Posted 13 years ago**First of all: THANK YOU SO MUCH TO EVERYONE WHO HAS DONATED AND/OR SPREAD THE WORD ABOUT MUTA. It has made a world of difference and I was able to afford her vet visit and meds today!**

This morning at 7am I took Muta to an avian and exotic vet. They gave her subcutaneous fluids and an injection for her intestinal inflammation and nausea. They also did a fecal parasite test on her, which came out negative. ECE (the disease I mentioned in my previous journal) isn't researched enough to be an "official" disease, thus it is not specifically taught about in vet school, so the vet did not say anything about it, even when I mentioned what it was and how Muta was displaying all of the telltale symptoms that medical researchers have associated with it.
Muta is able to walk around for a few minutes at a time, but then eventually falls over when her legs give out. She is still extremely weak, lethargic, and feverish. She has severe diarrhea that has dehydrated her to the point of being limp and breathing erratically. Ferrets can die within 24 hours of getting dehydrated, so it's EXTREMELY important that she keeps getting fluids.
The only way to see what is truly wrong with her intestines is to do a complete intestinal spectrum test, which shows any viruses, excess bacteria, ulcers, and/or diseases. This test costs an additional $200, and I could not afford to get this done today. The vet urged me to have this done, as well as keeping Muta hospitalized overnight to make sure she gets enough fluids, but the cost of her staying overnight there for a couple of days is WAY out of my financial range. Poor little girl, she flat out refuses to take water from her own water bowl or from a syringe. I'm just praying I can keep her hydrated and get some food into her.
I was able to pay for today's visit as well as 3 medications to give her twice daily. It breaks my heart to make her take these meds because she literally has to be held down and have them forced into her mouth, and then she cries and claws at her face and mouth because of the taste and her stress levels :(
OH and the vet also wants to see my new ferret Milo because he could very well be a carrier of whatever Muta has. I'm praying SO HARD that my other baby Yuki doesn't get whatever this is, because then I will be going through this all again, and I won't have the means, after all this, to help her to the extent she would need.
I know all to well the motto of "If you can't afford a vet, don't get the pet", but when I got my 2 girls I was financially prepared for everything. Shit happens in today's job world, and I don't have very much to spend in medical expenses for myself or my babies right now. I'm doing everything I can though, and I hope it will be enough.
Please keep spreading the word through journals, tweets, facebook, ANYTHING. I just want my little girl to get better.
Sorry if this is all a jumbled mess of words; I have only gotten about 5 hours of broken up sleep in the past 48 hours and I'm exhausted from that and stress.

+++PLEASE HELP!!! MY LITTLE GIRL MUTA MAY DIE WITHOUT HELP++
Posted 13 years agoMy ferret desperately needs intravenous fluids or she may die within the day. She has contracted ECE (an intestinal disease causing severe diarrhea) and because of her age it can kill her from the dehydration within 24 hours. She has not eaten or had any water for many hours. She will not keep down any water offered by syringe at this point, and is becoming more and more lethargic. Ferrets can die within 24 hours of being dehydrated, and I can't bear the thought of losing my little girl
Everywhere I have called has quoted me at no less than $700 for bloodwork and fluids, and also hospitalization for at least a day! Because of my current financial situation I do not even have that much in the bank!
PLEASE any donations or sharing of this journal would help! I will do anything for my baby and she desperately needs help right now because of my financial situation!

Posted 13 years agoMy baby Muta (4 year old ferret) has come down with ECE (a disease affecting her intestines) which can be fatal for ferrets her age. She's not eating or drinking, and even when I try to give her broth and/or water with a syringe she refuses it (and I can't literally force her to eat/drink it or she could aspirate and die).
Please keep my little girl in your thoughts; I don't know what I would do without her :(

My seasonal job will not be turning into a full-time job because of the company's finances and current needs. I will be jobless in a month, unless I can find one before that. I have got to find a full-time job because I desperately need medical insurance.
Also,
and I have just been told that we have to be out of our current home by this Friday. Arrangements had originally been made for us to move out at the end of July, so as you can imagine, this makes things a bit...difficult. The tenant who is taking our room has notified everyone that she will need the room by Friday, instead of the end of July (and she has the final say on this, as she is the daughter of the house's owner, and we were just offered the room until her move-in date). I really wish a bit more notice could have been given. :/
And I'm getting sick. Lovely.
How am I supposed to move when I have to work AND I'm sick? My stress levels are through the roof.

Send good thoughts to my ferret please
Posted 13 years agoMy 5 year old ferret Yuki started having fits of vomiting lasting 45 minutes about 3 days ago, and after it lasted all night last night, I took her to the vet this morning. He said it was probably hairballs (since ferrets don't pass them the same way cats do) and gave me the thumbs up that she was ok. I'm giving her some laxative to help get the hairballs out.
Well, I just got back from work and she's having trouble breathing and sounds congested. I'm hoping she doesn't have a respiratory illness, rather that it's just some raspyness from vomiting and dry-heaving so much. If it IS respiratory, that could be deadly for her very, very quickly. It's heartbreaking to sit here and listen to her this way :(
Please send some good luck and thoughts her way, she needs it!

I still really like this song in Simba's Pride, although some of the movie has become so-so to me after the years (Simba being...oddly/uncharacteristically worried about everything throughout the movie always bothered me a bit,and Zazu suddenly has teeth lol). BUT I still think Kovu is a hunk ;D And this song still gets me all mushy inside.

Posted 13 years agoGot Friday, Saturday, and Sunday switched around as my days off for that week so I can go to ESG :D Although I'll have to go to bed early Sunday b/c I have to be up for work at 6am Monday lol. BUT STILL YAAAAAY!
Now I just have to find some peoples to room with (and probably squeeze in there for 2 of those nights too!)...and then some way to take care of my ferrets without having to drive an hour home and an hour back every day lol (anyone local not going to ESG?)

Posted 13 years agoI just wanted to let my commissioners know that I am still slowly but surely working on my list of commissions! Things have been slowed down immensely by my job (5 days a week of 14 work-related hours [driving included]) and being in the process of moving temporarily to a much less expensive house. Thus, my time to work on commissions has been slowed down and really only possible on my days off :(
I sincerely apologize for it taking so long, and I am very thankful that you guys are being so patient with me. <333 Please let me know if any of you have any questions (just send me a note.) :)

Agnostic. Hoping so much that there is something after this life, but my brain is very scientifically wired and it's hard for me to believe in something if I can't see/touch/hear it :(

Socially and occasionally I like to relax alone with a glass (or two) of red wine :)
13. Do you smoke?
Not anymore, except for maybe half of a cigarette when I'm intoxicated.
14. What are your fears?
Having no one to talk to and trust in, falling/dropping (no skydiving or rollercoasters for me), having the panic attacks that sometimes plague me, letting people down
15. What are your dreams/goals?
To make a noticeable difference in the conservation and well being of animals and their environments
16.Ever had any crushes/ex's in the past/present?
Yah, definitely have had crushes before, and I have ex's.

Posted 13 years agoFigured out how to give an image a transparent background with Sai. It is still transparent when I upload the image to DA, but when I upload it here there is a black background on both the fullsize and thumbnail image. It's a .png file.
How do you guys get this to work??? Do I need to save it as a different file type? Halp!
