Each year, RMFC issues attendance badges usually in 4 different designs and we would love to get designs for this year's attendee badges!
Badges submitted must be 4" wide x 3" tall and must fit our B-Movies theme.

Overflow Hotel Update!
Posted 9 years agoNegotiations have finally come to a conclusion for overflow, and we are happy to report that we have officially secured a hotel to use as overflow for this year's convention.

Cambria Suites has agreed to provide a special rate for RMFC attendees for dates between Thursday, August 11 through Monday, August 15.

First bit of exciting news: Dealers Den applications will be opening up on Saturday, March 19th! Final details will be announced on or before the 14th!

As we ramp up preparations for RMFC 2016, we are once again looking for art submissions!
This year, we are not only looking for art for the conbook, but signage throughout the con space and of course our attendee badges!
You might be asking yourself, "What kind of art can I do that would be related to B-Movies?" Good question!
Great ideas would be things like movie posters or B-Movie monsters!

A statement from Sorin regarding the 2016 room block
Posted 9 years agoGreetings Attendees far and near!
I just wanted to give a general status update on behalf of RMFC in regards to the hotel that we have chosen this year. As most of you know, we posted the link to reserve a room on Friday. Many rooms were sold out that very night, which caused quite a few folks to send us reasonably concerned feedback about the current hotel, and what it means for them.
There were also a number of technical issues with the website that prevented people from getting a room. These concerns have been forwarded through the proper channels, and we will investigate whether or not they can be rectified. So I want to boil down exactly where we are coming from since we found out that the Marriott would be undergoing renovations in 2016.
The process begins with budgetary concerns. Many venues that had both enough space and rooms (including downtown options like the Hyatt) would have doubled our cost for space rental. Guest rooms also would have been double what our attendees were used to paying in years-past. We did not think that such an unexpected cost increase to our attendees would have been fair.
Other options we looked at had plenty of guest rooms but not nearly enough convention space to meet our needs. Lastly, other venues we looked at had plenty of space, but already had rooms and events blocked out, so we could not possibly allocate enough space for our attendees. This, in addition to the time crunch, left us with very few exceptionally good options.
The little time we were given to act put us in a position where we were also in competition with at least six other conventions our size for space near the same time period. All of these factors left us with a very limited pool to choose from. In the end, we chose Crowne Plaza DIA because they are within our budget, they have the convention space that we require, and they are willing to work with us for this one year.
Our previous room and growth were factored into the decision. It’s worth noting that while the Marriott did have 600+ rooms, RMFC occupied just a little over 200 of those rooms for 3 nights. This leads our numbers to show that the separations between the room availability at the Crowne Plaza and what we used at the Marriott was not very significant even with growth. Now, I know this isn’t comforting to those of you who do not yet have rooms, but this will bring me to my last point.
Our priority right now is to expand the current room block. That being said, we do have other options down the line. The other benefit to this hotel is that there are quite a few others in the vicinity to support the awesome convention space offered by the Crowne Plaza.
We have been working on the possibility of overflow long before we announced the opening of the current block. Once again, this process will take a little bit more time, but once we have secured terms that benefit all of our attendees, you will be the first to know.
Every year that we have launched the room block, it has sold out in very short time. As with all previous years, we are working with the hotel to see if we can expand that block even further. This process takes time, and requires more negotiating, so patience is needed from all parties. Don’t Panic. We have issues with hotels every single year, and like all years past, we will work through this problem too, and we will host a fantastic convention for all to enjoy.

Just wanted to keep everyone up to date, as we have had quite a few folks ask us when the room block is opening up. I'm happy to report that it will open up next Sunday! So keep your eyes peeled here and on our Facebook and Twitter accounts as we will make more specific announcements regarding the times to be on the lookout.
Just as a reminder, for one year only, we will be at the Crown Plaza Denver Airport.

2016 News So Far

2016 will be the 10th running of Rocky Mountain Fur Con!
Our theme for 2016 will be "B-Movie Night", a showcase of those new and old movies that either made you laugh or gave you nightmares as kids (or adults)!
The Artist Guest of Honor will be Rick Griffin, artist and author of the wildly popular comic, Housepets! (FA:
rickgriffin )
Our Fursuit Guest of Honor will be Snap E. Tiger, owner of ByCats4Cats! (FA:
bycats4cats )
Since the Marriott Denver Tech Center is undergoing a $37 million renovation next year, we will be relocating to a different hotel for 2016 only, but we will return to the Marriott in 2017.
Since there are no contracts signed yet, we do not have a new hotel or a date for the convention, but those are being worked on tirelessly by our Chairman, so when we have those items, we will get that info out ASAP.
We are, of course, trying to keep the date in the same timeframe as previous years (1st weekend in August).
Stay tuned to this page for further updates!

Volunteers Still Needed!
Posted 10 years agoNow that the room block has closed for new reservations, we can start announcing great things leading up to RMFC 2015!
First up, RECRUITMENT!
Yes, RMFC relies on the efforts of a great many volunteers to help make our convention run and provide a great experience for all our attendees!
Pretty much every department is looking for volunteers for everything from staffing game rooms, to event setup and breakdown, as well as Special Operations.
Of course, anyone who volunteers for RMFC gets perks! 8 hours of time gets you a free t-shirt and 24 hours will get you an attending-level registration for 2016 PLUS a T-Shirt! Just make sure the organizer or Director you volunteer with signs your sheet so you get credited for your time. The setup and breakdown hours count for double due to the workload involved.

Thanks to all who pre-registered for RMFC this year, we totaled out at 889 registrations, breaking last year's record of 750!
We are looking forward to another stellar year for the convention and that only happens with all the attendees that grace our space!
We held a random drawing when we reached 800 and the winner of that was Keinse, who receives an upgrade to Super Patron!
Keep watching this space for news as we move light-speed toward RMFC 2015!

Last Week to Pre-Reg for 2015!
Posted 10 years agoThat's right folks, we are now in the LAST WEEK to Pre-Register and/or upgrade to Super Patron! This period ends next Monday, July 6th!
We are currently sitting at 688 registrations and we have some exciting things to share regarding that number!
Once we hit 700, we will give one of those an automatic upgrade to Patron level (normally $150)!
Our previous record for pre-registrations was 750 last year. If we make it to 800, there will be another giveaway and the winner of that drawing will receive an automatic upgrade to SUPER PATRON!
As the old saying goes, "You can't win if you don't play!", so make sure you get registered for RMFC 2015!

In keeping with our "Game Shows" theme for 2015, RMFC is launching its first-ever contest on Social Media!
Starting on Saturday, January 31st, a random trivia question will be posted each month to a special page on our website and linked to from our various social media outlets (Twitter, Facebook, Google+, FurAffinity, etc., and there will be lots of cool prizes up for grabs to those who answer correctly!
January's prize will be an official RMFC 2015 T-Shirt!

We are currently sitting at 130 Pre-Registrations for 2015. Keep them coming!

As a reminder to dealers, one attending registration is included in the Dealer Registration, but if you have an assistant, they must purchase a separate attending registration.

Dealer Registration will be opening on January 24th on our website!
As a reminder to dealers, one attending registration is included in the Dealer Registration, but if you have an assistant, they must purchase a separate attending registration.
