Posted 15 years agoI think I'm going to explode from stress. I have multiple exams and quizzes this week. I can deal with that. The kicker here is the management of the apartment complex that I live in. I have lived here for 2 years just because I didn't want to go through moving AGAIN in Boone (I've moved 4 times in 6 years), but jesus am I regretting staying here. I cannot even count how many times I have gone to the rental office to talk with the management, only to have them tell me they can't do anything to help, or that things aren't their fault.
Ok, so each apartment gets a water and electricity allowance that is included in rent.
My roommate and I are overcharged for both of those Every. Single. Fucking. Month. Like, ridiculously overcharged. One time our water bill was over $150 when WE WERE BOTH GONE FOR CHRISTMAS BREAK. Most months though, our water goes over the allowance the EXACT same amount, to the cent. Suspicious right? Makes no fucking sense. I've been to the office, they tell me to go to the water and electric companies. I go there, they tell me it's our apartment's issue, not theirs.
Got a notice yesterday out of fucking nowhere saying we owe the office $277 in water and electric fees. Seriously? No. I will not pay that when I KNOW I do not owe them that fucking money.
Has anyone had issues like these, and have advice on how to handle the situation? I have tried being nice, being a bitch, nothing works. They've threatened me before by saying they will take me to court if I don't pay. I'm going to go to the office later this week for the 235482347058235th time, and I think I need a different approach to get this shit under control.

Posted 15 years agoIt's for my pathogenic microbiology class, and I'm very nervous. I have to do well in all of my classes this semester if I am to graduate in December. I tend to do that thing where I sit down to take my exam and draw a complete blank. Ughhhh need a cheer-up right now! D:
Just another weird dream...
Posted 15 years agoSo I've always had really strange dreams on a regular basis. Last night's dream stuck with me, so I'm going to try to remember most of it and type it here. If you want a crazy story, here ya go:
I was some winged creature and was flying away from a group of military people in another country (I think South America) who were trying to capture me. The scenery was rural, with patches of jungle here and there. I flew into a small area of jungle to try and lose my pursuers but had trouble getting through the dense trees and vines with my wings. I think at this point I turned back into my human self from whatever I had been, and started crawling through the jungle. On literally every tree branch there were snakes, monkeys, frogs, spiders, etc...but they were all on my side somehow, and tried to conceal me from the people hunting me down.
Now the dream switched to me being in some new branch of the military (for some reason everyone in the US was in it whether they wanted to be or not), and going back to South America to fight against some army there. I was captured and forced to either obey the other army or die. I refused at first, and then saw that they were actually not doing anything any more right or wrong than the American military I had been involved in. So I just went with it. The area I had to live in was an enormous greenhouse with a rainforest inside. Outside of the greenhouse was a land with sparse growth (due to fire and explosions), and then jungle in the distance. There were other people from the American military also captured and put into the greenhouse. Trigger (the actual person, not the fox lol) had also been captured and thrown into the greenhouse, and I was filled with so much happiness to see him because I had thought I would die in this strange land without ever seeing him again. But I was also sad that he had been captured and would have to go through the daily beatings and such that we prisoners went through by some of the cruel officers of the South American army. (**Note: at some points in my dreams I randomly just switch to being an animal, so that's a pretty common theme for me lol). So next, one of the cruel officers came in and somehow knocked Trigger unconscious. I was so, so angry that my vision actually turned ruby-colored, and I could feel that I had changed into a wolf. I stood over Trigger to protect him from this horrible military officer while he was unconscious, but the officer pulled out some sort of electrocuting laser and shot me with it until I collapsed too.
So I woke up from my unconscious state and realized that all of us prisoners had been called into action because the American military was attacking. I realized Trigger wasn't with me, and felt this sinking feeling that I might not be able to find him amid the fighting going on. So I disobeyed the command to fight and instead went looking for him. At this point I was the winged creature from the beginning of my dream again (I think maybe a griffin), so I flew fairly close to the ground, over the battle below, to search. The South American army realized I wasn't working for them, and they began shooting at me. For a very long time I was dodging bullets and some sort of miniature missiles. A few bullets managed to pierce my wings, so I was having trouble flying, but I would not give up my search. I eventually was injured to the point of having to land on a mesh-covered biodome of sorts, but there were men throwing grenades at me. I managed to crawl around on the top of the dome and dodge most of them, but one finally exploded right beside me, and everything went black.
There were flashes of being carried away, and then I awoke in a dimly lit train car full of injured people (I was a human again also). I felt sick to my stomach and it was hard to breath. I turned over and saw Trigger. He was barely awake, and I immediately hugged him and made sure he was alright. He was ok for the most part, and we just held each other for the longest time. I just remember feeling nothing but happiness, even though I was bloody and burned from the previous events. Soon an American soldier came into the train car and told us that we had been rescued. I asked how long we had been captured and held prisoner by the South American army, because it felt like months had passed, but the soldier informed me that it had only been 6 days. That came as a shock to me, but I didn't really care as long as Trigger and I were being taken to safety together. We fell asleep in each others arms while being transported along the bumpy railroad.
So yep, that was the end of that dream. Then I had another one where I was at a bizarre fur con, but that's another story...lol.

Retractable claws
Posted 15 years agoA goal of mine is to create retractable claws to go in handpaws for a fursuit. It probably won't happen anytime soon, and people have probably come up with ways to do it, but it's a goal of mine to figure out how to make them. Remy has retractable claws, and I think it'd be pretty awesome to have a set of handpaws with that feature :) That is all.

Need help on how much fur to buy...
Posted 15 years agoOk, so I'm finally going to buy the rest of the fur that I need to really get the ball rolling with my suit. However, I really am not sure how much fur of each color I need to buy. I'm 5'4 and of pretty average build I guess, lol, and I want to make the suit pretty form-fitting. Back from the bio trip, but sick :(
Posted 15 years agoTrip was awesome. Got to do some night-swimming, touched a copperhead we found in the woods, and ate some amazing food, to name some highlights. Buttttt yesterday I started feeling a bit sick, and today I'm pretty sure I have strep-throat again. I get it almost every few months, and one of my teachers said maybe there is some pH balance that's off? Idk, but it sucks :( Probably brought on by being out in the heat all day, then swimming and being in air conditioning. Anyway, how did you guys' weekends go?

Posted 15 years agoGotta be on the van in 5 hours for my mycology trip, and I doubt there will be much sleep in between now and then. And if you've ever been on a school van, you know how uncomfortable they are X3 So...probably no sleep in there either (and also because my professor warned us that he will be blasting 70's rock the whole 8-9-hour drive there lol).
Also, according to the professor, our first order of business will be to make a stop at the ABC store once we make it to the beach. I have absolutely no problem with this. We'll be there until Sunday morning and get back to campus that evening. Supposedly there's a TON of gourmet mushrooms to be found on this island (different varieties of chanterelles, oyster mushrooms, etc) and we'll be cooking them with dinner each night :D
Annnnnd the beach house we are staying in is right on the beach! I hope the weather is alright so we can swim if we feel like it. I'm not sure if we will have any type of internet access so you may not hear from me for the weekend. Wellllll gotta finish packing and then maybe get a little bit of sleep.

Posted 15 years agoOk, so I am watching Cartoon Network right now (it's good background noise, ok? lol) and there is some short on called "Avaturd". It's like cutout pictures of the people from the movie, and they are doing a "quick version" of the movie...and it's funny that it's on CN because it has Sigourney Weaver beating the shit out of the Blues Clues dog), then craps herself, etc. Kinda seems more like something from Adult Swim. Don't get me wrong, I love the movie Avatar, but I also love when really hyped-up things get made fun of X3
Ohh ok this is Mad TV (but strictly cartoons). Makes sense now. And now they're showing Bambi's mom coming out of a grave with her skin falling off...lol. Meh, it was funnier before I knew it was Mad TV. The end.
***UPDATE: My favorite episode of Spongebob from when I was younger is on right now. It's the one where he and Patrick cuss the entire episode. I haven't seen this in like a decade lol. (Note: I swear I don't usually actually watch these TV channels all the time lol.)

Biology Beach Trip and other stuffs
Posted 15 years agoSo the mycology (study of fungi) course I am taking is going on a trip to Edisto, SC this weekend. We have to leave by 8am Thursday morning, and we return Sunday. It sounds like it's going to be AWESOME because we are staying in a beachfront house, and the professor already told us the trip usually consists of going out to find mushrooms that we can cook, then going to the beach and drinking. Only downside is the looooong, crowded van ride there and back. Not sure how long it will take exactly, probably a good part of the day to get there.
In other news...my laptop is in tech services on campus, and they gave me an ancient, REALLY slow rental laptop while they fix it. Hopefully they will not have to reformat.
And also, I wanted to mention
derekpaws. I only spoke with him a couple of times, but he seemed like an awesome person. Rest in peace.

Posted 15 years agoSo last night I was just looking at FA, and all of a sudden windows just started popping up all over my computer. Then a window claiming to be a virus protection program popped up and (without me touching anything) scanned my harddrive and stated that I have 50 viruses infecting my computer, including ones that send out credit card info. Idk if that was just another virus window, but now I cannot even open the control panel on my computer, or go anywhere off the desktop screen. I'm on my roommate's computer now, and I'm hoping everything can be returned to normal on my computer :/ I mean, what the hell...the only websites I had up were FA and a job application page. Where the fuck did I get a virus???

Posted 15 years agoThis weekend will be my 3rd year volunteering (for a few hours, then getting FREE BEER) at High Country Beerfest. If anyone is in the area, you should definitely come. It's $25 for a ticket in advance and $30 at the gates. Here are some photos from last year (though it's supposed to be twice as big this year): http://www.hcbeerfest.com/img/2009/.....llery_2009.php There are actually breweries coming from Germany and the UK, and from all over the US, and there should be a total of at least 50 breweries this year.
I'm really excited because they are actually throwing a night-before-beerfest party at the location tomorrow night for us volunteers, with free beer and food :D And then Saturday night we get to keep drinking the rest of the beer once the fest ends ^u^
Sooooo if you're in Western NC and you love beer, I'd definitely suggest going this Saturday :) I'm going to attack the hefeweizens as soon as my volunteer shift is done >:)

Tablet help PLZ D: (FIXED :D)
Posted 15 years agoOk, so I just plugged my tablet into my laptop, and it is not acknowledging the pen at all. It is a Bamboo Fun Pen and Touch (http://www.gadgetguy.com.au/assets/.....n-overhead.jpg), and it is letting me use my finger on the tablet, but when the pen comes near it, the light on the side turns red, when it would usually just turn a bright white. Also, there is one button on the side which allows the touch screen to be turned off to anything besides the pen, and that isn't working either. Does anyone know if there's an easy solution here and I'm just being an idiot, or is something really wrong? :(
**Also, yes I have read the troubleshooting manual, and it says to test the pen by going to the Bamboo control panel. WHERE IS THIS BAMBOO CONTROL PANEL??? I've gone to every folder in the Bamboo folder itself, and I cannot find the original program that lets you test the pen. WTF.

Wireless router?
Posted 15 years agoAnyone have an extra wireless router they don't need laying around? My friend had to take one that he let my roomie and me borrow, and now I'm stuck to the ethernet cord again X3 Seriously though, cheapest ones in Walmart are $30, so if I can find one for less than that (including shipping), that'd be awwwwwwesome.
