Thurs:
TinyTribble stepped off the school bus is is NOW, officially, a Third Grader! Who Knew?! So off we go to Sis-in-law's house so she can stay the weekend. At this point I was expecting to leave my house at about 7pm for the 4hr drive.
Merlot from The Feline Conspiracy called - her flight was screwed and could pick her up in Philly? (Buffalo -=> Philly -=> Pitts os a LOOOONG drive! TOO long.) Instead she was going to fly into Buffalo at about midnight....
TT left at S-i-L's... Merlot, after much wrangling, decides to just rent a car and drive... So I get home, finish last packing into the car, pick up the NOMS... and off I go to Pitts, only 2.5 hrs behind sched this time. (I'm getting better!)
Fri:
Did a little walking about in suit (more on that at the end)... Met up with the folks from TFC... gave samples of my fav wine plus the infamous CAKE.... headed off to one private photo shoot (and THANK you, You-Know-Who-You-Are!), did the Furry Femme Shoot (Location of those picks soon)....
Sat:
Got the photos from the FFS burned to CD's for everyone that was present for it during the parade - so wasn't in it, didn't see it.... (and wasn't really wanting to be suited up... again, more on this later.) **PLUS!** I got setup and did my Wed-Night 80's Show LIVE from inside the Zoo... with any luck I'll see about doing that again next year for A.C. instead of for TFC. (And for the record, Kage is a GREAT personality to work against Live!) Salvaged someone's STUFF (no details on who or what.. just know it was appreciated by them.) right after the show's recording.

Helped... 'someone'.. who had something to drink that they shouldn't have. Names and liquid are being withheld, but suffice it to say the individual is VERY happy to have a good friend in their corner.
Sun:

Now... about that suiting thing. There's only one way to word it and that's bluntly; I was assaulted while in suit. No, not beaten up or anything like that....
I'm pretty sure this was Friday early..... While walking around Artists' Alley SOMEONE THUMPED me on the top of the head... call it a heavy pat-pat-pat on the head. I paused from walking, figuring they'd walk around me and smile to let me know who they were. Hell, there's a couple people I could see doing that to me from TFC.... after about 3 seconds no one said anything.. so I turned around and looked at.... no one. NO ONE was there to accept responsability to touching me. (*Growl*) Everyone was just walking back and forth, minding their own business.
So little while later I go to the elevators to go up and change... I have to wait in line, no problem there... but someone (I have NO idea who it was now) coming off the elevators saw me, walked over to me and said, "Oh, LOOK!"....
..he PALMED my face through the fur. Like a basketball.
I growled at him, "Do Not!" His reply? "..or what?" and did it again.
THIS time I was FAR louder and forceful. "DO! NOT!"
"OH! Wow.. that's like his head or something...." and walked away, all the while looking at me while I was looking at him, GLOWERING at him.... FUMING mad!
Sadly there were no security to see this at the time and I KNOW if I had defended myself, physically, I very likely would have been ejected along with the no-class RUBE.
So, yeah.... I didn't re-suit the rest of the con because of that. Cyberhorn's said that once he gets HIS suit done, he'll be my spotter. After all, a Tribble guarded by a Dragon? Yeah....
On the one hand, I was, and still am, PISSED at these people for being BEYOND thoughtless... but on the other hand, like I'd mentioned to someone else... "WhooHoo!! I've MADE it as a suiter! I've been ASSAULTED!"
So, in a little while I'm going to open up the floodgates and ask for BrainStorm 2010 to consider a new 'suit' design for AC2011. There's been a few but I wanna get other ideas from more than just MY sleepy brain.
Thank you ALL for your time and reading.... I know I've forgotten a few folks and I'm sorry - a week later and I'm STILL not caught up on rest. (*Sigh*) BUT! TT and I are still looking forward to FurnalEquinox in March!

Dreams of flying. (Not what you think....)
Posted 15 years agoThere we are, Fujin and I, sitting in our airline seats; just gone through the pre-flight safety talk, holding hands, smiling, waiting to go on our trip... when we're all asked over the PA if anyone is supposed to get off this flight.
...I suddenly remember, because I'd seen it before, this flight is going to crash - we'll die in this plane, together, falling, unless we get off the plane. I see it, the whole event... people floating over their seats - screaming - wailing....
We NEED to get out, off this flight.... NOW.
I raise my hand, wave it.... get the flight attendant's attention and am acknowledged. I unbuckle from the seat and lean over to get Fujin from hers.
"Hun...", she says peacefully. "I can't go with you."
I blink and freeze, not able to understand what she's said for a moment.
"Fuj... this thing's going to crash; you - everyone in here is going to fall, float in the cabin, crash and die. I saw it already happen. Hun, please. C'mon."
...and right then, I remembered, she was already dead; long time on, though I couldn't remember how long. I held her hand and squeezed it, the way we always did - our own little signal.
"You can't go with me, Hun... I have to go." Never a sad look... just a quiet, unworried look.
I nodded, kissed her forehead and made my way up the walkway, between the rows of seats, knowing what was going to happen to this group, soon.
And even though I was sad to let her go, I knew, even in my dream, it was OK, because she was already gone; she wouldn't feel the fear. She wouldn't be in any pain....
....and she made sure I wasn't going to go through that either.
I just knew.

BONUS - my HD with my music... may have lost all my music on it. (*SIGH!*) We'll see what happens later when I get back from shopping.

Saturday, 22 May, marks another year since I lost my wife and soulmate... my other half.,... My Fujin. This year, it marked 5 years.
I talk about her often.... maybe too much, I don't know, and. to be frank, I don;t care. She's part of me, part of Tiny Tribble and the singular person I credit with helping me become the Man I am now.
Every year I make dinner for the nurses station back where she was at last (7 West), and deliver food to them. Because I know they tried... I know there was nothing anyone could do.
As always, I took time to remember her, honour her... and then looked up at the skies, to the star she was under when she left... and gave a nod to her.
Do I believe in an afterlife? Not exactly; I think that when we die, our.... essence, what makes us self-aware, is released as energy, allowed to dissolve into the Universe, allowing us to be everywhere and everywhen at that moment... time, then, has no meaning if you are everywhen, able to see the totality of existance. And maybe, just maybe, it's possible to nudge an event, minutely altering a mote of dust in the primordial past to make an event happen later.... like our own meeting in Sept of '88....
Is this all just hopeful mumbo-jumbo? Yeah... and I know it. But that doesn't change the fact that if there IS a way, if there is ANY way that we are still able to be there for our loved ones at the last, I know she'll be there, waiting, ready to smirk at me and say, "...never were on time, Shujin."
So... 5 years down.... 45 to go.

Furnal Equinox - Quick Report: HUGE SUCCESS!
Posted 15 years agoYes, Tiny Tribble and I DID get to go to Toronto's newest furcon Furnal Equinox... and we had a BLAST!
Met up with HORDES of people.... (SHADAAP you WoW people!) hordes of people for a first-time con; I don't know what the final attendance was, since we had to leave JUST before closing ceremonies.... but we had an official fursuit count of 37 in the parade - and if you go with the aprox 10% guideline, it means nearly 400 attendees at the con...
NOT BAD!

Posted 15 years agoBorn today, Feb 14th, 1894, is Benjamin Kubelsky's (aka Jack Benny's) Birthday... and I'm loving it!
Jack Benny; Star of Stage, Screen, Radio, Television and will even starch your wash at no additional charge this week, was, in my book, the most amazingly lovable performer and humanitarian of the mid-twentieth century.
Start off with his radio show, performed LIVE every week in front of a studio audience.... always a razor's edge away from someone ad libbing a line that might bust everyone up, or fall flat on it's face (usually with Jack commenting on just how bad that line was in rehearsals too).
Jack's first on-radio moment was in 1932 on his good friend Ed Sullivan's (You remember Ed, right?) radio show, saying, "This is Jack Benny talking. There will be a slight pause while you say, 'Who cares?'..."
Jack's own show started from 1932 to 1948 on NBC, then from 1949 until 1955 on CBS. For those of you keeping score that 22 years! He was so popular that even after that, CBS ran a BEST OF BENNY re-run show for two years afterwards! You can still find recordings of his show in various archives and on YouTube:

Most importantly to me was Jack's Love of humanity and his fellow man:
* When the group was out on the road and Rochester was told he couldn;t stay in the hotel with the rest of the crew because he was a black man, Jack told the staff that is Rochester didn;t stay, NONE of them would.... the hotel backed down.
* When Jack learned of the horrors that Nazi Germany, he made it a point to remove further racially insensitive portrails, especially for Rochester. No longer was Rochester a craps-playing womanizer calling Jack, "Boss", for instance.
* Contrary to his tight-fisted on-air personality, Jack was very willing to give to needy funds, saying that the more money he earned was the more money he had to give away to help people.
* Jack was never so stuck-up that he wanted to be perfect on-air... in fact he'd said, "I don't care who gets the laughs on my show, as long as the show is funny."
I could go on, and I will on Wed for my radio stream... but before I bid Jack's Birthday a Good Night, let me just touch one last thing that I adore about the man......
Benny's will arranged for flowers, specifically a single long-stemmed red rose, to be delivered to his widow, Mary Livingstone, every day for the rest of her life. Livingstone died nine years later on June 30, 1983. It took her months to find out where and why those roses were appearing - Jack never told her he had that set up.

1) THANK YOU to all you FAVers and Watchers! I'm sorry I haven't kept up with thanking folks in the last.. crap, TWO MONTHS? (*SIGH!*) I really Do appreciate you folks. HONEST! Just... been hard-pressed to keep up on a lot of stuff recently because....
2) As some of you long-time supporters know, I participate in a fund raiser called, The Ride For Roswell (R4R) to help the Roswell Park Cancer Institute (RPCI) here in Buffalo, NY. They correctly diagnosed my Fujin's cancer and treated her until she lost her fight 22 May, 2005... she was short of her 35th birthday by 3 months.
For the last two years the folks at The Feline Conspiracy (TFC) in Second Life have helped me by hosting a fundraising event as close to that anniversary (I hate that word for it) date - bringing roughly $650 USD each year to my team.
Well, this year, our head DJ's outdone any dreams I could have had! He's decided that what we can do is go Grid-Wide with this fund drive and has created a 2-prim Kiosk for the team... it will give info about the cause, how and where to donate on the R4R website for the team, accepting donations directly for the cause.... and all donations are reported at the kiosk as well as at http://www.AngioSarcoma.Org - and I have to thank Aaron for kicking my butt to restart ASO finally. Those kiosks are going on any land parsel where someone would like to host a box.. with all donations going strait to R4R after the finale.
On 21 May, we'll host our fundraiser's wrapup party... and anyone who wants to rebroadcast / restream the party on their own property can get a SECOND one-prim radio box that will change the property's media to the show then off again at the end - allowing anyone and everyone who had a hand in it all to enjoy the fun as we collect the last minute talleys and find out if I'm going to be a bald tribble at AnthroCon this year!
Oh, you didn't hear about that LAST year? Well..

Well, I finally heard a Dear 2 letter specifically asking about the size of The Wheel of Hate (a 'random' tool used to specify who they would pick on for that show). As it was told, The Wheel has something on the order of 34,000 items listed to stop on.
Well, I finally got a bug up my rump and decided to do MATH! And I'd like to see if anyone can vouch for my numbers and see how close I got on this.
Now, the equation for the circumferance of a circle is "pi * r2"... and assuming the selection points / area for this wheel will be 1inch wide....

19 years ago, I told a nervous college freshman she was in the right place for All College Band....
19 years ago, I was introduced to her as the roommate of a friend I had met the previous year at college....
19 years ago, I had no idea that I'd just met my Soulmate....
19 years ago, I never imaged that I'd be married....
...have a daughter...
...own a home...
....have to give the order to discontinue attempts to revive her once she lost conciousness.
In my mind, it wasn't the cancer that killed her, it was me. No matter how foolish that might seem, that's what I've always felt like. That's where my personal Hell stems from.
So now.... Today... I return to the place where we first met, with our daughter, to leave a dozen roses in the band room... same as I have for the last 4 years....

Three hours from now (2pm Eastern Time) would have marked... SHOULD have marked... my sixteenth wedding anniversary.
I remind you now, what I remind everyone at the end of my Wed-Night 80's shows...
Never Settle. Where Love is concerned, Never Settle. Capital-L "Love"; that storybook love, that fairy tale love, that Love that dreams are made of, that Soulmate and other-half Love is out there to be had.... I refuse to believe I'm the only lucky schmuck out there. Its incomprehensable to me that I should be the only one THAT lucky.....
You can survive ANYTHING if you have that Love; loss of job or illness or suffering... you can make it through it all because nothing else matters. You'll know that sooner or later, together, you WILL overcome whatever is thrown your way, by facing it together.
People have asked me, how do I know? What does it feel like? Is this it already? I can only tell you this: It will not be violins and bell peals nor fireworks and explosions of colour.... It will be, suddenly and so slowly you'll miss it happening, the most natural feeling of comfort and completeness you've never before experienced. Life will not suddenly become more alive for you, but you WILL see how things COULD be... how they can.. you'll tell people, "May you know HALF the Love I know", and not mean it in a patronizing way. You'll want for people to know what you know, to feel that you can do anything because the other will support you, no matter what it is... just to share the experience with you.
And never will you once fear what they might do to you.

People then ask, HOW?! How do I find them? You don't. And you don;t have them find you.... you find each other. You have to grow into who you are to be - learn who you are inside and BE that person, a person you not only CAN be proud of, but ARE proud of. Once you have that, once you are YOU and happy being you... then you will see who your One is, because they will share some of your time, they will share some of your interests... and the onse you don;t already share will either interest you or not... but you would want to help them, encourage them... just so they could be happy... and in doing that, you find the joy in sharing thier energy and love of life's experience....
So there it is.. in simple mathematical precision. THAT is what True Love is... THAT is how to find it....
And that, my dear Reader, is why I fight every day to teach anyone and everyone I can why you should NEVER SETTLE.

Capital-L "Love"; that storybook love, that fairy tale love, that Love that dreams are made of, that Soulmate and other-half Love is out there to be had....
