Jim Hardiman
General | Posted 11 years agoI never met Jim Hardiman, I didn't get to know him personally or know what sort of guy he was. I didn't know if he was a good person or a bad person.
I'm still saddened by his death I suppose because he gave something to me I enjoyed which was his art. He shared with everything his passion and I don't care who you were that's something that deserves respect.
I'm appreciative of his work and I'm grateful of what he's given to everyone. I'm just one random furry who loved his work and I guess all I can say is thank you.
Thank you for sharing your passion Jim, thank you for letting everyone see what you can do and I for one was damn impressed.

Cutting the cord...God I'm scared.
General | Posted 12 years agoI'm long winded in text so hold onto your hat, No this is not a complaint post.
So I'm thinking about cutting out my cable and before you all nod your head you need to understand something. I grew up in the "The TV is always on" age where you had a TV and it was on. Wether it was background noise or you were watching something. It's very unsettling to someone like me to just cut the cable, it feels wrong and right at the same time.
Things have changed for me the last few years and for TV in general so after 38 years I think it's time I change things up. I'm looking into getting the Roku, Apple TV or the Android box but while my technical know how is pretty good I'm at loss as to what is best for me.
I don't have HDMI so I have to go analog and I know it's possible but I am just not sure how to go about doing that. Yes you can look on the internet but if you've met you might know I have little patience for anything I have to hook up or put together that seems to take for-bloody-ever.
My needs are simple. I still like to turn my TV on and leave it running while I'm doing whatever. Sometimes I just want to kick back on the couch and watch something interesting. With the internet I don't need to watch live TV but what I'm watching has to be of interest to me and not always something I've seen 40 + times.
Right now I have cable because I'm watching World Cup but everyday I think about 50 dollars I could be saving right now for every month.

Bad Grandpa is worse then bad
General | Posted 12 years agoI don't pay for anything I know will be terrible so I dled "Jackass presents Bad Grandpa" It's Johnny Knoxville dressed up as Irving Zisman (whom if you've seen it was also a character he played on Jackass and the Jackass movies taking his grandson across the country to be left with his deadbeat dad.
Now I didn't load this movie thinking "Here comes a oscar winning movie" but I'd seen the Jackass movies and tv show so I expected some funny sight gags and the usual Jackass fare.
Instead what I get is worse, it's 90 minutes of one bit that goes way too long and way too silly. I couldn't even get through half the movie without just turning it off and deleting it.
It's terrible, its horrible, it's not even worth watching for free.

This is the End or World's End?
General | Posted 12 years agoRecently (like yesterday) I watched two possibly similarly themed movies that were (or are?) in theatres. These movies were "This is the End" with an "all star" cast and "The World's End" starring Simon Pegg. (Hot Fuzz, Run Fatboy Run, Shaun of the Dead)
First let me be clear and say I am not a Seth Rogan fan, I think he has success where he shouldn't but that doesn't mean I won't check out a movie of his for free. I am a Simon Pegg fan and anyone who has seen Hot Fuzz or Shaun of the Dead remembers the red headed guy in those movies.
I don't like to give too much away in movies since I think it's only fair you see it for yourself. This is just what I saw and thought of the movies.
This is the End
Lots and lots of well known actors in this movie but I'd only call one a star and that's James Franco. The rest in this movie could be considered funny or funny-ish depending on your own taste. It's got Seth Rogan in a lead role with Jay Burachel, Danny McBride, Jonah Hill, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Michael Cera, Craig Robinson, and Emma Watson.
Everyone plays themselves so you know there is going to be a lot of silliness going on. Jay Burachel arrives in Los Angeles to hang out with his friend Seth Rogan and Seth convinces him to go with him James Franco's house for a party. Jay reluctantly goes and doesn't have a good time. In the process of the movie they experience "The End" with all the other "stars" as they go through a series of survivals.
The funniest part of this movie is Danny McBride who basically plays his Eastbound and Down character but with his real name. Everyone else was over the top and silly.
I think I laughed three times and twice was at Danny McBride.
The World's End
This movie is much different from the previous movie we just talked about. I won't give away what happens and why the title is what it is but suffice to say you find out pretty early on why the title is "The World's End"
Simon Pegg plays a loser who tries to relive his younger days goal of attending every pub in his home town in one night. Its dubbed "The Golden Mile" and he has to get his old friends back together including Nick Frost (Who you might remember as his best friend in Shaun of the Dead and his partner in Hot Fuzz) They are all really not into this even a little bit but they're conned into it a bit at first. When they arrive things seems a little off in their hometown and when all is exposed it turns into a crazy lark that Simon Pegg co-written movies tend to do.
I laughed more at this movie then the previous one only because I think the jokes were more inventive and the gags were not so obvious.

Elizabeth Taylor passes away today
General | Posted 15 years agoI know celebrities pass away but this is a true legend and a true fighter. Among her accomplishments in movies she was also a champion of fighting the aids epidemic.
Yes she had a controversial existence at times but truly we were all blessed to have this person among us.
Please I ask you to donate to her aids fund as soon as possible:
http://www.ethaf.org/how-you-can-help
I loved her movies and am forever grateful for her fight against this terrible disease.
Thank you Elizabeth,
"I've been through it all, baby, I'm mother courage."

What exactly is The Learning Channel?
General | Posted 15 years agoThe Learning Channel?
Ever watch this channel and feel like you're learning something. Maybe you're more like me and wonder why its called The Learning Channel
Years ago TLC was about learning with shows about dinosaurs and home improvement etc and I'll admit fully it wasn't a interesting channel for me personally but it -was- The Learning Channel
Let's look at the schedule today based on the Wednesday, January 26th, 2011, 9 am to 12 am cst timezone.
- Start 9 am -

Ok, I'm going to be nice and give a slight nod to A Baby Story & Bringing Home Baby because at least these shows can teach new parents about what to expect when their bundle of joy comes around.
If you're into any of these shows then that's all good and I'm not saying that TLC doesn't have a right to have these programs. My point is that MOST of these shows are NOT about learning
Ever watch Toddlers and Tiaras, I feel like the cops should come arrest me when I stop to watch it even for a few minutes.
Say Yes to the Dress, can anyone say exploitation of the bride?
Cake Boss, don't even get me started on that guy
My Deadly Appetite, Strange Addiction and Tons of Love are clearly programs designed to humiliate people for our entertainment. If you eat toilet paper or like to sleep with a hair dryer, seek professional help not television.
I don't know what TLC should change their name to but I do know that the word "Learning" doesn't apply anymore. Oh wait, I have a suggestion....How about the TSLC channel (The Sometimes Learning Channel)

Help me prove someone wrong!
General | Posted 15 years agoAnyone know the anime Doremon
http://video.google.com/videoplay?d.....9589765505998#
I saw it years ago and I KNOW there are panty shots in this anime. Someone else who everyone claims knows everything about anime says there are no panty shots in this anime
I KNOW THERE IS, I JUST KNOW IT!
I so want to prove them wrong because when everyone else backed them up that person acted like such a smug son of a bitch I wanted to smack them in the face. Now they act like they know everything about anything and everyone else listens.
can anyone get me screenshots or video of a Doremon panty shot?
Please, I'm asking here. Help me shove my foot in their face
Yes its very petty but haven't you ever wanted to just shut a know-it-all up

This picture here is created by a usual Care Bear artist by the name of ThisCrispyKat.
Ever since I was like 13 and full of hormones I have held one fact close to my chest. Brightheart and Champ are secretly in love!
Ok I know, I know they're cartoons and they're drawn already and the stories involving Brightheart and Champ are like over 20 years old but how many peopl obsess over Babs Bunny and Kim Possible?
How many pairings of anime couples involving yaoi/yuri/straight are there? I have a dream and while I know Disney isn't going to indulge my dream I can still think about it.
Champ and Brightheart have had all those adventures together and what sort of lcving is Champ getting from Cheer. That girls crazy and as straight guys know when the chick is crazy you change your phone number. Poor Brightheart has probably masturbated himself raw.
I bow to TCK and thank him (or is it her) for finally putting into a visual style that I have a believed for 22 years of my life.

Fchan down due to.....immaturity
General | Posted 16 years agoSo after being out most of the day I decided to go check out Fchan and see what new tidbits of images were posted.
Apparently the owner of the site decided to play a little joke and the users of the site weren't finding it funny.
I fully admit I don't know what transpired but it is the result when I went to Fchan that has me rather perplexed.
The owner has shut down the site for the day with an image of a anime girl and the following message:
"Due to the immaturity of the fchan community to deal with a simple and harmless April Fools joke initiated by the staff of fchan, I have decided to shut down access to the site for the remainder of the day."
followed below the anime girl is also a message:
"You did it to yourselves."
Did what to myself?, I went to Fchan only to discover that the owner of the site is as immature as the users he hosts his site for?
He also has a twitter page which he offered the link to and well lets just say his three posts there are not exactly any better.
I know Fchan is free and the owner is paying for it without asking for money but honestly noone forced this person to host this site and if this how they are going to act then really who cares. Eventually you find yourself with a website that noone visits because you decided to take it personally.

The show goes to commercial and one comes up for "Toddlers and Tiaras" so I'm sitting here trying to get my mind off sex and there's this commercial on with a little girl in a skin tight bikini shaking her ass.
I felt like a pedophile and hoped the police wouldn't know about this

Windows 7 Experience Part 2
General | Posted 16 years agoToday my task was two fold. First I wanted to remove the damned language bar and with some tooling ( that wasn't as complicated as I thought) I completly removed it from the desktop.
Next I wanted to create a quick launch bar like in XP and Vista. This turns out is not a big hassle. The hassle part is getting right back where the old Quick Launch bar used to be. Dragging from the taskbar seems to be rather impossible at the moment/
I am a fairly patient guy so I'll just wait and see if I can do it at another time.
Edit: I figured it out and got the quick launch all the way back to where I had it in Vista and XP.

Windows 7 Experience Part 1
General | Posted 16 years agoAfter having purchased a computer with Alienware and having Vista Home Premium preinstalled I decided it was time to move to Windows 7.
Vista was just not working out and I had to reinstall it so I thought why not just go to Win 7, but first I had to find out what everyone else thought (Or at least a few of you)
After perusing the internet and reading reviews by users, tech and so called "experts" I made the call and resolved to purchase Windows 7, But which version fit me?
Each version has its advantages but I'm a all or nothing kind of user, I hate the idea of buying something and then finding out afterwards that I missed out on something I could of used.
Windows 7 Ultimate was my target and I wasn't going to be stopped by anyone. Picking up a copy at one of many places that offer it online, two days later I had my copy ready and raring to go.
I had heard alot of things about the options to "upgrade" or "custom install" but hearing and seeing are two completely different things.
I don't know why but I have anxiety when it comes to these things. Visions of losing a peice of hardware on my computer danced through my head. These visions though proved to be my own creations.
After backing everything up (and I mean everything) I placed the cd on my Vista OS and said goodbye Vista with a full install of Windows 7.
I can say one thing about Windows positively in my experience and that is that the install isn't complicated in least. The whole process of a full install took about 45 minutes on my computer.
I was held up only when the OS asked for the product key which I failed to realize for 20 minutes was NOT on the bottom of the case anymore but on a handy card provided inside the case that says on the back "Product Key" oops silly me.
So here I was delving into the world of Windows 7 and finding my way through the new experience that Microsoft had laid at my feet.
First I have to say that it seems to boot faster and open quicker. As with any OS there were issues that I did not enjoy. There were also features I so far like that I still enjoy and hopefully will find no issues with.
Themes are very easy to setup and the fact that I can save my own theme is a plus as I found it annoying to have to redo my desktop theme everytime on previous Microsoft desktops.
There is no mail in Win 7 but the "getting started" feature offers you the opportunity to download many windows features and some I took part in.
Adding my own programs like AOL IM and my purchased Roboform were very easy and little hassle which I was very happy with.
Like anything there is no complete happiness and some features are either of no use to me or just frustrate me.
First the theme I chose was classic and this was perfect as it seems to nullify the "jumplists" that MS is so proud of but I do not need or want.
Adding one of my old programs that worked in Vista just fine was also a hassle. Finally I discovered a workaround with some internet snooping and got that program to install for me.
Show desktop is all the way on the other side of the taskbar which to me is very silly. There is a way to get it back on the other side but it is not a simple solution and accepting the place of "Show Desktop"seemed to be something I was going to go with.
The Quick launch is also gone replaced with "pin"which personally I find annoying and unnesscessary.
Overall I am actually happy with Windows 7 so far but a feature to return to the old setup would of been nice since this is supposed to be Microsoft's apparent apology for "Vista"

Complete this sentence, Brian Mulroney is.....
General | Posted 16 years agoYou say you didn't do anything wrong by accepting $225k in payments from Karlheinz Schreiber while you were still a member of Parliment.
Yet you admit you hide the funds in a New York apartment safe and didn't claim it on your taxes.
You said in 1995 under oath before the House of Commons Ethics Committee that you never had any dealings with Karlheinz Schreiber.
You will never be remembered well by the Canadian people, GST, Meech Lake and Charlottetown.......these are just some of the reasons we will never look at you with a positive regard
Get bent you goddamned sleaze bag

General | Posted 16 years agoAfter 5 years I've been riding a bike again, I'm getting a round belly as I grow older its getting larger so I decided why not get in some reasonable shape.
So I hopped on down to Wal-mart and picked me up a bike I can ride from A to B. Plus it saves me some money from the bus everyday when I go to work.
My butt hurts from the seat even with a gel padding over the seat and my legs are sore as hell
Through all of it though I know one thing, I'm actually doing something to get myself in some reasonable shape instead of just getting bigger and bigger around the middle
