Update
Posted 2 years agoHey all, sorry for the lag on the comic. I had a ton of stuff happening, then I got an inner ear infection. oy. But I'm back on track and getting better, I'll have another update ready for next friday :D. I'm trying to find a good time to post as my schedule varies, but likely between 7 - 8 CST on fridays seems feasible :D. Anyway, hope you all are doing well! Also, my new studio is coming along nicely, I got most of the walls insulated and just need the roof and the side with windows. That one is a challenge because of the oddly spaced studs, so I'll save that for last.
Update
Posted 2 years agoIt's almost fall... and I got an earache. DX<
UGH. I hate seasonal allergies >.<
It started up about two weeks ago and now I had a huge lump on my neck behind my jaw. I couldn't even eat right because my teeth hurt from how bad it was hurting. Oof. Thankfully the shot I got helped with the swelling, but I really need my antibiotics and of course, the Wall of Marts didn't have it ready today. Hopefully, tomorrow I can get the medicine I need. I really should have asked for the pharmacy around the corner. >.< Thankfully it's not aching too bad now, but my head is buzzing from the cotton I crammed in there for now. Anyway, hope to have an update on my comic soon.

New Page UP!
Posted 2 years agoSorry for the delay I've been working WAY ahead of where I am currently here and I'm having to stop to finish XD. Anyway enjoy, it's a HUGE page.
I did a thing XD
Posted 2 years agoSo I added a banner to my profile. I did that XD.
Progress is a bit slow only because my schedule changes a lot, but that's good thing. It keeps me on my toes. Anyway I'm taking the next page of the comic as well, I should have that one done soon(ish). Lately just working on fun stuff to keep my mood up as we hit a bit of a rough patch in my family life. Its a bit turbulent for the moment, but I'll get by. Anyway back to the art!

New Page Up!
Posted 2 years agoAfter some delays, *in Ahnold voice* I'm back!
I had to tight up some the upcoming pages and I'm already head on the next chapter. I'm going to finish this, I will.
Anyway, I'm working out what my new work schedule would be. Be so far I'm getting the hang of things. I'm still fumbling on the cashier portion of things, but I'll get it. Anyway enjoy!

Happy 4th
Posted 2 years agoHappy 4th!
So I'm getting used to working at my new job and I'm just blooming in the two weeks I've been working. I'm back in my element and I can feel it! Not since I moved back from Pitt that I've felt this level of awesome. Also the weather finally cooperated and the heatwave running into 110+ degrees Fahrenheit for nearly weeks on end was horrible. My shop had to stay shut because it was dangerously hot with just two small windows to help cool it down. When it was designed, it was still cold, so I hadn't anticipated the summer would be surface of the sun hot, but I was counting on having a solar power system in by then to run some A/C. Anyway, I've been jumping back in and learning everything I could about my new job. Also my training in SPFX might come in handy.
It's all good though, my hours allow me to work on things I normally couldn't get done before. I actually have time to work on getting my shop up and going soon. Thankfully this was a blessing in disguise. I'm happier and less stressed, so I'm not working myself to death for eight hours and not have enough time to work on my comic. Also a new page goes up this friday! I'm going to make it nice and put it out soon. Anyway, hope you all are doing well :D
with love,

Update - New Job on the Horizon
Posted 2 years agoAlrighty folks, I left one job and looks like got another lined up! I'm so grateful for that as my first interview fell through. I'll be honest I fell apart at the interview. It's been 5 years since I had to do one. Anyway, I'm just blessed to have something come through. I've been busy all day getting paperwork done for the new job and I'll know soon enough what my schedule looks like. I'm hoping to keep the Friday updates on the comic.
Thankfully it's in town, so I'm not blowing 2+ hours of my day driving 30 miles back and forth to my old job. Worse was the days I had to go 5 - 6 hours early because my ride had to be in at 4 in the morning, so I'd sleep in the car on those days when we worked the same day. Also, all the gas money I save can finally be put towards supplies for my studio, the added bonus being that I got more time for my studio and my comic :D. Especially now since they are predicting 100+ degree weather and I desperately need A/C as well as power to run everything in the studio.
I'll know more in a few days as my background check is going on. So likely by this sunday to next tuesday will be my first day. Anyway, wish me luck. Also, my bday is around the corner on the 21st. I have to cook something fun up for it XD.
Alrighty, night night!

Update
Posted 2 years agoOk folks, today starts my permanent vacation XD. As of last night, I resigned from my day job because things were getting bad. My vacation was denied so my boss could take his 15th or 20th this week and next week, pay for some got cut pretty bad, and it just wasn't worth all the driving to the next town anymore. So, I quit before they had a chance to cut us at the bottom as it's coming, since the big dogs were already ousted and it's only a matter of time before they got us at the bottom. I'm taking a week off to recover because I'm just burnt out.
The upside is that I got ahead on the comic and I'm about 15 - 20 pages ahead of where I am currently. So, I'll have a bunch of pages ready to paint soon after some editing and tightening, it's going to be awesome. I'm going to finish up my studio while I'm resting and start my job search soon enough, got to keep the lights on.
Also I noticed my process is improving. I changed the way I paint entirely, by switching the shading portion and the coloring portion with each other. Like the old masters, I paint the shadows first as it makes me think about where the light source is, rather than guessing about it later after the color. It makes it really pop when the color goes in next. Also I've made excellent use of the select tool as well, allowing me to paint multiple sections at once. This was one of the major pitfalls when I was doing the YCH with multiple characters, as each character had their own set of layers that ate up memory or even crashed the program from how many there were. Now I can paint multiple characters at once which is why I'm a bit slow right now because of the huge crowd settings I'm working on right now.
Anyway be back soon :D.

Bleh.
Posted 2 years agoI just got over a chest cold and it's back for round 2 >.< I'm tired of coughing. I'm tired of my throat being sore. I'm just tired in general.
Also, no update this week as I'm seeking alternative employment at the moment. Long story short, our company got bought out by some Wall Street heavy hitters and they started cleaning house. A lot of good people lost their position and its looking like I won't get my paid time off. Not sure what's happening there as I was looking forward to a vacation right before my birthday this month. I'm less than happy at the moment, I think that's why I'm feeling so horrible health wise. Also we are supposed to meet our new manager soon, so i'm getting ready to brace for the worst.
I've been through these buyouts before and even closed a store, I'm just a number on a ledger somewhere. That's ok, because my new studio is ready to rock. I'm getting small A/C unit to keep my cool out there as I'm running on a generator until I can get my electricity situation squared away. Tomorrow I'm putting in an order for supplies to stock my studio and I'll be ready to go soon. I'll post more on that when I can. I'll get to updating my comic ASAP.
Sorry for the delays, but this was so unexpected that I'm just scrambling to find something before they start cutting at the bottom as they already ousted the big wigs at the top. The upside, the manager that was harassing me got demoted and looks likely they'll quit. I'm grateful for that! I'm seriously tired of calling HR and my manager twiddling his thumbs on the subject. So that's the silver lining :D.
Anyway, be back with awesome soon. Just bear with me while I weather this storm.

Quick Update
Posted 2 years agoHey everyone, there's some life stuff happening right now. I'll be a bit late on the new page this week as I have some pretty hard news come down the line and my monitor was acting funky on my work computer where I draw the comic. It's not coming on but my tower is running, I don't know where to but it's running XD. Hang tight for a moment while we weather this storm. I'll update tomorrow or next week on the comic, hopefully I can sort through what's happening at the moment. Be back soon.
Great Scott!
Posted 2 years agoHey all! Hope you all are doing well and enjoying the comic. I'll try to get some new art out ASAP. I finally, finally got power to my new art studio! I'm excited to bring some new work to you all!
I opted out of a permanent solar panel setup mostly because of the cost of going completely off grid for now is too high. There's a lot of hidden costs that I had to factor in, including the batteries (super expensive), the power inverter with enough juice to run everything, fusebox, outlets, wire, etc. It would make more sense if everything was prewired and I could just convert it to run on solar, but I'm working from a bare shell out. So I bought a small solar generator to run basic things like the lights and few small tools that I'll be using. It's good for what it is, the built in inverter seems to be a bit noisy as the lights flicker a lot, but it will do for now.
Anyway I have work in the morning. See you all next friday :D.

New Page up
Posted 2 years agoNew page is ready, sorry for the delay. I got off track as I'm using a new method to color the pages and temporarily goofed on the process. Mostly I had a severe allergy attack because of the weather changes that promptly turned to a chest cold, so hacking up a lung bleh. Nevertheless I'm back in the saddle. Also I had to delay my studio stuff because I've been beat all week. In fact I'm putting in time for a vacation ahead of my b-day in June, because I'm just exhausted. That will give me time to catch up on things.
Mostly my exhaustion stems from some things happening at work, I'll talk about it more later, but it's finally getting resolved and Im happy.
Anyway, back to the grind.
Cheers,
R.

Quick update
Posted 2 years agoSorry for the delays everyone. The Texas weather has been wild lately, swinging from super hot to freezing again, then we got like three days of nonstop wind! My allergies have me wrecked. I started getting sick, then I got a chest cold after I got stuck out in the rain. The pages are complete for the next upload and I hope to have them up as soon as possible. Just bear with me as I'm coughing up a lung and dealing with my watery eyes.
On the other hand, my new studio is coming along well. I should have it ready to roll soon enough after completing a new worktable and making a new logo for my studio space. I'll be sure to announce that awesome ASAP. Also my bday is next month and I might be leaving on vacation for about a week to PA, things are still tenative at this point. Anyway, hope you all are well :D

Sorry for the late post!
Posted 2 years agoHad to take a break yesterday because I've been burning the candle at both ends since last week! I'm beat. The move coupled with a crazy work schedule and building work tables for my studio has been a job alone. I'm doing it by myself too, because I don't have anyone to help most of the time. Anyway hope you all are enjoying the craziness. I'll be back next week with another update as well.
New Page
Posted 2 years agoHey all! Been busy moving into my new studio out back and downsizing what I don't need since I have a small space currently. It didn't help the nurse may have busted the vein in my right arm while doing my blood work recently (nothing serious, just checking my A1C :) ). I think she might've bumped a nerve because my arm and drawing hand get numb when I bend that arm. I'm hoping things will heal properly soon.
Anyway, it's be a process! Anyway, I'm going to start working out there soon enough. For now, I have solar powered shop lights as I'm working on getting power for the other stuff in the shop and finishing the walls. I'm excited. Also keeping a weekly schedule for finishing the comic is a challenge. Anyway hope you are enjoying it!

I'm back!
Posted 2 years agoHey all, new page up on my zombie saga!
Sorry for the recent interruption, but we are back to our regularly scheduled programming!
Ok for some news! *news music*
Today's stories, new comic page is up, new studio in the works. But first here's Ellie with the weather.
Ellie: It's cloudy with a chance of meatballs!
Thanks Ellie. XDDDDDD
Ok seriously, new page is up after struggling a bit. I jacked up my drawing hand while putting together a new desk chair, its not my fault someone couldn't bother to check if the holes were drilled correctly. Anyway it's gotten better and not doing that weird numbing thing you get when you get carpal tunnel. I could barely grip my stylus, so if the art is off, I tried.
Also my new studio went up like a charm on February 23rd. They slapped it together in like 6 hours and I've been working on it since to finish out the inside. I'm going off grid with it and planning on putting in solar panels, since Texas gets some 300 odd days of sunshine, might as well put it to work. For now, I have a pair of solar shop lights that light up the interior. I'm sourcing insulation and what to finish the inside with. The materials are astronomically high! It's nearly $20 for a 4' x 8' sheet of drywall and that same size in plywood is in the upper $50 range. Ouch. I had forgotten to order the radiant barrier option when getting my shop built, so it was like 80 degrees in there today alone.
For now, I'm slowly working my way around to filling in the space. Its a bit like tetris at the moment because I'm building a studio in a building smaller than a one car garage. It's an interesting challenge to fit as much as you can into a mere 160 square feet, but a welcome one that I'm excited to take on. I'll keep you all updated on the state of the new studio as we get further into the year. My plan is to be up and going by June.
I'm excited :D

A slight freeze
Posted 2 years agoDue to the bad weather recently, I fell behind again on the pages. I had to go into work way earlier than normal as it's a 30 minute commute to work and the roads were absolutely atrocious! There was ice everywhere and every idiot imaginable tailgating me the whole way because they're to important to consider everyone's safety. Also working behind the scenes at the moment on another project that got a quick start, only to have a hiccup in the process. Almost but no cigar. I'm scrambling to get some important papers cleared up before it moves ahead. Oof.
I'll be back at it again tonight. Sorry for the delays!

Happy Friday the 13th
Posted 2 years agoYep. It's been a year already. I didn't think I would make it the finish line on this new page, but I'm glad I got it done. Anyway, be back next friday with the new pages :D
Running Behind
Posted 3 years agoSorry for the not updating the comic, I hit a slump post new year and I'm trying to catch up. I should have the new pages ready next Friday, sorry for the inconvenience.
Happy New Year!

End of the Year and two page update ;D
Posted 3 years agoBecause I love you all so much I posted two pages tonight as we are going into the New Year in less than 12 hours after this post. I'll have the next chapter ready ASAP and hope you are enjoying it so far. Thanks for all the watches and likes this year! YOU'RE AMAZING!
Thanks for hanging on for this year and enjoy the first eight pages of my zombie saga. Plenty more to come and it's going to be BIG! Yep, brace yourselves, it's gonna be huge XD.
Already folks, catch you on the flip side! ;D

Any (early) Christmas present and update
Posted 3 years agoOh boy I'm working for Christmas and it's our busiest time of year! So, I'm posting some art early to celebrate. I'll be ready with some new pages and new art for the new year when the time comes.
Anyway, thanks for supporting the comic so far, I hope it's been a fun ride up to now. I'm a bit stuck in the second act so I might proceed with the way it was originally written and will have it ready to debut in the New Year. I can't wait to show you guys to madness that's coming up, but I have to stick with my schedule otherwise it will throw me off. Its helped a lot though! My creativity is on fire right now and I want to keep the momentum up.
Also keep your eyes peeled for nods and easter eggs in the comic! There's plenty of them in the early pages, so see how many you can find :D.

Earthquake!
Posted 3 years agoDude, while going to get some tea to enjoy while I paint, I felt the earth start shaking under my feet. The pictures on my wall were rocking pretty hard and it sounded like a heavy truck was passing by for about 30 seconds. My whole family felt it as well. My uncle on the outskirts of town felt it too.
At first, I was seeing it was 4.3, but the USGS said it was closer to a 6. It was about 8 miles away to the north and everyone all the way to Lubbock felt it! So far, they are saying this was the strongest quake recorded in Texas! I've never been in a quake before until now, been close to a tornado, but never felt a quake even when I was in L.A. It was quite a tremor we felt!
Believe it or not, the Texas oil country is over several fault lines where oil seems to hang out. I'm not sure why that is, but it's there and we felt that bad boy rocking the state! I mean we aren't in a geologically active area, so when they happen it wakes everyone up. It's rare that anyone notices them, but it happened. Wow.
