Back...and a sick bunny
Posted 11 years agoWell, I made it through the week of FA deprivation.......barely. Had a very interesting time, and got lots of pictures. But I came down with some dread disease on the last day there. Like the touristas or something. Anyway, very nasty. And of course had to fly back the next morning no matter what. Cancun to Mexico City and then Mexico City to PV. It took 12 hours and was the worst torture!!!! I'll load some pictures later when I'm feeling better.
Oh...and don't bother staying in Cancun unless you like Miami. It's not Mexico. It's a giant modern, expensive tourist trap, and the tours to archaeological sites are really rushed. You're lucky if you see half of the place. If you want to see the Mayan pyramids and ruins fly to Cancun but stay in one of the little towns miles away from the city and take a taxi to the ruins. You'll spend less, see a lot more of authentic area culture, and get a much better look at the sites.
Oh...and don't bother staying in Cancun unless you like Miami. It's not Mexico. It's a giant modern, expensive tourist trap, and the tours to archaeological sites are really rushed. You're lucky if you see half of the place. If you want to see the Mayan pyramids and ruins fly to Cancun but stay in one of the little towns miles away from the city and take a taxi to the ruins. You'll spend less, see a lot more of authentic area culture, and get a much better look at the sites.

I almost hate to tell all you people up in the US and Canada, many of whom are freezing your hoo-ha's off, but I'm gonna hit Cancun for a week of seeing the Mayan temples and other treasures of the area. Chichen Itza, Tulum, some of the more famous and picturesque cenotes (where I will swim, as I've dreamed of ever since I found out about them so many years ago) are on the schedule along with anything else that catches our attention.
So after Sunday evening it's goodbye till February 3rd! Y'all take care. I'll be thinking about you. Maybe.......

Posted 11 years agoMy computer is acting very strangely and slow. I'm pretty sure I got a virus, so if I disappear for a while that's why. Gonna play around and see what I can do but if it gets beyond me (which doesn't take much) I'll have to take it to the doctor. There's only one computer guy here and he tends to be pretty busy so........wish me luck.

Posted 12 years agoAs of Oct. 31st, The State of Jalisco passed the Law of Cohabitation, which will come into full effect January 1, 2014.
Free cohabitation is very similar to marriage and has the same benefits of common-law marriages with a few distinctions regarding adoption and custody of minors not biologically their own and the fact that the parties execute a contract before a Notary Public instead of a judge.
The Law of Free Cohabitation grants two OR MORE adults (caps are my own), regardless of gender the right to make a life together. They can choose whether or not to pool their property, and all have the same support duties, enjoy the same federal, state and local benefits and rights (ie. social security pensions, tax deductions survivorship and inheritance rights, etc.) as married couples do.
Married persons are not eligible, and individuals may not be party to more than one cohab contract at any time.
Mexico's Supreme Court has ruled that same sex marriages are legal throughout Mexico, and it has ordered all municipalities to marry same sex couples, declaring that gender requirements to marry are a violation of the partie's Constituional and human rights.
All states in Mexico, and the Federal Government, are obligated to recognize the validity of marriages, civil unions, and now free-cohabitation contracts anywhere they are legal-in Mexico or abroad.
So now, for the first time I'm aware of the boundaries of legal cohabitation with full rights similar to those of married couples, are extended further than same sex, to include groups! So far as I know there is not a limit to the number of people allowed to enter into the cohabitation contract. I see this as the beginning of the future forseen by R.A. Heinlein, wherein group and several other forms of marriage are no longer odd, but the norm.
Now if only the rest of the world would join Mexico in the 21st century in this respect.
