So I am supposed to go on my first out of the country trip this summer. It is a 3 week long Australia biology trip, counting as 2 field courses for my college major. I have already started paying deposits for it, so I cannot get a refund. (And yeah I'll be paying back student loans for the rest of eternity, maybe with a few of my organs after I die lol.)
Here is the catch: I MUST be scuba certified to be able to go. I took a scuba class last semester, and after the courses you are supposed to go on 4 open water dives to receive your certification. This was supposed to happen over xmas break, but because of some extenuating circumstances involving our teacher, it didn't. I have to get certified before May 5. I have called scuba places everywhere about their certification trips, and they all go to Florida up until the weather gets warm enough to warm the water here in NC, which is in June.
So....our scuba trip is now supposed to take place March 6 and 7 in Crystal River, Florida. Those are just the dive days though. I will need to stay the night the 5th after driving there, and maybe the night of the 7th because I will be exhausted. So altogether 3-4 nights. My roommate can no longer go with me because her financial aid was cancelled. Alone, with room, gas, and the $250 certification fee, this trip would cost me around $700, which I cannot do.
If there is anyone who lives near Crystal River, or knows a nice fur or two that do, please let me know. I have a friend or two that could come with me, or not, if there is a way to lessen the expenses, so again if anyone knows of people who would like to have some AWESOME roomies for a couple of nights, pleeeease let me know! Sorry bout the overload of bat pictures...I just loved the fact that these were wild bats and I was able to capture them in these photos...so I tried to narrow down my favorites as much as I could...and still came up with several I had to post. X3

You may or may not have heard of it, but "Arashi no Yoru Ni" or "Stormy Night" is a small masterpiece in my eyes. I just caught wind of the movie, which was released in 2005, about the story of true friendship and sacrifice between two would-be natural enemies, a wolf and a goat. The general plot seemed at first to be aimed at a younger audience, but as I watched, I realized this film had some very serious themes about just how far one is willing to go for a true friendship. The scenery as well as the score for this movie are both equally beautiful, and I think this film really deserves more audience. Please take the time to watch it, whether on youtube or by downloading the torrent. I watched a very well-done unofficial english redub, but the original dialogue is also available on youtube, with english subtitles. The redub team even has an account here on FA!

Since art usually helps ease my mind, I have been attempting to color a line art piece I quickly drew in pen a while back. I'm coloring with the touch-pad on my laptop, so definitely don't expect it to be done well, lol. Just messing around with photoshop some. I'll probably post it tonight when I have gotten too frustrated with photoshop, or when I'm somewhat satisfied :3

Just finished registering for FWA. This will be my first con ever, and I am more excited than you guys could imagine! I am trying to figure out how many nights a few of us should plan to stay at FWA...I cannot find the schedule for FWA's events anywhere on the site, and I do not know if we should reserve a room through Saturday night and leave Sunday afternoon, or stay through Sunday night and leave Monday. Does anyone know if there is a lot going on Sunday night, or where I can find a schedule of events? Any help is mucho appreciated ^-^

Since my Dad's scanner is not working very well with my colors, I will not be posting any other color drawings of mine until I return home, or at least until I find a better scanner laying around X3 My Christmas drawing to all of you is now posted, featuring Remy and an unfinalized version of my Lox (the colors will be a bit different in her final form.)

I saw The Road with my sister on Christmas Eve. It was very well made, and very close to the book. Its scenes of cannibalism had the intended effect of being disturbing, not "scary". The acting was superb, and overall it was quite involving. I would recommend seeing this movie if it is playing in a theater near you. Look it up on IMDB for a synopsis, or better yet, read the book and then go see it. Be prepared though, for it is meant to be a very bleak rendering of our possible future here on earth.

I have been rendered speechless. Within the small IMAX theater, I was taken into the Navi's world, and I did not want to leave, ever. Their way of life is what I have longed for, for my entire life. As I left the theater, I felt extremely displaced, looking at the dull city as it passed by outside of the car. Most things here are such the opposite of how I wish they were. I long to be connected with nature the way the Navi were. The need that I feel in my very for that connection is painful to bear because as a whole, the human race is only distancing us from it more. I truly wish that we could go back to living with nature, as the Native Americans did. There would be sacrifice to humans, what without medical advances and technologies...but really, we would be the only ones at a disadvantage. The rest of the earth's creatures would be much better off if we had never developed half of our "necessities". Ok, I'm going to stop my environmental rant now.
But really, I am deeply moved by this movie. I am saddened again as well, because no opportunity like that will ever arise during my lifetime. The world of Pandora truly is like my dreams come to life, and I wish it could be a reality.

I must say that they stuck to the book much more closely this time. And the wolves...wow. I cannot do this movie justice with words. Watching it was definitely an emotional roller coaster for me. The scene where Bella sits in her room and looks out the window as the months pass...that really triggered some heavy emotions in me. Does anyone know of the cheapest place to get copic marker sets? Do these sets come with blenders or do you have to buy these separately? If anyone wants to donate any I'll draw you an awesome picture X3 (Heh, I can dream, can't I?)

I dreamed that I had ordered my first fursuit and was waiting at the post office for it to come in, and there was a large group of people also sitting around. A woman with an arm-full of packages walked up, and we all looked for our own boxes. I found mine, and then glanced over and noticed that the majority of the people around me were pulling fursuits out of their boxes as well. I was overjoyed to be in the presence of so many furs (being that I've never met another in real life), and I felt like I had found the beginning of a really good friendship with everyone there. (Note: for some reason, I had a fursuit that I wouldn't have actually ordered; it was like a "demo" or something, lol.)
I hope that one day when I get my fursuit and can take part fully in meets and cons, the atmosphere around me will feel like it did in the dream :3
