Really? More BS?
Posted 14 years agoSo...now the tablet pc won't hold a connection to the wireless in the house. All of the other computers are fine, except the tablet pc. I was on the phone with Linksys for 2 hours to see if if was the wireless router, but it's not, so something is apparently wrong with the "wireless adapter" in the tablet. So yeah, I have no knowledge on how to fix that, or get it replaced, or whatever needs to be done. I guess I'll add that to my list of complaints for USPS tomorrow, since it was working fine before it was shipped to me. Never again am I ordering from a seller using USPS.
Alright computer gurus, how do I deal with a wireless adapter in this tablet that won't hold a connection to the internet? Lol I'm so frustrated and clueless right now, I'd like to field goal kick a USPS delivery person right into a tree. With lots of sharp branches. >:(

If I had a dick, USPS could suck it.
Posted 14 years agoJust got my long awaited Motion LE1600 tablet pc in the mail, after a ton of problems with address stuff that ebay has mixed up. So I open the package, and there is a GIANT FUCKING CRACK ON THE SCREEN. There is also some discoloration of the screen under the glass. So now I have to go through filing a claim with USPS (since the package was insured). HOWEVER, I called motion computing and they said the ballpark estimate for them replacing a screen on it is anywhere from $350-550 (which is more than the package was insured for). I really don't know what the hell to do, because you can't buy genuine Motion parts to install yourself (I asked the man whom I spoke with from the company), and if I were to order one from ebay, I wouldn't know how to replace it without fucking something else up. In addition to that, USPS needs to see a quote on how much the screen replacement would be. Well, I could either tell them $350-550 like the Motion guy told me and have them laugh in my face, or get a shitty one off ebay for however much and try to replace it myself (but I haven't been able to find the special View-Anywhere screens for this model there at all).
If any of you are good with this type of thing, can more damage to the screen happen if there is already a slight discoloration of the screen along the length of the crack?
Also, if anyone has experience with filing an insurance claim with USPS, please give me any advice you may have,
UGHHHHHHHHHH why did you have to crack the screen USPS?????!
Thanks guys.

Posted 14 years agoJust wanted to send everyone well wishes for Christmas ^^ I hope this evening and tomorrow are wonderful for you all! *hugs for everyone*
I'm pretty excited because my sister who had not spoken to my parents in 4 years (until a few months back) has been driving across the country from Washington State to move back here, and she plans on getting here this evening :D I haven't seen her in a year, so I'm really looking forward to this, but my parents...they're just so happy that they can talk to and see their daughter again. I'm so grateful that this is going to happen, and that we can be a family again! (Although I'm sure madness will ensue with us all in the same house again, haha)
And I will leave you with the quote of the day:
Grandmother: Are you all going to open presents tonight or in the morning?
Mom: In the morning. We're going to get drunk tonight.
XD THIS should be interesting...my mom hardly ever drinks more than a glass of wine, but apparently they got some eggnog to spike with some nice bourban tonight LAWL. (Though I doubt anyone will actually be drunk, haha.) Time to break out the camera...
*Dons a Santa hat and exits while bowing to you all from atop a reindeer's back*

Posted 14 years agoI used to rent Garfield and His 9 Lives when I was little. I have it on dvd now, and the life where he is a lab animal has always been my favorite (the animation style is <3). If you've never seen these, spare a few minutes, it's worth it! :
My other favorite is the life when he was a white cat, and loved the piano...the ending always gets me teary eyed though...

Christmas Wishlist re-post since it's actually close now X3
Posted 14 years agoKinda a weird meme for me as it makes me feel a bit selfish, but hey I guess if someone is secretly looking for ideas, here are some lol. The electronic/mechanical type stuff could be used or refurbished, I'm not picky. And if you have a wishlist, link me to yours! :)

Xmas Meme
STEP ONE
# Make a post to your journal. The post should contain your list of ten holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV"). The important thing is to make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
# If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) can get in touch with you. Your home address is not required!
# Make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your journal, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.
STEP TWO
# Surf around your friends list (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now, here's the important part...
# If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes one person's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use - or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free - do it.
# You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf - to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not - it's your call. There are no guarantees with this project, and no strings attached. Just... wish, and it might come true. Give and you might receive. You'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

Final word on my incomplete, moving, etc EDIT
Posted 14 years agoI will be moving to my parents' house within these next 2 weeks in order to finish the mycology incomplete from home over the next semester, and my only choice now for the other class is to find a class at a university near to my parents' house (either UNC Chapel Hill or NC State, which are both about an hour away) that will count for the same credits as the pathogenic microbiology course. I have to do this quickly, though, so that I will be able to take it over the spring semester as well.
So...needless to say this Christmas Break will be a hectic one, but at least I will get to see my parents, grandparents, and my sister whom I haven't seen in a year.
OMG MY PROFESSOR JUST EMAILED ME AND SHE IS FINALLY CHANGING HER MIND AND GIVING ME THE INCOMPLETE!!!! :D I'm so happy about this right now!!!!
What do you guys have planned for the holidays?
HA
Posted 14 years agoJust thought this was funny...Dreamworks nearly rule 34'd itself. Go Through all 7 images; the Puss in Boots one and the Donkey one are the funniest.

My future has become unclear.
Posted 15 years agoIn short, my professor denied me the ONE incomplete for her class that I needed to be able to finish schoolwork from home (with my parents) next semester, and then be done with college. This now means I will get an F in her class, and not get the credit hours. All because I accidentally missed an online extra credit quiz. I busted my butt to do everything else she needed, and because of that one thing, she said "You messed up, no incomplete."
This means I will be one class short on graduating college, and since I cannot afford to live in Boone any longer, I can't do that class next semester. Student loans are out, because you must be a full time student for that. So. My future is prettymuch fucked right now. 7 years of college, all down the shitter because of this one professor. And I can't talk to the dean or anyone else about it, because giving incompletes is completely up to each professor. So....fuck.
I was going to do my graduation walk today, but decided against it last week b/c I wouldn't be truly finished, with my incompletes and all. Moved it to May 2011, but who knows if that's even going to happen now.
So...this wasn't really a feel sorry for me rant, it's more the fact that I'm more angry than I've been in a long time, and I needed to get it off my chest. If anyone has had a similar situation and they know of any loopholes or ideas, pleeease let me know.
In other news, it is now turning into a blizzard outside. We are supposed to get like 2 ft of snow, wind up to 50 mph, temperatures at -30 because of the wind chill.

Posted 15 years agoThank you guys so, so much for all the birthday wishes! It means a lot to me :)
Now for a question: should I buy this at the "buy it now" price, or wait and try to bid for a cheaper price (no one has bid on it yet): http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl.....ht_3044wt_1139
I know in the end it's really up to me, but since I've never gotten anything off of ebay, I just wanted to hear some opinions. It's been upgraded to Windows 7 and awesomely 2.5 gigs of ram, which I really wanted, I just don't know if I should risk waiting it out and bidding to see if I can get it at a cheaper price, or just buying it right now.

Electronics question
Posted 15 years agoI'm looking at an LE1600 tablet pc on ebay that comes with Windows 7, lots of ram, etc, so I really want it, but it has a few "stuck" pixels (not dead, they are just always red apparently) on the side. I was wondering if any of you computer-savvy people knew if have a few stuck pixels is a sign of more stuck or dead pixels in the future, or if that really has nothing to do with whether the screen will get any more stuck/dead pixels? I figured I'd ask around, since this seller has a "no return" policy.

HOLY SHIT I want one of these DINO suits...
Posted 15 years agoOmg the rex is adorable. These are actual suits (the magic reeeally gets ruined at 1:29 lol). Now, if they can just figure out a way to hide the legs...these would be perfect.
Annnnnnd here's what they're for (a "Walking with Dinosaurs" show, which probably looks 10 times better in person, but still...I read some about it and those large dinos are 1 ton each, and controlled from behind the scenes.) Annnnnd I don't know what's up with the dudes in viking hats, lol.

Posted 15 years agoEven using a sniper program, I was outbid for the tablet in the last 2 seconds...by one freaking dollar. Gaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh. The next one (and one of the last that I've seen on ebay for a reasonable price) ends tomorrow...guess I'll set my sniping time to 2 seconds instead of 5 :/
Winning a bid on ebay HELP PLZ????
Posted 15 years agoOk, so this may be a stupid question, but in the past when I have tried to win an item on ebay I always, ALWAYS get outbid in like the last minute of bidding. I -REALLY- want this LE1600 I'm bidding on, but there's that one person who's been bidding every few hours as well. There are about 7 hours left on this one. Any experienced bidders know how to avoid being outbid in the very end?
***I think it gets down to this "one-click-bidding" which they say occurs in the last 60 minutes of bidding. Does that option automatically pop up on the item page in the last hour? I haven't been able to find anything more than the description of this option, so if you know anything more helpful on the subject...HALP! Kthx :3
