So as some of you know, it's been an artistically difficult month and a half for me. I still owe a couple of you some work since November and have been having a lot of trouble to bring myself to do it. Some of this has to do with having put it off for more than a week, and then losing all self confidence in my ability to complete it. Another part of it that came to my attention was that I've started to feel jaded by the sorts of characters that are asked of me, and it has me thinking; "Is it because I draw them well, or because nobody else will?".

And it's this feeling that has made work hard to look forward to. Looking through my own gallery, I feel like about half of the pieces in it recently are things that I can feel artistically proud of. Pieces that I feel bettered me as an artist and that weren't just catering to someone's very specific fetish. Related, but I've seen a few of my favorite artists pack up and leave, off to pursue things that make them happy. Some of them burn the bridge as they go, telling everyone to go fuck themselves and their awful characters, and while I don't agree with the vitriol, I can't say that the idea hasn't felt ultimately tempting at times.

So what does this mean for me? Well, I'm going to be dialing back on the extreme over sexualized characters I will be accepting. That means no dick-nippled hyper-herms. Id considered raising prices on that sort of thing, but ultimately I don't think that it's worth it, and makes me seem greedy. I mean, fuck, I want to draw clothed characters SO BADLY, I actually felt happy referencing fashion images as I sketched the roughs for an image for my BF's birthday. Just a simple maned wolf character sitting in a windowbox reading a book, wearing a hoodie. This gives me the sort of things that I realize that I've been wanting for a while; 'normal' characters, character in environment, and that will portray an emotion other than lust. There are so many emotions that I want to draw characters in that I just haven't lately; Joy, sorrow, contempt, confusion, rage, romance, bemusement, eroticism, contemplation, etc. Fuck, give me some more humans to draw! I feel rusty as fuck with those.

I want to be able to grow more artistically, to make pieces for people that I can feel proud of, and perhaps even show members of my family when they ask me how I've been, or even to a stranger!

People have asked me before; "What do YOU want to draw?", and I've rarely had a good answer. Right now, though, what I want to draw is more nice, pretty things, because I feel like I'm quickly slipping down into the pit of "That guy that draws the weird shit", and that is not a pit that is easily escaped. Does that mean that I'm going straight and boring? No, I'll still be drawing some unusual stuff, but I'm going to be preferring commission forms with the sort of subject matter listed above.

TL:DR (but you really should) I'm in desperate need of a break, feeling jaded by all the sex-sex-sex people ask for, and will be preferring commissions with varied subject matter. Weird TF is still okay, but less sexually based.

:EDIT: This does NOT mean that I wont be accepting sexy/sexual commissions. It just means that I don't want it to be my the only thing I do

Hello everyone. Sorry for my lack of progress this month. December has been tricky, and for reasons both in and out of my control there have been delays in commissions. This Sunday, for instance, I came down with a mean reaction to a tetanus booster shot, and wasn't able to do the sketch stream this week.

Howdy. Heads up that tomorrow's super sketch stream will be a regular work stream. Ill be working on cleaning up rough sequences and Telegram stickers, so pop on by.

Seriously, in the past month it's started crashing every 15 minutes, people are getting hacked left and right, and I cant find any good solutions for these problems, so Im rather fed up. Im currently using Telegram, and Ive heard things about Discord. Are these what everyone has moved to?

EDIT:So it seems that I might have fixed it; apparently skype is a piece of shit and has some sort of reliance on Internet Explorer, which in turn has some reliance on Adobe Flash Player. So I updated Flash player on IE and it hasnt crashed in a few hours. Yay, I guess?

EDIT EDIT: Nevermind. Still crashes.

Now, the good news for everyone else:
The past couple of months, since I instituted the new month-to-month commission schedule where I take forms based on filling a quota, Ive been getting a number of people who are, for one reason or another, consistently unable to get a slot. This is typically because lately Ive been taking sequences president over single images, since it means that I need to keep fewer open files and generally simplifies my workload. However, I understand how this might make people feel dejected or that somehow their ideas are no good.

So, for this reason, I will be doing Sunday Sketch Streams starting Sunday November 13th, with the possibility of a test run on Sunday Nov' 6th. My goal with these is to be a little more inclusive with the nice people who have really wanted work from me but haven't' been able to get a slot for a finished piece.

Pricing for sketches will likely be something like $20, depending on the complexity, which I would like to keep relatively simple as to get through as many people as possible. The Tidy Sketches take anywhere between 30-60 minutes to complete.

I will be announcing further details closer to the date, but I hope to see you there.

My sweet little budgie, 11 years old, was put down today. She had several large growing tumors in her abdomen and causing her a lot of pain. The little trooper always put on a strong face, pretending that it didnt hurt, but it was becoming very aparent that she wasnt enjoying things like she had before. Any time she wasnt puting on her front she was puffed and misserable.

I kept making excuses to not have to bring her in, somehow hoping to know just the right moment to cut her loose from suffering but also to get every second of life she deserved. She wasnt getting better, and i knew she would only get worse and more painful with passing weeks, especially since she'd been fighting taking the painkillers and only getting more agitated and pained. 3 weeks from her previous visit to the vet, and very many tears and struggling to decide when she would perk up for a few minutes to chew or eat something, It was decided that this would be best for her.

We took her to the vet today for her final visit. She didnt fight too much as the vet grabbed her and gave her the sedative. I held her in my hand as she slowly drifted off, rubbing her chest and cheeks and talking to her. I held her as long as i could before i had to give her back to the vet to take over and give the final injection. And then it was over. A saga of 11 years of having budgies in my life. It was the hardest decision ive ever had to make, as her brother and sister both passed before I had to make that decision for them. She was a strong soul, though, and would have suffered long and hard if not for this.
Still, it never feels like the right choice.

Set her in a tea box laid with soft tissue paper, along with some millet, a shard of cuttlebone, and the end of her papertowel tube. Finally, we laid her in the back garden of my mother's house, next to her brother and sister, all burried under decorative stones. She always deserved better, and this was the best that I could give her.

Ill miss the little birdling. She was the only one of the three to let me pet her chest, and was the sweetest of the trio. She would obliterate a papertowel tube a week, often from the inside. From all the times in her life ive stressed with her, from the first (and every other) egg she layed, to squabbling with her sister, to getting her broken toe mended, and a painful worn spot on her foot tended to by wrapping her perches in toiletpaper.

Rest well, birdling Nique. You've earned to be at peace. Ill love you forever.

It took a bit, but things are finally evening out again. Commission backlog status has been steadily clearing, and once more people are asking when Im taking commissions again, some of which for TOI Suits. It had me considering perhaps a YCH style few page comic (Since ive been wanting some practice at those) or perhaps some sort of raffle for suits or scenarios.

As well, Ive been streaming again more, recently, and have been considering a sketch stream sometime in the week to help make up for some of the lost wages back in august. More information on that to come.

Hey there, Patient People. It's been a minute.
So, there's been some rough times. July has been a hot mess for motivation and self confidence. I'd thought that I'd broken through it come the start of August, and for the most part I had; that is, until, my brother was in a car accident. Brain damage is involved, and he's looking to be a very long recovery. All the same, the helplessness of the situation has made things very hard to function.

Still, I NEED to get these done, both for bills to pay and out of obligation to others. I'm doing my best to pull my sorry ass back into the fray.

Hey there yall. I have all the commission forms, i just need to go through them. I wont be able to today since im out of town, but ill be contacting those who got the slots Saturday evening when im back in town.

Hello there, everyone. It's that time again. After the success of the new format I'd been testing for June, that being taking the slots all at once at the start of the month, Id figured I would do it again for July.

I will be opening 12 Slots for July, so here are the details on how I will be handling them:

-Commissions will no longer be on a First-come-first-serve basis, but rather I will be picking and choosing submissions to fit the quota I have for the month. This is due to many people's interest in sequences, which greatly change how I need to approach my workload.

-Commission forms will be filled by applicants, per usual, and I will be contacting those who received the slot via the email they provide. Due to volume, I will not be able to contact everyone individually if they did not get chosen for the slot.

-Communication thereafter will be done through my business email, including questions and progress updates.

-Please be patient. As I am taking the slots on all at once at the start of the month I may not be in contact with some people until near the end of the month. I don't take payment until a rough sketch has been confirmed, but those with most complex commissions will often be completed later in the month than simpler ones. Don't worry, as you're still on the list and I've not forgotten about you.

-I Will be contacting those who received the slot through email on the 1st of July. Paypal invoices will be sent to the same email only after the rough sketch has been confirmed by you, and continued after it has been paid.

With the disheartening amount of garbage pouring from FA recently, from stolen information, to hacked PayPals, Lost accounts, Virus-ridden mobile interface, to a Class-action lawsuit in progress against it for gross negligence for its users, I'm very glad Ive been diversifying my gallery presence. It saddens me greatly to see the number of people re-adding me after being forced to make new accounts, on top of greatly skewing my accuracy on number of active followers. I figure the best time to try something new is when people have lost everything; may as well rebuild where it's safe.

Alright, so here's the skinny:

While I'm not leaving FA entirely I'm going to be changing how I go about Posting Art and Taking Commissions. For the most part, FA has been a necessary evil, so I'm going to be posting my work on all of my other Galleries a day before to help encourage people to move over to superior platforms and help them and the artists on them grow.

I'm going to be changing formats for commissions a little, going from exclusively FA, and opening an Gmail exclusively for Commissioners. From there, I will be giving them a Commission Form to fill out for my records to keep it all straight. For those interested, my commission email is Proxerdraws[at]gmail.com . I'm going to do my best to announce opening for commissions through Twitter, FurryNetwork, and Weasyl. Because of the much more varied bases, I will be considering opening 12 commission slots PER MONTH, rather than 3 slots per Week.

In addition, I will be considering a bi-weekly Art Stream over on Picarto at picarto.tv/ProxerDraws, as they help me gain and keep momentum sometimes.
