Well, yesterday (thursday the 7th), was my birthday. And I slept through most of it. Wasn't even that tired, but somehow I slept for thirteen hours anyway. I'm... mad. At myself, the weather, the wireless connection, and everything else. So yeah, I got drunk at least. That made the day a little better. Mmmm, 151....

[edit] P.S. All of you people leaving the site, temporarily leaving 'till this blows over', and generally bitching, have you never had to put up with any adversity? So you get a 500 or 502 error when you upload something or look at something: so what? Hit the back button, your info will be saved, and try again. Two or three tries and it will go through. This increases your time only slightly in the long run. Is that really so bad you can't use the damned site?

Alright guys, my mind is pretty much made up on this, but I like to have the opinions of others before I make any decisions, and since you guys are my watchers, I'd really like to know what you think. As you can likely guess from the title, I'm planning on changing my name, which would, of course, include an account change. Before someone asks, I don't mean my real name or anything, I mean the name I use online.

Now, this likely won't be a big shock, but the name I want to start using is Lafitte. I've wanted to do this for some time, almost as soon as I started using the character, but I held off because I didn't want to jump into it and then get bored of the character. Well, it's been over a year, and she's still the only character of mine I still hold any interest in.

I also figure this would be a good time to make a change as I'm really not that popular an artist at this time, so it shouldn't cause too much trouble. I will spread the process over about a month, getting a new account for Lafitte, changing the sigs on my art, and then taking down this gallery as I put that one up.

So, any red flags from you guys?

So yeah, I'm back. So I did end up getting a room at the last minute, and I must say that was some luck. Roomed with several people, but they were all awsome. Some older, giant black guy with a voice like gravel: fucking amazing. A younger guy named Unknown Wolf who was also totally awsome. Gave a ride to a friend of theirs in Michigan goes by dBull, whom it ends up had been an inker for Marvel. That was pretty cool. The guy running the room was Zak Rhino, a good guy. So yeah, lucked out there.

The con was... and endurance test. Thanks to Traffic and bad directions from the internet and locals alike, a 5 hour drive became more like 11 hours. Then the con got more than three times the expected turnout, so the artist's alley became hotly contested. For those that haven't been, at MFF a certain number of badges (roughly half the number of artist alley seats) are sold that guarantee you a spot, even if they have to through someone out. This is the first year they had to throw people out, and it was a lot. I was one of the first on saturday, but an hour later I got back in. Then there's the whole 10 AM to 12 PM thing, which is great for selling, but awful for sleep. I got maybe 6 hours of sleep between thursday afternoon (didn't sleep before the drive) and sunday night (after another 5 or so hours of driving). By sunday, I literally told a couple of people I just didn't feel up to drawing.

On the other hand, being there was great. Got to see a lot of friends, and met some new folks. Not sure if it's the name he uses here or not, but I have to give a shout out to the guy going by Fanboy Justin, whom is actually a fan of Lafitte and actually paid me to draw her. This is sort of pinnacle experience in my life, you must understand, and gave me a massive ego boost. Ben Racoon was another person we met who was cool, and Lyenuv, who was awsome. The fursuits were really intersting (the, like, 7 foot cyborg furry with truly digitigrade feet, and the satyr with seemingly digitigrade, hooved legs were my favorites). Ran into familiar faces, like my old friend Swann, Silver Fenrir, and Skandranon (if I forgot to list you, sorry). Met some friends of the local Skates who didn't know he was back in Ohio, including 2, who want us to visit.

The real problem with the con, though, is that it takes place in a little place the Mob calls Chicago, and I call hell. That city pissed me off more than Texas, and the rest of Illinois angered me too. Sorry for those who live there, but shit! I had to pay just to enter the state (in case you don't know, this is fairly unique for a landlocked state), then I had to pay THREE seperate tolls to get on, and then stay on their innercity freeway. A freeway that LITTERALLY backed up for many, many miles at each toll, since less than a quarter of the booths for these tolls were for people with cash. The rest were for people with some fucking pass, but it didn't matter, they still waited as long since most traffic was cash, so the traffic jam was unavoidable.

Add to this the maze-like structure of the city, the way everyone who gave directions seemed to live in Bizaroo Chicago, and that these traffic problems existed for LEAVING the damned city too, and you have a big sign that says "SALALI HATES YOUR FUCKING STATE!"

Oh yeah, sales were abysmal over all for me, but Snakes sales were beyond anything we could have imagined. Truly a mixed bag trip.

The single best thing, though, is that a got a badge from Java of Lafitte! It's the most beautiful badge I've ever seen, too! She also gave me some tips on using watercolor without it taking so much time and space. I was taught by my mother, who is a professional illustrator who uses water color, but doing it properly takes an immense amount of time and space. Now I know how to cut some corners, so hopefully I'll have some traditional coloring soon.

Oh, the other best thing! Heather Bruton liked the badge she did for me so much that she actually remembers me, and we actually spent a while just talking... about bull shit. It was pretty cool.

Well, I can't think of anything else to complain about now, but I'm sure I will, so there'll likely be edits. Oh yeah, and three new art pieces.

I've been trying to find a room. I've been asking here, as has been Snake, and Snake's been on the MFF forums too. Did we somehow offend the entire fucking fandom? Is everyone afraid to share a room with us now? Not a single fucking response! We're goin to have to sleep in our car at this rate! We're going to have to drag all our stuff down to the car, and then sleep in a freezing fucking car, and then stink of old clothes the next day!

So if I seem full of hate, you'll know why. >:P

Alright, I'm not going to talk about the cub porn thing. I'm here to talk about the fall out. There're three things I want to say.

First, leaving the site because of this is childish. I don't care if you're doing it because you think you'll be associated with pedos now, because you think your popularity means you can bully the site, or because you think Jesus is going to punch you. You're a fucking baby.

Second, this isn't exactly new. This is the second time this site has had this exact same argument. Both times, it came out the same. Now they're stepping it back a little, and finally seeing that there's no real reason to ban something that is totally legal. If you have a problem with that, well, I'm afraid you'll have to go to one of those sites that likes banning things. There's plenty of them. Here, freedom is the keyword, and looks like it'll stay that way.

Third, don't worry about all the people leaving, they'll be back in a couple months, JUST LIKE LAST TIME, and every other the drama whores of the fandom quit in a huff.

Bearing in mind the truth of my third statement, even if you were an artist I watched, if you're leaving, don't let the door hit in the ass on the way out: we like that door the way it is, after all. We don't need you and your bullshit here.

Also, nothing will change. As I said, this isnt' the first time this has happened, and the site still isn't the haven for pedo that everyone said it would become. There's not enough pedos to do that, you know. The rest of us still control the site.

Nae, but dere is somethin' close. Dere's a piece or two dat show da other members o' da ship from da D&D game ah'm from, an ah consider dem cannon no matter where ah go ta. On MUCKs sometimes ah'll e'en talk 'bout da rest o' da crew, an ah may do individual pieces o' dem. Half o' dem are NPCs, but da other half be me players characters.

I'm getting another student loan, but I won't be getting it for a few weeks, so I don't really have much money for AC. I can get in and all, but eventhe money I make in artists alley will likely all go to pay my room. So... I could really use some comissions. There's an AC discount if you can pay me before AC starts. I'll do things for half price, in that case. Hopefully, though, some of you are waiting for AC to com ission me. I just get nervous....

Ok, after the first death of this site I took the not-so-ideal path of using Ygallery. Stable and easy to use, but nothing but gay porn. As most probably have heard, now it's gay non-furry porn (Not gay human porn, not even gay non-anthro porn. non-furry gay porn). I've been watching a lot of artists here and not trusting, but things seem pretty good... I don't see any site drama, I don't get logged out all the time, and things seem civil again.
