Finally
Posted 8 months agoAfter two years of being unable to draw, I finally have the privacy I needed to doodle again. It will take me a little while to get back to normal though. There are some things I need to complete first.
About commissions, I won't be able to do anything until I finish the pending things I left two years ago.
For now I'm going to concentrate on continuing to write "Project R", which is the most important thing for me right now.
So without anything else to say, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Coming up soon, my opinion on Sonic 3. Have you seen it yet? So what are you waiting for? Check it out now! It's worth every penny you pay for the ticket.

It's been so long...
Posted 9 months agoAnd sometimes I wonder. Why am I still doing this?
The last few drawings I've posted, I don't know how I've been able to find time to finish them. They weren't even hand-made, they're just recycled sketches from an old one. I haven't drawn anything for real in a long time. It's a mess.
I'm tired, I don't sleep well, I have pending tasks so I can't even do commissions. I'm getting older every day and I still haven't managed to finish anything.
Life has put me on an unexpected path that I can't give up. I don't know what keeps me here.
Foolishness? Pride? Nostalgia? Or maybe I'm just holding on to something I don't know if it exists. Or maybe it's a bit of everything.
The people I met have changed so much that they seem like strangers to me now. I could try to go out for a walk to relax, but when I get to the door I realize I'm not home anymore.
I guess it's time for a change too.
Don't worry. Whatever happens, my work will stay here. I didn't spend years creating all this stuff to just make it go away. Let it be a testament to who I once was: A doodling weirdo who one day discovered there were other weirdos like him.
It was fun while it lasted.
Now if you'll excuse me, I need to get some sleep.

A pasado tanto tiempo...
Necedad? Orgullo? Nostalgia?

Let's talk about Knuckles, again.
Posted a year agoIn a previous journal I said that if you were disappointed with the Knuckles series, it was your fault. And I stand by that stance. I also said that I didn't find the series to be a complete waste and that it was just a matter of not having high expectations. And I stand by that stance as well. However... after giving the series another look, I realize why I've almost put it out of my head.
Let's see, we have a series of only 6 chapters, and each chapter lasts approximately 20-30 minutes. Still, the series seems to last longer, and this happens basically for one reason: The series is boring.
For a moment I'm going to forget that I was once a huge Sonic fan and that I'm also completely ignorant of his lore. For a moment I'm going to focus solely on the universe that the Sonic movies propose to me.
I have no problem with human characters having their place in this new Sonic universe. In fact, I have no complaints about the wedding scene in Sonic 2. Now... When I read the synopsis of the Knuckles series, I already had an idea of what I was about to see and I tried to imagine a story of Wade and Knuckles living together a fun adventure where each one would learn something from the other. A simple premise, but one that can work if done correctly.
The problem... is that it was not done correctly.
The series, despite its short length, manages to cut out the interesting parts and extend the boring monologues of the characters. Seriously, from episode 3 the series abuses monologues that, far from causing me any kind of interest, end up working as a sleeping pill if I watch the series alone or as a very uncomfortable moment if I watch the series in the company of someone else.
The musical in episode 4 is simply the worst thing about this series. Look, I understand that within the Sonic fandom this type of "shitpost" is funny, but when you take these jokes to a product aimed at a more casual audience, and you also make it last more than 20 minutes, it's not funny anymore, it's annoying. I watched that episode with my family and I really wanted the earth to swallow me up because of how uncomfortable everyone looked.
Now, let's talk about the characters.
Knux and Wade seem okay to me, I think they both have their well-defined space, but I would have liked Knux to have a better character development, because the plot develops Wade more.
Wade's family... is okay, although his sister seemed like a very annoying character to me and the fork joke honestly didn't make me laugh, rather it made me angry.
The character of Jack Sinclair simply shouldn't have existed. From the moment he appears, he is a character who does nothing but talk about himself and we never know if he is really telling the truth, because as I said, the series is based on doing monologues and showing very little. The only function of this character is to give his hat to Knuckles, because his plot with Wade is simply idiotic.
I think the villains are the best of this series and curiously they are the ones who participate the least in the plot. The two agents who pursue Knuckles are fun to watch and I think they have good reasons for doing what they do, but after chapter 2 you don't hear from them again until the last act of the series!
But the one who gets the worst part is the main antagonist, "The Buyer". A character as mysterious as he is interesting because of how little we know about him, but he barely appears and his motivations are confusing. All this takes away from the excitement of the final battle. Because it is not just a matter of making a nice fight. You have to prepare the context so that this last battle is truly exciting.
Anyway, I'm going on too long. The Knuckles series was a failed experiment. Visually, it's great that the CGI maintained the cinematic quality, but the sloppy writing has left a very bad taste in my mouth and this doesn't help me get excited about Sonic 3.
I hope Paramount is more careful, because it will depend on Sonic 3 whether this universe continues or it all ends here.

Posted a year agoI can't believe how many people have forgotten the story of Sonic Battle. Haha!
Knuckles
Posted a year agoI'm going to start by saying one thing: If you're disappointed with the series, it's your fault.
Did you really expect to see something similar to the games? Two films have passed and I think the direction of these productions is already quite clear. Once and for all, get out of your head the idea that you will see a story faithful to Sonic's lore. That's not gonna happen. And Sonic 3 is not going to be the exception.
This is a new universe, which takes references from Sonic's lore to tell its own version of things.
I've seen people say that Prime has turned out to be better than the Knuckles series, but that seems like an exaggeration to me. They are very different products and I think Knuckles fulfills its purpose: Being a Spin off of the Sonic movies. If you forgot that, that's your problem.
I admit that a part of me got a little excited when I saw that Pachacamac in the trailer, but I've learned not to let my imagination run wild with things like that. My feet on the ground and thus I avoid anger.
Now, to the point. The series seemed like a waste of potential to me, but it also doesn't seem like absolute crap to me. It's far from what I would have wanted, but its short length and the amount of fandom references make it entertaining enough to pass the time. Especially if you are a veteran in the fandom.
Apart from a couple of surprises, the series doesn't add much to the lore of this new universe. I can assure you that you don't need to watch this series to see Sonic 3.
The quality of the production must also be recognized. For a spin off series, it's not bad at all. It's nice to see. If only they had put a little more effort into the script...
So. Do I recommend this series? The short answer is... You can't lose. At least it's fun to look up the fandom references. Just try not to have high expectations with the plot and you will enjoy it better. That's what I did and that's why I'm not angry. The series is exactly what I had imagined it would be.
Anyway, now we just have to wait for the Sonic 3 trailer, and I personally recommend that you not get your hopes up. The secret here is not to have high expectations and this way you will have a better experience.

Sonic Prime is not for beginners
Posted 2 years agoENG
What can I say? Well... it was a bit of a strange experience. It wasn't bad, but I can't say that I was very excited about what I've seen either. Maybe it's because I'm almost 4 decades old and I'm still waiting for something from a franchise that has clearly changed its target audience.
It's good to see another Sonic animated series, and the idea of a "multiverse" is quite attractive for a franchise like this, but since I saw the first concept arts I realized that things would not be as many of us would have wanted. We wouldn't see Sonic interacting with his versions of Sonic X or Sonic Boom. As fantastic as this sounded, I think many of us were aware that it was too good to be true.
So, let's get to the point. The series presents us with its own multiverse, which is still interesting, but here's the problem: The series assumes that you already know the characters and introduces them all abruptly, leaving very little time to empathize with them. This makes the "multiverse" uninteresting, because if you don't know the original characters well, the existence of an alternative version of them loses its fun.
Surely this is not a problem for you, because you must have tried some hedgehog games or seen one of his series or comics. You must have some knowledge of the franchise and this allows you to enjoy the multiverse that Sonic Prime raises, but if this is your first contact with the blue hedgehog, I think you won't enjoy it as much.
The series will not only introduce you to a multiverse with variants of characters you don't know, but it will also constantly bombard you with flashbacks, which have the function of explaining the situation of the protagonist and his relationship with the other characters.
At least from my point of view, this way of telling the story is a bit convoluted. If it wasn't for the fact that I know the characters from the franchise, I wouldn't have enjoyed this series. Luckily, I do know them.

MOTU CGI, More than I expected
Posted 3 years agoLast year, He-Man and the masters of the universe, the netflix CGI series, premiered. I had already given my opinion about this series and the pleasant surprise I got with it, in compensation for the disappointment I had with Revelation. Despite its notable changes, the series managed to win my appreciation and I don't regret at all that I followed it during its three seasons. I have even bought some figures, which you can see on my Twitter account.
The first season was quite good, presenting a new version of the MOTU universe, but respecting its original essence. Some changes may be somewhat controversial, but there are others that are very well done. I personally love the villain designs and the way they were written.
The second season had a low quality in the writing. The series prioritized humor taking it to very childish levels. In addition, new characters were included with even more controversial changes than the first season. Even so, the season manages to recover in its last chapters and closes with a much more interesting cliffhanger than its predecessor.
I admit that this second season left me with some fear about the direction the series would take, but I was hoping that in the third season it would recover, and thank heaven I was not wrong.
The recent third season casts aside the goofy humor and returns with that exciting spirit that the first season had. New elements and characters from the MOTU mythology appear here, with nice changes and many references to the old series. This season concludes the Skeletor's arc and ends with a tremendous cliffhanger, which introduces us to the next enemy to threaten Eternia.
I remember that when I saw this series for the first time, I did not have many expectations. My only purpose was to make the comparison with Revelation. If the supposedly children's series were to have better writing than the supposedly adult series, I would have had a reason to eternally mock Kevin Smith's "work". However, the cgi series ended up being much better than I expected and got me hooked once again in the MOTU universe.
I'm not sure if Netflix is going to produce new seasons, but personally I would love to see more of this series. It's fun, it has a lot of action, the soundtrack is great, the characters keep their essence despite the changes and the universe of this series respects the MOTU mythology a lot (more than Revelation).
I think the most "shocking" thing about this series is its visual style and I understand that not everyone may like it, but don't judge the book by its cover. Give it a try and you will see that you will not be disappointed.

Posted 3 years agoWhen I was 20, I didn't want to be 30. When I was 30, I didn't want to be 40. But now that I'm turning 40, I want to be 100. This was said by a man named Keith Richards. It suits me to say this now. Have a nice day everyone.

Frontiers
Posted 3 years agoI have to admit that SEGA has become a master at selling expectations. Fans are really excited about every drop of news.
Sonic Origins was released huh? I don't see you very happy. *giggles*
There are many things that I would like to say, but I will wait patiently until the end.

Now yes, Sonic Movie 2
Posted 3 years agoI think by now, most of us have already seen the movie, so let's get down to business.
Sonic Movie 2 is everything the first movie wasn't. I really liked the way they adapted the lore of the games to this new cinematic universe. Jim Carrey was my favorite version of Dr. Eggman and that Death Egg Robot at the end is simply the best I've seen yet.
It would have been a perfect adaptation if it weren't for certain cringe moments that detracted from the film's quality. I get that the Siberian dance scene was meant to cement Sonic and Tails' friendship, but I think there were other more effective and less ridiculous ways to do it. Rachel's wedding arc was unnecessarily long, though it did at least introduce GUN into the story, but it's also something that could have been handled differently. Anyway, I understand that this type of silly humor is aimed at a more casual audience and in that sense it works, that is something that fans of the hedgehog must understand.
I'm personally very pleased with the direction this new lore is heading and the way they've adapted the Knuckles and the Master Emerald story. Making the loss of his tribe a recent event and not something that happened thousands of years ago gives the character's motivations more force. Even they dared to show us his father! Unfortunately, I feel like Tails was a bit careless in this regard. The character is introduced abruptly and not much is explained about him, making his friendship with Sonic feel a bit forced. Or at least I felt that way.
And well... the post credits scene is something I can't help but mention. I know that many hope that the next movie will be based on the story of Sonic Adventure 2, but I think that will not be the case. As with Knuckles' arc, Shadow's arc would be modified to fit the new lore. In addition, there are other characters that have yet to be introduced to the movies.
There are so many things I would like to say about this movie, but I think I will do it in other Journals. Now it's time to wait for the Knuckles series. I'm really intrigued to know more about this universe. I can't believe these movies have managed to revive my enthusiasm for the hedgehog.
Sonic Frontiers? No, I don't know it. Is it some boy band?

Chip & Dale - No spoilers
Posted 3 years agoI was going to leave my comment about Sonic 2, since I think by now most of you have already seen the movie. But instead I will make a brief comment about the Chip and Dale movie.
Don't misunderstand my previous Journal. I'm not complaining about the fly and the mouse, but it was unexpected and quite shocking for me. But I take it for what it is, a joke and nothing more. With that said, let's get started.
When I saw the trailer a long time ago, I thought that this movie would make the same mistakes as Space Jam 2, with a childish rhythm and empty cameos, mostly from Disney. It wasn't until the rumor that Ugly Sonic would appear in this movie reached my ears that I decided to see it.
With low expectations and a lot of interest in seeing the ugly Sonic, what I ended up experiencing was a movie that could easily be the spiritual sequel to "Who Framed Roger Rabbit." Disney didn't just use characters they owned, but also included characters from other companies, something I didn't think would happen again. In addition, the cameos are not simply decorative, but many of them have dialogues and interactions, integrating very well into the realistic world that this film poses.
Chip & Dale certainly isn't on the same level as "Who Framed Roger Rabbit." Let's say this movie is a more subtle version of that classic, but it works pretty well. Also, the movie seems to poke fun at modern Disney cliches, like the good guy who turned out to be bad, or the villain with a tragic undertone.
Well, I can't say that everything is perfect either. The movie has several logical flaws, but it's fun and that is the important thing. I recommend it? Yes, I think it's worth it.
