So today was the start of my attempt at getting a job in the field of animal care here in central Florida. So far I've been leaving a bunch of messages since no one seems to be available to speak with. This is exciting, but good lord I'm so anxious about being able to land a job here. Gotta keep my chin up and make the best of these 12 days I've got here in Florida! If I can't reach people via phone, I'm just gonna have to show up to these places and sit there until they let me speak with the person in charge xD

If any of you has any contacts at places that incorporate animal training, husbandry, or rehab, please let me know :) I'm also trying to look for any smaller establishments like animal sanctuaries, rescues, or privately owned zoos, so if you know of any please comment with the names of them ^^ Thanks guys, and keep your fingers crossed for me!

Thanks to my wonderful friends (shout outs to  xCHEWYx,  dsm_huski,  failferret,  kaifuchs and several others), my graduation present is to go to Florida for some awesome hang out time and of course ESG! Haven't ever been to ESG before, but my friends will be there so that means it'll be awesome either way :) And I hope to meet some new faces as well! Driving to Charlotte this evening, then getting picked up earrrrrly Thursday morning to make the drive down the FL.

So as you may or may not know, I just graduated with a degree in Ecology and Environmental Biology on May 7th. This was after finishing incomplete bio courses over the course of the last semester and having those grades turned in.

Apparently financial aid and the loan company I've been using think that I withdrew from school last December (?!?). This means my 6 month grace period after graduation, before having to pay back financial aid, is over June 15th. Instead of being over in November like it should, since I just now graduated.

After speaking to MANY people at the loan office and in financial aid, they have said there is nothing they can do, because even though I was finishing classes that totaled 7 credit hours, incompletes aren't documented as "actual classes". Which I DID ask about in financial aid last semester, and they told me the opposite.

I don't have a job yet (although I'm looking for anything just to hold me over until I can move to FL and get one related to my field of work), so how the fuck am I supposed to pay these loans right now?! I owe approximately $11,500. Wonderful. If someone wins the lotto, please let me know :<

So, as I have told my friends who are also into the awesomeness that is the new My Little Pony series (if you don't like it that's fine, just don't bash it here plz k thx), if I were on the show I would be the hybrid of Pinkie Pie (b/c of her RANDOMNESS and just...yeah) and Fluttershy because of her affinity for working with animals.

On this most recent episode I saw what would probably happen to me if one day animals wanted nothing to do with me. It made me lawl for a good while xD If yu haven't seen the series it may not be as funny to you, but normally Fluttershy is a very, well, SHY pony lol.

I thought I should write a journal about this so that my commissioners and friends know that I'm not ignoring them if it takes a while to reply to anything.

My best friend is going through a sudden, horrible illness and things have gotten extremely bad. I'm trying to help out both him and his family for a good part of each day, so I apologize if I'm not on here quite as much for a little bit. Or it could be the complete opposite and I may be on here a LOT just to take breaks from the pain of seeing my friend in his current state each day.

I am working on the remaining commissions that I owe, but the going may be slow because I simply cannot concentrate on much besides my friend and his very urgent situation at the moment. There may be vent art I post during this time, but please know that I AM still working on the last few commissions, no worries.



In other news I'll be graduating on Saturday with a Bachelor's in Science.

Inspired by the journal on flying dreams that  wolf-nymph posted, I was wondering if any of you ever have the type of dream that is so rich, so intense or passionate, that even if you wake up completely for a few minutes, when you go back to sleep you are able to go back to the same dream, right where you left off?


I have these from time to time, and they are always so filled with emotion, whether it be happiness, love, despair, fear, or anger. It feels like I am living my actual life in these dreams (no matter how crazy or unrealistic theme is), just in another place or time I guess, and it always makes me so sad to wake up because I lose that powerful emotion that was in the dream, and I often lose friends that only exist in the dream as well.


Are any of you familiar with this? Does this type of dream have a name (kind of like how a "lucid dream" is a type of dream)?

A collections agency just called stating that the $1000 my ex-roommate still owes in rent (this is also an old story for those of you who have been following me for a while) is still on both of our shoulders (we are both legally bound by the lease agreement). If it is not paid IMMEDIATELY, we are both written up as being in debt, and our credit scores will be fucked. She simply refuses to pay because she doesn't have the money.

Well, guess what...it's not my fucking responsibility and I don't have $1000 to spend. As a matter of fact, my $550 security deposit was taken away from me in order to pay for some of her debt already. So she owes me $550 already, which I don't ever expect to get back. So great, I'm going to have my credit ruined because my ex-roommate refused to pay her rent. There is no way to get out of this legal contract. I don't need this shit, I'm trying to pass the 2 hardest courses of my life so that I can graduate in May, and now my credit is going to be fucking ruined because of an immature girl and her parents refusing to pay shit they owe. I seriously may never live anywhere involving roommates again, unless I've looked at their credit history.

Fuck her, I hope karma bites her in the ass HARD.

So for those of you who have been watching me for a while, you may remember all the crap that I've gone through reagrding my graduation requirements this past year. After going over EVERYTHING multiple times with both my advisor AND the head of the biology department, they had me in the clear to graduate in May after finishing the 2 incomplete courses which I am doing right now.

I got a letter in the mail a few days ago stating that I still had one outstanding class requirement. Um, no I do not. This was ALL figured out last semester regarding substitution of some bio courses in place of others, etc etc, and everything was fine and dandy. But apparently someone filing paperwork did not get an email along the way, and so now I may be fucked.

In the large University system, things like this happen, and do not always get corrected. Here's to hoping that I can get this taken care of -AGAIN- and not have to delay my graduation, which I cannot afford to do in any way, shape, or form.

You guys know I'm all about rescuing and caring for wildlife, sooooo:

It has come to my attention recently that a LOT of people don't know that opossums are marsupials, and that when if the mother is killed, her babies may still be alive. It happens a lot, where a mother opossum will be killed from impact with a car, but her babies are still alive in her pouch. (I'm sure since most of us on FA are animal-lovers that you may be aware of this, but in case you weren't, or want to spread the word...)

If you ever come across one that looks as though it has only died from a head injury (not completely run over) and you are on a road that is NOT busy (don't want you to be hit as well!), approach the opossum and nudge it with a stick or an object that will keep you a safe distance away, in case the animal is merely injured. You can usually tell from stiffness if the opossum is dead, but look for breathing as well (the sides of the animal expanding and flattening). If you are certain it is dead, check to see if the opossum has a pouch (only females have them). (This may seem a bit strange to people who have not dealt with animals a lot, lol.) Depending on how far along the babies are, the pouch may or may not be evident, so you may have to feel around on the abdominal area for it. If there are indeed babies inside the pouch, carefully remove each one from the nipple they may be attached to (pull gently on the head, not so much the body). Put the babies in a towel/blanket to keep them warm, and then all you need to do is call your nearest wildlife rescue/sanctuary and drop them off.

Awesome con, had an AMAZING time. Although the hotel doesn't make too much of a difference to me b/c it's the people that make the con, I still think I prefer the Hilton over the Sheraton because it seemed more spacious and con-friendly, but the Sheraton staff were very nice, so that was a plus :)

Finally made it to some room parties, drank, danced my tail off, suited, saw old friends and met some amazing new ones!

Time for shout outs, and yes I will probably forget to post someone's icon PLEASE DON'T KILL ME.
