Sprained wrist
Posted 9 years agoOwie. hopping a low wall shortcut, foot didnt quite clear it and stuck out left hand in order to not eat pavement. No bruising or unbearable general pain, but it's stiff and hurts to bend. Wrapped it, iced it, taking it to a walk in clinic tomorrow for a medical opinion, since they close at 3pm on wednesday for some reason.
in the mean time, this is probably going to put me behind on commission work.
And thank god it wasnt my right hand.
UPDATE: Got an Xray, waiting for the results. in the mean time it seems to have made a decent improvement overnight. Still dont want to be using it a lot, but its not aching unless i do something to aggravate it. hooray for ice.

No new commissions this week. AND COMIC MONTH
Posted 9 years agoHey y'all. I wont be taking any new commission slots for this week, and here's why;
The month of April I will be working on a fairly large comic collaboration with
Watsup . We've had this project on the back burner for a while now. It's going to be a fairly large undertaking, Ill be doing the sketches, inks, and panel stuff, and he'll be doing the colours. We're aiming for something like 20 pages in length, so this is no small venture. Of course, this will be a pay-comic, but take it from me when I say that it will be entirely worth the price of admission. Daddy's gotta' keep the lights on, yknow.
During the month of April I will be taking a slightly reduced weekly commission load to compensate for the work I will be putting in to the comic, which will optimally be done come the end of April. The script is already nearly done, so now it's just the hard work. This will be a very ambitious project for me, since Ive been wanting to take a proper stab at comics since the "Caribooty" one I contributed to
comicTF 's compilation (In stores now), but am really intimidated.
As well, I've been toying with the idea of a Per-submission Patreon, exclusively for the purpose of comics and the support there-of. Would likely include access to the planning resources, WIPs and Roughs, as those seem to be the bog standard, and Perhaps smaller tiers could have themselves added to a pool to be used as extras or background characters.
So yeah, I wanted to gauge interest in that. Im taking a bigger gamble here and want to make sure it doesn't all blow up in my financial face. Let me know what you think!

TOIS SLOT FILLED
Posted 9 years agoEDIT: Huge thanks to everyone who put in a form. It's very encouraging to know, and I will certainly be doing this again soon.
TOI Suits are classed into Skin-Type, Shell Type, and Rig Type. Each suit is typically designed with a job in mind.
Skin types: Just as the name implies, primarily a second skin with minimal use of hard surfaces. In event of merging with pilot, Skin Type suits are often subject to much more extreme physical changes to the pilot.

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u.....enix%20Mor.jpg
Shell Types: A medium/heavy suit of powered armor and synthetic muscles. Pilot is seated inside, and the addition of Nano interface gel creates a 1:1 control experience. In the event of merging with the pilot, Shell type suits will commonly gain increasing soft material as interface gel seeps out and forms softer synthetic tissues like mouth interiors or genitalia.

Rig Type: The largest and heaviest of size. Pilot is seated in a cockpit or external cockpit which is seated inside the Rig itself. In the event of merging with pilot, the wearer's physical body is absorbed by the Interface gel, consciousness becoming contained within it, the rig essentially becoming the body.

The sequence will be similar to the previous ones, between 3-4 images in length. Due to the complexity and one slot available, I will be a bit more choosy about the one I end up choosing. I WILL BE CONTACTING THE PERSON WHO GETS THE SLOT THROUGH PM

COMMISSION STATUS QUEUE
Posted 9 years agoIve been reminded that I've consistently forgotten to notify people who have gotten commission slots. It hasn't typically been a problem because I usually get the sketches out to them within a day or two. However, lately I've been behind a little, taking a week to get sketches out, so some people might not have realized they'd gotten the slot at the time. I sincerely apologize, as it's stated in my commission form that I would be contacting people who get slots.
For following commission batches I will be sure to notify those who get commission slots directly.
In the mean time, the commission list is as follows:
Kroxy 30% (Inking)
trouffee 20% (awaiting sketch confirmation)
xpsm140 30% (Inking)
tarossb 30% (inking)
AndrewNeo 15% (awaiting sketch confirmation)

Posted 9 years agoJust letting everyone know that Im not going to open any new slots this week as I finish a previous batch. Depending on completion, i might take a slot sometime mid week.
Commission delay notice.
Posted 9 years agoTo all those concerned, there will be a bit of a delay on commission progress. Our apartment is being treated for bedbugs, and I will not be in it for a couple of days. Work should likely resume again on Saturday.

COMMISSION SLOTS FILLED + PRICE ADJUSTMENTS
Posted 9 years agoHey there, everyone. It's been a while since I opened properly for commissions. Alright, so right off the bat, I've been noticing that Ive been spending more time than I expected on some of the full color work, particularly on the detailed TOI Suits that Ive been trying to push. To make up for this, I will be raising the price of Full Shaded colors $10 to $95USD so that I can feel better about putting more time into the detailed works and simple backgrounds.
Now, to compensate, I will be adding the option of Cell-Shaded colors for $75. A cheaper option for those who want a middle-ground between the two price points of Flat Color and Full Shaded.
Commissions will be taken on a "First Come, First Serve" basis, with 2 to 3 Slots per typical week. Those who got the slot will be contacted, and further instructions are listed in the Commission form linked below.

Happy New Year! -And status update-
Posted 9 years agoHowdy doo, and merry post-Christmas and a happy new year.
So seems like I've managed to work through some of the worst of the anxieties, at least to be back to relatively normal levels. Still occasional spikes now and then, but I think the vitamin D drops are helping a little.
New glasses are in the mail, so we'll see if those help with the random thoughts of being off balance, and looking into pursuing having a new Local Doc, as my life-long family one is both out of town and very close to retirement.
Now the worst of my focuses are on my remaining Budgie, who has a bit of a click to her breathing at times, and hasn't been chewing as much as she usually does, so I'm keeping a close eye on her since she's nearly 10 years old.
As far as Art goes, I'm trying to get my ass back on schedule, and hope to start the New Year with a Comic that me and Watsup have been plotting and entertaining ever since he Oh-so-generously did the colouring for my Reindeer TG-TF I submitted to ComicTF's "Polymorph" Compilation. I'll give you a hint; It involves Dobermen(women) and some other of my favorite themes.
For commissions, I'm going to look into adjusting my prices a bit for the start of the New year. Not RAISING them, per se, but adjusting the numbers for the different stages to more accurately reflect the time and effort. For example, I feel like I'm putting a lot more than a $20 buck difference in time for a Full Shaded commission than a Flat Colour. As well, I need to think about how I price Multiple characters, and want to look into more of a focus on backgrounds and how I would fairly price that as well, as right now I'm just throwing them in as I feel like I can practice them.
Some people have also expressed interest in options for Inked commissions. Now I didn't include that option before because I wanted to ensure that I didnt over-complicate my schedule and generally streamline the services that I offer, but depending on interest might add that option.
What do you think?

STATUS REPORT
Posted 10 years agoHey everyone. Thought that I would keep you posted as to what's been going on with me the past few weeks. The past month has made me an anxious mess, starting with a panic attack at the start of november, and continuing with feeling like there's a bunch of things wrong with my body, or that im dying. And anybody who has ever had anxiety will tell you its hard to tell what is causing the anxiety and what the anxiety is causing, so it all just turns into a big ol cycle.
Ive never been on any medication for any sort of disorder, and seeing my BF living through the withdrawal symptoms after being sick of the side effects is reason enough for me to continue not wanting to, it's just been really tough getting any real work done lately.
Commissions are still in progress, just slower than usual.

OPENING 2 MID-WEEK COMMISSION SLOTS @ 3 PM EST
Posted 10 years agoHey Y'all. Been a tough October for me. Couple highs, a lot of lows, but I'm trying to get back into the rhythm I had before.
So this message is mostly to let people know that I'll be opening 2 more commission slots for this week at 3 PM Eastern Standard Time. I'd figured that I would give a notice, as a number of people have mentioned that they always seem to miss out since slots tend to go fast, and also because I usually open slots on Sundays.
I'll be posting up another journal with the link to the commission form at 3 PM EST.
In the mean time, the current list is:
-Imuyah.W (80%)
-Varky (15%)
-

See you then.

Another of my flock leaves...
Posted 10 years agoToday, October the 17th, another of my budgies passed away. Scout was 9-10 years old, and still very feisty, all the way to the end. About a month ago he'd stopped putting weight on his one foot, so Id watched it carefully to see if it was just a sprain or if it got worse. It got worse.
I'd taken him to the vet last week after some little white cysts started to show under the skin of his toes, and had become obviously painful for him. The vet said that it was probably gout, possibly caused by liver failure, as his toes were stiff and inflexible. I got him painkillers, but had to wait nearly a week to get the gout meds since they needed to be ordered in, and his foot was getting worse. Thursday I got one of the meds to put in his water, and he was still eating and drinking, dodging, squirming when trying to give him the painkillers, still flying strong up to the curtains when he managed to slip out. Friday, I got the other gout med to be administered every 12 hours, gave him the one dose of it, since it was late in the day. He was still eating and drinking, but was obviously in persistent pain from his foot.
This morning, I find him on the bottom of his cage, eye open, deathly still. I didn't feel anything at first, thought for a second that I wouldn't, as I'd been fearing so much that the medication wouldn't work and that I would have to make the hard decision. Sure enough, once the shock had passed, it came.
Another of my flock passes on, being with me for nearly 10 years of my life, which people say is a long time for budgies in captivity, but he always felt like he was going to be the one to be with me the longest. He was the spastic one, the one who would always explode from the cage and do several buzzing passes around the room before settling on the curtains and panting for a minute. Whenever he was loose in the room, and I came in with a plate of food at my desk, he would make several buzzing passes, scouting out just what I was eating. Always trying to shmooz his reflection in the mirror, or preening/getting preened by his loving sister.
I took him home this afternoon, burying him beside his sister who passed away the year before.
You will be dearly missed, Scout. You were a jewel of the flock, and I hope you find your departed sister well.
Rest easy.

EDIT : Thank you to everyone for your kind words. Ill try and get back to work on commissions soon.

Got a HUION Tablet Monitor. NEED HELP!!!
Posted 10 years agoHey Yall. So i got a Huion GT-190 for my birthday, and upon trying to set it up I'm encountering a whole SLEW of problems, mostly seeming to stem from the drivers, despite having their most recent drivers. It wont seem to recognize 90% of programs I try it in; SAI, Photoshop, ToonBoom, TVPaint. It worked in MangaStudio 5, or at least until I tried to reinstall the drivers. Now nothing recognizes it.
NOW I'm getting a problem where If I try and use SAI the curser will lock against the left side of the screen. I read some other people having that problem and suggested uninstalling all my Wacom drivers, but I need to have my regular Intuos around as well.
Does anyone happen to have a Huion tablet? How did you get yours to work, or what is your setup?

Update: No new slots this week.
Posted 10 years agoHowdy y'all. No new commission slots today. Im working on clearing some stragglers leftover from the week before. I find that the longer I let things stand, the more stressed I get and the less motivated I am to finish things. So that on top of mounting self doubt, I want to keep a clear plate before I go stacking on good intentions.
I might open a slot or two mid week once i finish last week's batch. Oh, and to be more firm on taking on load i can handle on a weekly basis. Ive been letting my ambitions get the better of me.

Posted 10 years agoHowdy y'all. No new commission slots this week. Id taken on a bit more than I intended this week, and so I'll be finishing up the larger pieces this coming week at a leisurely pace before my birthday next week. Commissions will return on schedule on the 5th.
Also, Id like to thank everyone who has, plans, to, or considers commissioning me. It makes me incredibly happy to know that people like my work enough to allow me to support myself off of it.
Thank you, everyone.
