Subboss Theme - Scott Pilgrim vs The World: The Game OST
Posted 13 years agoWhen I hear this, I honestly think beyond the "sub boss" battle against Envy Adams and the other girl in the Scott Pilgrim game. It's obvious that when Anamanaguchi composed this tune, they were aiming to create something that embodied what the old games of the past have tried to encompass whenever your player character would encounter a "sub boss" or "nemesis" character. I'm weathered enough to hear some NES "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 1 and 3" in this, some "Battletoads & Double Dragon" in this, and maybe a smidgen of what other old-school games have tried to present music-wise whenever you would encounter "that one douche who's stopping the screen from continuing to scroll onward..."
CLEARLY inspired by the old NES Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles games. Immediately I think "mid-level" enemy with a life bar that the screen has now locked because of.
It's sad that they didn't take advantage of any further opportunities to use this tune in the Scott Pilgrim game. Hearing it early on, on Stage 3 during the Envy Adams boss fight, is a bit befitting since any gung-ho players will most likely have reached her with low stats, thus making the boss fight significantly challenging (on account of the player's impatience, lol...). But hearing it at "Robot 001" was a joke. :U
An epic tune nonetheless, but I say it could produce much more effectual results if it was included in a badass fangame, lol...
Potential For Anything - VVVVVV OST
Posted 13 years agoThis is all you would have had to do for me to essentially both ruin and COMPLETE my life if I was 8 years old in 2012:
- Play VVVVVV in front of me and get to the level that made this music, then essentially give me OWNERSHIP of your download of VVVVVV
- Buy "Super Meat Boy" for me
- Buy me a copy of "Metal Gear Solid HD Collection" (MGS2 Substance, MGS3 Subsistence, MG Peace Walker), then HIGHLY emphasize how epic MGS2's VR Mission Mode is
- Buy me a copy of "Pac-Man Championship Edition DX" just to laugh at how "easy" I am posthumously...

Chaos Ver. 0, 2, 4 (Extended) - Sonic Adventure [DX] OST
Posted 13 years agoI love this one.
It always got me in the mood to complete a Sonic the Hedgehog stylized battle when I kept hearing this tune on subsequent playthroughs of SA1.^^ The game was brand new to me, back on the Sega Dreamcast, but this tune struck me as something that BELONGS in a Sonic game. It has a certain quirkiness to it that makes it one of those "epic" tracks that you try to prolong your hearing of by taking unecessarily long to complete the boss battle it comes from, ha ha. I know I did. XD
It was just cool that Sonic Adventure 1 had some stylistics about it that payed homage to the older Sonic games of the Sega Genesis (like the inclusion of "Green Grove Zone's" music from Sonic 3D Blast in SA1's "Windy Valley." I absolutely loved that touch ).
Beyond Her Garden (HastyPixels C64 Remix) - WoodenToaster
Posted 13 years agoI like the music of Simon Woodington. I haven't heard much of it except for his OLDEST works on up to maybe one or two of his newest ones (including this one), but for what I've heard, I like what he puts into sound.
This is just a nice chiptune remix to me. I haven't heard the original mix before, but I can still appreciate this mix (of course, because I'm a bit of a C64 baby... ).
Back 2 Skala (Chrono Trigger) - ambient, Skrypnyk (OC ReMix)
Posted 13 years agoI really didn't know about this remix until around the time I decided to download all of the music from http://ocremix.org/ one day (back when I lived in a putrid apartment.). I really like it. And for some reason, it makes me think of Dragonball Z - probably just a side effect from the fact that the art of Akira Toriyama is what was featured in Chrono Trigger, a game beloved by many old-school gamers, which was, at one point, called "The Greatest RPG ever." Times have changed drastically since then.
I first played CT only on the "Snes9XW" SNES emulator, and later bought the "Final Fantasy Chronicles" PS1 bundle that came with PS1 imports of both [the actual] FF4 and Chrono Trigger. Of course the SNES version was ultimately superior since it didn't need to load anything from a CD (making every enemy encounter take about 7 seconds longer to begin... >_<), but I was happy, even though I played FF4 more than CT. I still haven't returned to that game yet, in any form. I don't have the recent PSN or Wii Shop Channel downloadble versions of it, nor the remake that was made on the (DS?) PSP.
It's one of those old gems that I could really enjoy to the fullest extent if I sat down and devoted some time to it. I'm just spoiled on high-end graphics and over-the-top production values...
Let Me Blow You A Kiss (Extended) - Final Fantasy X-2 OST
Posted 13 years agoBy far my favorite battle track in the game.
That game may have been very easy, with only a few notably difficult battles (I think??? ), but it was fun.
>_>...
<_<...

WE ALL KNOW THAT SQUARE-ENIX IS CHOKE-FULL OF CREEPY FETISHISTS~ @_@
The game was akward, there's no doubt about that. But fun. XD
Awakening (Gui Boratto Remix) - Halo 4 Remixes
Posted 13 years agoHad to post this. HAD to post this!
No, I don't own the game (nor a Xbox 360 to play it on), but I've been a busy kitty tonight, and I came across this track in a full length album YouTube link ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aOI-5Eek_EA ), and with this being the first one in the play order...............
I think it's a powerful track. Gotta love that breakdown halfway into 2:04! (as my sister would say, "That's 'It's goin' DOOOWWWWWNNN' music!" =D).
Here's hoping all you 360 owners are raising Hell all over the servers in this game.

How To Play (Looped) - The King of Fighters XI OST
Posted 13 years agoA tune from one of the games that both my brother and my Army-bound friend love lots.
It's funny how I fell in love with this game back in 2007 when it came out. I was never huge on "The King of Fighters," but I had always recognized it as a great series. What especially always struck me as interesting was how SNK Playmore seemed to ALWAYS treat these games like works of art, and it's always a plus in my book when a game company treats the work of their affiliates as actual art instead of treating the finished product as "just another game." It's always a pleasure to see a streak of art preservation when it comes to games, no matter their subject. That the work of an artist is thought to be included in a game as unlockables is always a plus to me, because I just looooove seeing the stages that characters, objects, and landscape concepts went through before anything was finalized for the finished product. And SNK Playmore's got a plethora of intelligent works under their belts, just like Capcom does, and also like other 'giant' companies like Konami and Square-Enix do.
I remember this tune from the darker, harder days of my life. It may only be something of a game, and even one of the title's less "stellar" pieces as far as music goes, but since the game was so polished and well designed in such a new-age yet old-school fashion, that was easy to overlook. Plus, I just enjoy fun-sounding, "wobbly" music, especially before an epic beatdown ensues...
...of which I was usually on the losing sides of...
My brother is by FAR more 'boss' at "Street Fighter"-esque fighting games than me. He could fuck em' all up with Gouki (Assuming he were playing "Capcom vs SNK 2" instead of KoF XI, that is... x3 ).
Public Enemy (Regular Battle 1) Extended - Devil May Cry OST
Posted 13 years agoHow many of you can attest to being utterly freaked out when you heard this tune just after the manikin tried to kill you once you picked up the key?
In my opinion, it's the best fight tune in the game. I do like the one that you hear when fighting the "Blades" outside in the area of Melee Castle where you fight "Griffon" (which is badass in its own right... ), but this is the one I connect better with more since I'm hugely "pick-up-and-play" oriented anymore (as in "short play sessions with a game" - part of why I'm so prone to dabble in the oldies more than the new stuff, which also rocks... :3 ).
Pressing Square to shoot with Ebony and Ivory like you've lost your mind JUST to survive. OR, being a 'slow-to-the-slaughter' "casual gamer" who's too comfortable to play RIGHT. Sorry, but Capcom doesn't care if you prefer a Turn-Based experience, or retarded enemies who lag behind their comrades whenever you're surrounded, LOL. XD!!!
...which DMC3 boasted. :V Part 3 may be the FUNNEST one, but it could've benefited from that "heartless attacker" formula that Tecmo's Ninja Gaiden" boasted later in 2004...
Supporting Me (Biolizard) - Sonic Adventure 2 [Battle] OST
Posted 13 years agoOddly enough, this is one of my now autistic SISTER'S favorite videogame tunes...
And one of mine as well. It was just badass as utter fuck that one of the game's most integral battles in the Final Story Mode had Shadow the Hedgehog at the head of it, truly giving the newest addition to the Sonic character roster at the time his chance to shine, and with such a badass boss tune to carry everything along. <333 I can still remember feeling like I was just "the hottest shit ever" doing that battle over and over and OVER again. Something about it was hypnotic to me, mostly because EVERY TIME the music reaches 0:50, the biolizard changes its attack pattern and begins to spit those "energy balls" at you that trail along the ground. Every time that happened I was like "god yes," because the contrast between the music and the 'intensity' of the battle (I was 17... XD ) was in perfect sync, and I felt like a god at gaming for knowing exactly what I was supposed to do at that moment.
Okay, so maybe that was just me coming down off of my Marvel vs Capcom 2 high on that same game console (the Sega Dreamcast), but in any case, Sonic Adventure 2 was one of my favorite Dreamcast games to play during the Summer and Winter seasons. I can still remember sitting in a Pizza Hut with my dad literally begging him to buy me this game, because if he didn't I would've been the most unhappy kitty in Dayton... ;_;
There is never a "wrong" time for me to listen to this track. "Anti-hero sees the error of his way, and reaches out for need of the light's salvation?" Fuck yeah...
Yes, I'm aware of all the bad rap the STH games get. But if you know anything about my widespread appreciation for artistry...... (I'D play "Sonic Riders..." ).
Pushing Onwards - VVVVVV OST
Posted 13 years ago"Popcorn," anyone? The way this tune starts out is very reminiscent of that old, well known (amiga?) tune.
It's just a fun (and epic ) track to listen to!^^

Ravine of silence Stage ~Ravine~ (Extended) - Chaos Legion
Posted 13 years agoIf you've got an ear for music, you can tell that at 3:52, this tune skips a second and a few milliseconds. Guess that was either an unavoidable flaw or just an unprecedented caveat. And I'm far from an expert editor myself, knowing only how to cut off sections of music to make any particular tune seem like an endless loop.
And then there's my ability to edit out only specific sections of videos in order to extract their frames and make my own icons...
A dreary but upbeat tune from a PS2 Capcom game that once held a particular significance with me.
There Might Be Coffee (Original Mix) - Deadmau5
Posted 13 years agoFREE DOWNLOAD: http://soundcloud.com/fuckmylife/th.....ight-be-coffee
I totally agree with one of the top commentors here. It makes me think back to the days of (and I'll keep it singular...) 'A' cool ninja action game for the Sega Genesis (all of us 'in-the-know'...know that "Shinobi 3 - Return of the Ninja Master" was the greatest ninja game on that game console... ).
It makes me think of YM2612 Sega Genesis (Mega Drive) stylized music, yet it's not even something you could categorize in that way (maybe? ). I'm a complete n00b when it comes to the music of Deadmau5, so I'll have to peruse their works wherever I find them to get hip to their style!
I'm probably gonna be playing this one on "Repeat 1" whenever I spend some time writing out the [mostly "full/half mortal vs full/half mortal"] parts of my overall Parasympathy story that are heavy with both emotion and epic action...
Found out about this one through a Skype message update by

Stage 1 (Terraport) / Stage 6 (Bamboo Mill) - Vectorman OST
Posted 13 years agoI played this game mostly over a friend's house back in the early 90s, but I never owned a copy of it myself. And like the supreme douche that he was, he made sure I didn't know anything about its debug menu/Level Select code, as per what was like his douchey "SIDE RELIGION" whenever it came to me and him playing videogames over his house... =_=
And then life happened some more for over 2 decades, and I went through Hell and back, and I emerged as a "disability case" in the year 2009 (2010?) who saw fit to buy a high end iPod Touch, PS3, PSP, and a laptop computer that I used promptly to store [almost] ALL the videogames...
...and joined FA, and became "one of the 'cool kids'," lol...
TRAINING STAGE (Home Version) - Capcom Fighting Jam OST
Posted 13 years agoI get a really filthy kind of inspiration in mind when I listen to this, not so much in the case of something directly erotic, but just passively carnal. The vision entails something of an environ made to house brutal fighting competitions, where the world's most depraved but physically superior beings are pitted against one another to fight to the death, they being commodities that serve to line the pockets of filthy rich nobles and other wealthy figures.
The imagery is brutal, and the aesthetics are nothing short of breathtaking.
Preferably, such a place of public entertainment would be an integral part of Akira's reality in Parasympathy, which I don't normally take time to expound upon the more modernized nature of.

Funnily enough, it's not the music of this game that I remember most about it, but the co-op gameplay. This is a title that me and my brother and sister sat down to play together at one point in the past, enjoying the fast action of its simple gameplay. The music just helped everything to pan out better, getting us into the game. <3
I absolutely love YM2612 Sega Genesis music. That old console may not be capable of pumping out loads of polygons like a PS2, Gamecube, or a PS3 or Xbox/Xbox 360, but what its selection of titles had to offer in terms of sheer ART more than made up for that.
Now if only I'd stop being so indecisive and discontent, and actually play this game, lol...
