Posted 14 years agoI agreed to go in to TinyTribble's school today and teach her 3rd Grade Class a little about Japan - culture, customs, festivals.... and FOOOOD!
So I'm cooking up Rice to make Sushi with and Genmaicha (Brown Rice Tea), getting a couple Japanese dolls, Tiny Tribble's Kimono from Japan...
...and the Wedding Kimono that Fujin and I purchased when we were in Kyoto in '99. (*Sigh*) It'll be the first time it's been out of it's box since then.
I am scared out of my mind.. not NEARLY enough prep time because of all the stuff I'd been working on this week.....
Did I mention it was her WHOLE class? As in 55 Kids?!
Yeah... this should be interesting.
Oh, yeah.. and no April Fool's Day Mass-Avatar tricks this year. Just... (*Lifts his head proudly...*) I got to watch more MLP:FiM.... and OK, I'm RELUCTANTLY hooked. This scene was just TOO damned epic to NOT use. (*Bro-Hoofs Around*)

Posted 14 years agoSo at the bakery I work at we FINALLY had the ERIE COUNTY, NEW YORK STATE, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, Health Inspector come down to re-assess us; seems this was a "Pass Or I Close You" inspection.
Long Story there. Seriously. I'll explain later. Suffice it to say our product is 100% safe to consume. Our freezer doors, apparently, are not an 'needed' to be scrubbed clean.... the OUTSIDE of the doors.
..anyway....
So, one of the things that had to change was that I needed to start wearing a Beard Net... think of a hair net designed to cover your beard.

Ok, so... I think this is a little odd considering HE doesn;t need to wear a hair net, nor one of the managers... turns out it's because their hair is less than 4" in length, supposedly.
(O_o) Oh, kaaayyyy....
Now, I'm FINE with wearing the beard catcher! I think it's odd that my whiskers are an issue but my arm hair isn't but whatever....
And I mentioned how I'd like to see the regs - chapter and verse of the Health Code to see what it actually says; not that I'm thinking about non-compliance, just find it so bizarre.
Even MORE bizarre? Said boss / part-owner of the company doesn't have a copy of the Health Code.
Think about this a second: A business you own and run that is regulated by an agency with the power to shut you down for non-compliance based on a spot-inspection that can happen, unannounced, at ANY time.... and you don;t have a copy of the Health Code to know what we need to be doing to stay open?!
His answer to my incredulity was (GET THIS!), "We're all citizens of the United States and we don;t carry around copies of the 1900-or-so laws that we need to follow, do we?" Notice, this doesn't address the source of my surprise at all.... PLUS its a not-so-veiled attack on my questioning him.
A couple minutes later he comes back to me, handing me two pages, stapled together, opened to the second with a highlighted section which says, and I quote.....
a) A worker with facial hair was not wearing a beard guard which is contrary to your Protective Clothing Policy. You must ensure that all staff are aware of your Protective Clothing Policy and follow it to the letter.
This was something he, apparently, grabbed off the Net, printed, stapled, highlighted, then brought to me as some form of proof, apparently, claiming it to be his backing of his claim.
BTW, the paper her gave me was an edited print off of THIS document with the Premises Name, Address, Date, Type, Area, Records and Samples fields removed....
Please take a look at where this document is from.

Well, I'm going with it and we'll see what this'll do for me speed wise. Will it do lots and lots for me? We'll see. BUT... at under $100 it seems like a worthy enough risk for now.

Artists you commission will, very typically, underprice themselves. You're at a con, you're asking them to do something for you, LIVE a little! Give a little extra! You'll be AMAZED at what you might get back for that.
I'll get back to you all - seems my video card suddenly took a crap on one of the outputs on FrankenPuter. 8-(

Posted 14 years ago...apparently there as a little more than just the directional light bulb that was broken. ...
Took The Beast to service the light and power steering AND the loud exhaust. .... Well the light is only just BARELY holding on since the entire reflector assembly is broken in 5 parts, the power steering was just a simple flush.... but while checking on that it turns out the tierods were failing PLUS the exhaust wasn't JUST a failing tube.... was the CatConverter.
So, 1200$ later.... (sigh)....
You know, if I didn't have FE all paid for already we might not have been going this year.
Oh. Yeah. I'll be doing a short Disco show tight at Xanadu: 6 - 8 SLT.

The NEWS and need suggestions for Wed's show....

I'm 99% sure I will be doing another Live Remote / podcast / interview show - this time AT Furnal Equinox.... but not specifically for myself.... FOR Furnal Equinox! SO... that show I did at AnthroCon? yeah - Kinda like that, only I'll likely be in a visible location, playing some tunes and getting interviews with whomever i can - especially asking for the VIPs and such.. so, we see!
And for your suggestions:
After hearing how the radio regulating body in Canada has decided, after ONE complaint, to censor the 1985 song, 'Money for Nuthin' ', because the word 'faggot' is said three times.... and how a company is going to release an edited version of 'Tom Sawyer' and 'Huck Finn' to not include the terms 'injun' and 'niger'....
Wed-night's show will have the theme of, "Fuck Censorship!"
So, if you have a choice for an 80's tune (79 - 91) that you think qualifies as a, "Hey! Leave my freekin' music alone!", tell me about it! (I'm already planning on things like 2Live Crue, NWA and the such.)
