MFF / CPFC : best cons I've been to in years.
General | Posted 11 years agoMFF was great. Probably one of the best conventions I've been to in a very long time.
I met several new people, and I really do appreciate all of their company. The convention would have been nothing at all without them. To all of my Fort Worth friends (Raptor and HayPanda), I missed you guys and I'm glad we met up and were able to hang. To all of those I met through my Fort Worth friends (two of you in particular), I am excited at the opportunity to develop a friendship with you. I can't wait to see how things might turn out.
To all of my friends from SecondLife; I've known some of you for years. It was incredible to be able to apply a face and a personality to the avatar. I don't know how excited you guys were to meet me, but I was more than excited to meet you.
To one crux in particular; you were a sweetheart, and being able to spend time with you was precious indeed. There's so much more I could say, but it would be better not to. :>
Oh, and since I never posted about CPFC, I'd better do it now before I forget!
After a rough experience on my second day of the convention, I found it necessary to book my own dwellings apart from my roommates. (really guys? c'mon...)
Doing so allowed me to have some great times with three semi-friend-acquaintances, as well as a new person who turned out to be one of the biggest sweeties I'd met in a while.
I bought a lot of art and some comics, went to a delicious Mexican place in the earliest of morning hours (I was smashed; I barely remember anything past talk of the good times the morning after), and had Kraken for my first time. I left Zahzu's car door open while we ate at the Mexican place that drunken morning. I was too drunk to remember to close it. At least nothing got stolen or broken. :P
I listened to one of my friends talk about jazz and saxophone for at least an hour with great interest. I learned some things, but the details are lost on me now. I was also kind of drunk then too. :P
I ended up hanging with Merk for a while at a room party; we were able to catch up on some stuff. It was nice for sure.
I love all you guys. In the end, I hope at least a few of the new people I've met turn out to be more than just acquaintances.

Everything.
General | Posted 11 years agoGraduated university, got a job, got an apartment. Trying to reintegrate myself back into the fandom a little more! Maybe I'll see you all a little more often from now on. :>
FWA was nice.
General | Posted 13 years agoIt was pretty good. I didn't really meet anybody new at the con, but it was nice to be around the energy of it all. It was nice to watch the fursuiters do their thing, to see everybody having so much fun, and to be reminded of what it's like to be around my fellow fuzzies.
I bought a badge as well as some art for a couple of my friends who expressed interest in getting some. Almost bought a chunk of silicone from a vendor in the corner that just so happened to mimic some female anatomy. But I didn't.
I found a new favorite drink (cinnamon whisky, Crown Royal, and coke), made a few friends during the drive to Atlanta, and I drove a shift of nearly 500 miles on the way home. Got to see lots of cows along the way.
I met up with an old friend who seemed to have changed with time in ways that I didn't particularly care for. I wish him the best, and I'll look forward to the day when we may yet again and have wonderful times.
Kia wore my pants, but that's okay. I ate her snacks as revenge (but she never noticed).
I snuck into the dance before I paid for attendance, and that was a little exciting. I finally decided to eat some Dairy Queen, and it was lackluster for sure.
There was an incident where an artist may have heard me suggest that I liked her friend's art better, but it was a lie. They were both talented. It was an innocent stretch of the truth aimed at making one person feel better, but another may have felt worse as a result. Maybe I can just imagine that she didn't hear me after all. Maybe neither of them did! I'm sure tears were shed at the con for things much worse (and much less worse -- those drama queen!)
I got to spend a lot of time with two of my buds; Seveer and Flamedramon. Many laughs were had.
And Tennessee; what's up with all of your ancient disused bridges? Demolish those unsightly bitches D:

Song(s) of the Week: Dubstep!
General | Posted 15 years agoI have, as of late, been the victim of a dubstep fixation. My speakers are crying. My neighbors are crying. My dog is unfortunately eating herself.
If you do not know why all of these horrible things are happening, then you must be unfamiliar with dubstep! Let us correct your offense. Dubstep is a real intense genre that utilizes heavy bass (electronically produced bass; lets not mistake dubstep for drum and bass!) to characterize the genre. Hold on a second while I find a good description from a website that can describe it better.
Ah, here we are. Thank you, Wikipedia:
"Dubstep is a genre of electronic dance music, originating from London, UK. Its overall sound has been described as "tightly coiled productions with overwhelming bass lines and reverberant drum patterns, clipped samples, and occasional vocals"."
And as such, my subwoofer (dare I say dubwoofer?) has been working overtime! A week or so ago, I found an excellent channel for many great dubstep songs called UKF Dubstep, and that is where we will be receiving our tunes from. If you do not have a good set of speakers, you may not be able to enjoy the music in its entirety. Lets skip to some songs and call it a night:
The Streets - In The Middle (Nero Remix)

Flux Pavilion - Hold Me Close

Song of the Week: Neighborhood #1 (Tunnels), by Arcade Fire
General | Posted 15 years agoThis one's late, sorry. This week's will follow this post!
The song, gentle in its implementation, seems to express a sense of juvenile love, desire, yearning, and the eventual fulfillment of such. The lyrics describe the story of an individual, presumably a young man, who is irrevocably in love with another person who seems to reciprocate the same sense of desire. The lyrics elaborate a bit on their love, and then venture off to describe their plan to be together, to mature (both mentally and physically), and perhaps an allusion to an ideal future. Although the tone of voice the singer chose seems a bit depressed, deep down, the song expresses a rather happy message of mutual love and satisfaction.

Song of the Week: Gardenhead, by Neutral Milk Hotel
General | Posted 15 years agoI was recently inspired to begin making music related posts by a sweet music blog located at:

Check it out!
Gardenhead, by Neutral Milk Hotel
Neutral Milk Hotel is a rather interesting band. The lyrics are designed such that they rarely have any explicit meaning, and therefore leave the whole song open to the listener's interpretation. Their music is grungy, distorted, emotional, and incredibly amazing. The distortion really gives off an extraordinary sense of substance that is not easily described. As their lyrics are generally about not so happy subjects, the distorted instruments really reinforce the sense of longing, or melancholic emotion, contained within the singer's voice.
Gardenhead is no exception.

Lyrics:
There are beads that wrap around your knees
That crackle into the dark
Like a walk in the park, like a hole in your head
Like the feeling you get when you realize you're dead
This time we ride rollercoasters into the ocean
We feel no emotion as we spiral down to the world
And I guess it's worth your time
Because there's some lives you live
And some you leave behind
It gets hard to explain
The gardenhead knows my name
Leave me alone, for you know this isn't the first time
In fact, this is twice in a row
That the angels have slipped through our landslide
And filled up our garden with snow
And I don't wish to taste of your insides
Or to call out your name through my phone
For the glory boys at your bedside will love you
As long as you're something to own
Follow me through a city of frost-covered angels
I swear I have nothing to prove
I just want to dance in your tangles
To give me some reason to move
But to take on the world at all angles
Requires a strength I can't use
So I'll meet you up high in your anger
Of all that is hoping and waiting for you

Abandoned nuclear powered lighthouses in Russia; hardcore.
General | Posted 15 years agoThey even had nuclear powered lighthouses! Awesome!
Excerpt: "Russian Northern coast is a vast territory lays for a few thousand of miles and all this coastline is inside the Polar Circle. Long polar winters mean no daylight at all, just one day changes another without any sign of the Sun rising above the horizon. There is only polar night for 100 day a year."

Sweet.

Most recent Family Guy -- best and worst thing I've seen yet
General | Posted 16 years ago"Quagmire's Dad" Holy. Crap.
It was blatantly offensive toward transgendered people, which I do not condone. However, the ending was the most amazing thing I have EVER seen.
Jesus. Christ.
