Interesting, that would be that while most furries rate the sexual component of the fandom that interests them as extremely low to medium, they think that the other members of the fandom have medium to high interest, and that everyone outside the fandom thinks we spend our time rutting anything that's not nailed down.

Sobering would be that while half who responded consider themselves artists, over 17% consider themselves a zoophile and over 8% plushophiles. That's 535 zoophiles. And 259 plushophiles.

I do my best drawing late at night, when there's nothing else I can be doing. My mind relaxes and lets itself get on.
Longevity of that state due to tiredness is an issue though.
I tried making one of my brain teas to help, but tried adding some guarana and camomile too. Nice flavoured blend, and a faster "boot up". Possibly because it is late, it didn't last as long and the wear off is somewhat rougher. I'll have to try it again tomorrow to see.

Someone on an LJ community made the comment that all furry artists have a proper job if they take money for commissions, not a paying hobby.

To me a paying hobby is when you happen to get money for doing something you enjoy. An amount of money that is not comparable to full time employment.

So, even assuming a minimum graphic artists wage of, say, $10/£10 an hour, how much would you need to be charging for your work?

Myself, I'm thinking at least £20 for an okay pencil work, maybe £10 a rough sketch. Inked and coloured would easily top the £70-£100 mark.

Still no content here from me, but despite my feelings about the content changes that passed a year and a half ago, I have to log in every so often to see peoples new works, or send messages.

In the intervening time, things have changed. One of the biggest is a recent one. I'm now self-employed. It's still early-days, but there's wonderful things afoot.

While I feel personal works are right out, and will continue to be, there may in future be professional works for advertising purposes.

Well, I said I'd give it some time to stop me making any hastey descisions. It's a good little while on now, and I still can't stomach the idea of remaining a member of an art archive that now condones sexualising non-consentual acts on minors.

I hate leaving a mess behind me though, so I've cleared out all off my watch-list and all my favourites (except for one that's been removed by the artist, so now the broken link won't go away). Just because I'm off I don't want my account sitting here unused and piling up a tonne of new submissions, using up site resources.
From a technical POV, the admins could do worse than to look into a "suspend account" function for users who're going on holiday or something. Or a "I'm leaving the fandom!!1" angst button that aparently deletes everything, but keeps a backup for later use. But anyway..

Still, that was a touch couple of hours manually undoing all those favs and buddys. But gotta have a clean break if you're gonna make one.

I've been to cons and furmeets, and met people who're into this shoddy crap. About 20% (to be favourable) are into a quite understandable desire to have something sweet and inocent involved in thier lives, both sexual and otherwise. A good 70% are just a bit weird and disturb me like mini chuthulu's. You look at them and feel your sanity ebbing away. Then there's that last 10%. They're the ones you talk to and they're not there. Their mind's constantly somewhere else imaginging the things they'd be doing if they weren't so shit scared of the consequences. These are the ones to be scared of. They're the ones that only need a touch of encouragment and self-righteousness to get their hard on and level up.

Pedophillia is rape and abuse. It is the ultimate in power-play for these people, and the victims do not have a say in it. And I beleive it is utterly wrong to be fantasising over any non-consentual act. A child is not developed enough to make the choice.

Will I be staying around here in the light of this descision? Maybe, maybe not. Certainly not if there's a sudden spike in this crap. And probably not in the long run either. While this site's a great gift to the artist community in general (what with being FREE and all), it doesn't inspire confidence that they'd rather change the rules than enforce them.

Leaving asside that the whole issue is debating something that's in the sites origional Terms Of Service already, may I sugest a creative outlet for peoples frustrations?
