My roomie has an LE1700 and it's pretty much a slightly upgraded version of my dead tablet. It will still take a while for me to save up for one though. My second birthday wish: to come across a totally legit million dollars :D

My tablet pc, which I use to do all of my commissions, has kicked the bucket. It's been giving me this screen:

After speaking to some computer savvy people, I know that I need to get a new hard drive for the tablet to have a chance at working again after completely reformatting it (if I can), and I need to have a recovery disc as well.

Bad news: I bought this tablet pc used, and there was no recovery disc. The tablet doesn't even have a disc drive, and I don't have an external one to use.

Good news: People are saying my files are safe for now, so I [hopefully] haven't lost every art file I've ever made.

So. I'm incredibly frustrated because I had just started working on 3 different commissions, and I actually had some real motivation to workworkwork! I don't know what to do about all of this, but I will call Motion Computing (the maker of the tablet) on Monday and see if they can tell me anything. They haven't been much help in the past with my particular tablet though, because mine (the LE 1600) was discontinued 6-7 years ago. Can't afford to get a new tablet if this one is completely screwed.

UGGHHHHHHHGH. I feel so restless because all I was going to do with my days off was work on digital art, and now I'm just pacing around because I can't :( I need an outlet for my art, gahhh. And traditional just isn't cutting it for the things that I need to work on :/ I feel like a musician who has just been robbed of everything musical...I literally don't know what to do with myself, ha.

Either way, I am going to do my best to fine the quickest solution to this problem, and I'll keep you all updated!

I don't suppose anyone has a spare Wacom-enabled tablet pc lying around, do they? Lol

I'll be leaving for NC on a train tomorrow to go see my parents and my little sister :D Haven't seen my parent's since March, and I haven't seen my sister in almost 2 years (which is the longest I've ever gone without seeing her, and I miss her to pieces).

The train ride will be about 14 hours long, but it's still better than flying alone on a plane with my panic attacks, heh. My parents rented a cabin in Montreat, which is in the mountains near Asheville. I'm looking forward to some cooler weather and less humidity than what we've been having here in Florida, and I'm crossing my fingers that I get to see the leaves change! I miss that so much. Never realized how fond I was of that part of fall until I moved away from it.

I should have plenty of time to work on commissions while I'm there :3 Not sure how the internet will be though, so I guess we'll see if I actually get to post anything! I'll be getting back the morning of the 26th, just in time for Elliot's Fall Festival that evening :) Hope to see some of you guys there!

I'll try to make this the least confusing that I can, so here is what happened:

- Got a notification on my Dell Inspiron laptop last week that my Windows activation key would expire October 4
- Wasn't sure why that would be happening b/c my laptop isn;t even a year old and has a legit copy of Windows 8, so I left it alone

- Called Dell Support and they said this is all because I did not activate my Windows key within 90 days of purchasing the laptop. I was never prompted to do so and on all other laptops I have owned this was not required...
- Dell Support said that they have to fix this remotely, and that it will cost me $150-$239. I do not have that kind of money to give them, so I had to decline this service.
- Dell also said that if I don't have them fix this software problem, it can corrupt other things on my laptop and may eventually cause the computer to crash and fail.

Does anyone have any experience with this? I feel like there should be an easier solution here, since it was just a matter of me not activating Windows within the 90 days...

Any advice is greatly appreciated <3

I just started a new job where I am titled a kennel technician at an animal hospital (which I've done before), but at this new place I am required to learn all of the duties of a vet tech. This is awesome, because it gives me a great opportunity for growth in the company!

BUT

I found out today that I get kind of squeamish when I see a scalpel slice through skin and fat D: I think it's a normal reaction to have, but I need to figure out a way to not let it bother me, or else I'm doomed at this job.

I'm fine with blood, it's but seeing surgical instruments slicing through tissue/fat, cutting off tumors, messing with eyeballs, dealing with other bodily fluids that really gets me feeling nauseous and light-headed (and I don't know why lol, I've watched surgical videos many times and been fine!). Maybe it's because now I'm actually part of it, right next to the surgery?

I literally have to be ok with holding intestines out of the way while the doctor does particular surgeries to remove foreign objects, help with ruptures, etc, or I will not make it at this job.

So, anyone who has a similar job, with animals or people, how do you find a "zen" place in your mind, where the blood and guts don't really affect you? I would be very grateful for any advice you have to give <3

Looking at these character sheets makes me realize how much I need to loosen up my lines!

She was put to sleep about an hour ago. I stayed with her through the whole thing. I don't remember the last time I cried this much..

I'll write something better later; I've got to go rest

I'm not sure how long she has left before I have to make the extremely difficult decision of putting her to sleep. The open sores on her foot and the tumors on her lymph nodes have gotten considerably worse, and she has been having a lot of trouble with her mobility.

I watch her every day to see if she still appears to be enjoying herself, and thus far, in spite of her cancer and wounds, she still displays a strong will to live. Her appetite is still very good, and she is always eager to come out of her cage to explore the room. I know that her foot must hurt her to an extent, but she hasn't shown the key signals that an animal normally does when it knows it's nearing the end of its life.

Tonight though, when checking her foot, I smelled infection. I've done everything I can to keep her wounds clean multiple times a day with betadine soaks and silver sulfadiazine, and she has been on Prednisone (a steroid) for weeks now. I'm going to ask the head vet at work if there is an antibiotic she can take alongside the Prednisone, and hope for the best.

However, even if an antibiotic is prescribed to her, I don't know that she has much time left. It's very difficult to see her slowly get worse, and when she is ready to go, I will take her to be put to sleep :( I will be here to tend to her needs until the very end. Sometimes I wish that she could just go peacefully in her sleep, but in this situation that probably won't happen.

I just wish this wasn't so hard to go through...
That sounds so selfish when I think about it, because I'm not the one going through the deterioration of cancer, but my empathy for her is so strong it overwhelms me sometimes :(
