally, something concrete. Some nail that we can hang the assertions of The Bible on that we can clearly examine and find out, with a collection of evidence, which is accurate and real. Telling me that your proof is (paraphrasing) 'in the teachings of the Bible itself, and you live your life to show everyone how good the Bible is' brings us back to "Circular Reasoning"; Something is true because it said it is, ie, "The Bible is true and I'm going to show you because the Bible said its true". To use a quote from The Matrix, "STOP trying to hit me and HIT ME!"

You know what? Let's just dive right into that then, shall we? My original statement that got all this rolling was this: I AM A BETTER PERSON THAN ANY GOD-MYTH WHICH INCLUDES A HELL. And to prove that, we're going all the way back to the very beginning, before The Fall Of Man, the very first showing of what and who TGOTB is.
According to the VERY FIRST accountings of The Biblical Creation, TGOTB created EVERYTHING. It is also generally accepted that TGOTB also has the properties of KNOWING EVERYTHING, is ALL POWERFUL, inhabits all places of Creation meaning OMIPRESANCE, is ALL MERCIFUL and All JUST. For now, I'll grant ALL of that, as well as the Creation itself, and accept it all 100% for this example. This means that, according to the story as generally accepted, Heaven, the Universe, the Earth, the Tree of Knowledge, the animals and Humanity are ALL his creation. Creations of a Perfect Being should be perfect as well, since the ability to make a mistake is impossible for a Perfect Being.
This means that Satan is TGOTB's creation as well, as is Hell, as are the rules for who goes to Hell. Since TGOTB created EVERYTHING, this is not an unreasonable postulate. Matter of fact, to suggest otherwise would fly in the face of the idea that TGOTB created everything. After all, Satan did not create himself. That is simply NOT possible, since TGOTB created everything.
This now means that TGOTB placed Satan, a god-like creation of his own, the Master of Evil and Lies and Deception, into the Garden of Eden, ENCOURAGING AND EXPECTING Satan to be in contact with the first humans - innocent minds who would have no knowledge of what a lie or deception is. How do I justify claiming 'encouragement' and 'expectation'? Simply put, if TGOTB has the property of KNOWING ALL, as stated before, we have to then believe that TGOTB knew that Satan was going to be in contact with The First Humans, as well as the final outcome of that encounter. Even if TGOTB could not see into the future, making no sense due to the ALL KNOWING property, then surely he would have known about it AS IT WAS HAPPENING due to OMNIPRESANCE.
Now, we know the rest of the story; Snake / Satan tempts Eve, Eve tempts Adam, Adam is questioned by TGOTB as to what happened. Why question Adam if TGOTB knows everything? IF TGOTB really does know EVERYTHING, then this is simply The Creator harassing his creations for a failure to understand how to deal with temptation, lies and deceptions. WHICH MEANS Man was found guilty of succumbing to the wiles of The God-like Master Of Lies even though there was NO teaching on how to prevent this from happening. For being tricked by The Master Trickster, Man was found to be 'a Flawed Creation' and kicked out of TGOTB's house / Garden of Eden. The ONLY way for Man to be a 'Flawed Creation', if Man WAS crafted by a Perfect Being, would be by design, because a perfect being would be unable to make a mistake. Therefore Man was 'flawed' BY DESIGN.
If we accept the story of creation as TRUE, then this proves CLEARLY that TGOTB is not a Just and Merciful god who Knows All and Sees All who is All Powerful. This shows him to instead be petty (I created you just so I could punish you!), sadistic (I know you failed! I made you broken and set it up so you WOULD fail and I could punish you!) and psychotic (You failed in the face of The God of Lies! So what if I made this event happen?!).

Children are naturally curious and innocent creatures. They want to learn and explore. We do NOT punish them for it, we HELP them! We teach them all we can about the world. Some of us even go a step further and teach our progeny how to learn for themselves, how to question everything; teaching them the power of the question, "Why?" WHY would a god do that to it's creation, it's children? Would any parent do that to their children? If their children are tricked into doing something wrong, we correct them, we teach them how to better understand what happened, WHY it happened, and how to not let it happen again. We do not throw them out of our house or STONE them! And before you claim innocence on THAT one, RE-read Deuteronomy 21:18-21, the part about stoning to death children who are, quote, "stubborn and rebellious". And if you want to claim I'm taking this 'Out Of Context', then you better be prepared to tell me in what context it IS meant, because that sure looks a LOT like a direct and clear order for parents to me.
You've gone this WHOLE exchange claiming I'm wrong, yet without a singe direct statement showing how and where I'm wrong that stands up to truthful critical examination. More importantly, you've admitted to having a lack of tangible evidence showing you are right. EVERY point I took on, I've given you exacting points to show how your arguments, undoubtedly what you've been taught all these years, are without any critical merit whatsoever. You started this all off telling me I was wrong to claim I was better than your god-myth, that I was painting Christians with a brush of ignorance and pop-culture inspired bashing... and you were WRONG. The two of you have given me much to ponder. All i would like to add is that our limited knowledge really dosent allow for any concrete answers on this subject. We can make claims the we can or cannot provide evidence to back up our beliefs yet what we know of the universe is worth less than a grain of sand in a universe with infinate beaches. Personally i am content knowing i cannot answer question of evolution or creationism without relying on faith if i had the answers i wouldnt be wasting my time on FB. Unfortunately, YYYY, that's not accurate at all. FAITH dictates that one does not need to investigate further than what is already known, where SCIENCE's entire purpose is to learn everything that can be learned through incremental stages. The "concrete answers" are born out by the facts; each can be thought of as a brick that either crumbles under it's own weight, the weight of other bricks around it, or holds firm even under the heaviest of burdens. But steadily the facts accumulate, building a mosaic of answers to the question of, "Why is the Universe?" As to the "question of evolution or creationism", this is an incorrect question to begin with; EVOLUTION describes how genetic traits are passed from one generation to the next where CREATIONISM claims that The Universe was 'built' by a god. Neither has anything to do with the other. If you'd like to, instead, question the validity of the Big Bang vs a god-inspired creation event, that would be a valid discussion. Or even questioning the rationale for the diversity of life, either created-as-is or evolved over generations. Those discussions I would enjoy. I, for one, am not satisfied with being told, "You may not question this because God Did It." After all, if that were the case and everyone followed that, what would you think now? That Thor's Hammer, Mjolnir, was the reason for lightning bolts from the sky. But, of course, even the Norwegians don't believe that any more, do they?

I will admit, taking the time to be prepared does help a great deal, especially considering the shape my brain has been in, but that's only a fraction of it all. The biggest part is to intentionally and systematically follow a direct chain, link after link, made up of positively identified supporting points while discarding things that are not. Evidence is THE most important part in all this. Without supporting evidence all someone has is speculation and guesswork. That's why ancient mythologies explaining thunder and lightning (Thor & Zeus), the sun travelling across the sky (pulled by Apollo's Chariot or Ra's Barge) or even rainbows (a promise from TGOTB to Mankind that he would never destroy the world by water / flooding again) have all fallen by the wayside; observations, experimentation, discovery, peer review and repeat. Critical review and examination wasn't something we were taught, best of my knowledge, at WBHS. Looking back, now, I WISH there had been a Critical Thinking and Debate elective available. I've had to teach myself how to do this. And BELIEVE me, getting sidetracked is ALL too easy! As for Dr. Oppenheimer; he MAY have been a theist and prayed. I can't find any references saying what his belief was other than his parents having been Jewish. He used scientific principles, methodology and tools to discover how and why The Universe operates, from the unimaginably small to the crushingly massive; not a Bible or Torah. As for me i am a born skeptic i want proof of things l learn. Yet that conflicts with my belief in divinity. Your first remarks to me were what stuck with me the most. I wasn't able to figure out why for a few days, but it finally clicked for me. And yet, both use nearly identical texts, meaning the best you could have gotten, assuming RC version of The Bible would be only 5% different, a 5% difference in answers. And I know, there's no REAL way to quantify these things, but even if we change it to 10% or even 15% difference from one Bible to another, regardless of the reason, that's STILL a very small change. So the fact that you examined your Christianity, found it lacking, and switched from RC to SB makes me really wonder why, when I affirmed my position (that I am better than TGOTB) based on a critical review of the Christian Creation Story and what is known of the purpose of Hell, that I found MY morality infinitely better, based on the story-taught-as-fact that Hell is an infinite punishment and that Humanity are the children of TGOTB. You took it as a personal affront, judging by the tone you used, as well as by tipping Godwin's Law by the VERY thinly veiled reference to the 'Hitler / Mao / Stalin / Pol Pot = Atheism = Evil' argument.... which has been debunked more times than I care to count. My disagreement with the teachings of the Roman Catholic church is something that simply cannot be boiled down to shares and percentages, it has to do with their teachings that have strayed from the Bible (for many reasons be it a result of compromise or for self-serving purposes) which results in a tainted gospel and putting a man made creation, a church as the be-all, end-all gatekeeper of salvation.

And yes, I am a member of a Southern Baptist church - when looking for a church when I moved to where I live currently, I went to a few churches... liked this church for many reasons, joined and was baptized there - the denomination isnt as important as sound biblical teaching (although often its a decent indicator).

Upon the sequencing and decoding of these it was discovered that Human Chromosome 2 was, originally, TWO SEPERATE chromosomes, as found in chimpanzees as well as gorilla and orangutan. The structure of Human Chromosome 2 is such that it's termination markers for each end-cap of the chromosome ARE found on the ends, as it should be, but ALSO a back-to-back pair of end-code-caps exist RIGHT IN THE CENTER, showing CLEARLY that what was once two separate pieces of genetic material fused into one somewhere back in history, causing the first proto-humans to come into being. That is NOT something Darwin and his contemporaries had ANY concept about. Additionally the Human Genome Project did not begin until 1990 - therefore discovery of this crucial information would not have even been possible until at least this point. Even without Darwin's book, THIS DISCOVERY of Human Chromosome 2 is not only well documented and researched, it is one of the biggest nails in the coffin for any detracting opinions of Evolutionary Theory and one of the hardest to attempt to disprove.

You know what? Let's just dive right into that then, shall we? My original statement that got all this rolling was this: I AM A BETTER PERSON THAN ANY GOD-MYTH WHICH INCLUDES A HELL. This means that Satan is TGOTB's creation as well, as is Hell, as are the rules for who goes to Hell. Since TGOTB created EVERYTHING, this is not an unreasonable postulate. Matter of fact, to suggest otherwise would fly in the face of the idea that TGOTB created everything. After all, Satan did not create himself. That is simply NOT possible, since TGOTB created everything.
This now means that TGOTB placed Satan, a god-like creation of his own, the Master of Evil and Lies and Deception, into the Garden of Eden, ENCOURAGING AND EXPECTING Satan to be in contact with the first humans - innocent minds who would have no knowledge of what a lie or deception is. How do I justify claiming 'encouragement' and 'expectation'? Simply put, if TGOTB has the property of KNOWING ALL, as stated before, we have to then believe that TGOTB knew that Satan was going to be in contact with The First Humans, as well as the final outcome of that encounter. Even if TGOTB could not see into the future, making no sense due to the ALL KNOWING property, then surely he would have known about it AS IT WAS HAPPENING due to OMNIPRESANCE.
Now, we know the rest of the story; Snake / Satan tempts Eve, Eve tempts Adam, Adam is questioned by TGOTB as to what happened. Why question Adam if TGOTB knows everything? IF TGOTB really does know EVERYTHING, then this is simply The Creator harassing his creations for a failure to understand how to deal with temptation, lies and deceptions. WHICH MEANS Man was found guilty of succumbing to the wiles of The God-like Master Of Lies even though there was NO teaching on how to prevent this from happening. For being tricked by The Master Trickster, Man was found to be 'a Flawed Creation' and kicked out of TGOTB's house / Garden of Eden. The ONLY way for Man to be a 'Flawed Creation', if Man WAS crafted by a Perfect Being, would be by design, because a perfect being would be unable to make a mistake. Therefore Man was 'flawed' BY DESIGN.
If we accept the story of creation as TRUE, then this proves CLEARLY that TGOTB is not a Just and Merciful god who Knows All and Sees All who is All Powerful. This shows him to instead be petty (I created you just so I could punish you!), sadistic (I know you failed! I made you broken and set it up so you WOULD fail and I could punish you!) and psychotic (You failed in the face of The God of Lies! So what if I made this event happen?!).

Children are naturally curious and innocent creatures. They want to learn and explore. We do NOT punish them for it, we HELP them! We teach them all we can about the world. Some of us even go a step further and teach our progeny how to learn for themselves, how to question everything; teaching them the power of the question, "Why?" WHY would a god do that to it's creation, it's children? Would any parent do that to their children? If their children are tricked into doing something wrong, we correct them, we teach them how to better understand what happened, WHY it happened, and how to not let it happen again. We do not throw them out of our house or STONE them! And before you claim innocence on THAT one, RE-read Deuteronomy 21:18-21, the part about stoning to death children who are, quote, "stubborn and rebellious". And if you want to claim I'm taking this 'Out Of Context', then you better be prepared to tell me in what context it IS meant, because that sure looks a LOT like a direct and clear order for parents to me.

The two of you have given me much to ponder. All i would like to add is that our limited knowledge really dosent allow for any concrete answers on this subject. We can make claims the we can or cannot provide evidence to back up our beliefs yet what we know of the universe is worth less than a grain of sand in a universe with infinate beaches. Personally i am content knowing i cannot answer question of evolution or creationism without relying on faith if i had the answers i wouldnt be wasting my time on FB. Unfortunately, YYYY, that's not accurate at all. FAITH dictates that one does not need to investigate further than what is already known, where SCIENCE's entire purpose is to learn everything that can be learned through incremental stages. The "concrete answers" are born out by the facts; each can be thought of as a brick that either crumbles under it's own weight, the weight of other bricks around it, or holds firm even under the heaviest of burdens. The first two, obviously, are summarily discarded, leaving a place-holder for a new brick that, again, may or may not survive. But steadily the facts accumulate, building a mosaic of answers to the question of, "Why is the Universe?" As to the "question of evolution or creationism", this is an incorrect question to begin with; EVOLUTION describes how genetic traits are passed from one generation to the next where CREATIONISM claims that The Universe was 'built' by a god. Neither has anything to do with the other. If you'd like to, instead, question the validity of the Big Bang vs a god-inspired creation event, that would be a valid discussion. Or even questioning the rationale for the diversity of life, either created-as-is or evolved over generations. Those discussions I would enjoy. I, for one, am not satisfied with being told, "You may not question this because God Did It." After all, if that were the case and everyone followed that, what would you think now? That Thor's Hammer, Mjolnir, was the reason for lightning bolts from the sky. But, of course, even the Norwegians don't believe that any more, do they?

I will admit, taking the time to be prepared does help a great deal, especially considering the shape my brain has been in, but that's only a fraction of it all. The biggest part is to intentionally and systematically follow a direct chain, link after link, made up of positively identified supporting points while discarding things that are not. Evidence is THE most important part in all this. Without supporting evidence all someone has is speculation and guesswork. That's why ancient mythologies explaining thunder and lightning (Thor & Zeus), the sun travelling across the sky (pulled by Apollo's Chariot or Ra's Barge) or even rainbows (a promise from TGOTB to Mankind that he would never destroy the world by water / flooding again) have all fallen by the wayside; observations, experimentation, discovery, peer review and repeat. Critical review and examination wasn't something we were taught, best of my knowledge, at WBHS. Looking back, now, I WISH there had been a Critical Thinking and Debate elective available. I've had to teach myself how to do this. And BELIEVE me, getting sidetracked is ALL too easy! As for Dr. Oppenheimer; he MAY have been a theist and prayed. I can't find any references saying what his belief was other than his parents having been Jewish. He used scientific principles, methodology and tools to discover how and why The Universe operates, from the unimaginably small to the crushingly massive; not a Bible or Torah. As for me i am a born skeptic i want proof of things l learn. Yet that conflicts with my belief in divinity. This being the case do i discard my beliefs because of lack of confirmation thru scientic methods .......no. Posted 14 years agoSo, yeaaahhhhh..... Every year I have to deal with this, just like with so many others. This year, for some reason, it's worse. Maybe it's the cleaning I've started to do - vowed to finish this time. Maybe it's the building up loneliness. Maybe it's middle age (at 39? (O_o) )....
Whatever the case, just know that, as always, I am here and i will do what I have always done; I will go on. Every day. Every hour.
Because, sometimes, Pure Survival is a noble enough goal.
Because, sometimes, just being alive is enough of an example.
Because, someday, the Pale Horseman will come for me, as he will for us all.
But... as I've said many times before, when that times, he's going to have to EARN my ass.
I wish you longer days and safe travels this holiday season.
