I use Sai for prettymuch everything, and I've looked online for tutorials on these 2 subjects, but somehow the steps they list don't seem to work for me :/ I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to

1) Make an image have a transparent background (with no ugly edges)

and

2) Put a colored border around an image (like if I drew a dog and wanted the dog to have a white border around it)

I tend to learn with very step-by-step instructions or by watching someone actually do it/video, and if anyone can help I'd really appreciate it :)

Ever had a parrot beak puncture through your skin? It feels less than pleasant. I can't use my thumb much right now (fyi it's awkward to type without my thumb lol).

Incident was my own fault. I was at work putting a severe macaw (named Velcro) back in his enclosure when I got a call on the radio/walkie-talkie that I use. I tried to answer the call while putting Velcro's food in his bowl, and wasn't paying close enough attention to his body language. I let my thumb linger a bit too long near his bowl and he got me. Let me tell you, macaw beaks are NO JOKE. The top, curved part of his beak went deep into my thumb and the lower beak pinched part of my thumb into a blood blister. It's been hours and it's still throbbing and hot. Feels like there's a nail stuck in my thumb, lol.

**Update (next day): I have to freaking skip work because my right thumb is useless today and I can't do much at work without it :( I'm really worried about my managers getting angry because I've already had to miss 2 days from being sick and from when I gashed open my forehead :C

What's your goal(s) for the con this year?
Definitely want to hang out with friends that I haven't seen in a while! Also, waking up earlier would be nice (I usually sleep in waaaay too late at cons lol).

Some of you have heard me rant about this guy, but he's finally gotten under my skin enough to merit a journal dedicated to him. His name is Mark, and he lives with  media,  failferret, and myself. These are some of the things he has done in the past few months, and when confronted about them, has thrown literal temper tantrums like a child:

-he eats our food
-he uses our laundry detergent, toilet paper, shampoo, etc and never buys any to replenish it
-he has NEVER done the dishes although he contributes plenty to them
-he has skipped paying bills, but somehow has the money to buy alcohol and other "recreational" things
-he blocks in Jeff's car and mine because he doesn't want to park in the road, which we ALL take turns doing
-he throws his beer cans and trash in the yard
-he smells absolutely foul from drinking alcohol and sweating, and has an odor like feet soaked in a dead animal's bodily fluids (no lie, it is horrid) and will not remedy this
-he COMES INTO OUR ROOMS at 4am to get items that are not his and takes his sweet time getting out
-he has smoked weed multiple times in the house even though I told him MANY times that I am severely allergic to it
-he runs the shower for hours for a "sauna effect" while he sits on the floor on his computer (I've caught him at this several times)
-he is extremely rude to our guests

This list could go on and on. These may not seem like much, but compounded over months, they get BAD.

Today was the 2nd time in 2 days that he has been naked in the bathroom with THE DOOR WIDE OPEN, after being asked to shut the door, because none of us want to see that shit. I confronted him, and he instantly threw a temper tantrum, telling Geoff (FailFerret) and myself that we were overreacting by getting angry. We don't give a shit about seeing a naked body (even though he IS gross), it's the blatant disrespect that he is showing. But yeah, he kept yelling and I finally got in his face (well, as close as possible since he's a lot taller than me) and told him that he is an inconsiderate shit, and that no one in this house likes him. And some other things. It felt good to finally get that off my chest. Later on he said "later, queer." to Geoff as we were going to get food. He calls himself a liberal and someone against name-calling in that manner, and yet he says that. LAWL.

THEN while Geoff and I were gone, he WENT INTO OUR ROOM (which is off limits to him, completely, because he is shady and because my ferrets are in there) and left a book called "The Naked Roommate" on the bed with a note saying "This is a gift for you. Stop over-reacting." We brought the book out so that we could share it with friends here and have a laugh, and actually read some of it. It mentioned almost everything that Mark has been doing, and HOW HORRIBLE ROOMMATES ARE WHEN THEY DO THESE THINGS. Mark is an idiot.

Anyone know of some ways to get back at a horrible person/roommate without physically harming them or getting myself in trouble? :) I want to infuriate him as he has infuriated me. Call this immature, but this has been going on for far too long, and it would be nice to play some "harmless" pranks on him.

**Our lease is up in 20 days so he's out by March 1st, but he still needs to get some nice karma action before then.

Ok so I was lying in bed checking my emails and whatnot, and all of a sudden my pinkie finger started hurting a LOT, from the very tip to just past the first knuckle segment. It's very swollen and red, and is throbbing and hot to the touch. It hurts the worst under the fingernail though; it feels like there is a knife blade under it! :(

It's been this way for at least an hour. I washed it and dabbed it with hydrogen peroxide, and am now icing it through some cloth. I -really- hope this isn't an infection. I work with birds all day, which involves getting their um, "waste" on my hands some of the time while cleaning enclosures, and I handle their food which consists of cut up mice, chicks, rabbit, etc...so I really really hope I didn't get some nasty bacterial infection from that stuff :/

Anyone had anything similar happen with their fingertip? I know there are a million things this could be from, but I'm freaking out a little bit (anything that involves medical problems under fingernails freaks me out because of the possibility of the nail coming off ughhh) so I wanted to ask!

Do not troll her as that will do no good, but if you do see your own artwork please report her so that she will not do this again.

Too tired to type much, but this is my 5th day of my new job with Natural Encounters, Inc at their Animal Kingdom location. I LOVE being able to work with animals again <333 There was seriously a part of my life missing while I wasn't interacting with a variety of animals regularly. The birds i work with are amazing, and very well trained to do so many things! LOVE THIS JOB, but I still reserve the right to vent about my tiredness, haha. it's not complaining, I just want to update :) Here's how my week has gone thus far:

Wake up at 5:00am
Leave for work at 6:00am
Start work at 7:30pm
End work at 4:30pm
Get home around 6-6:30pm
Eat and go to sleep immediately.

My body is taking a while to adjust to waking up at 5am, and this job is VERY labor-intensive, so I'm exhausted by the time I get home. During my day I work with my co-workers to clean enclosures for 2.5 hours, then we have 5 shows (the Flights of Wonder show at Disney's Animal Kingdom) throughout the day. 30 min to prepare, 30 minutes per show, then immediately into show prep again. It's a bit brutal while I'm learning all of the 55 instructions for each of 4 trainer options during a show.

This means memorizing the order of actions during show prep (crating specific birds, carrying crates to specific spots, baiting crates that the birds return to after their part in the show, and prettymuch MORE PREPPING lol. During the show, I have to release birds on their cues (some of which I listen for on our walkie-talkies, and others that I have to listen for from the people talking on stage). Thennnn I have to unload birds while loading other birds and getting their crates to the correct places. This involves a LOT of running up and down stairs and through cages while carrying heavy crates containing birds. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

8 days straight for my first week of work...5 down 3 to go!

I do hope to get some photos of the birds soon. The Andean condor, King vulture, crowned cranes, ground hornbills, a hyacinth macaw, and the ravens are my favs thus far! <3

I love olives. Especially when they're stuffed with pimentos. The only thing is, I would like for the pimento ratio to be a bit higher when paired with olives.

I could buy the sliced olives with pimentos made for salads I suppose. It'd be really awesome if I could find a jar of just pimentos, soaking in olive juice, so that I'd have plenty when eating olives. Ah well, maybe one day :)

I got a job with Natural Encounters Inc! They are known world-wide for their animal shows that encourage conservation, and they provide these shows for multiple zoos. I've been hired as a seasonal animal trainer at their facility at Animal Kingdom!!!!!! GO HERE AND LOOK AT THEMMMM: http://www.naturalencounters.com/

I'll be training exotic birds and raptors, which is not quiiiite what I want to be doing for the long run (I'm more of a mammal person) BUT it's a foot in the door and a step in the right direction, right? Natural Encounters actually has a ranch of exotic animals that they train, located in Winter Haven, and I'm hoping that maybe I'll get the opportunity to work there some as well, since this is where the large mammals are located.

Now for the (not so) fun part: Animal Kingdom is an hour away from where I live, and they want me to be there at 7:30am 5 days a week....so that means waking up at 5 to be out the door by 6 (in case of traffic on the highway), be at work til 4:30pm, drive home by 6pm. I'll have to be in bed by 9pm every night if I want to get 8 hours of sleep x_X But this is a sacrifice I'm willing to make to get my career on track. I will have no life, but working with animals will make it worth it!

This also means commissions will almost certainly be completed more slowly, as I will only have the couple hours before bed to work on them. I do apologize, and if this is going to be a problem for anyone, please note me and I'll see what I can do to make the situation better. Those of you who have already stated an approximate deadline, I will do my very best to get these done by then! I'll write more on this later but I have to go to work at the Italian place down the roooooad.
