I got the "new" computer installed in the workshop today. Since it's running XP it means I can livestream AND skype at the same time. I'm thinking this could make streaming a bit more interesting. :3

I've got to get all the media across via USB drive tho, because the network between the old 2000 machine and XP never works right, and the hard drive itself.. well weird things happened there. Suffice to say it didn't work.

Some castings from last week didn't come out too well, but I should be doing replacements tomorrow, so watch for a stream link.

Some test castings with brass-powder-filled steampunk accessories came out okay, but polishing each tiny thing with wire wool will take too long. I'm looking at converting an old key-cutting machine into a "rock tumbler" to polish them. There's special rocks you can use, etc..

Looks like I'll be pushing my overdraft to the limit already to make the order for my next batch of shirts. Upside is they should arrive just in time for RBW! *fingers crossed*

Now gone 3am here. Spent the past hour an a bit trying to download an album I'd purchased from a rather broken webshop. Sadly it was the most legit shop that actually carried it. "US only" releases I can understand for CDs, but when you're selling mp3s of all the other tracks to the whole world, why not that one extra good one??

Been trying for hours to get Skype working at the same time, but even with patch-software, it just won't work under Windows 2000. I think the workshop machine may need an upgrade.

It's been a profoundly unpleasant few weeks. My nerves finally hit rock bottom and spent a little over two weeks stuck in what was essentially the perpetual start of a panic-attack. Shaking hands, heart palpitations and a crushingly tight chest.
Thanks to a few folk visiting and otherwise meeting up with me in the real world, it helped get me a bit grounded again.

I've spent too long without any rewards. By putting everything I can back into the business, working to exhaustion and rushing to catch up again after I collapse, I've been overdosing on stress. Doing this and working alone, day in day out. Nothing to make me feel I'm doing this for a good reason beyond that I might be improving the odds of success further down the line.

As a result, once the physical effects subsided, I've taken another couple of weeks downtime. Buying things for myself, not the business, spending some time doing things I want to do, without the possibility of them being developed into a product.

The plan
I intend to start writing again, make sure I feed myself right and spend social time with people that's not just the LondonFur Meets.
Use my bicycle more, get swimming now and then. Get fitter.

I've also basically shut down on the romance front for the past couple of years. I wanted to prove myself to myself before I got into another one. But I also don't want to be single forever, and proving my worth by earning for myself is a longer path than I'd first imagined. And it would go a lot smoother with a friend/lover to curl up with at the end of a bad day.

I used to have something of an interest in certain fetishes, and recent chats with people have rekindled not my interest, but my enthusiasm to explore them further. Certain points in my relationship history saw some of them shelved due to lack of time or bad associations. So I want to claim those interests back for me.

Finally got around to joining Fetlife (SciStarborne), after some poking from a friend of mine. It looks like it'll be a good place to refresh myself and explore some new interests as well as make some more experienced friends.

An upshot of this is probably going to be an increase in sexual/porny drawings from me. Explore them on paper first an all that.

I'm still getting my energy back up, and ticking off boxes for things I've had to let slip over the past month. My goal is to clear the current commission list ASAP, as I know there are some that have been on it FAR too long, as well as get new images up into the business account. There's a bunch of things that need doing for the business, mostly revolving around new moulds and databases. If I try to take them on one at a time I hope I can manage. Once they're done, production and management should become a lot easier for me.

I'm also very aware I have a few thousand quid worth of personal debts to clear. Because they're to family, they remind me they're not urgent to repay. But I want them gone.

I've wondered about the Iron Artist thing, but with outstanding commissions already it would be fair.

If anyone wants to send some good vibes, it'd be nice. RL interaction's preferable though. Nice words on a screen really don't go as far as they used to.

I've just realised that the "Volvo tracing meme" joke pic I did has got in 3 days more views, comments AND favourites than the previous proper 6 images have in 11-21 days combined.

Well it is. Some of the new changes seem to be occurring slowly rather than wholesale.
Is this active development or intentional so we slowly adapt?

The largest order I've yet made, at £490, will shortly see me re-stocked in all the unisex shirts, as well as a few ladies shirts in black, pink and the blue-backed "Union" design!

This means the prices are now set!

Both the white UKFur logo on black shirt or baby-pink shirt are £12, no matter the size.
The Union (white and red UKFur logo on a royal blue shirt) are £14 each, again no matter the size.

The sizes are: XS=8, S=10, M=12, L=14, XL=16

I should be able to get custom colour combinations on request now the screens for the printing have been cut. So let me know if you want the design on a different colour!

And now back to finishing the castings and commissions. Not a lot let to do!

With luck the shirts should arrive just before the next LondonFur meet on the 26th.

250 more UKFur lanyards, now featuring a safety-release, have been ordered and paid for. Delivery may be just in time for the next LondonFurs meet on the 5th of June.

I've ordered more silicone and casting supplies as well, and been out and bought some handy odds and ends for getting the secondary degass chamber assembled and working.

There's more expense yet to come as well, in the form of restocking the various UKFur T-shirts that sold at Confuzzled and the last LF meet. And yes, that restocking will include restocking the UKFur Dragon shirts.
I'm also checking into the cost of getting some female-fit versions and some extra large ones if possible (the largest listed is XXXL, but some folk want them for 52"+ chest).

Got a nice little load in the order book, I'm also finishing up art commisions before I move onto some of my own Tshirt designs.

In short, it's going to get very busy again soon. And shortly I hope to finally get the webshop loaded, tested and running to take orders directly and do some much more forward advertising.

The DEB has passed it's second and third readings, and it's committee stage all in two days, with only 25 or so MP's bothering to turn up, and a fraction of them discuss the issues raised by the 18,000+ letters sent to them. Apparently though they were also all under a "Three Line Whip", which means they vote exactly the way they're told, or risk getting kicked out of their respective political parties. So we can have no doubt that all the parties concerned in fact back the bill, despite their reassurances that the bill was crazy and would never pass.

All three major parties have lied to our faces, right up to the last second.

The UK is now a country where you can loose your access to all electronic communications systems if someone, anyone, accuses you of infringing copyright in some way. With no investigation, no trial, and no appeals procedure.

I'm particularly worried because while people have concentrated on this affecting peoples internet access, it seems to me that "electronic communications systems" could potentially cover the internet, mobile phones, landlines, radios, pagers, faxes, telex, loud-hailers, telegraph, even fucking morse-code.

With the now upcoming election, and the incumbent government's written-in ability to change what's defined as copyright as far as this bill's concerned, if something underhanded were to be attempted then any whistle-blower or anyone they might forward evidence to could be permanently removed from all forms of communication in the UK short of hand-written letters and shouting.

They have taken tacit control of our freedom of expression, and are breaching our human rights. I can't think that they would do this in law without intending to exploit it to it's fullest.

In short, the worst is yet to come.
