Better Days Ahead
Posted 8 years agoAlrighty folks, I'm hard at work on my school stuff while I'm working on cleaning out my airbrush. I'm using a concentrated cleaner to do so. Anyway, I had a good morning and make a little girls smile by making her a zombie. Even better, she gets to be in the paper tomorrow! So I'm heading out to get a copy ;)
Anyway, my awesome day nearly flattened after a few heated words over a silly thing. I'm not going to worry about it or really give it much more attention. I have better things to do! Speaking of which, I'm working on an idea for a stop motion film. Granted it's been 10 years since I attempted (just storyboarded) an idea that got shelved since before I left Texas. At the time I didn't have quite the training I have now. I don't even remember what it was about. Only that it required complex effects that I couldn't accomplish on a miniscule budget (<$400).
Granted I didn't know all the awesome tricks I do now! In fact I can work anything I want to and now I can actually plan on making things that were out of reach before. In fact a few shots that required a complex effects setup is now way easier to figure out! In fact, I could just rewrite the story and make it new. Or just make a new one.
Anyway, I'm excited :D.
Hope your day is going good, be back soon!

Big Day Ahead
Posted 8 years agoTomorrow the dead walk and our runners run for their lives. I'll be down in the trenches helping our undead army grow to *motivate* our runners XD. So I'll be up by 5 tomorrow in the A.M. and see you at the City Park!
That aside, apparently a building fell the other night, might have explained the rumbling I heard. So yeah that a bit of a dozy. They sectioned it off, but the building next door had to close due to safety issues. So yeah, there's that XDDDDDDD.

In the Shop: Onto the next build
Posted 8 years agoI tell you it's been a month already. I have many things lined up including a zombified 5k run on Saturday I have to prep for for the local rotary club. Your's truly will be among the lumbering walkers looking to chew on stragglers XDDDDDD. So if you are in the Pittsburgh area, you can count on me probably chasing (shambling) after you in zombie makeup. I can't miss a chance at being a zombie in Pittsburgh, it's just one of those things you can cross off the bucket list.
Anyway, there is no greater feeling of the weight of the world on your shoulders than having an artwork that is difficult to let go of. I experienced this recently when I was given only a week to sculpt an creature to be mechanized. It was a long and difficult road because I had to rebuild this thing and found myself stuck over the 4 day weekend trying to get this thing figured out. Finally I said the hell with it and went through the process of shimming that dang thing and readying it for the bath in plastic. Granted the Worlds' Tiniest Fiberglass Room was elbow-to-elbow students and there was some HUGE molds walking out there, I felt relieved that my critter was simple and to the point with what it was.
I don't envy the poor soul whose sculpture was literally two feet tall, a foot wide and weighed enough that two people had to carry it. Never mind the all consuming task of cleaning the mold out and working clay out of the detail in preparation for a run. Nor do I envy the poor soul whose complex sculpture has so many pieces to assemble and in the most awkward of places to join everything, who spent the day assaulting my ears with saw to get a clean edge.
I was lucky enough that whenever went to lunch, a spot opened up and I stormed the table with my critter and got the first coats of the mold down. By the time I leave here, I'll able to tap glass in my sleep and wake up to a fresh mold by morning. Though I think the fumes would wake me and force me onto the couch XDDDDDD. Anyway, amid all the oversized pieces, I have a few small trinkets and things that would work nicely on my future table.
That aside I'm currently looking for employment. My family ran into some hard times back home and I'm in a bit of bind with the little groceries I can afford. So I'm looking for local work since I don't have a car. I have two possible prospects open to me, and a third option I'm going to call about tomorrow before I apply elsewhere. It's like Bob Ross said, you need the hard times to appreciate all the better times. Good thinking. Thankfully I have a bit to survive on for the next week or so, a local church opens it's doors to the students and they give away donuts, fruits, coffee and juice. I managed to snag some bread as well. That helps lots. It's a bit stale, but I'm just grateful for it.
So yeah, I'm paying it forward since my mom helps me out by sending me money for school stuff and food. I'm try help her back until she is able to find work again. Yeah it's a bit of a trying time, but its not like I haven't been down this road before. Anyway, hope everything is going good in your world and if not, that you hang on until the good comes through.
Peace,
- R.

Good News
Posted 8 years agoWell it looks like averted disaster after catching something of a cold recently, I'm just down to the cough thanks to some good stuff I was needing. College life is tough when you can't eat right. Oh boy.
Anyway I should be back on track soon enough school wise and I even have next Tuesday's girl already done and ready to post next week. So it's been a good day already! Holy cow.
Well folks I'm off to bed and getting some much needed rest. I'm beat after tackling this mess, I think had been coming since last semester ended. Now I'm off to bigger and better things. :D I might even start the End of the Year pic before the year is over. Most likely during the upcoming Christmas break. Anyway, I'm off to bed, night everyone. :D

In the Shop: R and D
Posted 8 years agoWhile working on my next animatronic creature, after my first became the property of the shop I worked in prior (T^T), I'm coming to realize how important it is to have a plan of what you want to make. It's easy to lose sight of something because "you think you know best" and it gets up into trouble. I didn't thoroughly research my project, or rather I relied on one source of inspiration rather than combining things like I should have. Now instead of a cat, I have a frog(?) creature with alien features.
Anyway, I'm documenting the course of the process for future reference. I do plan on making a few of my fave anthro characters later on, but this experience has given me the tools to make things awesome. I can't believe how clean my sculpts are now! And connecting with other artists in the field has only fueled the fires a bit more. I can call up anyone and ask a question anytime. Which is good because I sometimes get confused on specific steps, but I also found a way around it as I'm in the process of writing a book on my training up here to serve as a manual later :D.
More awesome than not, I'm now capable of making a fiberglass mold, which in itself is a useful skill outside of my current pursuit and can land me some jobs. Also my knack for welding and metalworking has given me an edge on things. I tell you, I have some awesomeness going on.
So what is in my future and what does that mean for my gallery? Well honestly, I feel like I can still do drawing on the side and still make pronz for you all to enjoy. Things will be a bit sticky while I sort out my job and loan situation, but overall it should be easy to find some good work.
In the meantime, I'm going to finish my studies and work on getting things ready for the big day in January when I graduate. It's already counting down and I'm onto bigger and more exciting things. I'll keep things posted as best I can. I will also be posting further on when the eyes should be available. It's a sticky time because materials are a bit tough to find out here, but rest assured I'm working on it :D.
Alrighty folks, got to do my laundry. It smells like car body shop in here and that resin is tough to get rid of, if left too long.
Cheers,
-R

After these messages...
Posted 8 years agoWell folks I'm back online! Thanks to
ardrich_keybus for lending a helping paw. It's been a long month already! I survived the filming last month, then ran into a bit of computer snafu and it was just *facedesk*. I have a TON of catching up to do!
Prepare yourself, the faves are coming!
Yeah it was a balls to the wall time last month and it's been a crazy month already. I've started propmaking and I built a war hammer, with my backpack on and the crumbling buildings I felt like I was in a zombie movie :D. It was such an awesome feeling! As per request, I will be making a huge sword from the anime Beserk, thank again buddy!
Alrighty folks I'm in the finally steps of my film program and I'm already getting professional ;) I have a professional profile elsewhere and I'm completing a rather lengthy resume to boot! So I'm hard at work becoming a working artist :D I'll post progress soon.
My eye making venture has slowed a bit, but I'm grateful anyone asked about it. It's going to be a bit before I stabilize, but I hope to start making more soon. I have to locate materials after my move back to Texas next year, so in the mean time I'm going to play around with different stuff to see what I can make :D.
Hope all is well where you are! It's great to be back!
Alrighty let the faves begin!

Offline for a bit....
Posted 8 years agoHad to check in via my phone :(
I unfortunately got busy this last month with class and filming that I haven't had a chance to breathe. We successfully wrapped production last week and will see our finished work in about 6-8 weeks.
My partner for my advanced classes bailed on me the last month of class and I had literally a week to crank out a character on my own lifecasting, then dress up. Fastest I've worked considering two of the three major molds locked and were partially destroyed opening them. Other than that it's been smooth.
I have new stuff I've been working on due to a tech problem I was off the air since the start of September. So I'm typing this update via my phone. I hope to be back online in the coming weeks.
That aside I past my classes and even caught the "eye" of a few folks with my very realistic brown eye I cast and painted. It's said to rival the best brown eyes made by ocularists for prosthetic eyes, so it looks amazing!
Anyway, I have to sculpt my next creature for school next week. Be back soon!

Happy B-Day Buddy!
Posted 8 years agoWishing my best bud
ardrich_keybus a happy birthday today! Give him some love, such an amazing and dedicated artist.

In the Shop: 3 more weeks....
Posted 8 years agoSept. 26th is our big day as our production goes to filming our creepy creations :D!!!!
I'm excited as I'm just about done with the Jack in the Box and ready to roll as soon as possible. On the flip side my old age makeup has run aground. My partner is dragging his feet on getting things complete and now I have to go in and replace all my molds, then recreate a character on my own face. But the silver lining is, that I'm stepping up to the bat and hammering it out before the end of the semester. So that's the good thing :D
I think I'm really making waves for myself to get through to some awesome opportunities. Aside from that, my fingers are hurting after getting chewed by the *$&#^! belt sander again. It's all good, I'm ok and grateful I'm intact. But in the process left 3 eye blanks damaged and unusable. Being a display it's important that they look their best! Unfortunately I can't save them >>. But that goes without saying. I plan on using them to test my paint schemes.
Anyway I'm off to get things done. Be back Soon :D

In the Shop: First eye complete :D
Posted 8 years agoMy first human scale eye is complete and clear coated, looking so awesome! I completed my second one today, with the clear coating tomorrow. Also I'm working on a larger creature set for my display creature :D, going to look pretty awesome :D.
Among other things, I'm working on costume design. Believe it or not I do sew, though it's kind of iffy at time, but it works for what I'm creating. So I'm designing a costume for my display bust as well. Tonight I'll most likely be sculpting as I have a ton of classwork to catch up on. It's looking likely that my big final assignment might come out of a hat. So my Thursdays have been canceled and I'm resting wherever now >>. I have to get back on track and get things done.
I have a few things I want to work on, including making a new set of molds of my eye master models. Reason being is that I want to try a different material to cast the blanks from that doesn't cause the mold to swell. Unfortunately any plans of running a pair today was scrapped as I loaned out my mold to help a fellow student along. So my mold has to rest for the time being until the activator has evaporated >.<. Dang, I was wanting some new eye forms too.
Thankfully though my instructor has been so awesome as to help me out. Looks like making eyes might be my niche and I can get good at doing them now :D. Big thing is right now I need to create a matching pair of eyes, which is challenging even for a large set. But I have an ace up my sleeve and have a way to get matching sets :D
My creature puppet is doing well! In fact I fabricated the crank that will go on the side of the Jack In the Box from random scraps. Granted we used foam board for the box itself and it began to crack under the weight (which was ridiculous because the crank barely weighs anything). Being my nerdy self, I created a H-frame inside the box to brace the against the strain of tightening the crank bolt. Now it turns nicely and it doesn't flop like a dead fish :D HURRAY! Also it frees the puppeteer's performance as we originally had a bar going through the box which would have been in the way.
So my inner engineer was kicking butt today :D. I'm so happy :D.

Winding down
Posted 8 years agoOh man it's been one heck of a week. My cart whom faithfully served me this last year finally went kaput after the mold ripped out the back. I have the replacement cart ready to roll and a ton of work ahead of me. I have to paint lovely creature I made in class, sculpt an old age and build a mockup of creature I want to make for next semester. So I have a ton of work ahead.
Thankfully my family back home in Texas has made it out of the way of Harvey and those directly in the path checked in that they are safe. So that's a good thing, I was worried about that. I've been so out of it lately that I'm just feeling rundown. Mostly because I have an overdue assignment I need to desperately complete. And I intend to make this disaster into a masterpiece. So all the best to my efforts!
Booby Tuesday should return soon, I've been inundated with school work and possible job lead, that it's been a crazy mess. Anyway, I'm proud to say that my new eye castings are beautiful and it looks like I might have mastered the casting process. The next half is mastering the clear coat which is the part that is the most difficult. Thankfully the first eye looks absolutely gorgeous!
Anyway I'm getting to work on organizing my tools of the trade to make them more accessible to me in the coming semester and following jobs to come. Anyway I'm off to the races folks, all the best wherever you guys are. :D

Hurricane Harvey
Posted 8 years agoHeard ol' Harvey upgraded to Cat 4 hurricane just as it made landfall tonight on the coast of Texas. I'm praying for the best because I have family down in San Antonio tonight prepping for the worst. Harvey looks mighty mean and as a stormchaser myself, it's looking to be one for the history books. Earlier tonight I was chasing online through fellow chasers on Facebook, to see what heck is going on almost 1500 miles south of me here in Pennsylvania.
The radar and satellite images are stunning, if not frightening. Harvey's radar images indicate the 18-mile wide eye has several vortices within it! That's unheard of for a hurricane, even if it's the first time hearing of such a thing. The only time you see that is in major multi-vortex tornadoes (that's a tornadoes within a tornado), where several smaller tornadoes are rotating around a central axis. Harvey's eye looks like a pinwheel of vortices, of varying size, it's truly something. Heck, I saw the tide flooding the pier where the statue to the late Tejano singer Selena is today. That's says a lot! Because there's at least a good 4 foot drop to the ocean from there the last time I was on the coast.
Good news is, is that my mom and aunt are out of harm's way. Bad news is, not sure about my cousins in San Antonio. All my Texas fuzzbutts, take care out there. This one looks to be a Texas sized storm and it's not messing about when it steps up one category before landfall. Take shelter if possible or get out of harms way if time permits! This one looks to have bad news written on it. >> Hopefully, all goes well and things turn out for the better back home.
My prayers are with you Texas!

In the Shop: First Pull
Posted 8 years agoSo my mold pretty much destroyed my cart, but not before producing a beautiful pull of this gorgeous cat creature I sculpted this last semester. Disaster struck in that part of the filler collapsed, leaving an unsightly dent in the flesh. :( Nevertheless I will return to the lab Thursday to produce another casting knowing what I do now about how to fill it in properly. The mold was a bit problematic as the back began to peel away from the mold in response to the skin shrinking as it dried, and now the filler collapsed most likely due to not allowing it to expand properly.
Anyway no Booby Tuesday this week as I have a busy week. Tomorrow is the tribute to the late George A. Romero and I'll be in attendance, but fear not it will be back soon. Hope all is well in your world today, been a long road. Unfortunately I'm having trouble with a fellow student not showing up for this most important assignment. I'm overdue on having this work done as of today, but the guy seems to have jumped ship. So I'm scrambling now to figure out how to recreate all my work without my master casting. I tell you folks this is harder than it looks, but I'm optimistic that something good will come of this experience.
Anyway, I'm going to do the best I can to get through these challenges as best I can. So all the best to everyone out there in whatever you do and whatever you pursue, keep climbing that mountain.

I tell you folks this is harder than it looks, but I'm optimistic that something good will come of this experience.
Anyway, I'm going to do the best I can to get through these challenges as best I can. So all the best to everyone out there in whatever you do and whatever you pursue, keep climbing that mountain.
In the Shop: Nearing Completion
Posted 8 years agoMy first display head is virtually done. Matter of fact she will debut Monday or Tuesday after the mold is locked down. I have a few more tweaks to make to her before she is ready ;). Among other things, my beautiful creature is getting custom made eyes by your's truly ;). I've already cast the master mold with an eye diameter of at least 1.25 to 1.5" wide, so she will have this lovely doe eyed look! Plus, all the eye detail I can throw at it! Muahahahahahaha!
That aside I made my first human scale eyes today, they are still in their early paint stages, but look good. Mostly they are flawed as air keeps getting trapped in the mold before they set completely. Acrylic is also super finicky, as it starts to set even before I get it to the mold, furthering the air bubble dilemma. But even at the that I might have plans for the flawed sets. For now, the first flawed pair will get polished up and used as placeholders in future sculpts, so I plan on getting wild with colors.
My current project is quite an interesting process, that I'm considering a few personal works after I close up the molds for good on the current one. I'm tossing about a few furry ladies for another possible display especially with the upcoming props segment next semester. For now I've got a few under my hat that I might work on upon return to Texas. Anyway, I should have some more new eyes by next week. So I'll be busy this weekend.
Alrighty folks I'm off to dinner.

Exhausted.......
Posted 8 years agoAC/DC said it best, "It's a long to the top if you want to rock 'n' roll". It is! I don't recall ever being this physically exhausted in my life. But I am, it's been a long ride to the end. I barely had time to do much this week and it ok, I've had to call off some things just to get some kind of rest. Thursday I intend to take it easy, it's been a long week.
On a silver lining, we got our master eye models and made the molds yesterday. They should be ready today, so I can get them. They are human sized as well, so I'm onto the juicy stuff XD. But now I can paint both really large creature eyes and really small human eyes! YES!
My first puppet came to life yesterday! I pulled out of the mold, trimmed it and added this wicked looking tongue that moves! It looks so creepy! We still need it's teeth done and the paintjob is far from over, but I'm ready to get in there today and kick butt. I even shot video of the creature in action, so I'll have to find where to post it :D. Anyway, I'm excited to see what other things I come up with!
Hope everyone is loving Booby Tuesday. It's my way of producing my own art while in the midst of this madness for class. Also a way introducing my characters a bit more :D. I can't wait for animatronics as well, it's going to be awesome :D. I feel that I can pull off some crazy stuff if I try.
Alrighty folks, I have to get ready for class soon. Be back soon with more artwork :D
Cheers,
- R.

In the Shop: Completion :D
Posted 8 years agoSo last night the mold opened on one of the most beautiful creatures I've ever made. Much to my teacher's delight my molds were immaculate and needed very little cleaning to prepare them for casting that has to be done. I'll admit I was nervous that such a beauty was going into the mold and was destroyed once it opened, but left behind was a perfect copy of the being that went in. Now coming forth from the mother mold will be copies of the original crafted by me into new creatures that are complete.
I do believe I've got the Midas Touch when it comes to making beautiful molds as well as crafting beautiful creatures. I followed how my teacher showed me and within 5 hours I had the new mold ready to roll. Pretty soon I can craft new things and produce as many copies as I so chose. It might be possible that I will create at least a few dozen variants of this creature before I leave school. Hopefully one a master copy to take home with me.
Anyway, the big moment will be when I finally paint her and make eyes, add hair and teeth. She will be complete. :D

In the Shop: Eyes and nearing completion
Posted 8 years agoOk folks a quick update on what's going on here. With our deadline looming we are banging out gold at the shop, we just about got everything we can into a mold and run as quick as we can. I'll know next week if my creature survived due to an miscalculation when we were running the foam this afternoon. Unfortunately the latex didn't set as hoped and it might cause the foam to collapse. So I don't know, it's going to be shot in the dark.
Anyway, we are onto making eyes this week and I'm working diligently to get the process down as best I can. No telling on how things will play out, but hopefully I can get it down right. We start the human scale eyes next week, so we are doing very large, almost 2 inch wide ones to practice. After that it's all hands on deck.
Tomorrow would be a day off for me, but I have chose to sleep in this morning to get some kind of rest. Anyway I have to mold my next creature and she looks amazing! I need to get that mold going tomorrow morning because I can't keep sculpting or holding off anymore. I'm hitting the gas and moving. So it's going to be one heck of trip. Tonight I have some sculpting to complete and maybe some time for drawing if I can. Otherwise I'm off to bed early to finish tomorrow what took nearly a semester to complete.
Alrighty folks, all the best. I'm off to get things moving :D.

Downtime
Posted 8 years agoSo I've decided that Thursday (my day off through this semester) will be break time to work on stuff I want to do. This way I'm not wearing myself down constantly with the demands of our school and the upcoming film we are working on. So Thursdays will be my day to relax and doodle more naughtiness that I otherwise haven't been able to. It's a lot of work in the shop and the demands can be grueling. I can't imagine the guys out on set working the 12-hour overnights on a Titanic-themed film somewhere near Ohio the last four nights. I also heard about an issue with pay(?), they were struggling with the film producers about payment for their work out there.
Watch it out there folks! They'll try to get you!
Also I'm happy to announce that I will be part of the Zombie 5k Run out here in Pittsburgh! I'll be down in the trenches with fellow artists turning people into zombies :D Fun times ahead! That will be closer to October, so I have still a ways off before then, but I'll start planning ahead. I'll make sure it's paid too, because makeup supplies are $expensive$ and I have college expenses!
Anyway, hope you day is going good. I'm off to get some Ramen noodles going on the stove, I'm dying XD.
Be back soon :D

In the Shop: Eyes and Molds
Posted 8 years agoSo it's been a long week and I finally finished the molds of my creature for our untitled ghost film. It's been a tough road to this point but I made it!
Unfortunately the mold needed some serious cleaning after the clay became stuck and I lost a tool (it broke) midway through. It was frustration after frustration, but I finally got the mold clean then started the latex. Disaster strikes again! I forget a critical step midway and my foreman wasn't happy. So I stick back to cleaning out the mold again, this time using finer and finer tools I forgot I had to get those pesky spots behind the teeth. Finally it looks good, we put in the stuff we needed then we are off to making the latex skin. Thankfully it will be ready for finishing next week, so I'm proud to see my hardwork is paying off.
I got stuck with fiberglass after having to move a mold in the mold room, which was on top of materials we needed >.<. With only 8 people out 15(?) there, we busted butt and get things done! YES!>U<
This week I'll be making eyes for the first time, so I'm already versed in the process of turning lifeless plastic blanks into soulful orbs. u So Friday will be a test of our knowledge and putting things into action. I get my airbrush then, so it's even better.
As far as tomorrow, I'll be down in the mold lab working on getting my bat chick molded. She's almost done, I have to smooth her out and texture her skin, then throw on the mold right after. I'll most likely import her pic tonight to plan her color scheme and hair cut for when I punch in the hair. WOO! It's a busy week ahead!
Alrighty folks, have a good one, see you next week :D

A personal journal XDDD
Posted 8 years agoJust excited right now, my latest work is looking beautiful! My teacher is excited to see it from the day he jokingly shouted "Put some f***ing clay on it!" to "Is she going to have boobs?" XDDDDD God I love my teachers :D. They are something else :D.
Anyway long story short, I'm working my butt off to get my end goal stuff done. I've been chatting back and forth with another artist on Facebook (as my real self) and got some pretty cool tips on things I want to do for the final semester work. Heck I could would on one now if I wanted!
I've learned so much about making things and myself this last year (officially one year in October), and done some incredibly wild work. Granted I don't really give myself time off like I should. I don't go out and party, I'm here in dorm locked in my room working diligently into the night on things I have and want to get done. That aside I'm stacking down things here in preparation for the move back to Texas. Though I feel I have an opportunity waiting on me soon. A fellow classmate predicts that I might move to Arizona in 3 years, XD. Wonder why? XDDD. Who knows?
Anyway I'm hanging in there working my butt off. I've have to make a new butt, the old one has a crack in it XDDDDD. Anyway, I'll be heading off to bed soon, hope you all are having a great weekend because I'm trying XDDD.

In the Shop: Midterms and Movies :D
Posted 8 years agoI'm completely exhausted from making our molds this week, but we are on a super tight (giggity) schedule! We should have had our test makeups done by this week, so next week we will be putting the hammer down as our preproduction moves into full production by September.
It's all hands on deck and we are plowing through one helluva of storm to get these props finished and ready for screen time before our September deadline. Our group is still midway through fabricating molds and repairing a lifecasting which cracked in mold. So we are behind on one ghost. We still need to fabricate the Hit and Run Body after we finally got the tire to run over the face. It will be a great bloody mess! :D
I've had to nix several projects due to the fact we are on a severe crunch. In all I have created a mockup of my business card which I will have printed up during 4th semester. Also a win my creature sculpt has caught the imagination of the folks around here. It's a bit out there because everyone is in snarling beast mode and I've sculpted something a bit more whimsical and actually beautiful :D She is quite a cutey too XD.
Among the many things I've balancing at the moment, I have my portfolio ready for review with newer work :D. Sorry if I haven't posted what I'm doing here, I've been busy trying to get it done. It's tough, but I'll post everything once my new page is up and going. I've been working my hide off lately, helping others with molds and fabrication as well, so I'm pretty beat right now. Moviemaking is a tough biz, you have so many hours to get things done and so many awesome things that get shelved due to time constraint.
Some good news as well, I accepted a possible part in the film as the Diver Ghost. Apparently the old fashioned diver helmet barely fit our foreman, so they needed someone with a long neck to fit. Sure enough I got called over and the helmet fit perfectly! So much so that the top of my head bumped the ceiling but I could see very well out of the window :D. So I might be a Diver Ghost!
The last semester we will have prop building, so at one point I would love to do a full body prop. Not sure what yet, but given my ability to sculpt like an animal, I can probably get something awesome going quick. Also on my plate at the moment is the fact I'm prepping to move home once this over. I still plan on moving about though, whether outside of Texas or in Texas is still up in the air. Most likely you might find me in Austin, though a friend sees me going to Arizona within 3 years XD. Who knows :D.
So it's go time now folks, I've got the pedal to the floor and I'm going.
See you on the other side space cowbody.

Updates: MIDTERMS
Posted 8 years agoSo school is progressing quickly and I'm working my hide off to get prepared for the final semester in 2 months. I have a laundry list of things to do, including actual laundry XD. I'm sorting out stuff I'm sending home and working on sculptures, so it's been a hectic week. I finally got my room into a good state in which I can find my supplies for school. It's been madness.
My newest sculpture is looking more and more beautiful, so I might post her soon as I will be molding her this week. Other things have been on my plate as well. I have been prepping to move back to Texas, so it's been taking all my time to figure that one out. So far I have reached an equilibrium with where things are in the room. This week I will be fabricating my creature sculpts and molding a bunch.
I know I'm very behind on art here as I'm preparing to open another page dedicated to the physical work I'm doing. I apologize, but it's like I'm actually working in shop and doing my work for an actual film we will be producing by September. I'm physically beat right now. But optimistic about coming out on top. I've made great strides in my sculpting abilities and I can say I'm excited by what I'm creating right now :D.
Anyway, I have a few more things to tend too this afternoon before I get out my tablet and doodle. But so far I'm happy to say that I'm finally wrapping up this mess here, so that I can get my gear for class and projects quickly. This will help because this is a critical time.
Alrighty folks, as Doc Brown would say "It's the future or bust!" So I got to hit the gas and get going. Be back soon.

Downtime?
Posted 8 years agoOMG I'm tired. Like dead on my feet tired! I had a mold go bust 7 times! But thanks to help from some fellow classmates my day off adventure wasn't all for not. XD. The ordeal of recasting my head in a lighter material to ship home was one fit for the ages. Whether it was under mixing, applying the wrong amount or making the shell too weak that the mold wasn't salvageable, it was one thing after another. I wound up doing everything wrong XDDDD.
I would cut excess material away and lose half the mold, I put too few bandages on the shell and it collapsed under it's own weight. But I had some friends join in and help me get through the process, from mixing things correctly to making the shell strong enough to hold it's own, the battle was won at 3:40 p.m. (I started at 9 am XD). Granted I wound up casting the new copy in the dark for like 5 minutes as a blackout hit the building, knocking out the AC in the sweltering heat and humidity outside. I was in the dark listening to alarms going off trying to figure out how much time I had before the plaster set up. Supposedly the building is also haunted, so I would abandon my mold in a moment XDDDD.
Thankfully the power was restored (and no creepy things happened XD) and the new casting came out FLAWLESS! Better still, it weighs about 5 lbs. and it's razor thin. To keep it from buckling in shipping, I packed that sucker so full of burlap strips that it would take some serious force to bust it. Granted, I'm not willing to test the theory XDDDDD. It's one of my best castings yet! Quite a battle, but it was so worth it in the end.
I need a rest I think I've earned one. It was a battle for the ages, moldmaker versus the mold XD. Oh boy. XD But in the end, I have an awesome casting to be proud of. :D
To make the day even more awesome,
plushybutt did a pillow butt icon of my cowgirl Hannah and it was awesome :D. Check them out!
Be back soon, going to rest :D.
