GALLERY CLEANING WARNING
Posted 12 years agoI think I'm going to delete some of my artwork (mostly older) that I'm just not pleased with. These will include personal art as well as commissions, so commissioners: IF YOU NEED ANOTHER COPY OF YOUR ART, SAVE IT WITHIN THE NEXT 24 HOURS.
The only personal art I will be deleting are pieces that don't hold any meaning to me (random animal sketches and the like). I'm going to go ahead and do that tonight while I have this itch, so save anything you'd like now!
THIS IS MY FIRST TIME DELETING ANYTHING FROM HERE. It will be an adventure ;3;

**Muta Paw Update #3: More sad news**
Posted 12 years agoTo read what has been going on with my ferret Muta:
Journal 1: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/4821254/
Journal 2: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/4827333/
Journal 3: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/4846220/
I have decided to put my sweet Muta on Prednisone to see if it will allow her to live as comfortable a life as possible, for as long as she can.
After speaking with my boss/head vet at my work and the exotics vet (from the place where I got her bloodwork done), it was decided that the end result from a biopsy, no matter what the analysis would have shown, would most likely be to put Muta on Prednisone. A biopsy must be performed with the animal under anesthesia, which would have been a potentially dangerous ordeal for Muta at this point in time, so considering that and the fact that healing from a biopsy would be difficult for her, the biopsy was skipped. An amputation at this point would serve no purpose, since there are what appear to be very aggressive, malignant growths on the lymph nodes in her leg...which means this has probably already spread to other vital organs.
I am hoping that Prednisone will help slow down the spread of this and allow her to be comfortable. She is not ready to go yet, and she proved this again just a few minutes ago by trying to wrestle with my big 4 lb ferret Milo, making the cutest dook sounds all the while. Once she starts to go downhill I will have to make one of the hardest decisions of my life...and I can't even think about that right now :( I don't know if Muta has a week left, or even another year. It's difficult not knowing how long a much loved pet has left with you.
I wanted to post a few pictures of Muta's paw, just to document the aggressive growth on her paw over the past month. They're not very pretty to look at :/ Just going from week 2 to week 4 (those photos taken tonight), it's disturbing just how quickly this all happened..

Week 2: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u.....0/week%202.jpg

And her bad paw compared to her normal one:

Just wanted to give you guys an update, even though it's not a good one :(
If I may ask; those of you who have gone through something similar with a pet (knowing their health was declining but not knowing when they might pass), how did you handle the situation? I just...can't even accept that she may be gone soon, and I'd appreciate any advice you guys have to give <3

**Muta Amputation Update--Bad News**
Posted 12 years agoUpon taking Muta this afternoon to the vet who specializes in exotics, he found internal growths which had spread completely up the leg with the bad paw. This means an amputation would be her entire leg, not just the paw. He discussed options with me, with his advise being to do a bloodwork panel today (which I did, and I will get the results tomorrow morning).
If the results show that Muta can handle being under anesthesia, they will be doing a biopsy (they will punch out a section of the flesh on her leg) and sending it off to be analyzed.
This will tell us if these growths are a malignant cancer or something else, and the vet will then determine the hardest part: whether Muta would have a better quality of life with her entire leg amputated, or if it would be best to put her to sleep. It is not the same for a ferret, as it is for a cat or dog, to have a leg amputation, which is what makes it so tricky. All of their weight is put on the back legs, and so if she does not adapt well, her side might always drag and cause infection. The healing process would also be an extremely long and trying time, because ferrets are notorious for ripping away sutures, bandages, slipping out of cones, etc, which can be fatal in the end from bleeding out or infection.
I'm going to do absolutely everything I can for my little girl. It simply breaks my heart to think of putting her to sleep. She has so much life left in her! The moment I brought her home from the vet today she greeted the other 2 ferrets by grooming them and trying to play (she was very weak from getting so much blood drawn).
And now the fun part. The total cost for the biopsy (NOT including the amputation) is $712.67. The amputation will be another $900-$1100. The blood work today cost $157.60.
Luckily I have been approved for Care Credit, a credit card that is specifically for medical procedures for humans and pets, which will allow me to make monthly payments for the bill. However, the final bill cannot go over $2100, and I have to pay it off in full within 6-12 months (they will tell me according to how much the final costs are), so the monthly payments will likely be very high.
Here is a photo of the biopsy estimate, just so there is photo proof: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u.....63851636_0.jpg
I just want to thank all of you who have commissioned me in order to help Muta; the money you paid for your commissions are helping so much in paying for this bill. And thank you to all that have helped spread the word! This community of fuzzies never ceases to amaze me ;w;
I am still open for commissions for this cause, and any signal boosting is still very much appreciated.
Much love to you guys <3

**MUTA PAW AMPUTATION UPDATE** Must take on more commissions
Posted 12 years agoFor those who haven't seen the first journal about Muta, please read: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/4821254/
My vet just called me and told me that due to her horrible reaction to simply having blood drawn yesterday, he is not comfortable putting her under anesthesia and doing the surgery :( My work is not an exotic animal clinic, and so he is passing me on to a place that specializes in these types of things.
This means the cost has gone from $400...to $800-$1000 and I just...can't afford that right now.
I'm going to have to take on a lot more commissions than I thought,
At this point I will do any type of commission. Complex, any style, with a background, you name it. I will create a new price sheet later today when I'm less frantic feeling about this,
If you would like a commission and its price isn't listed here, please note me and I will respond with a price range as quickly as I can.
Any help spreading the word about this will be very, very much appreciated <3
Taking commissions to help with my ferret's paw amputation!
Posted 12 years agoFirst, I would like to apologize for any further delay to my current ever-patient commissioners.
I will be taking a number of smaller commissions now to fund the estimated $400 bill I will incur over having my ferret Muta's paw amputated. I am not asking for donations; I want this to be fair, so I am working for it.
Why does her paw need to be amputated?
There is an aggressive growth on her right rear paw which started as a lump the size of a pea, and it appeared overnight. Over the past month, it has grown to the size of a dime, turned yellow and purple, spread to a second toe as well as the paw pads, and has made her entire paw twice the size it should be. All throughout this I have been taking her to see the head vet (Dr. J, for convenience sake) at my work. After having several small procedures done, it has been decided that there is nothing left to do but amputate at least half of the paw, as this may be an aggressive form of cancer, and the bone may be compromised. I will take photos tonight and link them here for anyone curious. Her surgery is on Wednesday, July 10th.
This absolutely breaks my heart, because she is the sweetest, most curious ferret I have ever encountered. All she ever wants to do is to be picked up and sit on my shoulder (or anyone's, for that matter). She even learned to stand on her hind legs and outstretch her arms to signal that she'd like to be held ;w; She is my baby, the first ferret I ever adopted into my life, and now she's in serious trouble.
Although I DO work at an animal hospital, the most that Dr. J could discount the surgery (and all included things like anesthesia, sending the paw to be analyzed after surgery, etc) is down to $400. Without the discount I would be looking at almost $1000. I am SO very grateful that I work there right now. However, I cannot absorb the full cost of this surgery immediately, so I have decided to take on commissions to help fund what I can of this bill.
***EDIT: THE COST HAS NOW BEEN RAISED TO $800-1000. PLEASE READ MY NEW JOURNAL FOR INFO: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/4827333/ ***

TO MY COMMISSIONERS
Posted 12 years agoI just wanted to sincerely thank everyone for being SO freaking patient with me. Having a full time job definitely saps a lot of my energy on work days, but I'm still trucking along through my commission list. I should probably not draw so many personal pieces, but the truth is that they really help me get warmed up for working on more difficult commissions, and sometimes they're also very helpful when experimenting with new inking/coloring techniques.
OH
I also wanted to ask who out of my previous commissioners still needs me to send them a file of their art? Please note me and I will email you the high-res file asap! :)

Question: digitally coloring a traditional sketch
Posted 12 years agoI know how to do make a traditional sketch on white paper transparent, and then digitally color underneath it, BUT I really would love to know how you take a sketch drawn on brown textured paper (like the Cachet sketchbooks) and color under the traditional sketch lines, but still have the texture of the paper show though the digital color?
Basically I've seen artists have the traditional sketch as the top layer, colors as the middle layer, and the paper as the bottom layer. The paper texture still shows through the color without having to mess with the opacity of the color.
DO NOT KNOW HOW TO DO. Figured before I spend hours searching google (I'm bad at wording things correctly in search bars lol) I'd ask some of you guys! :) Thank you in advance for any tips!

Anyone remember this WEIRD movie from when they were a kid?
Posted 12 years agoWell, the movie isn't that weird I guess, just one scene haha. It was called "Halloween is Grinch Night" and the most memorable scene was this (kinda freaked me out as a little kid but I always wanted to watch it just for this part anyway lol):
You know when you laugh so hard tears come out? Yeah...

Evil Dead
Posted 12 years agoProbably the most gory movie I've seen in a while! I probably would have enjoyed it more if I hadn't already felt queasy before even going to the theater xD
Really thought they did a good job of making it a more serious/frightening film, and there is plenty of reference to the original!
OH and stay for the end of the credits! ;D
I'd love to hear what you guys thought of the movie, if you've gone to see it!

ATTN: Ferret Owners and/or Vets: problem w/ my ferret's foot
Posted 12 years agoOne of my ferrets (Muta) has developed something strange on her paw pads, and I'm a bit worried. It looks like bumble foot (ulcerative pododermatitis) that birds and other animals can get. It looks most similar to the bumblefoot on birds though, as the photos of other pets with it seem to have open sores, which Muta does not. Here are 2 photos I just took. It is worst on the pad furthest away from her toes, but it looks like the two above that pad are starting to develop it as well :( She is not limping or showing any kind of discomfort on her paw, and when I touch it she doesn't react any differently from when I touch her other paw.
She is housed in a Ferret Nation cage with micro fleece floor covers, so this isn't from wire floors or unsanitary conditions.
If it IS bumblefoot (a bacterial infection), that means I need to take Muta to the vet to get her some antibiotics. I've been trying to do research online to find out what this may be, but I haven't found anything at all :/

ATTN: Folks in Central FL NOT going to FWA
Posted 12 years agoLooks like I'll be able to go to FWA (until told otherwise lol) SO. I need to find someone to check in on my ferrets once or twice a day from Thursday the 14th through Sunday the 17th. This is a paying "job", and all you need to do each day is this:
1. Come check on the ferrets once or twice a day (depending on how close you live)
2. Fill up food and water bowls
3. Clean out their 2 litterboxes
4. Sit in my room with them while they play for an hour or 2
Is there anyone that I already know, and that has experience with pets/animals that is interested? If so, send me a note and I'll let you know more details about pay, etc :)
