Top 10

"Here's an idea.
One night I was so bored I actually ended up writing a top-10 fictional characters of my personal favorites.
AND I CHALLENGE YOU ALL TO DO THE SAME!
For the fun of it.
(Drop the name of the character, show/place they appear - and a little explanation why you like them - also if possible a little picture of what they look like.)"
I have way way many other favorites, but I tried my best.
10.
Abe Sapien
-Hellboy
http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k.....ehound/abe.jpg
I've always liked those slightly tragic intellectual characters that don't fit in for some reason. And fish men aren't really that usual as part of the main cast in comics. Not to mention that fact that he used to be a human makes me like him even more.
9.
Spock
-Star Trek
http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k...../spock_tmp.jpg
Baaack in the day, in the year 2000 when I still watched television,
I had a habit of watching the 60's series of Star Trek (that's 21th century entertainment for you) even though I never actually liked the show that much, but I liked Spock so I watched it.
He goes pretty well in the same mold as Abe, a different intellectual.
8.
Mask
-The Mask movie/cartoon
http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k.....und/masssk.jpg
He's the epitome of crazy and groovy, and a good dancer too.
I love the way he's overdone, a cartoon in a real world.
7.
Wesley Dodds/Sandman
-Sandman Mystery Theatre
http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k.....ndmanDodds.jpg
No, not the Marvel criminal or the Gaiman's Morpheus, Wesley Dodds is the ORIGINAL Sandman revisited.
He's just a normal guy with a hint of night-time mystery, and he has glasses. And a spiffy old-time gasmask.
And he's a tormented intellectual-- what is going on here?
6.
Hulk/Bruce Banner
http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k.....lk-od-2003.jpg
A tormented intellectu--OH MY GOD AGAIN. Anyway as a kid I always felt for Bruce and I also tend to love misunderstood monsters. Besides he's green, and green is cool.
5.
The Shadow
http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k...../theshadow.jpg
He's a man! And a shadow!(though not exactly) And he knows what evil lurks in the heart of men!
When I saw him the first time as a kid in the (corny and bad) movie, he was so awesome to me, evil yet in the side of good with a awesome coat, hat, scarf and laugh he was the ultimate badassery!
I like the comics too, though. He's also the character that has inspired me most with my own characters.
4.
Pyramidhead
-Silent Hill 2/movie
http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k.....ramidhead1.jpg (nsfw/gore)
I don't think this needs much explaining.
3.
Sirenu
-Devilman
http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k.....und/sirenu.jpg (nsfw/boobs)
One of the rare female characters I really like. Strong and cunning (with orignal design) without coming off as a bitch, and in the end she did it for the honour of love *wipes tear*
2.
The Creeper
http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k...../creeper-1.jpg
He's that sort of character that you either hate or love, and I love every bit of his awful costume and (almost) every version of him. He's unreliable, impossible to predict, seen as a criminal or as a monster. Not to mention that Jack Ryder is one smooth and sneaky dude too, not afraid to step toes for the truth and good!
1.
Predator
http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k...../predator1.jpg
He's monstrous, yet very human-like, you can almost understand their feelings but not quite. Muscles, dreads, awesome helmet and the mood to just kick your ass!

Dead cats and movies
Posted 16 years agoCurse you mother why didn't you let me fetch that completely fine dead cat from the road, we don't get those often. She did not bend even though I promised to buy my own kettle and only bring the head. Seriously when I get my own apartment...
But I saw 9 which was good, quite good.
Anyway, diploma work doesn't look too good but my pride won't let it fail. At least I found a place to go interning. Oh yes and I found "The Shadow" again! The last time I saw that was years and years ago, when I was just starting to create characters.

The lucky ones are seen with a sketchdump
Posted 16 years agoYeaaah, sketchdump. http://vauvakolibri.livejournal.com.....73.html#cutid1
Full of schooly pixely and scribbly goodness.
I've also decided to flex my poetic side, for I want to write a poem about meat jelly aka aspic for it deserves it.
Also you can still answer this here:

Art meme
Posted 16 years agoStole this from pac because I am bored.
- When did you start drawing?
As a kid. I really started to try at seventh grade.
- Which hand do you use for drawing?
Sigh, the same as most people.
- Which is easier to draw - male or female?
NEITHER but I generally have more fun with women.
- Which is easier to draw - long hair or short hair?
Depends on what sort of long or short it is.
- Is it easier to draw the head facing towards the right or the left?
Depends on the day. Usually I draw them facing left, this is a habit of drawing animals starting from the left top corner (because that is the spot where you generally point your eye at first).
- Is it easier to draw the side view of the face or the front view?
Both have their problems, but profile is harder.
- What do you have problems in drawing?
EVERYTHING, but perspective and mechanical stuff are most prominent.
- What do you like to draw?
Eyes. Large ones.
- Are you a traditional artist or a digital artist?
Well, I draw lots traditionally but colour digitally.
I feel better when I'm doodling with traditional.
- Where do you start drawing from?
The head circle is usually the first to appear.
- What is your drawing habit that you are aware of?
I don't move my wrist when drawing. When I hold a pen, the only thing that moves is my fingers.
- Any tips for coloring/shading?
Don't use Dodge and Burn for shading.
- How long does it take to finish a piece of art?
Between 30 min and eight hours usually.
- What music do you listen to while you draw?
About anything, I don't really hear much when I'm "in the zone".
Sometimes I put a movie going on and listen that.
- How long does it take you to come up with an idea?
Pfff, that's quite stupid to ask.
- Your favorite drawing utensils?
Sakura Micron 01
- Your favorite color/the color that you use a lot?
Light brown and all muted colours.
- Your favorite style(s)?
Noir.
- Are you satisfied with your current art?
Hell no.
- What kind of artist are you aiming for?
With my gun? Oh! Well, something between a comic- and concept artist and character designer.

Icon trade anyone?
Posted 16 years agoI have my main thing more or less finished, so I have time for a icon trade or two before going to bed.
Post a comment with link to your character sheet and expression you want and I'll do a trade if the character/expression is interesting enough.
(Sorry to do it this way, but otherwise I'd just end up doing a trade with everyone.)

Night adventures
Posted 16 years agoI spilled soda on to my keyboard. So my keyboard is dried and working again. It's 3 a.m. Mom's sleeping. I plug it in and start to work. Suddenly I smell this really bad burning rubber type of smell and get scared if my computer or the keyboard somehow caught fire (or otherwise malfunctioned like out TV once) so I quickly shut it down and pull the plugs. I sniff around but the computer itself doesn't smell or feel warm so I keep sniffing and searching around the apartment and suddenly I notice that the smell is coming from the open balcony door and think if somehow one of mom's cig stumps has magically ignited itself so I go there and notice that the whole yard is misty with smoke (our apartment is at 4th floor so I see it pretty clearly) and it's getting worse.
I look around if the smoke is coming from this side's windows but see nothing suspicious, so I put more clothes on and quickly go outside with my cell so I can call the firemen if some other nearby apartment has caught on fire, walk around the corner and see firemen extinguishing a car at our backyard parking lot which motor had caught fire!
Not sure what happened since the car seemed to be parked and I hadn't heard any crashes. Nor the firemen, sneaky saviours.

Posted 16 years agoSoooo.
After a week it came beack from the repair, it broke down again, for the exact same reason or at least with same symptoms.
It's back again.
And yeah, birthday went, I'm old now, baww etc.

KILLER SHREWS THE MOVIE
Posted 16 years agoI always knew there was a perfect film for me.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Killer_Shrews
Now I'd only need to, you know, find it and watch it.
Aaaand aparently Guillermo del Toro is going to do a film about "dr.Jekyll and mr.Hyde" and probably a film about Lobster Johnson which gives me something to wait. Also bought some dvds from sale.
Nothing gives a better impression than a quote on the backside of the dvd that says "this movie is very watchable, with competent acting and directing".
A watchable movie you say? With competent acting? Like whoa.

Icon commissions
Posted 16 years agoCouple of people have asked me about doing icon commissions, so to be clear I'll state that I don't have PayPal (it would require me to get another bank account from a previously bit unreliable bank) but I'm pretty open doing them as trades or if you really want to pay you can consider buying me a cheap commission from another artists as a payment.
So yeah, I'm pretty much unable to do direct commissions but if you note me we can talk about it.

Posted 16 years agoLots of thankes for your respones to my last journal!
It was nice for you to share your opinions with me, confirming some of my thoughts.
On another note, internet and drawing things will be bit slower with me for some time since I have a problem with my desk and I don't want to strain my hand too much.
But my WoW works again at school, which is nice.

Internet friendship
Posted 16 years agoWhere goes the line between knowing someone and being internet friends?
As in cases where you've only made contact via internet that is.
So you concider people as friends when you're familiar enough to do an art trade or have conversation at MSN or AIM or...?

Would anyone be interested on some icon/sketch trades?
As in something like this:

This is mainly asking for interest, so even if you comment and I won't choose you, don't take it personally. : D
EDIT:
Most likely won't take any more, but you can still ask.

Gamedesign and why it´s irritating
Posted 17 years agoAfter a month of busy studying, we finally started doing our first real game. Pong. Yes, Pong. The two paddles one ball about the first videogame ever made and the whole frigging deal. Pong. And for a non-coder like me, even that is really hard. Well, I keep it going.
Oh yeah, and with our school`s computers, I could do AMV`s! But I promise not to use this force for evil.
